Backup/synchronization icon Organizer

How can I remove the small gray icon for backup/synchronization of my menu bar? I use a macbook. When I opened the Menu Preferences > backup/sync, I get an error message ("there was an error opening the backup/synchronization preferences. Please close preferences and try again. ") I tried to access this menu for several days in the hope there is an option to remove the icon, but I got this error message. I closed Organizer and reopened. I have also restarted my computer, but continue to receive the error message and may not know how to remove the icon. Make a right-click of the icon only gives me options ' backup/sync now', 'Pause' or 'Stop '. Thank you.

    Hello

Backup/sync no longer works on my PSE7 catalog. I used it for over a year, it has just started this month. I have some new pictures to download, and a bunch that just need to synchronize again due to a minor change (I renamed the Windows folder, they are stored in).

When I run PSE7, backup/synchronization starts. After about 20 minutes, he died. Icon (two arrows) element becomes black. No images synchronize or transfer during this period. Icon in the toolbar State Windows sys goes.

What backup/synchronization starts, I can see in the Manager of tasks as PhotoshopElementsSyncAgent.exe

  • Synchronization icons missing

I'm working on MacOS Yosemite. I have the latest version creative Cloud (2.3.0.151). I discovered the Cloud Creative folder no longer displays the synchronization icons. Or they were very useful (or necessary) to track down the poorly named files and therefore not synchronized (is my case now, and suddenly I'm stuck). Is this normal, or is there a way to find these icons?

Do you want to say that you have converted the catalogue organizing elements 11 elements Organizer 13, using the file Menu/manage catalogs/Catalog Manager of the organizing elements 13 and the option convert here?

I have converted my organizing elements 11 elements Organizer 13 catalogue and saw no change in the first 13 elements welcome screen.

    Everything is like.

As a point of reference, in the first elements 11 welcome screen, the icon of the Organizer is turquoise and the video icon is purple.

    All normal.

Remember, you are not really match organizers items 11 to 13, you convert the organizing elements 11 elements Organizer 13 catalog. Initial organizing 11 items is not changed in the 11, but is not updated when you make changes in the catalogue of convert in organizing elements 13.

Bottom Line: Everything seems normal until now for your homescreen to 13.

  • Backup data/Options - 8 Adobe elements Organizer

Recently, I have Adobe Photoshop Elements 8 and some question about the option of backup of the Organizer.

Is it possible to save your personal/catalogus settings without saving the photos?

Since when I click on the button full backup selected Catalogus is supported including photos.

However, for me this useless since I already save my photocollection automatically.

Backup of photos via Adobe would mean another backup which is a useless consumption of hard drive AND in my case.

Also, I know there is an option whereby you can add data such as meta tags (except the information of the album for which I know it cannot be stored in the properties of the photo) to a photo.

Does include also - stacked photo information - what I say or try to explain-I stacked for example 4 photos. When I reinstall PSE8 and add photos to the catalogus again (without the backup option) must recognize / know the photos were / are part of a stacked collection?

Or this kind of information can be restored only with the version based on backup.

In short can I save a catalogus stacked container / album information without the use of the function of backup or the need to safeguard the real photos too?

    Kind regards

The file-> backup catalog command creates backups of the catalog file and pictures.

You can back up your catalog "manually" by making a copy of the file catalog (*.pse8db) on another physical disk.

Stack and album are never stored in the files of photos; It exists only in the catalog file.

When I reinstall PSE8 and add photos to the catalogus again (without the backup option) must recognize / know the photos were / are part of a stacked collection?

If you need to reinstall PSE8 on the same hard drive (assuming it has not been formatted), should not affect your catalog somehow. There is no need for you (and in fact, it is a very bad idea) to add pictures to the catalog. Which brings up the question... why you are considering reinstall PSE8? What problem does this solve? Normally you would not reinstall PSE8, and this does not resolve some of the problems that people think that this will solve.

  • Album does not save it properly; can't see status of backup in the preferences; cannot disconnect.

I use PSE 9, currently on the Mac (moved from PES 9 on PC about two months ago). I noticed that the last album, which I have added to the PSE has yet the indication of backup head double arrow next to it, and these images are indeed not in my online account. Generally, this happened on my PC, as I click the account as in PES, enter my password and no matter what I would say that it was incorrect. I'd hit him then "disconnect", re - enter my credentials with the same password I had used, and the system would begin then successfully back up again.

Unfortunately on the Mac, when I hit the "Sign out" link in the dialog box asking my password (after clicking on my link "welcome...") ("in PSE), he doesn't sign me out - he paused for 20-30 seconds with the color wheel, then just shows that I'm always connected. If I try to go to preferences-> backup, I get a message that there was a problem and I should re - open the preferences later. If I force the background backup process to stop by rt - by clicking on the icon in the Mac menu bar, it indeed closes correctly; However, when I reactivate it is PSE under preferences, as soon as I touched the checkbox, it tries to connect to my account online, and then gives me the same error saying I should «...» Close preferences and try again. »

Can someone give me some advice as to why a) the backup in PSE 9 finally seems to fail and must be disconnected / reconnected b) why the "Déconnexion" link does not work, or why my password is not accepted within PSE only?

Yes, I was able to connect via a browser (or same PES - just not the Organizer!) all this time and I use only about half of my space.

I also posted on another forum PES and was directed to the solution - I had to remove the com Adobe.Pulse.plist file in my user library path and voila' I was able to connect inside the PSE Organizer and re - start the backup synchronization.  You don't know why the problem occurred, but this fixed!

  • Catalog backup problem

Save my catalog takes hours... An incremental save after adding just 1 foto has taken more than 1/2 hour. That's why I want to use Acronis that is much faster. I save the photos and I have record catalog information. It would be OK if I save c/programs/adobe for the catalog?

    captain_db wrote:

You mean: save your catalogue and your image folders tree takes hours. Yes, it's time to write a copy of everything to a new location. It takes about the same time the first time you do this "backup" with all software, including Acronis (I use Acronis). Incremental backups in the items are not very fast.

That's why I want to use Acronis that is much faster. I save the photos and I have record catalog information.

The catalog information is stored in a folder of catalogue (with the name of the catalog). Use the Help menu > information system to find its location and its size. It is by default in a folder in the Windows Explorer, so you will need to "show the hidden files and folders". Because the catalog does not contain file image, its size is small enough to be copied or backed up very quickly. You can do this from the Explorer or, why not, by Acronis.

It would be OK if I save c/programs/adobe for the catalog?

The main purpose and the advantage of Acronis is that it can restore an entire disk, including the main one with Windows and your training programs to another disk in the case of migration of crash or computer drive. I do full backups in Acronis at intervals. It is a comprehensive solution, not only a solution for my photos, catalogues and library.

You can also selectively, use Acronis backup folders, disks or partitions.

The big advantage of the backup/restore of the Organizer, is that it can restore catalogue and the library to another drive or computer, while keeping the links in the catalog to the new location of the files restored photo. If you library and backup separately catalog file and restore to a new drive or a computer with a different backup system, the links will be lost, and all the files are displayed as "missing" or "disconnected". The backup of the Organizer also invites you to convert the catalog to a new format of version if necessary. If you use Acronis as a utility "clone", your readers will be restored completely with all of your other programs and data, no problem to reconnect, but it will be not much faster.

If you want a backup strategy to be able to save a lot of time (which means more security...), you can use several methods together like me.

-J' using the Windows 'Syntoy"tool to sync my library and my catalogs on an external drive. Once the first synchronization is performed, the update after an editing session is extremely fast. Who does not update the links in the catalog, but it is fine if I "sync back" to the original disk even.

-At intervals and when I know I have to migrate to another drive or computer, I do a full backup of the Organizer.

-Intervals, when I have the time, or after you install new software, I also create full backups of Acronis; which saves everything, but that takes time. This is the solution for all my programs and data, not only for my library and catalogues.

    Edit:

Who does not update the links in the catalog

I mean that if I restore it on the same drive, the links will be kept, but if I restore on a new drive or the computer, the links in the catalogue art always the old drive...

Looking for the location of your catalog in the menu help > system information. It's all the folder containing the database file catalog.pse14db.

It's easy to synchronize your catalog...

    But...

Even if the media folder tree has the same structure, which does not work and all your files will be displayed as "offline" in the catalog synchronized. The reason is that the catalogue in computer stores the location of the media files by the full path AND the identification of the drive (internal serial number). The synchronized catalog will not find files on computer B.

So, what would be your choice?

-Store your multimedia files on an external drive and plug it alternately on both computers. No need to synchronize media files; You can even save the catalog on the external drive, no need to synchronize the catalog folder either. Downside: who does not act as a backup. You can use your sync as a simple backup to restore in the drive of origin if necessary.

-According to John R Ellis, you can assign the same serial number for both drives.

psedbtool (database of the elements of Photoshop tool)

I have not tested this, but it should work.

-The good old method of backup and restore, forgetting the 'sync' is slow, but much more secure (you have two copies over a backup). The HUGE advantage is that you can easily migrate to another computer and still another version of elements, even another OS.

-My own solution requires some fiddling with the sqlite database and a good understanding of the structure of the database. I have syncs media and catalog or via Synctoy Windows files on an external drive. I create a copy of the catalog I have change in sqlite to point to the serial number of the external drive. The catalogue of the external drive and media are available to any computer with the same version of elements. The advantage of the 'synctoy' method is that it is much easier and faster than an incremental backup in the Organizer.

  • Photoshop and backup on time machine Photos

Hi, I have a MacBook Pro when I installed Photoshop Elements. I have a good collection of more than 17000 photos that are in the Organizer in Photoshop elements (photos Photoshop app organization). I take a backup of my machine on an external hard drive through a Time machine. I want to know if the backup contains pictures located in the Photoshop elements Organizer. If so then if I need to reproduce these images on another computer I will be able to do. If the backup Time machine does not include pictures, so if I take how to.

The backup must include Organizer, except if you have excluded in System Preferences/Time Machine. Why not copy the Organizer existing to the other computer, rather than use Time Machine?

On the F drive backup icon appears, but it seems to be empty or such. What I do wqrong? I need your HELP, please and thank you: HDScala

    Hi JoelJ1964,

Thank you very much for your help. Before using this laptop, I used my old computer with WIN XP Pro and Office 2003. I was able to back up to the external hard drive F and then open and work with files or files, as in copy and paste to the C drive everything I need. Office 2007 does not work the same? I use Windows XP pro here as well. In addition, I seem to have several folders "My Documents" on "My Computer" tree. A top under the desk, then 'User' in Documents and Settings, I 'My Documents' and 'recent Documents '. In the latter folder, I found all the backups, many icons, real backup folder containing only 1 KB, and most appear to be shortcuts. I simply do not know what is happening here, although some files or folders are containing the info that I have previously saved in My Documents.

How can I know what a folder, when I returned to the Backup Wizard, follow the instructions in the wizard and the file or restore the right folder? I'll be able to see this only restored?

    Any suggestions or help or advise would be appreciated. Best regards, HDScala;

    Hi HDScala;

With all due respect, you're wrong to be able to open and edit files after using backup windows on your other computer. Using the backup utility is not the same as copy and paste. When you use backup image is created similar to the image below. When you use copy / paste, you are able to access immediately, open and edit the file. Backup doesn't work the same way. It compresses the files you selected to save then creates an image of the same thing. There is no option to change the format that uses the backup utility files.

The link below is a tutorial on windos xp backup utility.

    http://www.Microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/Setup/learnmore/bott_03july14.mspx

As for the several folders "My documents" you see, there's such a folder for each user account on the computer, including the default Administrator account. These records are quite normal.

The only strange thing, that you have pointed out the fact that you see the individual files in recent Documents. You should see the image created by the backup utility along with the documents you accessed physically.
