• Backup Vista network wireless on PC Client

  I've seen many comments in this regard, but fail to find a clear solution.

  The scenario...

  My Vista Premium client is wired to a modem/router ADSL Wireless.  The customer has a second 1 TB HARD drive installed to be used only for backups.  The issue is trying to save a Vista laptop wireless using the Vista backup program in system tools.  Both computers use the same workgroup name.

  I have created a shared folder on the backup drive called "laptop".  All actions necessary and safety issues are resolved.  I can create a file on the laptop and send it in without a problem drive backup destination folder.  When you run the Vista backup program, it creates a shot and then fails on the transfer immediately complain of not being able to access the folder (which is the correct path).  I have to admit, even getting to this point has been a task.  Understand the actions, security issues and password problems.  This is clearly a problem with the backup program, and I think probably related to security issues regarding the backup authentication protocol.  There, someone has a solution, and I sure can't find it around Ms.  It's funny how W7 doesn't have this problem.

  Note: once the boot minimum finished troubleshooting, move the computer to a normal startup, boot is just to make sure there are no other software interfering

• Licenses for Windows 7 Pro on a redundant "Server"

  I support for a local dental practice (~ 12 workstations) and, recently, their waiter, who was 10 years old dies and we moved on to a more recent machine. Because of the dental software they use, there are restrictions on this operating system, they can use. Therefore, because it is not in a domain configuration, we ran Windows 7 Pro on all machines. In order to avoid the 2-3 days of chaos, if the server is down, I want to put up with a redundant server (same hardware, same o/s, same configuration, always enabled for database backups can be loaded on it).

  • Is it possible to run this server in the license limit without buying an additional license of W7?

  I am aware that there are other ways around this problem. However, given that this will be a server that can be installed immediately in case of failure of the system on the primary server, I want to avoid potential problems when you connect to this hot spare in their network.

  Basically, what you create is a backup domain controller. Which version of Windows Server is currently on the machine?

  You could create configure Windows Server as a member server, if the PDC fails, users can still access the network and services on the backup authentication log ons member server.

• PIX, PDM and AAA issues

  I have a PIX 520 in the laboratory running 6.3.3 and PDM 3.0. I tested AAA authentication and authorization to our ACS server and run into problems.

  I have two groups put in place on our ACS server. A group can be accessed freely, the other group is set to the top with a Shell command authorization set that limit orders so that they can watch the running-config and a few other things. Users of both groups can connect to the PDM or SSH/telnet/series in the unit and are authenticated and authorized correctly.

  The configuration below works fine, until I pull the ACS server off the network. Because it is not any backup authentication or authorization to order method I am dead in the water. When this happens, I can always connect via the serial console, by using the 'pix' username and password enable, I just cannot run the command 'Enable' mode privlieged or any other control besides. (I get an error "Permission has no orders").

  Here's a current configuration:

  Sorry, I missed this earlier. There is a failure on the PIX for this and we have an open enhancement request to add several methods of authorization to the PIX - CSCea04538. At this point, your best bet is to bug of your account team to get this feature added to the code of PIX to come. Sorry for the inconveinence.

  An update for you to know that this isn't a problem.

  I have re-implemented solution (recreated portfolio / updated the rman script to remove password) and his works now.

  I'll go through this myself to see what I missed the first time.

  Once you set up a group to use Radius Authentication, then it will only use the Radius Authentication, it will not fail during theInternal of database failure.

  What you can do is to set up a second Radius server in the hub, and if it is not answer first that there are failed over and try the second. As I said though, it will not failover to a different authentication mechanism.

  It may be useful to follow the steps here, as the case may be:

  • If iTunes does not recognize your iPhone, iPad or iPod - Apple Support
  • If you see an error when you update or restore your iPhone, iPad or iPod - Apple Support
  • If your iTunes backup could not be completed or you cannot restore from a backup - Apple Support

  When connecting your iPhone to your computer, make sure you use a certified by Apple or an Apple original cable / cable of the IFM. If you are already doing so, try to use another cable of the same type (that is, only it is authentic or certified).

  I did dial using samples of software and music on a PC.  I had always taken full disk image of my entire system backups so that if something goes wrong, I could simply restore the image and proceed as if nothing had ever happened.  For most of the problems (disk failure, virus, etc.), it was a great strategy.  However I had a breakdown of motherboard full and irreparable and, (thanks Microsoft), I'm out of luck.  Authentication of Microsoft's operating system does not restore a disk image on a new motherboard hardware - especially if the operating system is OEM - which mine was.  The operating system detects a new PC and will not work without a new Microsoft code - which you won't get.

  So, my question:

  The Apple OS is free of these authentication issues?  How the material would have to modify (not counting devices - that could be examined by the update of drivers) so although it could not be simply load back a disk image and just go, eliminating all the tedious software installs and configurations that would be necessary if I had to start the OS from scratch?
