Ask questions on possible fraud

I received a call from someone who says he's with Windows out of Dallas, TX.  He told me that germs and piracy of the malicious files are downloaded to my microsoft windows program, which could cause my computer down.  He says that his name is Mark.  He wanted me to turn on my computer - no internet - only computer that would show my cls ID #.  He would check the number to prove that it is legitimate.  When I asked for a phone number, he gave 121.444.64763.  I told Mark 64763 was too many digits for a U.S. phone number.   You have surgery in Dallas, Texas that would communicate with Microsoft Windows users like me?  How will I know if malicious hacking files are downloaded to my PC?  Can you help me?  My phone # 661.342.7015 Email: * e-mail address is removed from the privacy *.

First of all, he gave the number was probably 1.214.446.4763. The 1 is the access code to dial long distance. And Yes, 214 is an area code in Dallas.

Secondly, there are several standards cls numbers numbers, so it's just a way to give you a false sense of security and to earn your trust.

Thirdly, read this: http://www.microsoft.com/security/pc-security/protect-pc.aspx

Fourth, should under no circumstances let them take control of your computer to 'help '.
