• InDesign stops responding when you change the text of the network. Technicians are baffled!

  Recently my InDesign (CS6 running on Windows 7 Pro 64 bit, 8 GB ram) has become almost completely insensitive when I go to open and edit a file off the corporate network. Our technicians have no idea of what is happening and are considering having to re - build my profile as a last resort, as we tried everything.

  A little more of a buton to the problem: when I go to edit a file, InDesign turned off the server it first takes longer than usual to load but finally made. You can scroll through and down the pages, move and resize boxes, place new photos but as soon as you try to do anything based text (edit new text or create a new text box) the program crashes until you have to Task Manager on and kill. It is not a file corupt because if I copy the directory of the file with all the links on my computer hard drive the file works quite well, it's only when editing on the network and when edouble clicking to edit a text.

  What we have done to try to resolve the problem:

  • Reinstal InDesign - no effect
  • Deleted preferences (shift + ctrl + alt + windows key on InDesign startup) - no effect

  Our technicians tried to edit my profile nothing helps registry, and we are all completely at a loss of what is happening. There are several other instances of the program within the company (especially versions 5.5 and one other 6) and they work all files fine edition directly to the output of the network.

  Someone has an idea of what it could be, such a specific problem being only when you're editing text base areas? Technicians do not want to have to re - build my profile because there is a lot of back-end to do to be able to restore immediately.

  It turned out to be the network path shortcut I used to access the shared drive where I just change the files to. I work for a restaurant so we have a shared drive where each site can access their files, it's where the food menu files and I had created a shortcut, although accessible the zone made him using a path that had a double backslash in it.

  The true path for the shared drive is \\hm\mydocs\restaurant\menufile.indd and it is the shortcut I used to open the file of. For all other files such as Word, Excel, even other programs like PSE10 and Lightroom Adobe it seems to work correctly. For some reason any InDesign dislikes this path with the double backslash in. As soon as I changed the path of the shortcut to just m:\ (the letter of the drive shared on the network), everything worked again and we can all sleep, he drove us mental.   Recently, when I was browsing the web, my computer began to crash for long periods of time. The strange thing is that it only happens when I use Chrome 17 or 12 of Firefox.   Contact the manufacturer of the Family Tree Maker with their product under the operating system you are using.  Likely, given my research superficial, they will suggest that you upgrade to a current version and supported that is made to work under the given operating system.

• LR6 stops responding when you start a backup of the catalog

  Whenever I start a backup, the progress bar indicates a small green band and stop there.  I tried to assign another destination of backup on an external hard drive, but the result is always the same.  I need to use the the Task Manager for end LR6 (says does not).

  Any suggestions?  I've recently updated to version 6.5.

  Please turn off the graphics processor of Lightroom preferences.

  Open Lightroom

  Go to Lightroom preferences in the Edit menu

  Click the performance tab

  Deselect the graphics processor

  Restart Lightroom

• Sometimes my keyboard stops responding when you use Photoshop CS6, & I have to restart

  Since I've upgraded to Photoshop CS6, I found that every one time from time to time the keyboard not responding.  I can't tell if something specific that I'm doing it triggers, but I will be editing an image and press a shortcut key and find that it doesn't work. This does not happen when I first open an image, but usually after that I worked for a while. As far as I can tell (it's pretty random) it seems to happen when I use a tool to apply an effect to an image, like this last time, it happened when I used the Spot Healing Brush several times on a photograph. (Of course it could be correlation without causation, since I'm a big fan of the Spot Healing Brush and tend to use a little whenever I'm editing photos). Note that the modifier keys still work, but all the letters and the keys do not respond.

  Sometimes - and lately it seems that it always happens, there is a sound associated with the shut-off valve.  It is possible that the times I heard the noise, I had my speakers.  It's a short clicking noise - and I don't think that's it integrated alert sounds on my Mac, because I just listened to each other and I remember that noise is different - but the sound is certainly coming from my speakers and is not a mechanical noise from the machine.  I don't know what could be causing this. I saw someone complaining about this a couple of years, who thought it might have to do with a Wacom tablet. I own one, but do not always use it, and what happens even when I'm not using it.  The only way I found to get my keyboard answer again is close Photoshop and restart.

  I'm on a Macbook Pro 2.66 GHz Intel Core i7 with 8 GB of Ram. I'm on OS X 10.7.4 (not quite ready for Mountain Lion).

  Okay - looks like I solved my problem after a few hours looking for related problems on the web.  It is not a problem with Photoshop but with Mac OS X.  The mouse and trackpad 'Universal access' default preferences are set to "Press the Option five times to enable or disable MouseKeys." So, when I use a tool that I'm editing with the option key, key and I repeatedly use it five times in a row, I hear the rattling which means "Mouse keys" lights (and disable the regular keys). Turn this option off, and the problem is solved!

  I don't know why it does. But every time I play a game my Pc the computer hangs and my moniter screen shows a bunch of discolored pixels. Ive got to day still does not, reinstalled and it does not always work, and THEN restored my pc and he always does. :\
