  I use a HP OfficeJet 8600 and impossible to find a way to set the default print by application options.   I understand that when Windows printing software in memory settings for Word and Photoshop.  On the side of the things Mac, you will need to make the preset and choose it every time.  You may just be better to choose a quick project for Word and photo paper for Photoshop as you say.  The software in the Mac won't remember automatically.

  You cannot automatically close Adobe application.

  Whenever you print any file by right-clicking, it opens the default application for this file. There is no way the application closes automatically.
