AWR convert to DNG in lightroom cc

Today, I installed the latest update. I'm on a Mac.

I always imported my files and raw files. My Sony AWR files convert to DNG after the last update and I can't seem to import as AWR without conversion.

My files from my previous import are AWR. Import of today are all dng.

Y at - it a setting I can change to keep my raw files?

Thank you!

No doubt inadvertently selected "Copy as DNG" in the upper panel of the import dialog options. You have not really lost any ability to edit by converting to DNG. But if you don't like it, then just change the option 'Copy' and the conversion will not occur.

Yes, as suggested by Hal, import images into Lightroom, and then convert them to DNG from the library Module.

Select image > click library in the Menu bar > Photo to convert to DNG.

Recovery of DNG issue: I have photos stored on an external hard drive which have previously been imported into Lightroom and converted to DNG.  The laptop on which I was running Lightroom died and I had to replace the hard drive and rebuild the computer.  In the process of my Lightroom program and catalog related to these images have been lost.  When I re-associate these photos with my new installation of Lightroom and a new catalogue is there a way to retrieve the keywords or other changes or metadata catalogue Mountaga?  Is any of this information embedded with the imge DNG file or was it only in the cataloght lost on my failing hard drive? I re-import just as if it were new images with no prior treatment of Lightroom?

By default, LR saves all changes in the catalog, and that applies to any type of file.

Optionally, you can save changes to the file as well, for raw files owners, this will create a xmp file - for DNG that changes are going to be cooked in the file, without additional xmp file.

But it does not default. Go to the catalog and parameters under the control of metadata automatically save changes to XMP.

Unless you do this, the changes are saved only in the catalog.

    Hope this makes things clearer.

  • How to convert multiple DNG size full of lossy DNG in Lightroom?

    Hello

When I select several DNG in Lightroom and my mac, go to menu > library > convert photo to DNG and then choose Convert to DNG with the lossy mode, only the selected DNG is converted. How to convert more at the same time? I have a large library, and I want to convert ~ 100 GB of photos at a loss.

    Thanks in advance!

How to convert more at the same time? I have a large library, and I want to convert ~ 100 GB of photos at a loss.

Using Photos of the library/convert to DNG, if you're in something other than the display of the grid, one photo will be converted even if several are selected.  Its the same way that all orders (perhaps not all) work in library mode, you must be in mode grid for multiple photo stock.

  • Degradation of the image by converting to DNG files?

My camera generates NEF files. I usually copy as DNG when I import them into Lightroom. This process does change my image somehow?

I love that DNG is an open format, but I don't want to degrade my images.

    Thank you

If you choose lossless compression when you convert to DNG format, not a single pixel has changed in your image.

Of course, if you choose lossy compression, then the image has changed, although in almost all cases, you'll have a hard time, except if you look really hard seeing her.

  • Metadata embedded in the after Photo convert to DNG?

Since I did the photo convert to DNG in all my photos (originals have been.) CR2 and have been developed as well) it seems that Lightroom cooked the previous metadata (XMP) to the new. DNG files so now, when I hit the "\" typing to see 'Before' (in the develop module) Lightroom now that he thinks 'Before' the current state...

This really bugs me, is it normal that there are no more 'Before' the State just because I converted all my photos to DNG

Also, history of Lightroom is now show me 'Of Matadata' during the last action in the history list. Although I never used the function "reading of the metadata of the file.

So basically, I have just converted to DNG all my photos and would like to be able to use the service before "\" in the develop module that I used to do with the. CR2...

    any help would be appreciated!

    Thank you!

    Danny

    D,

I tried on a single file, and I see the same result with the front / after as you do. This seems to be a bug, but the history is still intact, and I can select the State of the 'import' downstairs and see the original image, so that the changes are not integrated in the DNG format.

So the only thing you seem to have lost is the possibility to use the before / after long, unable to return to your original if you must.

  • Is there a reason to save the original NEF files after import for the LR in the form of files 'convert to DNG?  Is there a reason to save the two versions?  The NAVE seems to have no further use other than too much hard drive space.

Is there a reason to save the original NEF files after import for the LR in the form of files 'convert to DNG?  Why save versions when the DNG is the original and the NAVE seems to just take remote hard drive space?

I see no reason to keep them, they take a lot of space, one of the reasons to convert to DNG is that they are almost 20% smaller than the ships.

But it is of course your choice...

  • Exporting DNG from Lightroom, but the thumbnail in os x Finder still shows the unmodified image. How can I update the thumbnail?

I export a DNG from Lightroom on my iMac (OSx 10.11.2) but the thumbnail in os x Finder still shows the unmodified image. How can I update the thumbnail?

Export to DNG will always export a unretouched photo non-modified. Your changes are in the XMP of DNG file as text, and most of the viewers of DNG files cannot interpret or use this text. So, it seems that when you export photos in DNG, Lightroom has done what it is supposed to do.

  • BUG? "Convert to DNG" is not to skip current DNG but rather DNG conversion to DNG.

I selected 50 k images to convert to DNG, NEF format. After the conversion of the DNG format, I chose it to remove the NAVE. Between the NAVE in the archive are DNG that were previously converted by LR during the import. QUESTION: I see the DNG files in the trash (mac 10.9.3) sense LR isn't jump the current DNG files, but actually convert the DNG format a new DNG then trash the original DNG. This must be a bug.

https://DL.dropboxusercontent.com/u/37390809/DNG-to-DNG.mov [35MB] (action - select DNG, "convert to DNG", DNG is made and original thrown in the garbage)

OK - it makes sense that LR converting a DNG for a new DNG if it is

    (1) go lossless lossy

    (2) if the embedded JPG preview changes (xmp changes require the update of JPG JPG or incorporate the size has changed)

Hope that Adobe considers drugues the spec or conversion when "convert RAW files" is selected using the specification to check the flags that notes what state is the current DNG and compare with the given command so that DNG-> DNG would SKIP over files that are already at the exit of the target.

My current solution is to filter all simply my library for 'file type' = Raw and then apply the DNG conversion for this file type to jump all DNG files in my archive of shooting 200 000.
