  Folders.dbx is probably damaged.

  In Windows XP, the files of user OE (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder Options icon | Opinion, or in Windows Explorer. Tools | Folder options | View.

  The path to the message will be very similar to this:

  C:\Documents and Settings\Your User of utilisateur\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\ {long string of letters & numbers} \Microsoft\Outlook Express

  With OE closed, find the Folders.dbx file and delete it.  Another will be created automatically when you open OE.

  Note these possible side effects:

  When you re - start OE, it will build a new index of all *.dbx files it can read and create a new Folders.dbx. However, understand that you will lose the mail directory structure and message rules will probably have to be edited.

  Visit the website of your email provider and see if they have instructions to set up an account in Outlook Express.  They provide you with the appropriate settings.   Nobody here knows them, because they are specific to the e-mail provider.  So check with your provider of messaging on the correct settings to use for OE.

  Go into your account settings and change SMTP SMTP.  (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol).

  Thanks for posting on Microsoft Community. According to your description, it seems that you couldn't configure Gmail on Outlook and you receive error 0x800CCC0F. If I'm not mistaken you have Microsoft Outlook 2003 is installed.

  This happens usually when there are questions about the server. If you have not been able to set up the account successfully, I suggest you read this article that shows how to set up email on Outlook accounts.

  If you have configured the account successfully, but I could not send or receive e-mails, you go through this article which has troubleshooting for this issue.

  Hello, can anyone suggest a way I can open my outlook express 6.0 file Inbox that got compacted and now can not be imported in OE6 due to its size, if I could open it somehow I could then delete unwanted emails etc and then distribute the others in different subfolders so the inbow reached never this size again (which was approximately 5600 emails) , I want a free way to do this and am very disappointed that microsoft cant help me once reach the limit of the CAP? who would have thought that? I found a 3rd party software program (stellar phoenix outlook recovery) who can open it and I see that they ae here but it's a demo and I can't access or delete without registering. I think it of ridiculous and feel microsoft should provide a method without me palming off to third-party sites for a problem that their system has actually created... can anyone offer some constructive advise please?

  I have a free solution below, but you will lose all your messages saved in sent items. If you don't want to lose them, then you must rename the Sent Items.dbx Envoy Itemsold.dbx instead of delete it and then buy the software.

  Spend most of your messages out of the Inbox, and then create new folders to Outbox and sent items.

  Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.

  In Windows XP, Win2K & Win2K3 the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden.   When I get emails on outlook express I get a time-out before you finish download, and whenever I turn it on it the same thing happens. I have an email with a large attachment. I increased the time to receive the maximum of 5 minutes, but it will not download.

  You can access your email through your email provider's website?  This way you could delete it.  You can also set up a message rule that if a message exceeds a certain size (and which has a large number), and then delete it from the server.  But then, you won't know who it was, so what matters.  You can also telnet to the server and delete (see http://techhelp.santovec.us/pop3telnet.htm).

  Had the same problems with 6 Ff. 1/4 to 1/3 of the pages take forever to load. Sometimes I can make by highlighting the URL and pressing Enter. Sometimes the activity indicator turn right and pirouettes and page never loads. Mark-up appear sometimes where the images should be. Home of the New York Times, for example, partially supported (some missing images) but the links to take forever.

  Open the topic: config page through the address bar and do a search for network.http via the filter at the top of the about: config page.
  
  You can reset all network.http associated prefs which appear "BOLD" (user set) via the context menu to their default values.

  It is generally not a good idea to change these preferences, and these changes can have the opposite effect, by activating especially pipelining for servers that do not support this feature.
