At the same time index rebuild...

OK, so I have a question that has puzzled me a bit. I think I understand the theory, but I am not convinced, so looking for 3xp3rt thoughts.

I have the following table with the indexes following:

Departments of instance name table Name Index
AWESOME_DETAIL 20 1 AWESOME_DETAIL_B8

The table itself has a DEGREE of 2 BODIES 1 value.

What is happening is when the following is executed:

ALTER INDEX REBUILD AWESOME_DETAIL_B8.

the table is read in series, despite the index with a DOP of 20. However, when we do the following:

ALTER INDEX REBUILD PARALLEL OF 20 AWESOME_DETAIL_B8

The table is read with the parallelism and the treatment is faster (no surprise on the second part).

When the index is rebuilt with the first statement, the degree of parallel remained unchanged at 20. If we run the second statement, and the index have had a degree of parallelism of the 2, then I expect the degree of parallelism of the index itself will be replaced by 20 (because I've seen this before).

Is this expected behavior? Is the first statement saying Oracle "Hey, this rebuild operation does not have parallel" and the second statement saying: 'Hey, I'm specifying options of storage here, my friend, do in parallel of 20'.

Essentially, the first statement is a pure DDL operation and the second statement is a DDL operation with storage options, where the change? And DDL operations ignore the declaration of principles on the subject, unlike, for example, a SELECT statement.

I tried with a DISPLACEMENT of ALTER TABLE and saw the same behavior: without specifying PARALLEL in my statement, it read the table in series. When I specified PARALLEL, it read the table in parallel.

Mark

When you specify PARALLEL creating / REBUILD / MOVE, the degree is used for the C/R/M. it is always "in place" for all the readings (and will be used in DML If ALTER SESSION ACTIVATE PARALLEL_DML has been paid).
However, the degree of PARALLEL set of the GET on the table / index is not automatically reused for the next RECONSTRUCTION/MOVE (although the degree that has been set remains!)

Is the first statement saying Oracle "Hey, this rebuild operation does not have parallel" and the second statement saying: 'Hey, I'm specifying options of storage here, my friend, do in parallel of 20'.

Yes, precisely.

See http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11882_01/server.112/e17118/clauses006.htm#g1058315

NOPARALLEL
Specify NOPARALLEL for serial execution. It is the default value.

  • can I exclude statistics and index both at the same time

    Hi people,

I do big table re-organization, so my question is can I exclude statistics and index at the same time

I am planing this activity as below, please advise me if I'm wrong.

    (1) create table xx_031114 in select * from xx;   (it's like the precautionary measures)

    (2) export the table xxx using its owner the user yy

    yy/passwd@tnsnames = DIRECTORY expdp export DUMPFILE = xx.dmp = xx LOGFILE = xx.log tables

    (3) to truncate the table or drop table

    SQL > truncate table xx;

    SQL > drop table xx;

    (4) import the table with metadata without statistics & index as below

Impdp yy/passwd@tnsnames DIRECTORY = export statistical DUMPFILE = xx.dmp = xx = exclude TABLES, index CONTENT = METADATA_ONLY LOGFILE = imp_031114.log (import only meta data without statistics & index)

Question 1: can I exclude the statistics and indexes at once?

Impdp yy/passwd@tnsnames DIRECTORY = export of TABLES DUMPFILE = xx.dmp = xx CONTENT = exclude LOGFILE = imp_dataonly_031114.log index = DATA_ONLY (import data only without index)

Impdp yy/passwd@tnsnames DIRECTORY = export of TABLES DUMPFILE = xx.dmp = xx include = index (import only indexes)

2 question: can I import the indexes only as above?

    Thank you and best regards.

    Younus

for your question: you use the exclude options separate to exclude indexes and statistics

    Question 2: directory of the user/password impdp dumpfile you_dir = your_dump = include = INDEX

    Hope this helps

  • Z51 LENOVO MOUSE AND KEYBOARD NOT WORKING ONLY NOT AT THE SAME TIME

I know this question has been asked before, but these solutions do not work for me.

I just got my new Lenovo z51 80k60030us and I quickly put a game on it just to test the waters. has worked well. However, I can't move (using the keyboard) and look around (using the mouse) at the same time. I looked everywhere on the internet and realized that it was something to do with the 'follow-up to the Palm trees", but nobody has the solution for my specific problem of keyboard and mouse. When I try and change the options of the mouse on lenovo, it is grayed out. I tried everything to ungray it, but I have yet to succeed. help please?

  • At the same time entered into a local variable of a digital control while maintaining control.

    Hello world

I'm quite new to Labview please bear with my lack of technical terms. I also want to apologize in advance if this topic has already been discussed somewhere in the forum.

I'll try to be as brief as possible - I will use Labview for controlling the speed of a DC by PWM motor and want to simultaneously have 1.) control button which allows me to vary the PWM (0-255), and 2.) be able to 'fix' the value of the command using the indexed values.

To better illustrate this point of view please the VI attached. When you run the code what I can do is change the value of the control by using the indexed values. So going back to my question - what changes should I make to the code in order to have the choice of using 1.) (and 2.) at the same time?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

After extensive research on the structures of the event and property nodes, I finally found a solution.

Is attached the working version of a button control that can be further manipulated by a secondary control, but still maintain it's own control capabilities (IE not the substitution or the line of the error stream)

I hope that someone in the future will find this useful!

  • ASM will support Extern and up at the same time?

I'm confused.  If we have a group of redundant San who maintain the ASM disk group and our type is set to Extern, we put our confidence in snapshots, replication, and so on in the hands of the SAN.

Can you have Extern and high?  You can have ASM diskgroup that lies on the SAN but too high?

If you can not, then if you raised, and these starts on the SAN, what's the difference?  Are not often required database on a San with a server on the front-end server?

ASM diskgroup redundancy and redundancy SAN are not the same and work completely different. You cannot use extern ASM and redundancy high at the same time.

A San doesn't know anything about Oracle database files and redundancy is usually accomplished in RAID. ASM is not RAID and does not duplicate complete records. ASM data redundancy is based on failure of disk groups and file extensions. ASM knows by the way of the Oracle database files and automatically adjusts the deletion of data, which does not have a SAN. ASM has also the advantage of the storage size can be adjusted dynamically when the storage is online, without having to rebuild your storage devices. Rebuild or expand a SAN solution based RAID usually means to reset the storage.

Beware of the features of snapshot and SAN replication because they cannot provide full backup or redundancy if you lose the full storage.

    Makes your onclick javascript.

To fix it, you really need to use one or the other. I'm not suggesting the use of javascript to open the windows because users have different levels of pop-up blockers. target = "_blank" is not blocked by the people.

In addition, each file .swf on your site is invisible to a very large part of mobile device users.

  • Random table and present several elements of the array at the same time

    Hi all

I figured out how to randomize an array and present the items where the user can scroll through the items one at a time. However, I would like to know how I could go for the presentation of the elements of a random array at the same time. To be concrete, suppose I have a list of three words that is Word 1 and Word 2 Word 3. For each user, I'm looking for present all three words on the screen at the same time, but in a different order. If a person can see it on the screen:

    WORD 1

    WORD 3

    WORD 2

    and someone else could see

    WORD 3

    WORD 2

    WORD 1

Pointers or guides are appreciated. Thanks for reading.

You say that you already know how random the table, so I won't go into that. Assume that you already have 3 TextFields on screen and called tf1, tf2 and tf3. You didn't say if you use Classes or script code. I'm not a big fan of code of script in AS3, so I'm not good at writing of examples in there. The example here assumes that the class code. It also assumes

    1. You have ' declare stage instances to automatically "off
    2. TF1, tf2 and tf3 exist in all frames of the timeline of the MC that uses this class.

  • How can I change font family of all titles at the same time?

I used the first cs 6 to add some titles be subtitles, but I need to change the font family, how to change their entire family of fonts at the same time? Thank you

You can not.  For now, it's both.  But it would be nice if the PP had a kind of this feature of type CSS, where you can set fonts, sizes, colors, etc. in one 'preset' and have these parameters to ripple through all titles of the project whenever the preset has been changed.  Please tell Adobe you want such a feature.

  • Not a BufferedReader and BufferedWriter a be open at the same time?

    For the experienced:

I write a class to selectively extract data from an Excel file and write in a plain text file. I use JDeveloper 11.1.1.3.

It works very well and writes the output as expected file when reading data from the spreadsheet and write directly to the output file.

However, I need to convert data in one column based on a conversion table. The conversion table is a text file that has two columns separated by a space. I read in the conversion table using a BufferedReader and put it in a hash table to use. However, once the buffered reader and the hash table are introduced, the BufferedWriter does no more work.

How the class works are the main() method (not shown here) reads the data from the Excel sheet in a list and then calls the method showExcelData() (as illustrated below) to write the data to the list in a plain text file.

When the green color code has not been added, the output file was written on the drive end. An example of the output file line is:
    JOHN:DOE:11223344:12345:20110824
By adding the Green code, I expect the output of the line as:
    JOHN:DOE:11223344:STUDENT:20110824
The problem is, after the Green code is added, the output file, the program writes to the disk's size zero.

I added the lines of System.out.println () for troubleshooting. These lines indicate that the BufferedWriter < b > on < /b > is not null, and the conversion is actually underway. But out.write (< b > < /b >) just doesn't work. Commenting on the Green code, the program works again - of course without conversion of the date of this column.

There must be something wrong, but I don't see where it's a mistake.

    Your help is very appreciated!

BufferedWriter is, uh, buffered so that you won't see the effect of write() immediately, maybe not until you close the file.

You don't need to open this file to reference and build the card anywhere again for each line. Out of the loop. And you're not close every time you open it, which could cause other problems... and finally you seem to be ignorant of the exceptions. Never do this. You have not actually need the reader and the writer open at the same time, even if this isn't the real problem here.
