How to get files from a backup external hard drive for windows 7 pro. ? I DON'T WANT TO RESTORE WINDOWS 7, JUST MY PHOTOS & DOCUMENTS.    TO THANK THE TAXI 53 DRIVER

    Hello

Thanks for posting your question on the Microsoft community.

Thank you for details on the issue.

You can restore backed up files lost, damaged, or accidentally modified versions. You also to restore files individual, groups of files, or all files that you have saved.

If you are restoring files from a backup that was made on another computer, the files are restored in a folder under the user name that was used to create the backup. If the user names are different, you must navigate to the folder where the files are restored.

I suggest you use the steps in this article and check if it helps.

  • Windows 7 and bios sees not the hard drive, but when I connect the hard drive to the USB with an adapter, I see directories and files

    Please, I need pc

Original title: windows 7 and bios does not see the hard drive. but when I connect the hard drive to the USB with an adapter, I see directories and files... Ive a hp Pavilion, what to do?

Check the BIOS for hard drive setting.

Make sure that you do not connect the drive to a SATA/RAID port.

Old IDE drives - check the jumper on the drive (use "Cable Select" as a starting point), the BIOS must also be set in legacy/compatibility/IDE mode. Note: If you currently use the AHCI mode, then switch to IDE mode may cause Windows to boot.

  • Previews old stalemate in backups from hard drive

When I backup my hard drive to another hard drive, using software of Vica-Versa, there are often many (thousands) of former LR preview files that should be deleted on the backup drive.  With Vica-Versa just failed process and can take forever.  I tried several other backup programs and that you have found no solution.  Is there a way to prevent the creation of previews of all LR?  I know that would slow me as I work with Lightroom, but right now I'd be willing to wait a little longer for an overview to be reconstructed only so must be faced with the incredible amount of time it takes to backup my hard drive.  Any suggestions?  Thank you.  Frank.  [email protected]

    Frank,

You don't really need to backup your previews. You can't tell your backup for just program save the LR database and skip the previews? It seems a better solution that having not realized at all, which would make it nearly totally useless LR.

Most backup programs will allow you to select what is backed up. If yours is not, perhaps a better solution would be to find another.

  • Inherit backup external hard drive history never asked?

After I set up my new iMac, I did a new migration between my old Macbook Pro and iMac. Migration process went perfectly, but when connecting my external hard drives with my Time machine backups I expected to see the option: "inherit the backup history. I asked before on this forum, because I was wondering what to expect and wanted to ensure that I can could continue my TM backups on the new iMac. See the link:

    https://discussions.Apple.com/thread/7113665

But the question "Inherit the backup history" is never applied when plugin my TM backup hard disks only the option 'new backup"and my question is why? And how this can be solved? Hope that someone knows more about this and can help me, would be much appreciated!

The four balls in this article explain the circumstances in which you are offered "Inherit historical backup."  Probably you don't have one of these four balls during this latest initiative.

  • Time Machine backup external hard drives

I've been using Time Machine to back up to an external hard drive.  External hard drive backups are visible in TimeMachine when the external hard drive is connected to the computer. How can I see the backups if the external drive is lost?

External hard drive backup is buried in the backup.

    http://pondini.org/TM/32.html

I strongly recommend using an alternative backup software like Carbon Copy Cloner. Allows you to separate the backups. Time Machine does not work.

  • Best way backup external hard drives?

    SYSTEM INFORMATION:

    HP Pavilion PU131AV / a1050y, Intel Pentium 4 CPU 3.20 GHz, 2 GB RAM, Windows XP MCE, SP3 32-bit, Nvidia GeForce 6600

CURRENT BACKUP METHOD: I have three external hard drives (200 GB, 300GB, 750GB) all connected via USB.  I use the 750Go to back up the data on my 200 and 300 GB.  Currently, I manually copy all the files from the 750 GB smaller hard drives to save them.  It's very tedious because it takes about 5 hours to copy 200 GB of data.

QUESTION: I've never used the 'Backup Now' tool (right click on the drive / properties / tools / backup now) to back up external hard drives.  It would be a better option for me instead of manually copying files to a post of h/d to another?  Can I automate backups?  How can I retrieve the backup should I need the data backup?

    Thank you very much

    Angela

  • Backup external hard drive

I recently bought a computer with Vista Home Premium 32 bit. I attached an external hard drive to it. I want to keep the clean C drive with only the OS and programs held on this subject. The external hard drive contains files of data and images. I have attached a second external hard drive to the computer. I want to be able to plan a backup from the first disk to the second external drive, but the backup and Recovery wizard seems to allow only a backup of the drive C. is there something that I am missing in the wizard? Or is there something else I can do for my first external backup drive?

    Thanks for the help!

    Hi rdenn_58,

    Thanks for posting your request.

The back up files Wizard, included in Windows Vista Home Basic Edition, Windows Vista Home Premium, Windows Vista professional, Windows Vista business and Windows Vista Ultimate Edition, allows you to save your files and data from an external hard drive, CD, DVD, network location and also a secondary hard drive. Although there is no option to schedule a backup to an external drive to a second external drive using the Back Up Files Wizard.

To copy or move files from one external drive to another, you can use the following steps:

You can create a backup of the files on a CD or DVD before you copy or move files.

To copy the files from the first disk to the second external drive, you can use Windows Explorer by going to: start > click computer > double click on the drive letter for the first external drive and then copy the files / folders that you want to back up, and then paste the second external disk drive by opening a second window of the computer. You can also drag and drop files from the first disk to the second external drive using Windows Explorer.

For reference below is a useful link to more information. using the backup center and restoration:

In general, you can not do this. With a few exceptions, all the
