Automatic update of Firefox 30.0 to kill?

How to disable the automatic update of Firefox 30.0?

So how do it manually?

(I HATE surprises in the morning followed by FF browsers on 4 laptops, troubleshooting)

Thank you...

(Lion 10.7.5)

You can go into the settings in the section advances, update, select «check for updates, but let me choose to install» Note that faster you apply an update, the better.

I just noticed that some sites say that the automatic update of Firefox is a security risk and I was wondering if it was true

No, it isn't. people work to update firefox to make it better and safer. and most recent version allows to block the pulgin in any page and indicates same elem in a secure page. It therefore becomes safer. Security risk may be running plugins such as java, shockwave etc so only run on trusted sites.

  • Disable automatic update of Firefox on Gnome 3, Fedora 15

The Fedora 15, using Gnome 3, I'm unable to disable automatic updates for Firefox, I am only able to disable automatic updates for the modules and the search engines.

Maybe you got a modified version of Firefox. Preferences, chrome, js or anything that may have been changed.

If the job requires you to develop on certain versions, and you make it on this computer, why not install multiple copies of Firefox, including the required versions. I'm sure that the required versions are currently supported versions. at the moment it is 3.6, 6, 7, 8 or 9

You must ensure that you use multiple profiles, so each has a unique profile.

For the problematic firefox current 6 do a clean install, remove the original program files, but not the profile files. (or possibly an additional installation in a location custom with a new profile - this allows you to retain the current firefox 6 and a firefox standard 6) Profiles can be cloned/copied if necessary, bookmark libraries are accessible from the other versions/profiles if necessary and several versions can be run simultaneously. (I speak from a point of view of Windows, but it is unlikely that Linux will differ)

I find research protect and Optimizer Pro on many systems that I fixed, and I've isolated it's to proceed with the installation as a free add-on to another program, and they all seem to have Mozilla Firefox...

When the automatic update occurs, it is install anything beyond Firefox?

If so, and if it's the research installation protect or Optimizer Pro, please stop it immediately. These programs lead to the "FBI Virus" that has been updated this year to contain the virus 'Homeland Security '... Research Protect finally installs Optimizer Pro, so if someone tries to uninstall it, through normal means, it installs or launches the rendered useless computer virus.

These modules have become a headache for the customers as a whole and has been a concern for me, for fixing their computers...

The software update in Firefox installs only the updates to Firefox whether partial or full depending on the circumstances, you have missed an update. The heel and complete installation for Windows of www.mozilla.org only is Firefox as nothing extra is installed either a toolbar or to a separate application.

Firefox becomes one of the list less apps that comes with anything on Windows, Mac OSX or Linux.

At least this time Firefox has not tried to change my home page from the one I chose to the Google search page. I can search in the toolbar if I want; I don't need Firefox to open the Google search page.

  • extremely slow after the automatic update of Firefox 7.0.1. is there something wrong with how works the automatic update?

It takes a long time for each time I try to go to a new page. the browser crashes just for awhile. It started after that Firefox auto update 7.0.1.

    Try this

    Type in the address bar

    Subject: config

    Accept the warning.

On the page that appears, in the filter box, type

    Network.http.Max - connections

Replace the value 32 (which is probably the value 256 in your case).

    Close this page.

    Restart the browser.

  • Why don't the automatic update to my Firefox always hang up when it verifies compatiblily with my addons?

Towards the end of an automatic update of Firefox, the program opens a dialog box that says that it is to check the compatibility of the new version with my addons. He also mentioned that I be patient, the process may take several minutes. The process continues without normal ending, and I have to use Windows Task Manager to stop it. I have let it run the form as long as 35 minutes, but it's never complete the process. This has happened for each automatic updates of last 3 or 4. What is going on?

It is possible that there is a problem with the files that store the registry extensions.

Delete the files (extensions.sqlite, extensions.ini) extensions.* and compatibility.ini in the profile folder of Firefox to reset the extensions registry.

New files will be created if necessary.

    See "extension corrupted files:

If you see disabled extensions or is not compatible in ' Firefox/tools > Modules > Extensions ' and then click the Tools button, on the side of the left end of the search bar to check if there is an update available compatibility.

If this did not help, then also delete the addons.sqlite file.

  • Can not stop auto update latest firefox version

    Hello

I googled a lot of answers about stopping the automatic update of firefox. But unable to do it and not be able to use the functionality offered in the context of the browser. I have to do this deliberately to have my selenium framework support the static browser version like every last updated maybe not having a ready selenium supported server.

I did what follows, but not luck.

    (1) tools-> Options-> advanced-> update-> Set to "never check...". ». After reboot, the option is set to "automatically install...". ».
    (2) in the about: config-> set the following as below:

    ----- app.update.url = null
    ----- app.update.url.details = null
    ----- app.update.url.manual = null
    ----- app.update.mode = 0
    ----- app.update.silent = false

But still when I go to-> Firefox; Updates automatically start the download.

Is there a solution to stop the auto-update feature and I would like to download/upgrade to update firefox by me manually. Why build it in function does not work?

Am on company Win7 64-bit Service Pack 1.

"But still when I go to-> Firefox; Updates automatically start the download. "

This isn't the automatic update, causing the update - it triggers a manual update when you open Firefox. At least until this was changed in Firefox 37.0

IMO, when using selenium, you would be better served by using the version of ESR (Extended Support Release) of Firefox. He receives an update of major version of each 8 quick release version updates. You receive security updates without the major version change, and without receiving all of the new features like the release of versions have. ESR is intended 'institutional', but there is no ban on regular users by using ESR.

  • What Windows settings or services likely to affect Firefox automatic update?

Automatic update works do not is a common problem but in my case, the culprit is probably not on the side of Firefox Firefox. I suspect this due to the fact that I can't upgrade almost any of my programs installed if they were launched during a session before the session is disconnected.

The thing is I disabled a number of Windows services and I see this behavior for probably as long as I use this configuration optimized. Here is a list of my services system as well as their boot options and the State.

I'm pretty sure I found the culprit at the service of the experience of the Application. Apparently if you have disabled Windows locks the particular executable in an overzealous manner.
