Automatically slicing with Photoshop 5.1 large TIFF files

I am trying to automatically cut a very large TIFF (800 MB) in 28 rectangles same size using Actions (this is a scanned image of 28 scientific slides and reducing the resolution is not an option). My goal is to start with the TIFF file and end with a folder that contains 28 separate files. I'll do this on such files TIFF, so it must be encoded in action.

So far, I have an action that creates benchmarks in a grid, and then converts the guides of the rectangular user 28 slices that cover the entire screen. Unfortunately, the file is too large to be used with the tool "Save for Web & Devices" and I can not also export to TIFF for this tool. So I made an action that individually select each slice (using the slice Selection tool), the copy, creates a new file, stick the image, it saves to the flattened, uncompressed TIFF format in a new folder, and then closes the file. When I try to run it, I get the following error:

The 'Select' command is not currently available

-Continue - stop.

If I press on continue the action does not. If I press Stop and select the range manually, there is no problem (but then my action will not completely automated). The image is in RGB 8-bit mode, and I also tried to convert the background locked in a standard layer layer. I see no reason why the select command should not be available! There is a single layer and there are available for selection user slices. I tried to separate the jobs of slicing and select / import in 2 different actions, but it still doesn't work.

Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

It could do...

It will save the files in a folder named filechop on the path of files.

  • Problems of memory of CS5, with large Tiff format

    Dear friends

This problem has affected many people in front of me and there was a lot of feedback and assistance, but my case is add to all the other answers.

I have PC with 12 GB memory triple channel I7 processor and 2 GB Nvidia 460GTX graphics card, as well as win 7 ultimate 64 bit and I am that nothing should stop me. but I was wrong at the time, irritating it and a lot of time, but so far no help.

I made an image in Accurender and recorded 2 times those JPEG and those TIFF just if I have both to see which will print better quality sharp etc. I have both photo shop in 64 bit and 32 bit, when I open the JPEG 330 mb, open Photoshop and I can crop etc, but when I open the TIFF file which is 420 MB I get message saying no enough memory, which you can seen or met.

I took the measures so far:

    · Photoshop gave more memory through preferences, is not that he needs 64-bit! no change

    · Tried the openGL on and turned off, the map is Palit Geforce 460GTX and supports opengl 4, no help.

    · scratch the disc if 200 GB so no space missing, I 2x300GB of disk space

    · played with the increase of the upper or lower cache, no help.

    · Just in case where you say is my image is damaged, not the glimpse of victory charge image no problem.

Similar problems with Adobe Indesign, the large Tiff file can be placed on A3 card everything is OK, but if I send to the printer I get message no enough memory, don't know if it's a memory of the printer or Indesign can handle the file, it handles 330 MB JPEG without problem.

400 ~ 450 MB file is not so great and should work fine, it's the TIFF and why!

Have you encountered this problems do you solved, please let me know.

    Thanks in advance

    Biyoroob

Most of the test files that we get is sent privately, not publicly.

But I think that the release of dot and using the 64-bit app will most likely solve the problem.

Recommend to reset preferences to default Photoshop

Press and hold the keys Alt + Ctrl + Shift (Windows) or Option + command + shift (Mac OS) you launch Photoshop. You are prompted to delete the current settings. New preferences files are created the next time you start Photoshop.

Or see How to remove/reset the Photoshop preferences

  • Digital art, files of large multi layers and increasing problems with Photoshop - advice please!

    Hi all

I am a digital artist, who does about 90% of his work in Photoshop. However the gel, crash at launch and at the exit of RAM reviews (even on opening 1 small file) have become more frequent until this week I can't work at all.

Records of work because they are implemented today:

    (1) 1928.11 GB (external)

    (2) GB 2560.76 (external)

    (3) F 286.17

    (4) 40.49 GB (boot)

Although a lot of arrangement of these discs have all failed.

It is not uncommon for me to work on the art that has 40 + layers in a document of 300 dpi (the 750MO PSD file size) 18 x 18 inches. (Even this does not end where JPG size for some of the clothing I hope to do my job). Again, for a year or two I did not seem to have any real problem with the files of this size. Originally, I was with WIN 8.1/Photoshop CS6. But the crash. Gel and off RAM review has progressed to the point that I had to stop and restart everything several times per hour often lose work - always lose time and focus.

I have a specific computer for design only, so I have other things running while I'm working. My stuff of protection antivirus is up-to-date.

3 weeks ago, I upgraded to Windows 10 and went ahead (despite having the full Creative Suite CS6 on expensive Disk) and a subscription that I can not afford for Photoshop CC. I want to get some relief from frequent problems. I don't have. The problems have got only worse/more frequent. I can only do one or two little thing in any given job. So, I have to stop or lose my job. This morning, I can not open a 47 MB file and a picture of 24 MB to bring it.

As a bonus, since the "revaluation" of CC Adobe married now often hold for 10 to 30 seconds when scrolling. This has never been a problem in the past.

I purge. I rearrange "scratch disks". I keep a historic minimum (4) States... All the things recommended in all of these items online on this seemingly common problem with Photoshop. I want it to work. I am not a technophile and feel like I have to return to college for a degree computer SCIENCE or art my work/income - in total. I am also very aware, it can just some obvious problem my artsy, non-tech brain does not see, so hopefully someone here can help you.

Example: showing why so many layers are needed. Often much needed individual 'twisted' once again towards the end of the design work, so cant more be combined while I add them in.

In clear simple any help would be greatly appreciated - single to the top of the preferences for the way I work in...

Windows 10 - 32 bits, and that is the problem.

    A 32-bit operating system can use 3.76 GB of ram no matter how much you have, simple math - 2 ^ 32 = 4,294,967,296 bytes 4294967296 / (1 024 x 1 024) = 4 096 MB = 4 GB

Solution to your problem - reinstall 10 64-bit Windows.

  • Windows 7 Ultimate (64) Lag and freeze when browsing large Tiff/PSB files

Hi, I recently installed Windows 7 Ultimate, first by using the update install Vista 64, then a new installation - both had the same problem resulting from it-when I am browsing files Tiff/PSB large in windows Explorer, I get a lot of lag, freezing and occasional accidents.

It wasn't a problem with Vista

the files are large (about 1 to 4 GB) mainly created with Photoshop CS4 my system is i7CPU 920, 12 GB of ddr3 Nvidia 9600GT (with an updated driver)

I tried to disable the thumbnails, but it makes no difference.

Sorry if I've left tons of important information.

    Thank you

    Hello

I have the same problem on Windows 7 ultimate (64 bit) 8 GB RAM navigation local or network folders with more than 2 GB TIFF.

The low CPU usage, but memory usage very high by up to 3-4 GB additional explorer.exe.

No need to click on the file. It is enough just to open the folder.

I had to use the command line to move large files to a folder not used so that I can use the remaining images.

Disable thumbnail previews have no effect. If you switch folders and return in the same folder, the question is repeated. He does not hide any information in the first round even though the system can survive.

If the file is larger than 3 GB, the system generally crashes.

    Thanks for any help.

EDITED ON 15 DECEMBER: of workaround seems to be working: go to the properties of the folder by right click and click on the 'Customize' tab select 'Documents' for ' optimize this folder for. Mine was "Images". "General" did not work either.

  • Use Photoshop for printing large format

    IMG_0136b.jpg

Let me answer some of your post...

"I have a chart that's about 5' x 6' and he uses a cominbation to photos and vector smart objects."

A large number of places are accpecting of PSD files, and I thought since there are the vector elements in the PSD file that he would scale well. »

-It is a common misconception.  The seller's right.  A PSD file that big can produce problems in the INVESTIGATION period.  Try not to depend on the file .psd with vector objects.  They don't really evolve as you would expect.

«I'm proof of income and type are a little blurry when you're about 4 feet away.»

I told her the blurry text and they said that they would perfer in illustrator, so I recreated the Illustrator file and placed all of them in there.

I thought that it would just be easier to do all my work in Photoshop.

What is the problem that I get when I use a PSD file to present my work? »

-Yes.  Printers digital large format are used in conjunction with the emulators of Postscript level 3 of RIP or Postscript.  The best file format is an EPS Illustrator file to scale (OK, you like EPS, then submit a file have native if you must... Sorry, just to speak poorly informed lugheads there) with Photoshop 'Place' (EPS, tiff, psd) files.  The advantage is that you will get a sharp text and, if your images are great photo reproduction size correctly.

The strapping was a little worried.  They say they can fix this.  So, maybe they test work on a lower output device?  I suggest you get the specifications of the supplier in writing.  For example, to print .icm; RIP; number of inks, etc.  But the long and too late, you may even submit PDF and have the RIP expand the file.  I usually work at 25% actual size with 300ppi (the final image = 75ppi res) images with a resolution of pixelation set to 'high '.  All good workflow will have no problem resizing the Ai, EPS or PDF 400% in the INVESTIGATION period.  I did it, I do it and the banners of flawless printing.

  • models of collage for use with photoshop?

    Hello

    I'm doing a directory

I intend to make the ads full page 2 - in addition to the text, I have pictures of 35-40 I want to understand

are there templates to facilitate the placement of the photos?

I'd like a template that is editable

    Thanks for your help!
    =)

    Photo Collage Toolkit

Scripts for Photoshop is powerful and I think that this package demonstrates this a video showing a collage of 5 model PSD image fills with images:

The package includes four simple rules to follow to make Photo Collage Template PSD files so they will be compatible with my Photoshop scripts.

    1. Models of photo collage for the desired print size - width and height of the size and DPI print resolution.
    2. Photo collage templates must have a background layer in Photoshop. The content of this layer can be anything.
    3. Photo collage templates must have alpha channels named "Picture 1", "Picture 2"... "Picture n".
    4. Photo collage templates layers above the background layers must provide transparent areas to reveal the images which will be placed below them.

There are fourteen scripts in this package, they provide the following functions:

    1. HelpPhotoCollageToolkit.jsx - online help
    2. TestCollageTemplate.jsx - used to test a model of Collage of Photo while you're doing it with Photoshop.
    3. CollageTemplateBuilder.jsx - can build models that are compatible with this toolkit scripts.
    4. LayerToAlphaChan.jsx - used to convert a stack of the Prototype Image layers in a document template.
    5. InteractivePopulateCollage.jsx - used to fill interactively model Any Photo Collage. Offers more user control insert images and text.
    6. ReplaceCollageImage.jsx - allows to replace an object layer dynamic image collage populated with another image resized and positioned correctly.
    7. ChangeTextSize.jsx - this script can be used to change the size of text Image stamps when the size used by the filling did not work well.
    8. PopulateCollageTemplate.jsx - used to fill a Photo Collage template and leave the populated copy automatically opened in Photoshop.
    9. BatchOneImageCollage.jsx - used for the models automatically batch fill Collage that have only a single image inserted. The Collage or picture may be stamped with the text.
    10. BatchMultiImageCollage.jsx - used to model automatically batch fill any Photo Collage with images in an image source folder. Easier to use than the interactive script. Recorded collages can be twisted.
    11. PasteImageRoll.jsx - paste Images into a document to print on roll paper.
    12. BatchPicturePackage.jsx - used to model automatically batch fill any Photo Collage with an image in the image source folder.  Rotation of images for a better fit.
    13. BatchPicturePackageNoRotate.jsx - used to model automatically batch fill any Photo Collage with an image in the image source folder.
    14. PCTpreferences.jsx - edit this file to customize Collage fill preset scripts and add your own layer styles.

  • Problem with Photoshop print CC

Recently, several people have commented on a problem printing with Photoshop CC. The question is: when the Center box is enabled, the image seems to be centered in the print dialog window, but when printing in fact the image is not centered on the media. This seems to be particularly the case when an image is moved and centered on a (larger than the image) background which is the exact size of the media. My thought on is to flatten the layers before opening the print dialog box. Other thoughts or others see this phenomenon?

In my view, the Epson 3880 allows you to print without margins on the sides, but there is a breakthrough area of the top and bottom.  If your image can be resized to insert in the printable area of media.  I have and old Epson printer a 4800.  If I select 8 x 10 media, I get a little popup in the dialogue does Epson Print parameter indicating that without borders is not supported on this paper size. And Photoshop can change my picture 8 x 10 down in size. In print preview, the hash lines appear the unprintable area.

  • Problem with Photoshop crashes or freeze for users on a server terminal server

    Dear Forum!

I'm having trouble with Photoshop gel over a period of 20 minutes when you (1) user gum with special brushes and (2) copy and paste the material to a PDF file in Photoshop. As you can see by the size of this post, I'm getting quite depserate here and need help.

    Some background information...

Photoshop CS6 is installed on a server terminal server with approximately 25 active users where 3 of them are using Photoshop.

The operating system on the server is Windows Server R2 2012.

There are no extra modules just a simple installation of Photoshop in this case.

The server uses 40-60% of the memory most of the time (for the most part, a little less, sometimes a little more, but never 100%) and 40% of the CPU.

There is enough free space on the disk.

    The problem in detail...

There are two occasions where the gel was held most of the time. After that it crashes for the first time, it will happen whenever you do any operations over a period of about 20 minutes and it is reciprocal for all users. When it freezes, freezes any terminal session but the program, I always answer (it is not in of "not responding") when you look at another user via the Task Manager. Ending the process as an administrator works sometimes, although the moment where I end it process it takes about 10 to 60 seconds before the program closes actually and the user gets back control. The best thing to do most of the time, if an administrator requires them to close the session.

    1. the first opportunity is when you use the eraser with a brush that is not a standard but added manually. The names of the brush packages used are:
    Extacy__Elemental

    KKC_Fractal

    Kornkid's_Grunge_Set

and the problem is with all the brushes inside those packages. How I evoke the problem is the following:

    1. start Photoshop

    2. create new

    3. fill the background with any color

    4. Select the Eraser tool

    5. change the brush to one of those mentioned above

    6. program freezes

    2. the second scenario when the problem occurs is when users copy something from a PDF in Photoshop. The way I talk about it is:

    1. open a PDF file

    2. Select the box and copy it

    3. open Photoshop

    4 create new

    5 paste in Photoshop

    6. program freezes

    So far, we've tried solutions...

I worked on it for several tour now and I'm not entirely sure on what exactly I did. I'll try and do the following once more, but I'm sure I've tried most of them.

    Update graphics card drivers.

    Reset all tools:

    1. Select a tool options

    2. choose «Reset all tools»

    Reset default settings:

    1. hold ctrl + shift + alt for Photoshop to start

    2. Select "Yes".

Tested if it matter if I have a pen or not connected, which it doesn't.

Removed Special brushes (but it's still freezing when copy/paste of the PDF)

Deleted 'save in the background' and 'automatically save recovery information' options

    Update to the latest version.

    Off to OpenGL

Solutions I have not, but I'll try...

    Reinstall Photoshop

    Change the font preview size

    1. go to "type".

    2. Select "prview font size."

    3. Select 'none '.

Delete the cache of system fonts

    1. Close all Adobe applications, including the application of office (if installed) creative cloud.
    2. Go to \Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\Appdata\Local
    3. Remove the * FNTCACHE. * DAT or * FontCache*.dat files.
NOTE: the asterisk (*) indicates the different numbers, letters or words, such as FontCache-S-1-5 - 21.dat or COFFfntCache.dat.

Delete the cache of Photoshop police

    1. Release of Photoshop and the creative cloud (if installed) desktop application.
    2. Navigate to the appropriate folder
    • Photoshop CS6 and earlier versions.
Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\Local Settings\Application Adobe application
      [Windows 7: \Users\[user name] \AppData\Local\Adobe
    • Photoshop CC and CC 2014
      [Windows 7 and 8: \Users\[user name] \AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC or CC 2014

    3. delete the TypeSupport (Photoshop CS6 and earlier) or the folder of police CT (Photoshop CC and CC 2014) Cache and the empty the trash.

To be updated for future visitors to this case, we discovered that the problem might be with a bug in Windows, so we downloaded the latest updates and are currently waiting for your comments. I'll update once more when some time has passed and we have confirmed whether the update has worked or not.

  • Photoshop crashes when you select file / automate / batch

Photoshop users always need a fix for Photoshop crashing every time they choose batch.

I understand that Adobe staff has chosen drivers scanner to blame for the problem. And I have read the discussions through last year (very long and annoying when all you want is a fix). But I'm not set on several things that do not add to the top.

First of all, I'll go through the symptoms, for the sake of all readers. Photoshop users have reported Photoshop crashing when they select file / automate / lots on the menu for years. This problem has gotten a lot worse (widespread) since the release of version 12.0.4. The problem affects apparently only those whose Train compatible scanners and who installed optional Twain from Macromedia. I never read how someone came to this conclusion, but the drivers scanner are being blamed. The accepted workaround solution is to disable or remove Twain from Macromedia.

Secondly, I would like to point out that Photoshop works normally when you use the Twain plugin. I can scan pictures and they are imported directly into Photoshop without any problem. It was the case before the 12.0.4 updated and always is the case at present.

Thirdly, I want to ask my question most pressing. That by selecting 'Batch '.... "has he to do with the drivers scanner? In other words, what possibly could Photoshop do with drivers to scan when selecting 'Batch '.... "it does not when in fact uses the drivers?

Finally, I'll point out that I am a developer of software over 30 years. So I understand how it could somehow work in the details that the source of the problem is really drivers scanner buggy. However, as a programmer with a lot of experience dealing with common problems in device driver API, I know that good practice is to wait for something. If Photoshop starts a process that calls for someone to another software API, it should amortize this call with appropriate exception error handling. All processes must run with a claim "if all else fails.

    > Whatever by selecting 'Batch '.... "has to do with drivers scanner?

When you run the actions for the Batch command, updates to Photoshop it's State control/menu to see what commands are enabled or disabled depending on the State of the document changed by actions.  This update appealed at the interface of scanning to see what is available or not, and at that time, some drivers crash.  Since the accident happens in the third-party code running in the context of Photoshop - it there was not much Photoshop can do to get it back (there are exceptions, but it could not work beyond the limits of the OS and DLLS).

In Photoshop CS6, we spent a little time to find out why they were crashing (apparently there was some assumption on the State of the GUI application) and how we could avoid if crush in these circumstances - and now CS6 avoids accidents in the Batch command even with the TWAIN plugin and drivers are loaded.
