Hello

I'm looking for progressive oracle support, but I am unable to find a note that details install requirements of Oracle 11 g 2 database on 32-bit platform of windows server 2008. Anyone know where to find the requirements? I need so I can prepare the documentation available to migrate our database servers.

Thank you

  • Minimum RAM required for the installation of Oracle

As I am about to install Oracle 10 g on your laptop with 2 GB of RAM (PC is empty), I would like to know if 2 GB is enough. I ask because the Oracle documentation search, I noticed (maybe I'm wrong) for Oracle 10g, it is advisable to 1 GB minimum, 4 GB recommended while for Oracle 11 g, he advised 512 MB minimum, 1 GB recommended.
However, even according to your experiences, are 2 GB RAM enough to work? I remind you that I just have to work for junior DBA training activities and so my laptop will not be a real server for Federatzion a large amount of data.
I'll install this way Oracle Warehouse Builder, Oracle Developer Suite 10 g (forms and reports) and APEX which should be ' ' light enough.

It is a symptom of textbooks classic does not have read and followed the original instructions to prepare the downloaded files.  You should have two files zip files.  They both must be decompressed in the same directory.  If you unzip using Windows graphic interface - in right click on the name of the file and selecting "extract all...". "the default behavior will be to create a directory, the same name as the zip file and extract in it.  Thus, file_1_of_2 pulls in directory_1_of_2 and file_2_of_2 extracted in directory_2_of_2.  You must override this stupid behavior by default and specify the directory yourself.  And specify the SAME directory for both files.

Or just go to a command prompt, change directories to the directory where the two zip files are located and deliver "unzip " and "unzip ", and they will both be properly unpack to a directory named "database".

  • Utility to do validations/controls pre-required for the installation of R12?

Is there a utility of Meta Link that I can run to check if all the prerequisites are met for the installation of Oracle EBS R12 on Oracle Linux 5.8 32-bit?

What is the name of the utility?

    Best regards

    Hello

Regarding your checks of preinstallation of the original question, have look at GDR - health check / Validation Engine Guide (Doc ID 250262.1)

There are sets of different rules for different OS that you can use to check if all the conditions are met before installing

You can consult the mos note "R12.1.1: Installation of Oracle E-Business Suite and upgrade Lotus Notes version 12 (12.1.1) for Linux x 86 (Doc ID 761564.1)" and install the needed packages from your installation media (most of the packages are available on the installation media, oracle has provided a separate link for those not available)

If yum does not properly check out this (you are on 32 I doubt there is one for 32-bit)

  • Uninstalling Oracle 11 g RAC from a Windows Server 2008 Server

Try to uninstall Oracle 11 g RAC from a Windows Server 2008.

    Following the instructions: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/install.112/e25666/rem_orcl.htm

I was able to run the batch: C:\app\oracle\product > 11.2.0\dbhome_1\deinstall\deinstall.bat

    Last messages spoke uninstall successfully.

However, I had problems trying to delete the folder directory. According
Oracle forums, on Windows there are known problems this generic
"svchost.exe" process blocks some Oracle DLLs at startup time. To solve
the question that I followed the instructions:

    (1) rename %ORACLE_HOME%\bin to something else 2) reboot the machine 3) now remove the complete file

Then I went to the registry and delete the key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Oracle

    Restart the machine.

Problem is that Oracle Services still exists on Windows Services (services.msc). So I see it again:

    -Oracle Service object
    -OracleASMService + ASM1
    -OracleJobSchedulerINTER1
    -OracleOHService
    -OracleOraCrs11g_home1TNSListener
    -OracleOraCrs11g_home1TNSListenerLISTENER_SCAN1
    -OracleServiceINTER1
These services link to executable files are deleted as:

    C:\app\11.2.0\grid\BIN\TNSLSNR

because directory folder has been deleted.

What should I do to remove these Windows services?

    Hello

You can try the following command to remove services in windows server 2008

Since the prompt command (run as administrator)

Prompt > sc delete "service name".

In this case, your command would look like

Prompt > sc delete "Oracle Service object.

Let me know if it helps

    See you soon,.

  • Oracle 10.1.0.4 on Windows Server 2008 64 bit Standard

    Hello

For purposes of migratiion, we would need to install Oracle 10.1.4.0 on a Windows Server 2008 64 bit Standard and then update to 11 g.
We forced installation Oracle 10.2.0.4 on a Windows Server 2008 64-bit Standard, but we are not safe for 10.1.0.4.

Given that we do not have this version of the software to try it and we are looking for it, is it possible to install Oracle 10.1.4.0 on a Windows Server 2008 64 bit Standard?

Could you point me to a document referring to Oracle versions compatibility with Windows Server 2008?

    Thank you

At MOS, click the Certificates tab, and then enter the database in the first menu drop-down and select the RDBMS. Then enter the relevant information in other blocks, and then you will see the database Oracle 10.1.0.4.0 is not certified for Microsoft Windows x 64 (64-bit) 2008 R2

Certification is a little stricter than the support, but extended support ended in January.      REMINDER: First Support for Oracle Database 10.1 ends January 2009 [761713.1 ID]

There is always a lifetime support, but your case shows how useful that can be.
