ASA VPN network access internal

We have ASA5510s and I set up a VPN SSL using AnyConnect... The VPN address pool is 10.10.10.0/24 and our internal network is 10.10.20..0/24. After the connection successful, using LDAP. the customer receives an address 10.10.10.0/24 from the pool, but cannot access anything on the internal network 10.10.20.0/24. I played with access lists and NAT exemption, but nothing helped. What should I do?

Good, happy, I can help you here.

This is my first post on this site. Hi all!

I have not really set up ASAs or VPN on Cisco devices before. Currently, I'm trying to configure a dial-up VPN between ASA devices, a 5505 and a 5510. The 5510 is supposed to be the server and the 5505 is supposed to be the easyvpn customer. The reason why I'm opting for remote access instead of site to site is that I much 5505 s on the remote I need to set up in the future, and they will be moving around a bit (I prefer not to have to follow the configs to site to site). The 5510 is not mobile. The ASA devices are able to ping to 8.8.8.8 as ping each other in the face of public IP address.

Neither SAA can ping IP private of other ASA (this part makes sense), and I am unable to SSH from a client on the side 5510 for internal interface (192) of the 5505. I wonder if someone more experienced in the remote VPN ASA than me is able to see something wrong with my setup? I glued sterilized configs of two ASAs below.

Thanks a lot for any assistance!

  • No network access internal via QuickVPN

I've implemented a RVS4000 at our church so that staff could VPN in the PC it from home.

I'm trying to get my own set access in the first place but does not have a complete success.

At home, I'm behind a router NAT using XP SP3 with the latest version of the QuickVPN client, which of course includes the client certificate that is generated from the RVS4000. I can get connected and authenticated to the RVS4000 very well. I can even ping IP internal sound once I am connected.

But that's where the success ends. I can't ping any PC on the network internal Church. There is no firewall software running on them, including the Windows Firewall.

I can ping any PC to any other all in the Church. But I can't ping the IP of the any of them being connected to the House via QuickVPN.

It makes me batty because I've been on it so many times and I don't see what I am doing wrong in the program installation or execution.

My question only is this. Does make a difference if my home network is using the same subnet (10.0.0.x) as the network of the Church?

Of course, I would appreciate the help here because our old router works great and the ONLY reason that we spent money on the RVS4000 was to get the VPN capability.

I suggest to change the subnet on one of the locations for another, because if you are creating a tunnel is one of the requirements - even if you use just QVPN I think they have more or less the same condition

  • IP overlapping between VPN remote access and within the interface

    Hi all

I tried to replace an ASA and configured vpn for remote access using cisco VPN client.

Remote access users are not able to access within the network, but have no problem accessing the network through a VPN site-to site.

One thing to note is that remote access VPN users are assigned an ip address of 10.X.3.1 - 10.X.3.200 mask 255.255.255.0. The inside interface is on 10.X.1.2 255.255.0.0.

Remote access users will have no problem to access within the network if the pool of the vpn client is changed to 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.100.

    ASA errors

    6 January 7, 2012 16:25:08 302013 10.X.3.1 27724 3389 10.X.1.66 built of TCP connections incoming 20940 for outside:10.X.3.1/27724 (10.X.3.1/27724)(LOCAL\Cisco) at inside:10.X.1.66/3389 (10.X.1.66/3389) (Cisco)

    6 January 7, 2012 16:25:08 106015 10.X.1.66 3389 10.X.3.1 27724 Deny TCP 10.X.1.66/3389 to 10.X.3.1/27724 flags SYN ACK on dmz interface (no link)

I understand that the overlap between access ip address range remote vpn network interface network and inside will cause routing problems, but why the syn - ack makes its appearance in the DMZ interface? The interface of the DMZ is on ip address 172.16.Y.1 255.255.255.0.

I intend to reduce the interface 10.X.0.0 255.255.254.0 inside if it is in fact a routing problem due to the IP address that overlap, but I understand why the syn - ack comes from the dmz interface and the diagnosis of the problem is correct. I check with the customer and was informed that the existing design works on an another ASA with no such problems.

I agree what you said and also tried, but it does not work.

    http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/products/ps6120/products_tech_note09186a00807e0aca.shtml#overlap

    Solution, that you already know

    Solution

Always ensure that the IP addresses in the pool should be assigned to VPN, network clients internal head unit and the internal network to the VPN Client must be in different networks. You can assign the same major network with different subnets, but sometimes the routing problems.

    Thank you

  • ASA 5505 - remote access VPN to access various internal networks

    Hi all

A customer has an ASA 5505 with a remote access vpn. They are moving their internal network to a new regime and that you would be the users who come on the vpn to access the existing and new networks. Currently can only access the existing. When users connect to access remote vpn, the asa gave them the address 192.168.199.x. The current internal network is 200.190.1.x and that they would reach their new network of 10.120.110.x.

  • Remote access ASA, VPN and NAT

    Hello

I try to get access to remote VPN work using a Cisco VPN client and ASA with no split tunneling. The VPN works a little, I can access devices inside when I connect, but I can't access the Internet. I don't see any errors in the log ASA except these:

1 Jul 04:59:15 % ASA-3-305006 gatekeeper: failed to create translation portmap for udp src outside:192.168.47.200/137 dst outside:192.168.47.255/137
1 Jul 04:59:15 % ASA-3-305006 gatekeeper: failed to create translation portmap for udp src outside:192.168.47.200/54918 dst outsidexx.xxx.xxx.xxx/53

There is only one address public IP that is assigned to the external interface of DHCP. The Interior is 192.168.1.0/24 network which is PAT'ed to the external interface and the VPN network is 192.168.47.X.

I think my problem is that the net.47 is not NAT'ed out properly and I don't know how to put in place exactly. I can't understand how this is supposed to work since the net VPN technically provenance from the outside already.

Here are all the relevant config:

list of vpn access extended permits all ip 192.168.47.0 255.255.255.0
    Within 1500 MTU
    Outside 1500 MTU
    IP local pool vpnpool 192.168.47.200 - 192.168.47.220 mask 255.255.255.0
IP verify reverse path to the outside interface
IP audit info alarm drop action
IP audit attack alarm drop action
    ICMP unreachable rate-limit 1 burst-size 1
    ICMP allow all outside
    Global interface (2 inside)
    Global 1 interface (outside)
NAT (inside) 0-list of access vpn
    NAT (inside) 1 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0
    NAT (outside) 2 192.168.47.0 255.255.255.0 outside
static (inside, outside) tcp 3074 XBOX360 3074 netmask 255.255.255.255 interface
static (inside, outside) udp 3074 XBOX360 3074 netmask 255.255.255.255 interface
public static (inside, outside) udp interface 88 88 XBOX360 netmask 255.255.255.255
public static tcp (indoor, outdoor) https someids netmask 255.255.255.255 https interface

I can post more of the configuration if necessary.

Change ' nat (outside) 2 192.168.47.0 255.255.255.0 apart ' "NAT (2-list of vpn access outdoors outside)" gives these:

1 Jul 06:18:35 % gatekeeper ASA-3-305005: no group of translation not found for udp src outside:192.168.47.200/56003 dst outside:66.174.95.44/53

So, how I do right NAT VPN traffic so it can access the Internet?

A few things that needs to be changed:

    (1) NAT exemption what ACL must be modified to be more specific while the traffic between the internal subnets and subnet pool vpn is not coordinated. NAT exemption takes precedence over all other statements of NAT, so your internet traffic from the vpn does not work.

    This ACL:

list of vpn access extended permits all ip 192.168.47.0 255.255.255.0

    Should be changed to:

extensive list of access vpn ip 192.168.47.0 255.255.255.0 allow

    (2) you don't need statement "overall (inside) 2. Here's what to be configured:

    no nat (outside) 2 192.168.47.0 255.255.255.0 outside

    no global interface (2 inside)

    NAT (outside) 1 192.168.47.0 255.255.255.0

    (3) and finally, you must activate the following allow traffic back on the external interface:

    permit same-security-traffic intra-interface

And don't forget to clear xlate after the changes described above and connect to your VPN.

    Hope that helps.

    Hello

To be honest, I can't see anything in the configuration that should be a problem.

Your NAT settings seem to be correct.

You have the global setting of "sysopt connection permit - vpn" who does not appear in this form in the CLI configuration. This configuration means essentially that the SAA would allow traffic from a VPN connection to work around interface ACL of the interface when the VPN connection is completed (outside)

Your ACL Split Tunnel is also correct.

You might connect with VPN Client and run a continuous ICMP to a host of LAN and provide an output of the following command after a the ICMP has run a few seconds

    Crypto ipsec to show his

Should see the counters of VPN.

    You can also try adding

    management-access inside

This should allowed you to the 'internal' to the ASA IP ICMP and also manage ASA through the VPN connection by using the 'internal' the IP address provided you have enabled it. But for this you need to change the configuration of "nat" in this

NAT (inside, outside) static source inside obj obj-indoor destination static obj - vpn vpn-obj-research route

    Hope this helps

    Hello

I have previously edited the my initial response was in fact not necessary since you were actually using full Tunnel

EDIT: Actually just noticed the the VPN client isnt using Split Tunnel. Its Full Tunnel at the moment since it doesnt have the "split-tunnel-policy tunnelspecified"

So you don't really have any of those.

Please mark the question answers and/or assess response

  • Only way ASA Vpn access

    Hello:

I have configured ASA 5505 to acept Cisco VPN Clients on IP-SEC and access internal subnet of tuneling (added a rule exempt NAT too) and the VPN Clients can connect and work without problems.

But no internal network or the ASA I can ping or conect to the VPN Clients.

    My configuration:

    Internal network: 172.26.1.0 255.255.255.0

The VPN Clients network 172.26.2.0 255.255.255.0

    Can you help me?

    Raul,

I don't see to apply ACLs inside the interface or as vpn-filter that will prevent the PING of the SAA within the intellectual property to the VPN client.

Are you sure that the VPN client does not have the Windows Firewall on or antivirus software that prevents to respond to PING?

    Federico.

  • Cisco ASA, connect an IP address on the OUTSIDE of the VPN remote access

    Hello

I tried to find resources on the net but could not find a solution, then post it here. Maybe someone can help.

So the problem is that I'm trying to access a server on the cloud for remote VPN access (cisco asa 5510).

The server on the cloud (54.54.54.54) is only accessible from the outside interface (192.168.11.2) NY Firewall (cisco asa 5510)

I added some ACE for this in the ACL of VPN tunnel to divide.

    NY-standard host allowed fw # access - list vpn_remote-customer 54.54.54.54

And I see the road added to my cliet machine after the VPN connection, but still it cannot connect to this server.

The network INTERIOR, I can connect to the server.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

This is most likely a problem with NAT hair/U-turn hairpin.

Will need to see the configurations or you would need to check yourself

I don't know what your version of the Software ASA is to be like who determines what is the format of NAT configuration.

So far, you have confirmed that the ASA VPN configuration provides the VPN Client with the route to the remote server. Then in circulation should be tunnel to the ASA.

Then, you will need to check the output of this command

    See the race same-security-traffic

You should see the command in the output below

    permit same-security-traffic intra-interface

If you do not, you will need to add it. This effect of controls is to allow traffic to enter an interface and exit through the same interface. In your case this applies to Internet VPN Client traffic to the remote server as it between ' outside ' and spell through the 'outside'.

Then, should ensure that dynamic PAT is configured for the VPN Clients.

    8.2 software (and below)

You most likely have a dynamic configuration PAT like that on the firewall, if levels of above running software version

    Global 1 interface (outside)

    NAT (inside) 1 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0

In this situation if we wanted to add dynamic PAT for a pool of VPN, we would add

    NAT (outside) 1

This would allow users to use the same public IP address as LAN users, when accessing the remote VPN server

    Software 8.3 (and above)

Because the NAT configuration format is completely different in the latest software, you could probably just add a new configuration of NAT completely without adding a

    network of the VPN-PAT object

    subnet

    dynamic NAT interface (outdoors, outdoor)

Of course, its possible that there could be some configuration NAT already on the device which could cause problems for this configuration. If this does not work then that we would have to look at the actual configurations on the ASA.

    Hope this helps

Let me know how it goes

  • In the VPN 3000 concentrators network access problem

    Hello

I created a group user ID, allowing simultaneously 3 session of this particular ID, when I am session VPN initating this particular ID, I can connect to a single session with any problem, and I can access the internal network. simulatneously trying another session from another machine using the same user ID, I get the ip address of the VPN server's internal network, but I can't ping internal LAN server and perform operations .only I get the IP address. But I'm nt problem in first session created, they problem arrive for the second session

Are the next two sessions of the clients that are behind a NAT/firewall device? Try to create a second group ID and log in to the second client and the second. If you still have the problem is not a problem of "simultaneous session."

If you see the problem either, and your customers are both behind the same NAT device, have your clients connect from different locations or enable NAT traversal.

  • ASDM conc (ASA) VPN access

I have the script like this:

an ASA, which is the FW, TR making static NAT from the public to the private IP and private IP address add is add conc (another ASA) VPN. I am accessing these devices via the VPN client and I get the address IP of VPN pool set on VPN conc. VPN conc. is in a DMZ VLAN, but it also has connection to the local network segment. Purposes of mgmt, I connect to this VPN through SSH conc via a switch in the local network segment. To use the http access, I have to be on one of the servers that are in the local network segment. Since then, when I set up the VPN connection, I'm sure VPN conc., what can do to access http directly from my PC?

This sets up on the conc VPN:

    management-access inside

After that you should be able to use ASDM over the VPN tunnel, by connecting to its inside ip address.

(note, I assume the name of the interface connected to the LAN is named "inside", if not adapt at will )

  • ASA to remote access VPN with external IP dynamic

    Hi forum,

I was wondering if it was possible to set up an ASA to provide access to remote connections VPN (IPSEC or WebVPN/SSL) of the outside world, if the external IP address is dynamic (i.e. obtained through DHCP)?  I understand how to use DynamicDNS to provide a host name for the VPN clients, I ask simply if the SAA can be configured to allow VPN connections from a DHCP interface addressed.  I understand there are problems with the site to site VPN when both sides are addressed in a dynamic way, but it seems that the remote VPN access should work.  Just hoping to confirm this before I go and I'm working on a config.

    Thanks in advance...

    The same configuration applies.

In my view, that the only difference is that with the external IP being dynamic:

    interface e0/0

    IP address dhcp setroute

    crypto map

The only difference is that (the PCF file) VPN clients should have the VPN connection with a hostname (rather than an IP address) and the IP must be solved at the IPs of the SAA.

I'll try to find you an example configuration if you do not.

    Federico.

  • Device behind a Firewall other, ASA VPN

I have a client who wants to put their VPN / behind the ASA ASA main connected to the Internet.  Both devices have an inside leg for the internal network, but the ASA VPN connects directly to the Internet ASA.

    Topology:

Outisde FW: Internet transfer Procedure > ASA/FW > leg DMZ to ASA/VPN

ASA VPN: Outside the L3 Interface interface DMZ of ASA/FW link

On the outside NAT FW I would be the external address of the VPN / ASA outside the public IP address is available and I have a rule that allows all IP from outside to outside the private IP VPN.  Inside = 192.168.254.1 outside = public IP address.

Configured on the VPN / ASA, ASA standard SSL Remote Access.

When I hit the NAT public IP address, nothing happens.  I've run packet - trace on the FW outside, and everything seems good.

    Someone at - it a sampling plan / config for a similar topology?     Internet > ASA/FW > dmz-leg > ASA/VPN

    Thanks in advance,
    Bob
