Ask the suggestion for the installation of oracle 12 c standard edition

Hi all

I try to install 12 c standard edition on linux 6 for the first time...

Could someone please suggest with the necessary steps to proceed.

creation of user Linux, installation of the rpm, then installing the software...

any suggestion expertise is much appreciated...

Thanks in advance

Kind regards

Asking how to "get" oracle-RDBMS-server-12cR1-preinstall is not really logical. If you have a standard installation on the server to the latest version of Oracle Linux 6 update, all you have to do is:

# yum install oracle-RDBMS-server-12cR1-preinstall

RPM requires the configuration of standard yum string (oracle public yum) and the core Oracle UEK. Yet once again, the package does not contain software, but triggers the installation of the software based on the yum dependency checking.

It is best to follow the instructions in the Installation Guide, assuming you have a supported operating system version.

    See you soon

I had the same problem and that you run in the slide of Ray on how install Oracle on Snow Leopard. Pretty Ray's Web site was still linked directly from Oracle download site :) The key step for me was that the $ORACLE_HOME/bin/oracle binary is not OK and should be replaced. It can be downloaded from Ray. (I was a little nervous about downloading a binary executable, but Ray is directly related to Oracle if he has earned my trust.)
TADAAAA: dbca run flawlessly and now I can't system@orcl :))) sqlplus

It is a symptom of textbooks classic does not have read and followed the original instructions to prepare the downloaded files.  You should have two files zip files.  They both must be decompressed in the same directory.  If you unzip using Windows graphic interface - in right click on the name of the file and selecting "extract all...". "the default behavior will be to create a directory, the same name as the zip file and extract in it.  Thus, file_1_of_2 pulls in directory_1_of_2 and file_2_of_2 extracted in directory_2_of_2.  You must override this stupid behavior by default and specify the directory yourself.  And specify the SAME directory for both files.

Or just go to a command prompt, change directories to the directory where the two zip files are located and deliver "unzip " and "unzip ", and they will both be properly unpack to a directory named "database".

I want to install oracle in my server linux86-64 11.2.0.2 charges.
Do I have to install all the 7 patches for this task?

    It will be very useful

    Manish Subedi says:
    Hello
As you said that centOS is not tenable, but instead when I installed 11.2.0.1, it allows the installation of oracle without any error.
But when install us the patches of oracle11.2.0.2 on the same system, he throws the error: require 64-bit OS.
I think the installation is possible on centOS (64-bit).
I also recall that our server is linux86-64.

"not supported" does not mean that the installation will always be error power off. It does not mean that the product does absolutely not. It simply means there will be no support if you are having problems. It may or may not work, but if it does not, you're on your own.

If you have objections please let me inform.
Thank you for your support and hope for a response more than you all.

    Thank you

  • Regarding the Installation of Oracle BI Applications

    Hi all

I was going through the documentation for the Oracle BI Applications, probably the old version.

    I. DAC has previously been installed as one of the components as well as the installation of Oracle's Applications of BI?

Now, I have installed the Oracle BI Applications version 7.9.6.1. and the DAC is not installed with it. It is available in a package separate from the OTN site.

Old Documentation says: "DAC installation is part of the * Oracle BI Analytics installation *", referring to what is said: what I've learned, it's there:
    1. "infrastructure oracle installation.
    2. "installation of oracle BI Applications.
    3 "Installing Informatica Powercenter.
4 "Installation of DAC" in packaging separate.

II. what does mean by * "installing Oracle BI Analytics?" It is part of all above mentioned installation or a separate installation.

    Kind regards
    Anthony.

Correct, you must install it separately

Documentation of the olive TREE is not very good, there a lot of ambiguities like the one you quote.

You can use the Recovery Manager because it is a feature of Enterprise Edition. Instead, you need to restore manually archive the file of newspaper (which you sent above).
    The command is:

    QUESTION 1:

Can someone explain clearly what is happening exactly when "setting bash_profile?

Please note: this url says a lot of env variables

    http://www.idevelopment.info/data/Oracle/DBA_tips/UNIX/UNIX_4.shtml

    ORACLE_BASE = / u01/app/oracle

    QUESTION 3:

    * Are they [above mentioned variable env] needed (or) not necessary for oracle DB? *
To enumerate env variables, why they are not displayed? (something wrong)?

Learn how to look for things in the documentation is good time invest in your career. To this end, you should drop everything you're doing and do the following:

    Go to [url tahiti.oracle.com] tahiti.oracle.com.

    Explore your product and version.

    TO BOOKMARK THIS SITE

Spend a few minutes to familiarize yourself with what is available here. Take note special tabs "books" and "search". Under the tab 'books' (for 10.x) or the "Master books list" link (for 11.x), you will find the complete documentation library.

Spend a few minutes just know what kind of documentation is available by simply browsing the titles under the "Books" tab

Open the reference manual and spend a few minutes looking through the table of contents to familiarize yourself with what kind of information is available here.

Do the same with the SQL reference manual.

Do the same with the utilities manual.

Do not read the above in depth. These are reference manuals. Knowing that just getting here is to be referenced. Ninety percent of the questions on this forum can be answered in less than 5 minutes just looking for one of the books above.

Then, set a plan to dig deeper.
    - Read a chapter a day from the Concepts manual.
-Take a look in your alert log. One of the first things listed at startup is the parms of initialized with default values. Find out about each of them (shown in your alerts log) in the reference manual.
-Take a look at your sqlnet.ora, listener.ora and tnsnames.ora files. Go to the manual of network administrators and ask about what you see in these files.
    - When you have finished reading the guide to Concepts, do it again.

Give a man a fish and he eats for a day. Teach him to fish and he eats for a lifetime.

I want to install Oracle database 11 g 2 on Oracle Linux 6.3, but some packages are missing (.) RPM files).

    unixODBC - 2.2.11

    unixODBC-devel - 2.2.11

    and a little more.

Let me note that there is an Oracle Linux forum where you can get answers more quickly. (I'm linking this thread it mentioning what I guess)

Also I would suggest using the yum package manager and there is aoracle-rdbms-server-11gR2-preinstall package available which install all prereq packages...

  • The installer of Oracle Database 11 g: Administration Workshop I Ed 2 D50102GC20

It landed at me to set up a database of Oracle 11 g: Administration Workshop I Ed 2 D50102GC20 in environment OEL (Oracle Enterprise Linux).
Easier said then done when you're not fluent in Oracle.

Configuration guides distributed RESOURCES (D50102GC20_setup_doc) leave some hope when it comes to clarity.

"*" 13.     Create a script (for example, setupasm.sh) from the following commands, and then run the script to create the ASM disks: «*»

This urge to script to run the command "oracleasm', 'oracleasm' is not included in the standard installation of OEL and it is not included
in the installation guide either. I added the OracleASMLib:s I could find via [http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/linux/asmlib/index.html | http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/linux/asmlib/index.html].
which of course is not distributed for OEL openly but only for some RedHat Distributions.

To download OracleASM for OEL, an account of LSN is required, but I do not have an account.

+ "Getting ASMLib without a ULN subscription +".
+ While the pilot and support tools are on the Enterprise Linux installation media, the oracleasmlib RPM is not (this package allows Oracle to access the kernel driver). +

+ This package is available on the LSN. The LSN subscribers can use up2date (8) to download and install the package on their servers. +
+ Non-subscribers are free to use the similar package built for RHEL on their Enterprise Linux machines. +
+ New subscribers of LSN that happens to use the oracleasmlib package RHEL version are invited to update the package of LSN. » +

Here is a version of Red Hat does not support
    [http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/tech/linux/asmlib/rhel5.html | http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/tech/linux/asmlib/rhel5.html]

BUT, it is not a third party version of the kernel (Kernel 2.6.18 - 92.el5) naturally.

Any thoughts on the version that could be compatible?
When searching for this, I found this:

    Page 18:

+ "If you want to upgrade an existing Oracle ASM, then you need to upgrade Oracle ASM +".
+ by running an Oracle grid infrastructure upgrade. * If you do not have Oracle ASM + *.

Installation of network infrastructure all of a sudden? I don't know what to believe or think.

In any case, keep reading the installation instructions:

    * "14. Make sure the Oracle 11 g database ("database software and clusterware are staged in the following directories: ' *)

Clusterware? Clusterware is even part of the 11G? I failed to find it and read things like:

+ "After reviewing the documentation it became obvious that the Clusterware CD is now replaced by the new CD of grid Infrastructure 11 GR 2." +
    [http://www.itsarva.com/ittopicsblog/?p=338 | http://www.itsarva.com/ittopicsblog/?p=338]

I have my doubts. And is it supposed to be installed or just copied? English is not my mother tongue but "staged" language for me is open to interpretation and in both directions (installed <>- copied, resident)

Any help in this regard is appreciated!

Well Yes, this one is a bear. I wonder where you got the installation instructions. (Or... why you ask in the Forums.)

The instructions come from Oracle University Resource Center ([http://education.oracle.com/pls/eval-eddap-dcd/ou_ourc.new_home]) and the reason for posting me here is the official contact of Oracle that I cannot help me with support or whatever it is technical and cannot refer me to someone who can help.

Please have your Oracle contact talk to Don (responsible for the North American OR partner) put you and I in official contact.

I did the full install and can lead you through it. But in doing so in the forums is not appropriate.
