Bad Bios on the N100 update

Hello

I have an old laptop lenovo n100, 1.66 dual core, 2 GB of ram. The problems started when I tried to install win 8 dev preview on this, because I'm pretty interested in coding, so the idea was to do it on that and use it as a test computer. When I went into the bios, the model number and uuid of the system were corrupted, and is showing some corrupt characters or simply f and e

I googled the problem and suggested he try to Flash the bios, now lenovo messages only a windows flashing the BIOS utility, so in my haste to solve the problem, I applied it, made sure it was running and left the House for a couple of hours. When I came back, the laptop had been frozen completely, I could not move the mouse, send any encoding or the command to the laptop, the screen froze at 18:07 - about five minutes after I left it - typical!

Since it froze, the 13/19, I thought that if she didn't drive reacts after 4 hours or more, there was no hope for her. Then I went to turn off the machine, he would not be turned off via the power button. Then I took the battery out of the machine, left outside for half a minute, then plugged back in and started the machine, that the portable computer tries to read the dvd that is in it for the moment, because it makes a noise and activity led lights up, but the screen does not display anything.

These laptops have a module fail safe in it, or any other means of attachment, or is it for scrap?

Thanks in advance

If I understand your question now the display does not come.

It seems that the BIOS is not fully updated and it has been corrupted the BIOS program.

You can take the laptop to the service center for service.

Best regards

Tanuj

    HI Yves,

Unfortunately, if the BIOS update procedure does not work (or fill), then it is likely that the BIOS in the CMOS chip had been corrupt and without it, you will not be able to boot your laptop to fix the problem.

It will be necessary to bring (or send) your laptop to a repairer authorized to have reflashed BIOS.

    Kind regards

  • Equium L40: After bad Bios update cannot use the WLan

Hi there hope someone can help.

I've updated the Bios as tempo toshiba said, but I have not read the last piece. Who was that it is not for mine which is the model L40.

I have now tried to put the right pair, but he says he can't. As I'm putting that has an earlier date.

My main problem now is that my wireless stopped working, it says its there and so to work, I put the switch on, but he can't find any networks he used to find approximately 4 in my area

Do I have to restore my entire system :(?

I'm really confused about your message because the European Toshiba page provides drivers and BIOS for one Equium L40 series m.
I found 2 different versions of the BIOS for Equium L40; a BIOS for XP and a BIOS for Vista.

In my opinion it of almost not possible to update the BIOS with the wrong version

However, it you have updated and used the wrong BIOS, then you must contact the ASP to help

But first, I recommend a check of the WLan configuration

  • Update of HP Z620 BIOS causing the disc start plu

    Dear Sir

I updated the system of workstations HP Z420/Z620 (International) BIOS to 03.69 Rev.
18 June 2014 to my windows 7 Professional. After the reboot, it could not find my boot drive. In the Bios, the order of boot to SATA drive name list is totally a mess, named as "SS", instead of SATA0, etc..

I boot from my CD of windows 7 Professional and try to fix the system, but he said something like a different type of system.

What a bad upgrade experience and please help me to recover!

P.S. This thread has been moved from workstations - Itanium-Based, hp9000, Visualize for workstations - w series, series z, legacy x and xw series. Forum Moderator - HP

Not sure what would happen when your update of the system BIOS, but the BIOS flashing can be risky, especially if you get a power disruption or during the writing of the BIOS itself, there are a few other firmware issue. For this reason I almost always perform updated the BIOS when the system is connected to the inverter to limit the outages momentary causing failures flash.

HP also have even known to release a BIOS and then remove it on their download page for undocumented reasons. These reasons may or may not be related to flash failures or other problems, we do not know, only HP really knows, but they don't say.

For your Z620, you can see the gaps in the list of the BIOS version specified in the last note of release of the BIOS itself. In fact the release notes state that you require 1.07 update to 3.52 or later and says that he must first update to 1.23 (which curiously is not included in the version below the list!).

So you SHOULD ALWAYS read the BIOS release notes. In fact, you should read all release notes of all BIOS versions available in order to make sure that you know what has changed and what prerequisites indicators exist. It's tedious but better than a flash failure.

Anyway, from the issue date BIOS, you will notice that your BIOS must be at 1.07 or later to be able to upgrade successfully to a BOS 3.05 or later version. Therefore, you should check to see what BIOS you have done and if you have < 1.07 you MUST update to the latest version of the BIOS BIOS 1.x (to 1.14 BIOS of my reasoning, because it is the most recent in the history of the versions) as it is a sine qua non.

In fact, I would update BIOS 1.14, then update a BIOS 2.08, then BIOS 2.55 before if we consider a 3.05 BIOS and more late a 3.69 BIOS updated. It is pedantic, Yes, but perhaps a bit more secure (especially if you use an inverter). I always check the version of the BIOS and BIOS (and so the BIOS settings) after each flash before jumping into the OS...

But even if you cannot start the operating system, you should be able to Flash the BIOS as follows:

    • install 7-zip on a work computer
    • Download the bios appropriate 1.14 or 3.69 for your system and save it
    • Right click the bios file saved, spxxxxx.exe, and then select < 7 - zip > < archive open >
    • Double-click the folder (not name) stated in 7 - zip file manager
    • Double-click on "bios falsh.htm" and read the "flash back" and or sections of "failsafe bootblock recovery."
    • Follow the appropriatesection of those that you just read...

Therefore, if your system messages, and you can actually get into the BIOS, use the flash BACK method. And depending on what version of BIOS your system indicates boot buring, flashing the BIOS is appropriate (if the system shows BIOS 1.14 1.x then flash, if the system indicates BIOS 3.x then flash 3.69). I hope that this will ensure that your BIOS has been flashed properly.

Once you are sure that the BIOS is the correct version and date, then look at all the parameters and, hopefully, HARD drive names are listed correctly and your boot disks/raid volume can be found.

It's also a good idea to go into the BIOS and hit < LTRC > < A >, then go in "system ID and check the entries against the labels on your machine." Pay special notice that the BuildID, SKUNumber & ProductName in BIOS match labels (because they must be correct for the HP system to work recovery discs)...

The only other thing I can think is that you had two or more HARD drive in a RAID configuration and RAID configuration somehow I messed up. If you use RAID, maybe watch the configuration by pressing CTRL + R or CTRL-C while booting. Do not change anything, because you might lose your data, just look.

If these things do not help, you will need to be very precise about what you did, what configuration you have, state that the system is and what error messages you receive. You can use a camera and post here as appropriate as someone may be able to help and take some snaps different pages problem BIOS configuration screens, configurations, error messages or other...

It is also unknown if you use an image from HP and referring to HP system recovery disks or you did (re) installed a vanila MS Win7Pro OS using a disc to install MS Win7. And write "something like a different type of system" is not as useful as the actual error message you get.

Usually, the update of the BIOS shouldn't have a bad influence on the drivers of Toshiba and the performance of the operating system.
There must be another reason the FN key down.

Initially, I would say to reinstall the common modules. Please check if this will help.

  • Is it possible to update the BIOS for the Satellite A110 (PSAB0) and Windows7?

    Hi all

I recently installed Windows 7 on Toshiba Satellite A110 (PSAB0).
The version of the system BIOS is v1.30
I want to Flash the BIOS for you last version v2.0.
This version is released in January 2009, before the introduction of Windows 7.

There are two versions of the BIOS download, one "for Vista only' and one 'OS independent.
I think I have to go to the operating system independent.
    Link: [update BIOS | http://www.toshiba.nl/innovation/download_driver_details.jsp?service=EN&selCategory = 8 & selFamily = 192 & selSeries = 236 & selProduct = 661 & STAS hortMod = 478 & language = 1 = 12 & selOS & selType = 4 & yearupload = & monthupload = & dayupload = & we eDate = null & mode = allMachines & search = & action = search & macId = & country = 24 & selectedLanguage = 12 & type = 4 & page = 1 & ID = 66230 & DISO =-1 & driverLanguage = 42]

Independent of the OS has warning: + "this Bios is NOT compatible for notebook computers equipped with Windows Vista!" + "

So here's my question: this BIOS version is compatible with Windows 7?

    Thank you very much!!

    AJ.

    Hello

I think that this BIOS (v2.0) is not released for Windows 7 and that it has also not been tested with Windows 7. This BIOS has published 21.01.2009 and Windows 7 was released on July 22, 2009. However, on the other hand it s not mentioned that this BIOS is not compatible with Win 7.

But the fact is that only Windows 7 doesn't is NOT supported on this laptop.

Windows 7 drivers are not out on Sat A110, but this does not mean that you couldn't install Win 7 on this device. Of course, you can install the Win 7 system, but Toshiba does not provide any Win 7 software for this series.

    Back to BIOS update:
In your case I would try not to update the BIOS if the laptop works properly.
Why? Because the update of the BIOS is still a technique sensitive and you could damage it the motherboard if something goes wrong during the update of the BIOS.

    My lights not working.
    My remote is not working.

    So please help me guys

    Hello

    > How to remove a Bios Update?
I think you want to Flash the BIOS to the original version.

You can't do this because you n t have the first version of BIOS.
In addition, there is a version of the traditional BIOS update that is not available on the European driver Toshiba page.
So your last option would be the Toshiba ASP in your country!
You will need to contact the guys for the first version of BIOS.

Just a hint; never change a running system ;)

  • After the last update of BIOS that Satellite P100 locks with BSOD

    Hello

Due to several problems meeting with updated Toshiba Satellite P100-221 (PSPA6E) launch second online BIOS updated. I have download and I solve problems with my video card and the race of missing keyboard. After a short period, they put on the update of the BIOS rd page 3 drivers.

I'm trying to find what ever they change with this new update, but I na? t find anything. So I decided to update my BIOS again. Now as a result my system crash very often when I quit & restart my computer (blue screen).

Microsoft advised me to reduce the video acceleration for video adjustment.
Maybe can someone explain to me why I have this problem?
I use the same drivers and software same as in the second update
I can find BIOS previous to rewrite again, because this one works very well with my laptop?

    Thank you!

    Hi Sebasian

I use very long books and I've never updated the BIOS if not necessary. What laptop works well, OS stabile, why should I do it? I don t care if new BIOS update is available or not. I've always been skeptical about the updates to the BIOS. That's just my opinion.

As far as I know, it is not possible to downgrade the version of the BIOS without special tools and it can be done by service partners. It is not easy to tell if the BIOS is responsible for this, but if possible, try to send us illustrated if BSOD errors.

If I were you I backup all important data and reinstall the recovery image, configure OS for my needs, and make sure that everything is clean pre-installed. My experience with BSOD were always related software.

Should I install that is not the same model as my laptop
If this is not the case, why gas station recommend that I install it?

I guess it's your laptop and all the drivers and BIOS available for this model of laptop:
    http://www.MyToshiba.com.au/support/computers/satellite/l850/pskdla-0c900r/download

The latest version of the BIOS is v6.50 and it seems to be the right one.
C850 Pro seems belongs to the series even though maybe the BIOS is the same.

However, the update of the BIOS is still a technique sensitive and from my point of view it is not really necessary if you n t s were a serious problems.
