Backup stops at 25%. No error message. Same thing with internal & remote CD/DVD drive.

  • What you have already tried to solve the problem

Update: managed to stop the backup. Action Center is more said backup is running.

1. Click Start backup.
2 CD/DVD remote drive used in the previous backup not found.
3 drive attached. Recognized.
4. not found disk backup.
5 inserted the previous backup drive.
6 backup starts playing files on C:
7. backup reached 25% full.
8 burn disk starts, the drive led indicates data transfer for @ 1 minute.
9 drive activity slows down to flashing slow, spinning disk does not stop.
10. wait 30 minutes... disc still spinning, backup to a standstill.
11. click on cancel the backup. The disc rotates after additional 10 minutes.
12. open the Task Manager.
13. close the centers backup application & action. Drive is still running.
14. click on safe to remove the device to the remote drive icon / G:
15. the disc ejects, I unplug the drive.
16. action center said is no longer the current backup.

If I start the new backup again with a new disc the process stalls again to 25%. This occurs with an external drive and internal. Backup to disk folder is empty. I lost 10 blank DVDs.

This problem may occur if there are bad sectors on the hard drive or an obstacle to the process of backup caused by security software.

I would suggest trying the following steps and then try the backup again.

Step 1: Disable security software, follow the steps mentioned below

Note: Activate security software once everything is done.

Step 2: Put the computer in a clean boot

Perform a clean boot (see step 1 in the link); If everything works well after a clean boot, you can deduce that some third-party services are at the origin of the problem.

Important: n ' forget not the computer to start normal follow step 7 in the link.

Step 3: Run Check disk to repair bad sectors on the hard disk.

a. Click Start, in the start search bar type cmd, right-click on the command prompt icon in the box programs and then click Run as administrator.

b. at the command prompt type chkdsk/f , and then press ENTER.

Now, type chkdsk /r and press enter

Restart the computer, after the Chkdsk scan; try to do a backup on a CD/DVD RW (reading / writing) disks.
