What should I do?

see if the boot has been set in safe mode.  If so, then uncheck it.

I was pulling out my hair trying to find if there could be anything in the temporary files that I have to keep the last few weeks. Then I came across this: "the release of Avast 10.3.2223 (we think it's this version) has resulted in questions with avasts prevention of Thunderbird.

computers temp folder. "So now I'm completely confused. Why would I put something I need all the time in a temporary file to have remove for cleaning ccleaner?

Matt, thanks. I read your blog post. I need to replace my HD and I've been fretting over if I have to loose important data from the temporary files. Apparently not. When I talked about ccleaner, it was in the generic sense. I avoided ccleaner because I thought it was a big hammer and some data that he brags about getting rid of I really want to continue. I know that I can choose what remains and what is happening, I'll have to give him another look. Once again thank you.

  • Thunderbird is suspended ("Not Responding") seconds after the opening (ver. 38.4.0). Likely related to Avast.

After a recent update 38.4.0, Thunderbird does more completely. I have to kill the process, and then whenever I open Thunderbird thereafter, it crashes a few seconds (even 'unresponsive' freeze-up).

Sometimes in SafeMode as well of TB and with disabled Avast. Thunderbird works normally for some time after a restart of Windows 7 before crashing again. So, start in Windows safe mode are not conclusive.

Are there additional troubleshooting I can do? I am sunk now, as Thunderbird is watered seriously! Is it possible to revert to a previous version?

Thunderbird has been relatively stable in recent weeks. Maybe the TB or Avast updates have solved the problems of gel. Thank you for the thoughtful troubleshooting.

  • Avast security not recognized online

I'm working on this problem with Avast. Yesterday Avast has updated me to their latest version which, according to Avast, is recognized by the new policy of signing of the add-on from Mozilla. This module has been updated on 20 may 2015 according to the info on my browser. I can't have the add-on to be updated manually or automatically (my default) on Firefox. I was going to remove it and do a fresh install in order to get the new update Avast, but when I went to the Add-ons on Firefox or done a search of Avast does not. My latest version of Avast security online is 11.1.2241, release date 3 November 2015, while the projection of my browser version is 10.1.0.170 with the update may 20, 2015 instead of November 2015.
How can I get the new version of Avast to work with Firefox?
Thanks in advance to anyone who responds to my request for help.

I tried to reinstall the program. I tried to uninstall and reinstall. I tried to restart the reinstallation. It's under my account on the computer, it works fine in my regular user account. I didn't install or use Thunderbird in my normal user account until after the restoration of Windows 7.

This happened after the upgrade to Windows 10 and then restore Windows 7. I didn't care much for the way in which the computer ran after the installation of Windows 10 and I also lost my access to the internet, because of the way I have to connect to the internet.

    No luck.

I've seen a lot of reports wbout connection fails for the ssl_error_weak_server_ephemeral_dh_key. This happens to me on a website (municipal library) and ONE of my 2 machines of W7.
Does not work for W7/64 with McAfee and W7Pro
Succeeds on W7/64 with Avast and W7 Home Premium

Just started failing in the last 2 weeks.

I tried to read patches, but the information was sparse. I can get around a computer, but I don't know a lot about the structure of FF and I need a detailed method. More there are warnings about "dead ends". I go back to a single machine works and there is no. 39.0 running and parameters are the same, as far as I can tell - I even tried to analyze the troubleshooting information.

You can compare the Pref settings involved.

    • Security.SSL3.dhe_rsa_aes_128_sha
    • Security.SSL3.dhe_rsa_aes_256_sha

Note that the DHE cipher suites have been disabled for some reason and their reactivation will make you vulnerable to the attack of the impasse.
You should consider using a separate with the two involved cipher suites enabled profile and use this profile to access the blocked sites.

  • Given that I uninstalled avast! antivirus and installed Bitdefender Internet Security 2015 Thunderbird asked to accept an invalid certificate or not.

Given that I uninstalled avast! antivirus and installed Bitdefender Internet Security 2015 Thunderbird application if you want to accept an invalid certificate when you try to receive new messages.

Please take a look at the two attachments (it seems to be a problem with the download of jpg files).

Obviously Bitdefender manipulates the certificate (no doubt to be able to scan the e-mails via an SSL connection). But I'm not sure.

Would you recommend to confirm an exception for this certificate (permanently)?

    Thanks in advance.

    Greetings

    Marco

    Thank you, christ1.

I discovered that after disabling SSL scanning in Bitdefender, this problem no longer exists.

Maybe this can be seen as a confirmation that the certificate belongs in reality to Bitdefender. Because it is my concern, that is the validation of this certificate to make sure that Bitdefender is the transmitter.

  • "This connection is Untrusted" appears when you try to access all sites on MacBook Pro; problem started after running Avast scan of the computer

I ran the full scan of the disc of Avast. Since then, I have been unable to access any site using Firefox without getting the message, "this connection is not approved." Many are the sites I have been too many times before, and they are trusted sites. I don't know if there is a problem with Firefox or Firefox could recover place a sort of new "infestation". The Avast scan resulted in 5 put files in a quarantine area. Eleven years could not be scanned. Thanks for any help you can provide!

I guess Safari normally works on these sites?

The latest version of avast! Web Shield includes a function to filter your Internet connections for potential threats. In order to filter secure sites, it must present a certificate of 'false' for the site in Firefox, so it can be 'in the middle' and read your secure communications. If Firefox is not set false certificates of trust, then you will get warnings for all secure sites.

You can disable this feature as a test to see if the problem goes away.

If this works, but you want to use the feature, you must import the certificate of Avast in the tab "References" of Firefox so Firefox accepts its false certificates (there might be an automated way AVAST to do this for you, or you might need export from IE and then import them into Firefox).

  • Uninstall Avast engine of research?

I installed Avast Antivirus some time ago, stopped using it, then uninstalled, but I find few remnants of it here and there (I don't know which is bad, but it's boring), and I just found in my search bar there is a search engine 'Google (Avast)', so I go into the search parameters and remove it , but worried he might still be installed somewhere. I am unable to find it anywhere, then someone can advise on this?

Firefox detects search plugins in two different places. We're in your personal settings, and we're in the Firefox program folder. There could still be a third location (shared settings folder) but I have not seen before.

To check your personal settings folder:

Open the settings folder (AKA Firefox profile) current Firefox help

    • button "3-bar" menu > "?" button > troubleshooting information
    • (menu bar) Help > troubleshooting information
    • type or paste everything: in the address bar and press Enter

In the first table of the page, click on the view file"" button. This should launch a new window that lists the various folders and files.

Look for a folder named searchplugins and click inside to see if you find that anything unwanted.

Keep this window open for the next step...

To verify the folder Firefox program:

Since you have a 64-bit version of Windows, go to:

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\

Click on browser then searchplugins to verify whatever it is unwanted here.

    OK?

You can check for all avast! modules modules on the page. Either:

    • CTRL + SHIFT + a
    • "3-bar" menu button (or tools) > Add-ons

Switch categories by using the left column. The key is Extensions, but you can also see Plugins.

  • Avast Forum connection failed - works in Chrome etc.

I am trying to log the avast forum and get this error each time (not the first site to do this on either)...

An error occurred during a connection to forum.avast.com. You have received an invalid certificate. Please contact the server administrator or email correspondent and give them the following information: your certificate contains the same serial number for another certificate issued by the certification authority. Please get a new certificate containing a unique serial number. (Error code: sec_error_reused_issuer_and_serial)

I can access with Chrome, IE etc so logically, it takes a certificate stored in Firefox? I went to the Options - Advanced - certificates - view certificates, but I'm lost from there.

Thanks Philipp, https scanning was the culprit!

  • I think that Avast is causing my problems. Can solve you this problem, please?

My Avast Spyware don't like Mozilla. He opened a small window on my screen called 'Open Action Center', and I can't get rid of it.

He wants me to look at the messages about the State of my computer. According to me, he's trying to get me to buy additional software.

I don't want to talk, because I find it a very invasive, in-your-face program that unfortunately came with my download from Adobe.

    Any help is sincerely appreciated.

    Hello

I'm surprised to hear that you have received via Adobe Avast - in my experience, Adobe products are delivered with McAfee. If you have another antivirus that you want to use, you can download an installer for another antivirus, uninstall Avast, then install the new antivirus.

I suspect that Avast is complaining because you have an older version of Flash and Firefox (and if you have the free version, it will probably also you tell about the features of the paid version). You can update Firefox by going to:

    • Help (or

      >

      ) > about Firefox

Or download a new copy to: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/
If you need another location: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/

As for Flash, you can download a update here (if you do not want the beam, be sure to uncheck McAfee or any software is available in the center pane under offer in option):

It is recommended to stay updated with the security updates and the performance of the applications.

  • How can I report an attack from malicious software by using your video download? Avast has refused to let it download and then survey myself, it was as an attack.

An update for Mozilla video appeared when I opened Mozilla this morning. I clicked Yes, because the videos have been seriously lagging behind. Avast flashed immediately that it was a virus, so I stopped it download. After returning from lunch, it does the same thing. The download shows as Video.exe and Avast is described as: URL: hxxp://69.4.238.156/14/NewVideoPlayerSetup.exe and Infection: URL: wrong I don't know enough about software, nothing to do with this, but thought you should be informed that I very rarely get attacks of Mozilla. As a side note, somehow a program called optimizer Pro seemed to drag on my computer at the same time and tries to download himself with the virus.

Thanks for all the work you do. Mozilla is my favorite browser and you guys are doing a great job with it.

More all products that Mozilla has are to say a mozilla.org site link.

    https://mozillalabs.com/en-us/projects/
    https://www.Mozilla.org/en-us/products/

The only real video related Mozilla, it's https://wiki.mozilla.org/Shumway and more info on http://mozilla.github.io/shumway/

The site that you downloaded this NewVideoPlayerSetup.exe of was a scam because it uses the inexperience of users and the popularity of Mozilla and Firefox browser to trick people to install this kind of things.

Next time if you are unsure, you should ask someone will then tell you if it is legitimate or not for example.

  • Avast wants me to remove infoatoms and change my browser settings

So I close Firefox and my computer. When I restarted and back - open Firefox, it did not start as it should. I got the oops of screen instead. But I also had a popup of Avast (one of these screens which stays on top) tell the community Avast don't like infoatoms. I reached around boredom and started Firefox so I could look around the internet and decide what to do. Usually I was the last on the tab is the tab in short when I run upwards. This tab of time one has been developed. I had first reached out to Avast but they have been hacked, so add up everything that happened on this reboot has me worried. I decided to get rid of it. When I clicked on delete, I received a message that I must choose a new home page and search provider. My only choice is Yahoo and Bing from Microsoft. I don't want to make these changes. But if I have to I want to know the return path. I couldn't find a way to do it in the options. I think remember me a drop-down list on the home page, but I can't now. Knowing, as I looked further into it seems that the problem is probably with IE. So here's the question. So once I deleted infoatoms my homepage and search engine in Firefox changed how their restored where they are now. I'm not expecting change, so it's just in case. Either way, what is troubleshooting?

"I decided to get rid of him."
    Get rid of what?
    Infoatoms or Avast?

Reset search plugin will set the homepage layout and search parameters.
