Auto Import: why LR passes the imported file to 'Auto imported photos "?
If I put a picture in the control folder, why duplicate in another folder? After importing, I seem to have the photo image file in two places.
She should move (do not copy) from the folder of control to the destination folder. Can you provide a screenshot of your auto import settings?
Also confirm your permissions of the watched and the destination folders. I bet you need read/write on the control record must be able to move because it is essentially the removal after copying. But I expect some kind of error message in this case.

Desktop: Windows XP 32-bit Home Edition. Laptop: Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit.
I have a DVD I paid for and used a software to copy video clips (unprotected) to mpeg2 files. There are 4 of them. It was a DVD recorded in 2004 at a dance event. It is not a commercial version.
XP: The 1st clip allows me to open it in Windows Media Player 11 and I can drag autour in various places to look at different times of the clip. The clip of 2nd, 3rd and 4th are locked and won't let me pick different times to watch. They will play through.
In Vista: I can't the cursor around anywhere, then select any time to look into all parts of clips with THE 4 clips.
I took the clips, put them on a USB stick, moved in both sense between each system. I tried two more than once.
I used the software to rip the clips on XP and Vista. It's the same result. The fault seems to lie with XP.
Perhaps some of this DVD had some kind of protection against copying for XP but not Vista (and other OS of potentially). Or it's the encoder?
My account has been locked or something, I couldn't answer.
It is therefore probably encriptación with Windows Media player. I can read files with RealPlayer on Windows XP and Vista in Windows Media Player.
Tried to use my software for video editing, re - export files in mpeg2. But each of them had sound problems. So, this is how the DVD is probably protected.
I have something on Vista operating systems and a workaround with XP using RealPlayer for the original files. I'll keep looking. It's mine to archive all I want at this stage.

For .ai files, you will need to use or know someone who uses Illustrator or another program compatible .ai to convert. If you access a page of image details before license you can see the file type.

How do you keep Windows automatically passing the entire file name when editing?
When I copy a file to a folder and rename the file, that I right click once on the file name to select it and again to place the cursor where I want to change the name in the name of the original file. However, until I'm able to start typing the computer automatically highlights the entire file name, so that when I start typing deletes the original file name and replace it with what I typed. Is there a way to avoid this and allow me to change the name of original rather than delete it and start from scratch?

Why LR doing the bigger files?
I know this may seem a stupid question when I get the right answer :-)
I just noticed that when I click on edit in Photoshop from LR (last CC) (16mp fuji raw file), the file opens in the PS as a 94 MB (4896x3264@300dpi) file, but if I open the same file directly in the cab and the PS, the file is only 45.7 MB exact same dimensions and dpi.
What is going on. I've been playing with this trying to figure out for the last hour and can not see what is happening.

That's how it is supposed to work.
See when you open a file from Lightroom to Photoshop, it opens as tiff or psd (what ever you have set the preferences) and depending on the size of the file, I can guess it's 16-bit tiff, 300 dpi.
Change from 16 bits to 8 bits and the file size will be reduced to half.
You can check it in Lightroom - preferences - surface-mounted.

Why LIGHTROOM changes the DNG files on it s own?
I noticed this quite a while and it s annoying as hell when you have an automated backup process.
LR regularly DNG files... and LR changing again and again DNG files.
This means that files that are modified yesterday are perhaps changed again today.
I've noticed this with all versions of LR4.x and also LR5.
so I just create a catalog from TEST to test.
I Don t change anything on this catalogue of test images.
all I do is open the catalog and browse the files and allow the LR open and idle for some time.
and guess what... my DNG (and only the DNG files) files are constantly changed for no apparent reason.
to check what has changed in the DNG files I use exiftool and this is the result:

DNG files are in the LR catalog for months or years (not in the test catalog but my catalog of actual work).
DNG files are not affected by me (no changes are made in the LR modules, no new keywords or metadata changes etc.).

I don't use DNG files with any software then LR. I have not the same seen in another program.

even with regard to my graphic problems... I send a sample file of adobe... they write in return that the mistake could be reproduced... and 5 point later the error is always in LR.
I do not use the DNG file format, but tried a test DNG file and could not resume this problem on my 64 bit Windows 7 using LR4.4.1 System. I checked the InstanceID by using EXIFToolGUI and he only changed when you do a CTRL + S save metadata in the file. Simply navigate the image in the library module or develop as well as other images in the same folder has NOT caused the InstanceID to change. I also did a search on 'DNG write metadata' in the Photoshop family forum and only found this post regarding the behavior of CTRL + S with DNG files:

If what you say is true, I believe there are many posts complaining about the issue. I have no doubt this problem, but logically it should happen only if somehow a CTRL + S or ' save metadata to File command is get called.
Maybe send a file and we can test it on our systems. Please provide some details on the procedures of LR you use that causes the InstanceID to change with this file. Do not assume that we understand what you are doing!

Why not remove the program files for the programs that I have removed from my computer?
I deleted the AVG Internet Security on my computer. Under my program files, there is still a case for moy. My computer won't let me remove it. It says "cannot delete avgcgfx.dll: access is denied, check that the disk is not full or write protected and that the file is not currently in use." It is not used because I deleted it. This is not the first time that I could not delete a folder. What is the solution and why is it?

Why not delete the archived files of creative cloud
Hello everyone,
I had a problem with my creative cloud application. No matter how many times I delete these folders 'archived', that they synchronize every now and then back to my computer.
To avoid this, I completely erased my web creative cloud - and disk space. Somehow, these cases keep appearing on my computer using loads of disk space. They do not appear on my space Web archive.
Anyone who deals with this kind of problem again give me a tip what to do?

How to prevent the .aliases file
Hello
I'm working on several requests for VISA/RS232 based. Each project is a file auto-obtient with an extension .aliases.
This .aliases file typically includes information specific to the host as a local IP address. Example:
[Mein Computer] Mein Computer=192.168.1.123 [My Computer] My Computer=localhost
Although this information might make sense on my local development system - they don't make sense for sure if they are auto-copié to other clients (which could be found in other networks/places) - at least if these applications do not use some resources shared on the network - which I use at all.
So my main question is:
(a) is it possible to prevent these automatically generated files .aliases?
Side issues:
(b) why this file is at all out of the box?
(c) is there a kind of information to other information available about these .aliases files?
Background:
I don't like the idea of spreading useless (I guess it's useless in my case - app) files with my Installer. These local ip addresses stored in the alias file will probably not any real function if they are not allowed in the structure of the local network & software use case... which is probably pretty specific to each new case.
Any help is appreciated
I do not understand why you include the .aliases file with your Installer. I do not include this file, or any project, when I build my Installer and then it does not install files that do not need to be installed.

How can I select in the library just JPG or simply the ARW files?
I always shoot RAW and JPG formats.
Often after a shoot, I'll choose a few images that I want to work in RAW and intend to keep in RAW; but some of the others I would just leave in JPG format to take less space and delete the RAW files (these are usually + photos of snapshot type I always want but won't use for anything meaningful except memories). I don't see a way to easily except outside of Lightroom in Windows Explorer, but then it messes up the catalog isn't?

In the library, the grid view module:
- Make sure you have the Show filter bar (view > show filter bar, hotkey "------")
- "Click: metadata" in the center of the filter bar.
- In one of the columns, hover over the title until you see the double arrow and click to open a list of things that you can use to filter.
- Choose 'file Type '.
- Click on a type of specified file to filter on this type. You can select more than one by clicking Ctrl/Cmd.
- When you are finished, click on 'None' at the top to remove the filter.

I'm not an apple person. I read on a few different forums that apple has changed what is called 'writing' in a recent update to apple. You may need to find an Apple expert to show you how to make sure you are allowed to write to files or locations on your computer.
