Automatic update of Windows Vista (SP2) stuck on 13 06:24 hours. Why do long?

I went to close my PC (Vista SP2).  Ago automatically updates waiting for loading.  Off, the PC shows that there are 24 updates to download and do NOT close or disconnect my PC.  After six hours, he is still blocked in 13 of the 24 updates of loading.  It seems stuck.  I'm afraid that I may damage if I unplug and make a hard stop.  Why is it so much to take?

Hello Johnny Rad.

Thanks for your post.  Did you finally reboot your computer?  If so, you know different issues?  Please let us know.

  • Impossible to update Microsoft Windows Vista SP2

I have a laptop that is running Windows Vista Service Pack 2 from Microsoft yet. I have not started the laptop for almost a year and I understand that the operating system is no longer supported. I'm just trying to get all the other updates carried forward after November 13, 2015. The update of Windows seems not to be able to get updates or is suspended. In the past when Windows XP support ended, I was still able to update the o/s to the last update available for the well type beyond a year after. I don't see why I can't still not updated for Windows Vista SP2.

I need constructive responses to solve the problem and not the usual, "my computer is old and needs to be upgraded or replaced", remarks. I don't have the funds to keep the upgrade for the latest and best. The laptop, I always work and if I have funds or if I know that it can smoothly run Windows 10, I could upgrade the o/s.

    Follow these steps: Install KB3078601, KB3109094, KB3145739, KB3164033, KB3168965 and KB3185911 manually. Download links:

If you go to programs and features, and then on the left side you should see a link for "Daily display installed."  Which would then show the list of updates with the State which will show you if it failed or not.

I suggest you follow these steps:

Method 1: See if you can view another Web page

To do this, follow these steps:

    Start Internet Explorer.

In the top of the browser address bar, enter one of the following addresses:

    http://www.Microsoft.com

    http://www.MSN.com

    http://support.Microsoft.com

If you do not receive a similar error message after entering one of these addresses in the address bar, contact the owner of the Web site where you see the problem. The website is maybe temporarily unavailable or other problems.

If you receive the same error message, go to the next method.

Method 2: Run the Network Diagnostics tool in Internet Explorer

To do this, follow these steps:

Start Internet Explorer, and then try to access the Web page that displays the error message.

On the page that displays an Internet Explorer error message, click diagnose connection problems . The Network Diagnostics tool will run. When the tool has finished, it will notify if you one of the following results:

    Start Internet Explorer.

If you receive the same error message, go to the next method.

Method 3: Use the delete browsing history

If resetting the modem or the router has not resolved the problem, delete your browsing history might help. Follow these steps to delete your temporary Internet files, history and form data:

    Internet Explore 7

    Start Internet Explorer.

On the Tools menu, click delete browsing history .

Select the check box next to Temporary Internet files .

Select the check box next to the history .

Select the check box next to form data .

    Internet Explorer 6

    Start Internet Explorer.

On the Tools menu, click Internet Options .

In the Temporary Internet files section, click delete files and then click to select the text box delete all offline content , and then click OK .

In the history section, click clear history , and then click Yes .

Close Internet Explorer and restart Internet Explorer, and then try to access the Web page.

If you receive the same error message, go to the next method.

Method 4: Use the Internet Explorer (No Add-ons) mode

To do this, click Start , point to programs , point to Accessories , point to System Tools and then click Internet Explorer (No Add-ons) .

Note The Internet Explorer (No Add-ons) mode is only available for Internet Explorer 7 and Internet Explorer 8.

If this resolves the problem, follow these steps to isolate the browser add-on that is causing the problem:

Click Tools and then click Internet Options .

Click on the programs tab, and then click Manage Add-ons .

Click an add-on in the name list, and then click disable .

Repeat step 3 until you identify the add-on that is causing the problem.

  • Update for Windows Vista Edition family may 12 Premium taking hours to install

    Hello
I use Windows Vista Home Premium on a Sony VAIO VGN - SR 190.  When I went to shut down my computer today (13 May 2009), I clicked on the icon that said he was going to install updates and then turn off the computer.  I did this several times in the past without problem.  Now the computer screen showed 'Installing Update 1 of 5...' for the last 3 hours.  This set of updates does take really too long?  Is there's something screwed up with my computer and I turn it off manually, how that will affect the update?  Will my jet computer when I turn it back on?  Thanks for any help on this!
    -Steve M

    Hi Chris,

Thanks a lot for all of your helpful information.  I finally just manually turned off the computer, restarted, then clicked on the icon that says this install updates and then turn off the computer, and this time it worked fine.  It is not uncommon for my computer display the 'Shutting Down' and never stop (in this case), so it was probably the same is going on here except that Vista tried to install updates.  Thanks again for your help.

  • Windows Vista is stuck in Mode without fail after Windows Automatic Update 17 Oct.

Including all the details, I can:
I have Windows Vista Ultimate on my Velocity Micro,
    Pro Magix E2230
    Intel (r) Core (TM) 2 CPU 6700 @ 2 .66GHz 2.67 GHz
With 2.00 GB of memory a 32-bit operating system.

I was working to test a program Oct. 17 and the automatic update of windows, kicking. I let it do its thing and leaves the room. When I got home and booted up my computer, he was stuck in safe mode.
I looked for help via the windows itself, nothing seemed appropriate.
I tried several solutions, I found online as well as nothing has worked.

    Options, I tried:
    Update of drivers.
    Checkdisc running at startup.
Programs, accessories, run MSCONFIG untick initialization, normal startup check safe mode.
Startup and pressing F8 choose Normal startup option, this works to all first then comes in safe mode instantly back again as programs initialize at startup.
Cold from it after abruptly closing out game of jealousy, tension, technical fittings, threats using my laptop preferably in front of him (hell sometimes to other issues, it seems to work), begging, please, let her rest. Nothing seems to work.

  • Windows Update does not recognize that Windows Vista SP2 is NOT installed.

I have Windows Vista x 64 with SP1 and I defined updates on automatic.  However, it does recognize that the SP2 is not installed...  I'm afraid to try to install it manually after reading all the trouble with SP2 on this site.  Could you please tell me why the updates fails to recognize the SP2 is not installed and I have to do to solve it?  I'm not a master IT person, I just want my computer to be as up-to-date as possible.

Thanks for the advice and any help I can get.

    Hi Alamogordo,

    Welcome to Microsoft Windows forums!

Automatic updates would have tried to install sp2 and the installation was corrupt and failed.  So it will not try to reinstall. We have to uninstall sp2 to view update history and try to download and install manually.

    1. click on Start to type windows update in the start search box and click on enter

    2. click on view history of update and uninstall sp2 (kb948465)

    3. use the below given link to download sp2 (download to your desktop)

    4 http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=891ab806-2431-4d00-afa3-99ff6f22448d & displaylang = in & displaylang = in

Follow these methods before installing sp2

    Method 1

Try to put your computer in clean boot mode and check if the problem persists. To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows Vista or Windows 7 by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts. This article describes how to solve problems in Windows Vista or Windows 7 by performing a clean boot.

Steps to put your computer in a clean boot:

    1. click on Start
    2. type msconfig in the Search box and press ENTER.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click continue.

    1. in the general tab, click Selective startup.
    2. under Selective startup, clear the Load Startup items check box.
    3. click on the Services tab, select the hide all Microsoft Services check box, and then click disable all.
    4. click on OK.
    5. When you are prompted, click restart.

    Method 2

    Run the system update tool

System resources, such as file of data, even in the data memory and registry data, can develop inconsistencies during the lifecycle of the operating system. These contradictions may be caused by various hardware failures or can be caused by software problems. In some cases, these inconsistencies can affect the Windows Service store, and they can cause software updates not do not work. The system update tool attempts to resolve these inconsistencies.

    1. open the link http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947821 scroll through Microsoft Download Center where several links under this section.

    2. first link is for 32-bit operating system and the second is 64-bit.

    3. click on the appropriate link, then run it on your computer.

    4. Once completed, try to install sp2 through automatic updates

    5. in the case of a failure to install manually

NOTE: TURN ON YOUR COMPUTER TO A NORMAL STARTUP AFTER TRYING THE STEPS ABOVE.

Click Start, in the search box to start, type msconfig and press ENTER.
Select Normal startup, and then press apply and OK
