Backups of Photos

How to make backups of Photos on an external drive?

I have an external hard drive with photos.

The easiest way is to drag your library of Photos of the pictures of your external drive folder. This will create a copy of your library on the external hard drive.

Or select all the photos in your photo library, and then use the command "file > export" to write copies of your pictures in a folder on your external drive.

Is your photo library a library with the option "Optimize Mac Storage" on iCloud?  Then copy the library will not save your Photos. In this case, use the "file > export".

How can I disable the automatic backup in Photo Viewer?

    Hello

Please note the last changes you make on your computer will be automatically saved on your computer and which will be unchanged, unless you change it again on your computer.

As it is a design, there is nothing we can do from our end.

Time Machine is the best option. You will need an external drive to store the backups, 2 to 3 times the size of the drive is internal.

  • This is - HP Recovery Manager - file NOT back up backup RAW photo files?

My HP Pavilion dv7 laptop computer crashed.  By using the choices on the screen, I saved 'Images' (among other categories) to an external hard drive.  To be sure, I had it all, I downloaded the backup file to another HP computer (by using the "Restore.exe" program in the backup folder).  the only saved pictures seem to be ".jpg" or ".tiff" format  Most of my photos are in RAW format.  HP recovery program does not copy the RAW images?  Find it me hard to believe that HP would not design its recovery program to recover all picture formats.  If this isn't the case, it is a potential disaster.

You can try to boot from a Linux live CD to the rescue of the photos:

  • How to extract deleted the file from itunes backup iPhone photos

I bought an iPhone 16G 6 s two months ago and the storage is in short lately. So I deleted a large number of items than the iPhone, especially for photos and videos. But now, I realized there were 3 important photos deleted by mistake. Luckliy, I backed up the device with iTunes. I know that iTunes is the official way to restore an iPhone. In my case, I only need to restore these 3 photos, there is no need to restore the whole itunes backup. How can I retrieve pictures only from the backup file?

You can't isolate only the photos in the backup file

You will need to do a restore - fix these pictures and re delete others

  • How backup complete photos and catalog on external hard drive?

I want to backup my entire LR library on an external drive for security. I want the backup to include photos as well as all the metadata of. I can't do it, and I can't find a similar question and answer on the forum. I am able to 'Export' pictures on my external hard drive, but the metadata file that gets exported is unreadable.

Please advise me how to do this simple and necessary procedure. Thanks in advance.

    Two steps to be completed-

    1. When you close the Lightroom program you should let make a backup of the CATALOG . OFTEN!

This is defined in the catalog preferences [Ctrl + Alt +] [Ctrl/Cmd + Alt + comma]

The catalog stores everything you do in the Lightroom program! including metadata.

AND save backups of the catalog to another physical disk (NOT in the same folder as the Lightroom program!)

    2. your original images must be 'Backed-up' or copied to a second location on a different physical drive your chosen method (and not by Lightroom)

Mac users can use {Time Machine}, PC users can use {SyncBack, Free File Sync, etc.)

    * It is usually not necessary to 'Export' all images unless you have a specific purpose - for example to post on Facebook, Pinterest, web page, printer, etc..

There is no object in the export of images from archive on your computer, if Lightroom has a catalogue of work!

  • Recover backup library/Photos?

I have re-installed Win7 last week, after a backup completes on an external drive.

I have re-installed LR5 and now I want to recover the libraries/photos in this backup.  After a few attempts, it is clear, I have no idea what to do.

Here is what I have (copied to a folder on my desk):

    Back-up

    ============================

    1 Lightroom Catalog.lrcat 4

    2 Lightroom 4 catalog Previews.lrdata

    3 Lightroom Catalog.lrcat 5

    4 Previews.lrdata catalog Lightroom 5

Note: I've added a few photos for the current catalog of the LR5

    Any suggestions for this task?

    Thank you!

    Mark

Move the photos to the same exact location that they were before your re-installed Win7

Move the .lrcat files two to HDD internal (assuming that is where you want your catalogs to be) and then double-click on your computer on them.

  • Problem with the backup location Photo

I just started using LR 4 for the first time.  On my first import, that I chose newly imported backup photos automatically on a device of spare hard drive on my Mac that I hadn't previously used.  After I finished with LR, I closed out of the app.  So I decided (Yes, it seemed a good idea at the time) to rename the hard drive, I decided to use for backups of my photo for "Photo Backup Drive.  However, when I then open LR, the ability to record automatic backups is grayed out.

The option still listed the former name of the hard drive, so I went back in and renamed that animate its original name.  Back in LR, the option was nevertheless still grayed out.  You can see the name of path (initially selected before I renamed the reader), but the check box is not available and you cannot change the option.  It seems that the program was not able to recognize the change of name of path and then just locked up.  Does anyone know a way to reset this option from one location other than the normal selection point?

Note, this is the place for my photos of automatic backup, not the rear location for my catalog (which is always the default file location 'Photos' and works very well).

OK, problem solved.  It was not at all a problem of LR.  I didn't realize that when first go you back in the window "import" the Central selection automatically default the option "add" (to import a photo without moving or copying this).  Therefore, if you choose "Copy" or "copy as DNG' rather than 'Add', the possibility to choose a location for an automatic backup becomes non-greyed and the tick becomes available.  You can then use the selector drop-down list of re - choose the location of your backup files (and it recognizes the current name of everything that you hard drives, even if you changed just one of them).  You can then delete any old path names.

It was just a coincidence that she appeared to grey out after that I changed the name of the drive.

Thanks to everyone who watched it and started trying to find an answer.

  • Backup of photos in PSE 8

Whenever I have save photos using PSE 8, it backs up not only my photos, but also dozens and dozens of xmp files, as well as files of a dozen who have a music note on them, which I guess is a music to accompany a slideshow or something. I checked preferences and have looked everywhere I can think of to try to eliminate the unnecessary backup files (not image files). It's especially annoying when I do a backup on a non-rewritable DVD. Not much, but I was wondering if anyone knows what I can do to just save the picture files. Thank you very much.

    Ron

    Hi Ron,

These XMP and XML files are files that contains information of face recognition and details of smart tags.  These are saved to make sure that you don't loose this information in the restored catalog.

    Thank you

  • I deleted my phone after the backup of photos were also deleted from the computer and iCloud

I have an iPhone 5 and after upgrading my phone and transfer pictures, my computer screen went to sleep while he was removing all transferred photos off my phone as I walked away. When I went back and opens the screen, deleting was stopped, and even if I tried to have the iPhoto to delete 517 photos that were transferred, it would not be. So, while my phone was still connected to the computer, I scored manually 88 photos on my phone, following on the computer, ensuring that each photo that I retreat the phone had been transferred to iPhoto. Then, I went in the "recently deleted" on my phone and deleted those as well, so they do not take place. When I got back to the computer for the next round, I realized every photo that I had just deleted my phone also disappeared from iPhoto! I even checked iCloud and they weren't there. How can I recover these 88 pictures I deleted from my phone and why the hell did remove it from the computer?

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

Mac Book Pro version: 10.11.3.  Memory: 8 GB 1867 MHz DDR3 processor: 2.7 GHz Intel Core i5

I record copies "full" of my photos in iCloud.  I am now saved my computer with Time Machine, I wanted to know that it would also make a back up of files that I have on iCloud.  and if not then how can I do to save my iCloud on an external hard Bank without first download the files on the laptop...?

    Thank you!

Time Machine backs up everything on your Mac, including photos by iCloud if you only send copies reduced to your Mac (storage management) it's what will be saved.

  • Is it possible to backup/import photos on a phone without trust it?

    Hello

I'm currently an iPhone broken 5 with thousands of pictures that are really important to me. I need to get out, but there is a problem.

The phone was bent, who had an opening towards the inside of the screen & it kept collecting dust. I did not notice this until the screen is screwed up. It is red, black, green, sometimes for most of the screen and a small space where I can see the actual phone working at the top. It's useless because the phone does not respond and I can't do anything else that put in recovery mode.

Is it possible to back up the phone without pressing 'Trust' or at least import the photos?

I have a windows laptop with the latest version of iTunes.

Any help is greatly appreciated, thank you.

N ° it's too late to back up now. You must do this before break you.

  • Includes photos an iTunes backup?

    Hello!

I've recently updated my iPhone to iOS 9.3 and it entered into recovery mode. Now, I have to restore my iPhone. But I don't want to lose my pictures. I made a backup via iTunes a few months ago.

I want to know if the iTunes backup includes a backup of Photos.

If I restore and install the backup from iTunes, I will answer my photos?

If they film photos that should be included and be restored back (assuming that they were on the phone during the last backup), pictures synced to the phone via iTunes on the computer will not be included.
