  • Need help to recover a bad BIOS flash on Satellite L300D-01

I need your help to fix my laptop because the BIOS is not included in the guarantee.

    What happened:

I was downloading all the drivers from the site Web of Toshiba to make a CD-ROM of drivers, in case I need it.
I clicked the update of the BIOS when I drag and drop into a new folder and the BIOS start without asking and freezz about 50% I wait 30 min because I know THAT BIOS is critical, but after all this time I have no choice then to power off the computer.

Now when I turn on the computer, I have no disk image trying to read and she.

Now what I want to do is a CRISIS of recovery since this is the only option I have for now.

What I need, is that the BIOS file not the stupid .exe, but a ROM or .bin I think and instruction to do on this particular model.

Thanks for looking for my post and I hope that someone can help me here because repair $80 for a budget laptop is great.

I doubt that you might be able to repair this laptop for yourself.
The fact is that the ROM module has been flashed properly and I guess it must be flashed again using a traditional BIOS version.
This version of BIOS is NOT available on the Toshiba page. Only a victory according to BIOS version.

Therefore, you will need to contact the ASP in your country for a BIOS flashing module.

Mate sorry but I don't see another solution to the problem you.

  • Re: Satellite P200D - 11L: how to install Windows XP

I have a laptop Satellite P200D - 11L for about 5 months and it has preinstalled windows Vista.
    I can't stand them.
They crash every 5 minutes and they consume all my resources for no reason!
I can't run any program for my work that I used to run under XP without problem because of the incompatibility.

I just discovered that I can not play games for reasons of incompatibility.
I can play games that are very new, and of course these games play well due to lack of resources.
I'm desperate. I tried loading XP on it, but it just stops when I boot from the XP one cd will not open again.

I need to install urgent XP but I don't know how.
Please give me a few steps or a few links so I can get rid of this bad software called vista.

    Help!

    Hello

I think I know what you the problem might be.
First you must make sure that you Win XP CD contain the SP2.
I know the different problems that might appear during the installation of XP if a SP2 was not included. If you XP CD doesn't have a SP2 then use the program nLite to built your own XP CD with SP2.

In addition your P200 supports the SATA controller and you will need to install the first SATA driver (among others).
It is not very difficult. You need the Intel Matrix Storage Manger.
During XP Setup, press F6, and then you could include the the USB FDD drive SATA driver. Search this forum for more details. There are many useful discussions.

This crib of storage can be downloaded from the Intel Web site or on the European driver from Toshiba website.
Unfortunately, for Satellite P200D XP drivers are not available on the Toshiba page at the moment and I think you should try some different P200 series drivers.

    Good bye

  • Need help to update BIOS on Satellite P200D - 11L

I have a portable satellite P200D - 11L. I have a problem recently with my FN key is not working and a few problems with my camera. My BIOS version is 1.00, and I saw that there is a version 1.2. Although I downloaded the update when I went to unpack, I have seen that there are 2 versions of it. We called Setup and another called Setup64.which one should I launch?

Any help would be extremely useful.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

I guess you have 32-bit of Windows Vista or Windows XP 32-bit installed and not a 64-bit operating system.
Thus, it would be optimal to install program installation and not Setup64. If you install the Setup64 your won´t OS works as it should.

  • Satellite P200D-137 - suspected of BIOS update failure

    Hello

My friend asked me to watch his old Satellite P200D of 2 days. He decides to perform the recommended Toshiba updates, after leaving the machine (plugged) and return after about an hour, he was off.

Now switch on the machine causes a black screen with just the hard drive, fans and dvd burner, turning the power on. This being the case, I feel, it was a BIOS update he did this failed. Is it possible to recover from this at all?

    Thank you

You know with certainty that it was done. If the BIOS update is screwed up, it can be problematic, and I'm afraid there is nothing you can do alone and without service.

  • Satellite P200D-128 - Question about installed Norton anti-virus

Hi, I bought a Toshiba Satellite P200D-128 last week and to say I'm majorly annoyed with Toshiba would be an understatement, and that understatement. Fine machine autoinstalled as its operating system, and I found I had Norton anti-virus installed, or at least I thought I had because a beautiful Norton logo quicklink arrived on my desk.

In fact, only a partial shell of Norton installed and actually have an anti-virus properly functioning to connect on the site of Norton. This arrangement is just stupid, because I am well aware, surf the Internet without effective antivirus / anti-malware is not a question of if the computer will get infected, but when the computer will be infected.
I have the experience to build my own desktop PC, and basically what I do is install an anti-virus package from the DVD drive with a front disc even connect the machine to the internet and then update the anti-virus software anti-virus Internet home before that I would all navigation on the web.

Not only have a Norton Quicklink on the center of office crazy to think one has a functioning entirely anti-virus / anti-malware installed, but the partial shell of fools Norton also Windows Vista security in thinking there are a lot of anti-virus installed and it also disables the alert windows system that will remind the user of the computer if there is no antivirus installed package.

This situation should never have been raised and I think it's a shame. Also criminal elements no doubt major behind the likes of malware, which struck upward on the ploy clever to have infected unsuspecting computer user with malicious software, which uses then the malware to put up a false messages of Windows operating system, which informs the user of the computer has been infected and asking them to download a fake anti-virus packages , must be particularly delighted with this situation, in that a user will be once they see such a message may well click the link of Norton and probably find their Norton is only a partial shell and then install one of the packages most likely fake anti-virus.

If Toshiba and Norton had deliberately set to infect the computers of users with viruses and other malware, it is difficult to see how they could have done a better job of it, unless they had pre-installed viruses and malware themselves on the computer.
I wonder, this case went to Toshiba and/or / attention of Norton and if so, what they had to say for themselves?

    Concerning the best and warm
    Adrian Wainer

PS I forgot to mention that the partial shell package Norton also implements a toolbar in their browser, which reinforces even more the (false) impression that we have a fully functional package of the antivirus installed

    Hey Buddy

I m bit confused about your ad and how you wrote this.

I would like to mention a few facts:
I m a Satellite P200 owner (it s even as P200, but with Intel the piece) and my laptop is equipped with the Norton Internet Security program.
Of course, it s a subscription for 90 days, but it s a functional full version.

Everything is pre-installed, but you need to configure and create a Norton account.
I know because I read the instructions and information that are stored on my laptop.

If you would in a full version of Norton Internet Security, you must create this account also.
So you must connect to the internet also if you n t have an Antivirus Program preinstalled to set this up.

Of course it must be updated also with the Internet because the antivirus definition file changes almost every time and the internet connection is required for this update.
Why is it necessary? Because the image of Toshiba has designed several weeks ago and, therefore, the antivirus definition files is not updated.

The same thing happens if you don t use the laptop for several weeks and don t perform the update of the operating system or antivirus.
Don t wonder, therefore, you must connect to the internet to get everything updated.

Please don t be angry with me, but I have my own opinion, you are one of the users who don t read the manual of the user or any other information that are equipped with Notepad and could be interesting for the use of the computer laptop but only start Notepad, install a few 3rd party apps and don t configure the operating system that is stored on the laptop.

So I think that we could avoid this discussion if you read and check all detailed ;)

  • How to reset the BIOS on Satellite P200D password?

    + Satellite P200D-12Z +.
I forgot my BIOS password. Now I cannt use Toshiba HWsetup, certain characteristics using Toshiba and I cannt change boot priority because it is password protected.
What should I do? Is there a software that can reset the password?

    Hello!

    I agree with Akuma.
The best way is you go to the nearest ASP because they can remove a BIOS password.

On the Toshiba site, you can search the nearest ASP:

  • Can I install XP on Satellite P200D-139?

I currently installed on my Vista laptop.
However, I have some equipment that is not compatible with Vista.
I wonder if my laptop (Toshiba Satellite P200D-139) is compatible with XP?

If this is how I get rid of Vista and install XP?

Any information on this would be a great help.

    Thank you very much.

    > I wonder if my laptop (Toshiba Satellite P200D-139) is compatible with XP?
Why don't all computers not phones or computers that couldn't stand the XP did you see? I want to tell the next generation of PC/computer laptop and not a 486 oldies ;)

In any case the Toshiba XP drivers are published on the European driver Toshiba page.
So all the XP drivers are here and he should t be a problem to get the XP working on the Toshiba Satellite P200D-139

But please not that you need to install the SATA driver first! The driver can be found in the Storage Manager package!

If you need more information how to install the SATA drivers, please search here in the other forum posted.

  • Satellite P200D Factory defaults recovery

    Hello

I post here in the name of an old man who bought a Satellite P200D-PSPBQE, S/N 28160997 K (Vista Home Premium French) who has gone through a series of problems. He cannot attend his book himself and so asked me to fix it.

The laptop has especially worked for two or three years until this summer when it has overheated (as I can judge by touching the case) and switched automatically a few times off the coast. At one point the laptop wouldn't even step to the BIOS.

Here is a rough summary of what I did then:

I began to open the case, but it seems too difficult, so I closed it back and use a vacuum cleaner to clean the dust in the vents, restarted the laptop and it are returned and very well for a while. At one point, the owner of the laptop mentioned a small bug crept once out of the laptop but I don't mind at this moment.

After some time, Vista has experienced various gels (maybe explore buggy but I couldn't judge I never looked in the event viewer that I had no idea what kind of help the EV could bring until very recently). I thought that this could be due to the many automatic switchoffs who listens to the Vista system files. I ran sfc/scannow, who pointed out a few errors, but cannot fix them. Yet it is not attached to the gel. I stuff ready for the usual save the data/reinstall vista and drivers/restore cycle data.

On the recovery discs: I asked the owner for all Toshiba drives, but it didn't, not even the recovery disk based 100MB.

I thought that automatic recovery of factory default partition existed but that he could not find its start-up in the manuals coming with the laptop. I was curious and thought, Hey, I'll start the recovery partition myself with a boot partition tool. I ran the Partition Magic CD reported contradictory of the partitions on the first drive, which prompted me to repair it with suggested partition table values: I stupidly pressed Yes and then not really started (or so I think). I couldn't see any recovery partition only two 80 GB system partitions, and data were present. A race of Ranish Partition confirmed it.

Yet, I tried to turn on the laptop while pressing '0' at the same time, as stated in some tech forums but it didn't not start any recovery procedure at all.

I could not find the recovery disk creator in the menu program so I downloaded and it started and it reported, no partition recovery not found.

As I found myself helpless without any recovery solution (I had not heard backupmedia.toshiba.eu) I downloaded a copy of Vista of P2P (Yes, it's bad, but I was impotent). This laptop has two hard drives of 160 GB, of which the second was not used. I exchanged the places of two readers, installed Vista using the product key from COA to empty disk. I installed the display driver and the retrospective data is restored and the laptop is back on the spot two, running OK, but still from time to time of freezing.

Finally, I decided to call the assistance of Toshiba in France who reported to me on the backupmedia.toshiba.eu site where I can order recovery disks.

_Before I order backup disks I have a few questions: _

Can I open the case and do a thorough cleaning of any dust remaining/bugs/etc? (I guess that the answer is Yes) Are there instructions for that?

Maybe hit the cpu overheating. Should I run a test of cpu and which?

Overheating may have affected the memory modules. Running Windows Memory Test enough or do I run Memtest 3.x or later version to check the memory sticks?

Is there really a recovery partition on the hard drive of this series (P200D-PSPBQE) system? If Yes and given the Partition Magic probably changed only the partition table, is there a way to restore the original partition table values and thus to restore access to the recovery partition? That would save me the trouble to order backup discs.

backupmedia. Toshiba.EU offers you to order a backup for 35 euros drive about it's a drive to restore default factory containing Vista, drivers and tools, or just the basic restore disk that starts (currently absent) recovery partition? In the second case, how to restore the laptop to original factory settings?

Thank you for reading this far, sorry for any English mistakes and thanks in advance for any input,
    Eric Ivanov,
    Grenoble, France

    > Should I open the suitcase and do a thorough cleaning of any dust remaining/bugs/etc? (I guess that the answer is Yes) Are there instructions for that?

I wouldn't recommend disassemble the laptop. This should be done by a mobile technician who knows what to do if you want to remove dust or debris from cooling vents, I would recommend using a jet of compressed air and you may suck dust.

    > Overheating may have touched the cpu. Should I run a test of cpu and which?
Perhaps this is possible, given that the laptop is two years (or more) and during this time, a lot of dust might collect inside the cooling modules.

    > Overheating may have affected the memory modules. Running Windows Memory Test enough or do I run Memtest 3.x or later version to check the memory sticks?
A higher temperature can affect all parts of the laptop also memory, it was the case in my old notebook. BSOD was always because the memory could not be cooled. But I doubt that memtest would help you if the higher temperature would affect modules

You cannot restore the HARD drive recovery partition. If you are not able to start the HARD drive recovery (pressing F8-> fix my computer-> HD recovery), you must order the disk from Toshiba Web page.

    > backupmedia.toshiba.eu offers you to order a backup for 35 euros drive about it's a drive to restore default factory containing Vista, drivers and tools, or just the basic restore disk that starts (currently absent) recovery partition? In the second case, how to restore the laptop to original factory settings?
This s recovery disc that contains the image of Toshiba. Toshiba is a package that contains the Windows operating system (Vista), drivers, tools and additional software. Simply said; This disc would fix the laptop back to factory settings.

Hope this might help a little.

  • Cannot access Windows on my Satellite P200D-139

    Evening,

I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite P200D-139. I am trying to format the hard drive and whenever I turn it on, it just goes right to a box of password directly after showing the Toshiba logo. The box says press F2 or F12 as normal, as I do, the password box comes in next. This isn't a password of windows, as windows does not load.

I think it's a set up / BIOS password. Any help around this would be appreciated. I have a thought of the Mike pattern to remove battery CMOS, ideas, please keep in mind that I can't enter the BIOS / or implement the page thanks a lot YES - YES.

    Please respond to my email

    [email protected]

    Hello

Yes it must be the BIOS password. In this story, it's a bit strange to me that you have on this subject.
Is your laptop or you got someone?

Is that you will not be able to have access to pre-installed Windows or option to install new windows if you don't have good BIOS password. Removal of password is not information on a public forum, so if you need assistance, you should contact Toshiba service in your country. They can remove for you.

I know removing the CMOS battery won't help you to remove the BIOS password.

  • Satellite P200D and Vista x 64 drivers

    Hello

I recently added to my satellite P200D - 11L 4 GB of ram.
Because the 32 bit OS does not recognize 4 GB of ram, I decided to move to 64-bit hoping that Toshiba is promoting Vista and, of course, the spread of 64-bit systems.

I am very disappointed that I can't install toshiba value added package and for this reason many of my laptops features are not available. In addition to that my laptop goes down so I put it to sleep.

I searched the forum and I found on this Bios is responsible for value package and that the Bios is the reason for the error message I get every time.

I tried to update my Bios only to find out that it is not yet being updated by Toshiba to support 64-bit VAP.
My point is: will they make it work finally? They promise things just before buy you but the support of the software stops after a few months of the release of the laptop. Especially for the P220D series.

    Anyone know anything?
    help please.

    Hello

Bit Vista x 64 for the Satellite P200D - 11 L drivers are available on the European driver Toshiba page.
Also the logical device of value added 64-bit was released.

But the 64-bit VAP contains only the DLL file.
It is a dll which is needed to get all the features of the Toshiba tools works. You must replace the old file of the 32-bit dll with this new 64-bit dll file.

I put t know why the BIOS is not available for 64-bit Vista maybe he will be released in the near future.

    Good bye
