ASM disk unavailable after reboot

Hello!

We have three discs in oracle asm CRS1, FRAVOL1 and RACDB1. Sometimes after restarting the server, the drives are not available. Allows you to redo the reboot and the drive appears. For example

orcl0: ~ # oracleasm listdisks
FRAVOL1
RACDB1

-restart

orcl0: ~ # oracleasm listdisks
CRS1
FRAVOL1
RACDB1

Should what log files I check to see the error message? How to solve this problem, do you have any suggestions?

Thank you.

Use ORACLEASM_SCANORDER = "map".

It should work.

  • ASM disks disappear after reboot Linux

    Hi all

I am trying to install a demo of OEL 5.3 dedicated Oracle 11 g with ASM on a laptop.
It is not a production configuration, I surely agree, but I hope it's good enough for the demo.
My problem is with the DSO and asmlib.
I went through the steps of the proclamation of disks asm (/etc/init.d/oracleasm createdisk ASM/dev/Vol...) and I can see the ASM disks via oracleasm listdisks.
Everything looks ok, until I restart the machine.
Then I can see is more disks (listdisks after scandisks) asm returns nothing, but the creatdisk fails.

So, I guess my disks were marked as a disc of the DSO.
But then, I wonder why I can't see in the list.

I probably went wrong somewhere, but I can't find where.

    No one to help?

Thank you very much in advance veru.

    G.

I came across the same sort of thing on RHEL 5.3.

    You will find documentation on metalink... document 558596.1 (https://metalink2.oracle.com/metalink/plsql/f?p=130:14:6282339176010950992:p14_database_id, p14_docid, p14_show_header, p14_show_help, p14_black_frame, p14_font:NOT, 558596.1, 1, 1, 1, helvetica)

Basically, in my version, I had to comment on this one line in /etc/udev/rules.d/90-dm.rules

    #KERNEL == "dm-[0-9] ' * ', ACTION =="add", OPTIONS += 'ignore_device'"

It is a newer version of EL/HR 5. If you have an older version, you can find it here: /etc/udev/rules.d/50-udev.rules
Same line should be placed in the comments here...

    Reboot after this change.

Only it solved for us... hope that helps.

  • Disc SSD data store unavailable after reboot

I have a Kingston SSD drive installed in a Dell T620 SAS (Controller H710) basket bottom. It is configured RAID 0 (disk). Therefore, it is OK, and I created a data store using the full disc. It works very well in the virtual machine that it is assigned to you. However, when I reboot and look in the configuration of the storage is not there. I can add and it remembers. The bad news is that the virtual machine, it is affected to cannot start as long as I add back in manually.

A look at the list of devices, it shows that mounted. The difference between it and other readers is it says unknown partition format, it also says non - ssd.

I'm just against a unit of failure in charge here? I do not see the SSD drives listed in the list of supported devices, but I hardly find this page.

    < small mug shot >

Why he let me a second hard drive configured to use the rest of a store of data and then not start because there is not enough room for the Swap and not remove the second disk hard when I tell him?

    < / small rant >

    Hi Lou

Why do not connect you to a port SATA (my last one)?

This seems to fix. Also, he appeared as an SSD and remembered all the stuff.

I guess it has to do with the SAS/RAID connection. Will try another drive to be sure.

Have a read of the default value and value MEMORY_TARGET & MEMORY_MAX_TARGET Minimum for ASM 11.2.0.4 and after (Doc ID 1982132.1)

  • El Capitan keyboard does not not after reboot

I have a Macbook Pro 13 inch with OS X El Capitan 10.11.6

After one of the recent improvements, I met a problem, if I take my mac, the keyboard and the trackpad to respond enough lag (if I constantly try to move the cursor, he'll have a time and then for like half an hour it will completely stop responding and after this the other repeats). It only happens after reboot and only on the login screen. So if I put my mac to sleep and then wake up, everything will work perfectly. Same thing if I managed somehow to connect, once the keyboard and trackpad respond correctly. The only button that works fine after reboot is the power button, but it doesn't help much, because it charges does not solve the problem somehow: as soon as the user selection screen, keyboard and mouse stops responding again (or should I say "start answering from time to time").

I saw lots of questions here on the keyboard does not not after waking up, but as you can see, this isn't my situation.

    Try again in Safe Mode.

Start up all by holding down the SHIFT key. It takes five minutes longer because it is a disk first aid on the way up, and you MUST provide your user name and password, even if you normally the automatic connection.

  • Not ready external hard drives after reboot

You have a weird question, or perhaps I should say one on that I can't find something. I've dealt with it for years and finally had enough of it. Rarely, I restart my Mac, do not need, is not something that happens often. But on the question.

I have an iMac of 2015, internal SSD, or merge, I suppose, and a couple of external hard drives attached. Both are 4TB readers, by USB (for backups) and FireWire (for data, applications, iTunes library, photos, etc.). Both work perfectly during normal use.

The question is when I reboot. My hunch is that these external drives are not fill their mental health checks / faster the drive internal system files, and when the OS is logged in, all the stuff on my external drives (in this case, my iTunes library) is not found. Of course, everything I do is point iTunes to the external drive and everything is fine (well, that and tell him where to find my wallpaper because it doesn't by default mountain landscape photo!).

So I'm wondering - is there a way to delay the start of the BONE or the final control until external drives are online? Not a huge problem, but why not. I'm tired of fixing stuff when I reboot. Or else, is something to not configured right and the cause? Hmm.

    What do you say?

Try to connect the external disk after reboot completed if he could climb.

  • Can not see my own account after reboot

After reboot I can only see the original user on my Mac + comments, but not the one I added.

The original is my wife so if it connects inn, first of all, I'm able to move my user by logging out (users obtained all visible) or by selecting my self in the menu to the left of the projector users.

Upgrade to 10.11.4 to see if there was a problem with 10.11.3 who was present when the account is added.

It's annoying to sort of not finding your own account and I wonder what's wrong.

    Anyone with an idea?

    Hello dusanofrode,

Thank you for contributing to the communities of Apple Support.

If you cannot connect to the original account on your MacBook Pro, looks that FileVault has been activated. It encrypts the bootable floppy and requires that the original to "unlock" before user other users can subscribe in their user accounts. I can see how that might be irritating in the circumstances, and I have a few suggestions to check the situation and helps connect you to your account a little more quickly.

To see if FileVault is turned on, connect to the user account of your wife and choose the Apple menu > System Preferences, click on Privacy & Security, and then click FileVault. You can find more information about FileVault in Use FileVault to encrypt on your Mac startup disk.

If FileVault is turned on, you have two possibilities to be able to connect to your user account to start.

    • "Activate" your user account to connect to start up the Mac. You can do it in the preferences of FileVault (located under Security and confidentiality in system preferences):

    Allow users

Click to enable users to log on at startup and unlock the encrypted information on the Mac. Users who are not enabled need an administrator to log on before you can use the Mac.

Of OS X El Capitan: FileVault pane of security & privacy preferences

    • Turn off FileVault:

When you turn off FileVault, the encryption is disabled and the contents of your Mac is decrypted. Decryption may take some time, depending on the amount of stored information. However, you can still use your Mac to perform other tasks while the information is that is decrypted.

    1. Choose the Apple menu > System Preferences, click on Privacy & Security, and then click FileVault.

    2. Click on the lock icon to unlock, then enter an administrator name and password.

    3. Click on turn off FileVault.

    4. Click on disable encryption.

Of OS X El Capitan: turn off FileVault encryption

    All the best.

  • If you use network storage, configure ASM disks with external redundancy groups

    Hi Experts,

If you use network storage, configure ASM disks with external redundancy groups. Don't use groups of Oracle ASM failure. Oracle failure groups consume cycles additional CPU and can run in unpredictable ways after suffering from a disk failure. When you use external redundancy, disk failure are transparent to the database and do consume no additional database CPU cycle, because it is discharged on storage processors.

    This does not mean

    • RAID 1 + 0 for diskgroup + REDO1
    • RAID 1 + 0 for diskgroup + REDO2
    • RAID 5 for diskgroup + DATA
    • RAID 5 for diskgroup + FRA

  • Resync ASM disk in 12 c

    Hello

Please can someone tell what is the difference between ASM resynchronization and consolidation of disk drive?

Are they different? If so, what is re-synchronization happens and when to rebalance?

    Thank you

Fast ASM disk Resync is used to recovery failure a failure to make temporarily unavailable group is considered transient failures.

As the disconnection of the cable, controller failures or interruptions of supply disk or host bus adapter current.

You just put a time (duration) where ASM Diskgroup will be to track all the changes up to recover this failure. If records are retrieved using the last State when, down disc Resync then update all the blocks on the disk recovered from survive failgroup.

If drive failure is not picked up within the window of time, records are automatically removed from the diskgroup.

The process of adding these drive broke diskgroup start the rebalancing process.

Resynchronization occurs when updating the out-of-sync disk track.

Rebalancing occurs when data are not balanced or when to add new disc on diskgroup.

    Hello

Unbalanced disc can cause the missing disk free space does not allow to make any allocation to a disk group because each file should be evenly distributed across all disks by ASM political stripping.

Configuration asymmetric discs and some operations on ASM disks can create this type of problem. Frequently, the problem must be resolved after a succesfull rebalance as much as all the drives have the same storage capacity, and there is no underlying hardware problem.
The most common reasons may be the following:

1 - the capacity of the disks within the ASM diskgroup are different
2 - ASM instance is shutdowned normal/immediate before rebalancing is complete.
    3-disc is a FALL / HUNG State
    4. after an order to add disk rebalancing is still in place

    You can also try:

    ALTER DISKGROUP FRA CHECK ALL REPAIR;

PS: Make sure you have these files on FRA was backed up somewhere safe.

  • Ping IP of ESXi host fails after reboot? Newbie

    VMWare ESXi 4.0.0 ReleaseBuild 171294 - HP ProLiant DL360 G4

The server turned craps so we got a used that even make and model and shared disks.  Now we cannot connect with the customer and we cannot ping, ping times out.  When we ping from the console we get inconsistent results, can ping ok, the first IP addy and then fails on the second ping, or it connects to the second IP addy, but fails to ping first that it resolve the hostname constantly.  We stopped and started the management network and Management Agents a couple of times but no joy.

I have the Articles KB 1008446 ping to the ESXi host IP fails after reboot, 1003490 restart the Management Agents on an ESX or ESXi Server and 1003677 Tech Support Mode of emergency support.

What must we do to recover the server to an operational state? If there is other information needed to help us please let me know.

And, what distro and version is ESXi 4.0.0 inspires?  I read that it is Redhat, but I couldn't find the version.

I have worked with Soloris, Linux and Aix over the years, so I am comfortable working from the cmd line if need be.

    Thank you

ESXi is not Linux. The VMkernel is VMware. The small console that runs the VMkernel is busybox. ESX has a VM management based on RedHat 5, but here again the VMkernel is all VMware.

I would check that the embedded NICs are working properly. Start with a linux rescue disk and test.

If all extracted would reset the system configuration from the yellow Console screen. Your configuration will be lost, but your machines virtual etc. will be OK. You will need to add to the inventory.

The output of alertrac2.log, we have seen disk group ASM is inaccessible. So my question is:

How to solve the problem of "ASM disk group is inaccessible" in the rac2 VM slave?

    Thank you.

    People,

Hello. Thanks much for the reply.

    Yes. I put the entry "SQLNET. AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES = (NTS)"input file sqlnet.ora.

    I ran the commands below:

    [ora11g@rac2 bin] $ pwd
    / u01/app/Grid/bin

    [ora11g@rac2 bin] $ ps - ef | grep pmon

    16219 ora11g 8602-0 12:29 pts/2 00:00:00 grep pmon

    [ora11g@rac2 bin] $

    [ora11g@rac2 bin] $ export ORACLE_SID = + ASM2
    [ora11g@rac2 bin] $. / sqlplus / as sysdba

As we see above shows the command $ ps - ef | grep pmon, my question is:

    First of all, are ' 16219 8602 ora11g 0 "process ID?

Secondly, we need to kill one by one? For examples: kill-9 ora11g? Kill-9 16219?

Laughing out loud. It's not the running process.
