Backup VCS password question

Hey all,.

If I have a backup VCS file, is there a way to reset the password 'admin' or 'root' in the backup file before loading it to the new VCS?  We get a lot of files from backup VCS for troubleshooting purposes, and when download us them to our laboratory VCS' are we can get is more in them without restarting the VCS physically and do "pwrec".

Thank you

Justin

Hi Justin,

I think that the download you do is via web GUI and after downloading, it brings back to the login window.

Can you confirm if you are able to connect to root after pushing back the file. If so, then try this.

-Connect to root and run the command tsh

-you would be now in guest of admin

-create a temporary account to connect to the web using the commands below

XConfiguration SystemUnit AdminAccount 3 name:

Ok

XConfiguration SystemUnit AdminAccount 3 password:

Ok

XConfiguration SystemUnit AdminAccount 3 access: ReadWrite

Ok

You can access web GUI by using this account. However please note that this newly create impossible to connect to the command line.

Now reset the password for the original administrator account. disconnect and connect using the original admin account.

Once logged in you can delete the temporary account that you created.

Note: All this can be done if you have access to the root account.

Thank you

Alok

Occasionally, it may restart because something was wrong. It is not a problem unless this happens frequently.

  • IPhone are erased and backup encrypted password

So I have an iPhone 5s than my 3 year old found this morning.  When I got to him, the Hello screen was all that was present.  It is a company phone and they need the feature of data erase after 5 invalid password attempts.  I backed up in June, he was so that big of an issue of concern.  However, I do not remember encrypt or backup by specifying a password, but I may have.  However, I couldn't get iTunes to accept the a passwords I tried to restore the backup.  To get my phone goes, I decided just to set it up as a new and restore it later once I had more time to try more passwords.  In doing so, he also created a new backup which I set up a password for.  There are two different backups available to try, the recent is 15 MB and the older one is 3 GB, which reminds me that my data are there.  However, I can't unlock the backup.  The password is on the phone or on the computer?  Another way to recover this data?  I know that Apple shows the password is not recoverable.  I have a computer with Windows 7.

I'm sorry.  You know only the password.

  • Encrypted backup, no password

Hi everyone, hoping you can help me...

iPhone 6s was damaged and fell into the water.  Screen completely black, but still able to answer calls by hitting swiping and using earphones.  If anything.

We have arranged for a replacement by Telstra Stay Connected.

I managed to save the damaged phone ("blindly") on another computer, however "encrypted" "" was already checked and there was no prompt to create a password.

So we have now a full and perfect backup stuck inside my computer, but cannot be accessed without this password of mystery.

Also, without this password that I can't turn off the encryption option to create a new backup off the old phone.

Please let me know what are my options?  The damaged phone screen is completely black.  The backup is encrypted.  We have less than 2 weeks to return the phone to Telstra.

    Thanking you in advance...

The more "common" passwords that have worked are 'Apple' and '1234 '.

You have access to a computer for which you have backed up the phone?

  • iTunes backup encrypted - password forgotten

I started to do encrypted backups from my iPhone to my computer in iTunes, but I forgot the password.

I don't want to erase my phone completely and start all over again.

Is it possible to "throw" the current encrypted backup and start an encrypted backup 'new' with a password that I won't lose this time?

I don't want to just save the backup to that one costed upwards I can never access.

    Thanks, Flyguy

(PS - Yes, setting a password and then do not store a safe place is a really stupid thing to do)

If you are lucky to have the password in the keychain, then proceed as follows. http://osxdaily.com/2013/06/26/recover-lost-encrypted-backup-password-iOS/

  • How to remove iphone backup current password (do not remember) and set a new?

I want to backup my iPhone 5 s before installing the next update of the os, but don't remember the password encrypted backup. I would like to delete the previous backups and the password and create a new backup with a new password. How do I do that?

You can't do it. If you could it would be a huge security hole. Your choice is to guess the password, or to save on iCloud (which is automatically encrypted using the phone built in encryption).

If you want to try guessing click 'Change password' in iTunes, as it ask the password immediately. You get unlimited assumptions. If you're like most people, it's a password you have used in the past.

  • Password question

OK, I have one piece of advice I need as you guys. I am creating my first app bb10, and that the app is a webservice that needs a user and a password to retrieve some JsonData. Right now my application to the user and the password of the user and I wish I could keep this info so that the user doesn't have to enter its pwd all the time. Now, I was wondering where should I be storing this info as it is sensitive? I was thinking about the DDT of hash and put it in the QSettings but I fear that it is not sufficiently secure. Can anyone of you let me know the best practices for this.

    Thank you.

All the data your application stores generally will visit in his file 'data', and I think this includes QSettings data (unless you somehow make that write elsewhere.) See https://developer.blackberry.com/cascades/documentation/device_platform/filesystem/index.html

This data field 'sandbox' is well protected from other applications, so that your application can access. If your application is uninstalled, its data area of sandbox is removed as well. From v2.0.1 even "app" backups, which include these data are encrypted using a key of specific BBID to which the user has no direct access. (Only restore to another device PlayBook or configured with the same BBID BB10 can always restore the data, and even then it will still be available only to your own application.) • BBM I forgot my password question and blackberry security

Hi, I forgot my password and the blackberry security question, I don't want to lose all my stops somehow and the downloaded items of the Blackberry world... is there another way? thnx

Using a PC browser, go to www.bbid.com and see if you can reset your password.

When you set up your BBID it would be you sent an email asking you to verify your BBID by clicking on a link in this email. If you checked you can reset your password to www.bbid.com without a security answer.

If you do not check the BBID then you need TO answer your security question. If you can't answer, then, if you still have the original e-mail, you can use it to remove the BBID and re-create it. You will lose all data associated with it like BBM contacts, however.

If you do not have the original email, you will need to create a new BBID with a new email address.

  • Backup BIOS password

What is the password for hp probook 445 G1 backup BIOS.

I have never heard of what you're asking.

You wanted to probably say admin or bassword backdoor password.

Unfortunately, the class books business, as yours have very strong security.

Only an HP Service Center or a BIOS company can help by removing the CMOS of the BIOS chip. They will have to replace it with a chip programmed with the appropriate ROM BIOS file which is by default without password.

    Contact HP directly.

  • VCS Cluster question

    Hey all,.

We have two VCS highways in a cluster.  A VCS is on a tour of the Internet and the other is on a circuit separate from another provider.  The Internet provider for one sucks VCS for video, its only necessary as a backup circuit.  I put this VCS in maintenance mode until the circuit feeding the other VCS fails?  In this way, all records are forced to the VCS with the best circuit of the Internet.

If a VCS is in maintenance mode, will always be synchronized across the cluster?

    Thank you

    Justin-

I went forward a sale of our peers CV in maintenance mode earlier today to work around a problem, and it is always on at this point.  Check the page clustering on the mask of the VCS, it shows that the peer is still active.  Having the status of the replication of successful, even up to present any minute.  It seems that everything is going well, but like you if it would be good to hear from someone official.  Even if we force a counterpart basically be in a passive state until get us out maintenance ourselves to become active.  Unlike a cluster of 6 peers where the last two automatically become active when one of the 4 main counterparts breaks down.

  • Backup - Snapshot issue / question.

    Greetings,

I have a fairly new 5.5 ESXi update 2 installation (Essentials). (September 2014).  Currently, I have only a VM on it. It is a stand-alone Server SBS 2011 standard conversion.  The virtual machine works fine without any problems.

The only issue I'm having is with my Barracuda backup system.   It fails at the end of the backup while trying to create a snapshot. I know what you think.  "Why I write this here? '...

I go back with the support of Barracuda.  Everything that they asked me to check, host-wise, wise system and guest-wise I could do and are come empty-handed.  See between the asterisks below for tit last correspondence I had with them (they did the highlighting).

I'm not very well the workings of VMware, so I don't really know where to go from here. Because I came before empty, I'm not even sure that Barracuda is on the right track here.  But I need to get back to them before they will help me any further.  I just need to some advice and assistance to determine if it actually, the question, and if it is, how to remedy or continue troubleshooting.

Thanks for any idea and assistance, you may be able to provide me with.

    PEI

    Start of Barracuda support *.

"Look in the error, I see that it looks to be another process running at the same time the backup is running or something is not finished before start backups." "That's what I see in the newspaper of bbs:

26 Dec 11:31: 27 2014 barracuda backupd [14271]: failed to create the snapshot (vim25_TaskInProgress): another task is already underway.
26 Dec 11:31: 27 2014 barracuda backupd [14271]: fatal: could not create any backup host vmware snapshot: SFD-SRV1. Stratfire.local

End of support for Barracuda *.

    Hi p...

The list of files seems ok now?  It's much better from my point of view...

If so, it looks like success all around. See the attached list after deleting all.  I'll remind the Barracuda.

I can't thank you enough for all your help and patience.  You really are an asset to the VMware forum community.  Thank you for taking the time to work with me. I learned a bit about yourself.

    Thanks again

    P.

  • Is my iCloud Keychain backup my passwords correctly and surely?

Hello. I went through the following thing: when I go in the Safari preferences and uncheck the AutoFill usernames and passwords in the password tab, I get fillings auto on the names of user/password despite the fact that I have my active bunch. Then I check again and I have this-> (screenshot) is at all good with my keychain and is it correctly back up?

To get what you want, leaving Autofill user names and password checked in Safari will give you better results.

  • Key ring with password question

I wanted to get my preferred airport for my home wireless pw.

In the Keyring there is an entry marked 'System' and one marked 'local products '.

"Local" elements I'm invited for my pw with the message that it wants to access the keychain of local items and then shows me the pw. That's ok

Interestingly, the system asked me also to an IPL with the message that OSX wants to make changes, please enter a name of Directors and password. I can't even cross it with 'root '.

    What happens here?

    Hello

Quit Keychain Access, and open it again. Type in the name and the administrator password you carefully and press on allow. It should work this time.
