"Back" button does not work and lost bookmarks

I followed the instructions that Firefox has been extremely slow. He said my favorites would be saved and everything should work as usual. However, I lost all my precious Favorites, and now the back button does not work. She is pale grey all the time, and itls drives me crazy, that I can't go back to the search page. I have to type everything in full again.
If I can't change it, I'll have to switch to another web browser, after being with Firefox for more years than I care to remember.
I liked using Firefox and have recommended it to all my family and friends.
I'm very angry on my favorites, because I used these regularly and had a few coordinates links and important model for my sewing and knitting, as well as time-saving links. Now, I'm completely lost without them.
If this isn't the page said it would be saved, then I would not have changed anything.
It's very frustrating and annoying, after spending months, where I wanted and now he lost get it all because of the wrong information. I am very anxious.
Lesley

You can check for problems with the database places.sqlite file in the Firefox profile folder.

You can see if you can restore bookmarks to a JSON or a compressed backup of JSONLZ4 in the bookmarkbackups folder in the "Old data Firefox" folder on the desktop.

  • Firefox automatically updated itself, would not add new bookmarks, then deleted all mine, will not always add new, now the back button does not work. I'm Livid.

I think I'm on Firefox 13.0. He put itself as part of the update of my computer up to date (at least I guess that's what happened, because it has changed). I noticed yesterday that he would not favorite Web sites, but I thought it was just the website or bookmarks have been full-time or something. Today, I tried to remove a few bookmarks to make more, but they would not remove. I tried to register a new site, and it wouldn't work. I tried to close/exit firefox and re-opening of the program. While the program was closed, I installed the next set of updates on my computer. When I have opened firefox, all my favorites, and the tab menu (or what you call personal small bar on the actual tabs) were gone. I can't always favorite of new sites, so I can't even re-do all my favorites (and I got a lot, all of them arranged so it's a big loss and incredibly annoying). Then I realized that the back button does not work. And the cursor remains on the typing that I symbol, it does not change the arrow, when I click on a link.

One possible cause is a problem with the places.sqlite file that stores the bookmarks and history.

  • Why not Firefox 4.0 back button does not work since the homepage or google search?

I've just upgraded to firefox 4.0 tonight, and the back button is not working properly of my homepage or certain types of google searches.

I can reproduce this problem every time by following these steps:

    (1) open a new tab, and I get a blank page.
    (2) select the Home button. I find myself at http://www.google.com/ig
    (3) go to the address bar type in a new URI, and press return

Now, I leave my home page and go to the new page, but I can't go back to my home page.

Similar behavior happens if I do a search on google for the address of quick search in the upper right.

    (1) start a new tab.
    (2) enter a search term and press enter
    3) click on one of the links to research and you transition to the new page, but the back button does not work.

It works fine if I do something like:
    (1) open a new tab.
    (2) enter google.com in the address bar and press to enter.
    (3) do a GOOGLES search arae.
    4) click a search result link.

This works very well for me.

In my case, I turn off the Add McAfee SiteAdvisor 3.3.1 and the problem goes away.

    Hello

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

I understand you have questions only by using the back button in the Firefox browser.

But I would like more information on this topic in order to help you.

    (1) the back button worked before with Firefox?

    (2) don't you make changes before this problem?

According to your description, there is no problem with the material since it works with Internet Explorer and Google Chrome. Previous key does not only work with Firefox. Therefore, I would advice you to check with Firefox and see if that helps, because they have more expertise on products here to help you better.

  • "Back" button does not work with the latest version of any help?

Hi, I use the latest version. When I go through the pages, I can not be able to return to previous pages. The back button does not work. When I click the back button, the same page, it's not coming back... Any help would be much appreciated!

Start Firefox in Firefox to solve the issues in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > appearance/themes).

You can click right back or front button to open the history list.

You can hold down the left button of the mouse either back or next to the history tab list opens.

The current active entry has a bullet in front of it.

If you place an entry in the historic session with the mouse tab, so you see an arrow to the left pointing (rear) left or right (forward) to show the direction.

You can left click on an item to open it in the tab active or middle-click or Ctrl, click on an entry in this list to open that link in a new tab, just as you can with the other links.

  • My 8 Firefox Menu button does not work and neither does the right click in the window of firefox

It seems that all drop-down buttons in the browser, including the bookmarks dropdown in the toolbar and the main menu button (firefox), no longer work. This happened after that I upgraded to firefox 8. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling several times all also the removal of the preferences user and all that but that does not work. But everything seems to work properly in safe mode. So I disabled all my addons in the normal mode, but cela still does not resolve the problem. My right click does not anywhere in the browser window either. And also, although the menus are not displayed, it seems that they are still there because if I click in the area that a the function button active, that's how I was able to disable addons.

Safe mode disables extensions in Firefox 4 and later versions, and disables hardware acceleration.

    • Tools > Options > advanced > General > Browsing: "use hardware acceleration when available.

If disable hardware acceleration works then check if there is an update available for your graphics display driver.

  • Back button does not work when I try to enter a web address. I tried to reboot in safe mode without success. I also tried not refreshing, no chance. Any ideas?

I tried refreshing. I tried to start in safe mode. Still not working when I try to type a URL.

Maybe that is, although I don't think I have seen it reported on before Mac:

Due to the change how Firefox 39 associate keywords to bookmarks and history, the address bar is newly sensitive to corruption in the database that stores your history and bookmarks (the places.sqlite file).

The developers are working on a solution, but that could take weeks to reach you.

At this point, the best solution is to delete/rename the places.sqlite file, but then you lose all your history, if this really isn't very attractive to people who rely on history to revisit the sites.

In case you want to try this - in case you do not receive the best suggestions - here's how:

Open the settings folder (AKA Firefox profile) current Firefox help

    • button "3-bar" menu > "?" button > troubleshooting information
    • (menu bar) Help > troubleshooting information

In the first table of the page, click on the 'show in Finder' (Windows: "Show the file") button. This should launch a new window that lists your folders and files of different parameters.

Leave this window open, switch back to Firefox and Quit/exit, either:

    • "3-bar" menu button > button "power".
    • (menu bar) Firefox > Quit (Windows: File > Exit)

Pause while Firefox finishing its cleanup, then rename places.sqlite to something like oldplaces.sqlite. (I'm not suggesting delete this file, just in case you find yourself in need again).

Firefox creates temporary files related to places.sqlite and those should be renamed / remove as well. Check places.sqlite - shm and places.sqlite - wal and if you find them, rename them as well.

When you start Firefox back up again, he should start a new database places.sqlite and import your last backup automatic bookmark. Can you confirm that all your bookmarks are present? The address bar works normally again?

  • "Back" button does not work on any site. Thanks in advance for your help.

On a laptop with XP Pro. SP3. 32 bit. use FireFox 18. I restarted Firefox and restarted my laptop several times. This has been a problem since the last FireFox security update. • "back" button does not work in https google search

Search Google seems to have made mandatory https once connected. It breaks the history and behavior of the back button to the results page of google search on the results page. I think it's because google, clicking on a result link, redirects to the page of results through an intermediary, obfuscated url, which causes the back button to also redirect to the result page. It's exactly the same problem as described here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/892406?e=es & as = aaq for which there is no solution, that google does not disable https more. BTW, this behavior is not replicted on chrome, i.e., back button works correctly despite the intermediate redirection page.

    Hello

You can try the add-on NoScript which may help you.

  • When I open a new tab, the back button does not work on the second page, I discover - never the second page, regardless of the site.

When I opened a new tab - or when I first open a browser - as soon as I go to a second page, I can't go back to the first. Thus, for example, I opened a new tab. I go to a news site. I click on a title. I can not then go back to the first page of the new site. If I go back to the first page manually (by typing the url, or by opening a bookmark) and then click on the same heading, I'll be able to go back.

The inability to return only ever happens on the second page opens in a new tab or window. At any time, I can go back as normal - but the first page I was on that tab / in this window is erased from history.

This isn't something that's happened only with FF4, either. I first noticed a couple of weeks, but I upgraded shortly after, assuming it was a bug that would set the new browser. But it's always like that. He still refuses to back the second page of the first.

This problem may be caused by an extension (McAfee SiteAdvisor) that is not working properly.

Start Firefox in Firefox to solve the issues in Safe Mode to check if one of the Add-ons is the cause of the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Modules > appearance/themes).

    • Makes no changes on the start safe mode window.

    See:

  • When I open firefox, it opens a new tab and not my home page, the menu button does nothing when I click on it, and the back button does not work.

I tried to restart, because of multiple restorations system and nothing works.
