Update of HP Z620 BIOS causing the disc start plu

Dear Sir

I updated the system of workstations HP Z420/Z620 (International) BIOS to 03.69 Rev.
18 June 2014 to my windows 7 Professional. After the reboot, it could not find my boot drive. In the Bios, the order of boot to SATA drive name list is totally a mess, named as "SS", instead of SATA0, etc..

I boot from my CD of windows 7 Professional and try to fix the system, but he said something like a different type of system.

What a bad upgrade experience and please help me to recover!

P.S. This thread has been moved from workstations - Itanium-Based, hp9000, Visualize for workstations - w series, series z, legacy x and xw series. Forum Moderator - HP

Not sure what would happen when your update of the system BIOS, but the BIOS flashing can be risky, especially if you get a power disruption or during the writing of the BIOS itself, there are a few other firmware issue. For this reason I almost always perform updated the BIOS when the system is connected to the inverter to limit the outages momentary causing failures flash.

HP also have even known to release a BIOS and then remove it on their download page for undocumented reasons. These reasons may or may not be related to flash failures or other problems, we do not know, only HP really knows, but they don't say.

For your Z620, you can see the gaps in the list of the BIOS version specified in the last note of release of the BIOS itself. In fact the release notes state that you require 1.07 update to 3.52 or later and says that he must first update to 1.23 (which curiously is not included in the version below the list!).

So you SHOULD ALWAYS read the BIOS release notes. In fact, you should read all release notes of all BIOS versions available in order to make sure that you know what has changed and what prerequisites indicators exist. It's tedious but better than a flash failure.

Anyway, from the issue date BIOS, you will notice that your BIOS must be at 1.07 or later to be able to upgrade successfully to a BOS 3.05 or later version. Therefore, you should check to see what BIOS you have done and if you have < 1.07 you MUST update to the latest version of the BIOS BIOS 1.x (to 1.14 BIOS of my reasoning, because it is the most recent in the history of the versions) as it is a sine qua non.

In fact, I would update BIOS 1.14, then update a BIOS 2.08, then BIOS 2.55 before if we consider a 3.05 BIOS and more late a 3.69 BIOS updated. It is pedantic, Yes, but perhaps a bit more secure (especially if you use an inverter). I always check the version of the BIOS and BIOS (and so the BIOS settings) after each flash before jumping into the OS...

But even if you cannot start the operating system, you should be able to Flash the BIOS as follows:

  • install 7-zip on a work computer
  • Download the bios appropriate 1.14 or 3.69 for your system and save it
  • Right click the bios file saved, spxxxxx.exe, and then select < 7 - zip > < archive open >
  • Double-click the folder (not name) stated in 7 - zip file manager
  • Double-click on "bios falsh.htm" and read the "flash back" and or sections of "failsafe bootblock recovery."
  • Follow the appropriatesection of those that you just read...

Therefore, if your system messages, and you can actually get into the BIOS, use the flash BACK method. And depending on what version of BIOS your system indicates boot buring, flashing the BIOS is appropriate (if the system shows BIOS 1.14 1.x then flash, if the system indicates BIOS 3.x then flash 3.69). I hope that this will ensure that your BIOS has been flashed properly.

Once you are sure that the BIOS is the correct version and date, then look at all the parameters and, hopefully, HARD drive names are listed correctly and your boot disks/raid volume can be found.

It's also a good idea to go into the BIOS and hit < LTRC > < A >, then go in "system ID and check the entries against the labels on your machine." Pay special notice that the BuildID, SKUNumber & ProductName in BIOS match labels (because they must be correct for the HP system to work recovery discs)...

The only other thing I can think is that you had two or more HARD drive in a RAID configuration and RAID configuration somehow I messed up. If you use RAID, maybe watch the configuration by pressing CTRL + R or CTRL-C while booting. Do not change anything, because you might lose your data, just look.

If these things do not help, you will need to be very precise about what you did, what configuration you have, state that the system is and what error messages you receive. You can use a camera and post here as appropriate as someone may be able to help and take some snaps different pages problem BIOS configuration screens, configurations, error messages or other...

It is also unknown if you use an image from HP and referring to HP system recovery disks or you did (re) installed a vanila MS Win7Pro OS using a disc to install MS Win7. And write "something like a different type of system" is not as useful as the actual error message you get.

  • How it happened and how to prevent it: type def cluster change causes the element starts up again

    Hi all

I have a big nested type nested def cluster, several layers.  I have remove the clusters to use the feature "name" to use it.

Somehow changing the def of big type causes unlustered elements starts up again.

For example, the element is the element clustered and used, then after I modified the def type, I don't remember how, maybe remove some items, perhaps rename elements, then the element where B is the unlustered element and used.

It is very scary because it just happened automatically and no broken error reported and this can spoil the entire application.

It happen to someone else? How to prevent it?

    Many thanks for any help.

    Anne

A search on 'Ben', 'cluster' 'type def' to see that I've been bitten in the same way.

The earch will reveal the various things that have been suggested according to the version of LV

First rule of ben from cluster

Avoid like the plague by deleting or renaming items.

    Other stuff:

If you need to remove an item, change its representation to something that will break all instances for example change digital chain. Then go all the broken VI difficulty by throwing all the refs for the field you want to delte. And then delete.

in the LV ealier version, better all the screws that use clusters that open when the change is made.

In the recent version that neither recommended edititng cluster with all the appellants closed with the theory being that LV handles better the opening of VI.

Given that I am "Of Ben first rule of the cluster" I don't run in the bug often with LV 2009.

  • Satellite L750D - update BIOS causing the CD Player problems

    I have a L750D-1GC Satellite running Windows 7. Recently I updated the BIOS to 1.60 04/05/12 THIS worm 1.40

I noticed that since that more that I have problems my CD player in what I can read CD/DVD but does not burn. Using burning software, it appears the combustion happens (rotation of the disk and green light), but at the end it breaks down. I have tried several Microsoft Fixit program but the problem persists, help?

I put t think that the BIOS update would impact on the functionality of CD/DVD drive.
Usually, the firmware of the CD/DVD drive contains information about the compatible media and I put t that any link between this question and the previous update of the BIOS.

For me is looks like the laser lens is dirty or the lens may not be properly calibrated to read/write from the disk
Try to clean the laser lens with cotton wool trick and liquid alcohol in many cases this would set similar question and the player couldn't handle the media properly.

  • Causing the discs to launch constantly MySQL

    Hi all

I use MySQLOn to allow the use of the construction in MySQL on my ReadyNAS 2100 with 4.2.17 (instead of 4.2.18T6), and after turning off pretty much everything (except for SMEs/SMIs), came to the conclusion that MySQL is the cause of my drives constantly turning up. The database on the box is not huge, it's 20 MB - a database that is shared between two boxes of Kodi as the Raspberry Pi. Is it possible to making it serve the database memory cache rather than turn drives upward? It is never authorized discs stay turned down more than 10 minutes!

    Best,

    Colin

No worries, I moved the database to one of my other servers and MySQLon removed from the ReadyNAS - he was happily sleep for an hour now.

Sad that the only altered thing me a problem has been the huge spike in my electricity bill - he used to sleep under the 4.2.27 until I upgraded to 4.2.28T6, decommissioning had no effect. Yet, the question is sorted into force now

    Thank you!

  • The update to IE 8 last night caused the menu and other bars to turn black in the browser.

the update of IE 8 last night caused the menu, Favorites bar and the other bars on the top for black.  I uninstalled the update and the bars were all normal.  I went to Winhdows updated and reinstalled IE8 update and the bars are again showing only a small icon where each item is black. I am running XP.  What can be done to fix this?

    Hello

    1. What is the number of KB updates that are at the origin of the problem?

I suggest that you check the number of KB updates that have been installed recently.

There is no history of update for Windows XP; but you can see what updates you have installed on your computer by clicking on add or remove programs in Control Panel.

To see what updates you have installed on a Windows XP-based computer, you must go through a different process.

    (a) go to the start menu in the lower left corner.

    (b) choose Control Panel from the menu.

    (c) find the icon Add / Remove programs and double click it to open it.

    (d) a list of the installed programs. To see Windows updates put a check mark in the Show updatescheck box.

    (e) now, you will see also all the updates that are on your computer.

Please provide information on the update installed that could be causing the problem so that we can better help you.

  • Try to install Windows Vista. When the system starts, I get a black screen with no message and no prompt.

before starting up the plant, black screen

A friend gave me the laptop since they bought a new.  I tried to do a clean install of Windows Vista on a laptop Gateway P6831 FX.  After changing the boot order in the bios settings, the dvd starts to spin.  The only thing that appears on the screen is a screen black/Bank.  I'm never invited with the message 'Press any key to start the installation' to start copying the files for vista.

The Bios recognizes the hard drive (Sata).  I don't know what to do at this point.  Help, please.

I fixed it.  I looked at a few other responses in this forum and used the SATA drivers during the installation of Windows XP.  After that, I've upgraded to Vista.

  • Pavilion G6 - 1061ee BIOS update error causing the extreme fan noise

    Hello

It been a while since that HP has completed a new update of the BIOS for my Pavilion G6-1061ee, I got v f.63.

But now, they have made a new update of BIOS that is v f.65 I downloaded the file (the insydeFlash BIOS update) and when I run it and press START, my system freeze suddenly and EXTREMELY increase fan noise, it's like my CPU usage is 300% then in a few moments, the system shuts down and I could not be able to turn on the computer again , So I had to unplug the AC adapter and remove the battery then return everything back to be able to turn it on.

So can anyone help me with this problem.

    OS: 8 64-bit Windows

RAM: 8 GB (Original was 4 GB... And added another 4 GB)

    CPU: Intel (r) Core i5 CPU M480

GPU: Radeon HD 6470 M with Intel HD 3400 grapchics

    - And thank you

    Kind regards
    Pedro Marthon

    Hello PedroMarthon.

Are you currently overclocking the graphics card?

In order to solve this problem, I think you should uninstall third-party drivers and use the official drivers for Windows 7 and the workaround posted by my peers.  The reason I suggest, is that the use of third-party drivers could cause strange problems and it will be easier to solve the problem.

What I would say is remove the third-party drivers and then using the method posted in my response above.  Once the process is complete, I would try and then update the BIOS again.  If successful, you can remove Windows 7 drivers and again use your third-party drivers.  However, I'm not against the use of third-party drivers.

I appreciated the way in which you have been given to work with me, so I went to come your messages of congratulations.  If you think that I was helpful please click the White Star under my name to give my messages of congratulations.  I would really appreciate it!

I will keep an eye out for your next answer.  I wish you a nice day!

  • Updating the BIOS causing system problem...

    Hello

I recently had a very bad experience with my hp pavilion g 1201 tx. I though that I should share it with everyone.

The problem started with an update of the Bios that was available with the help of HP support. He showed me there is an update available for my laptop BIOS (I was happy ) on this subject and has allowed the update run. After the update, that my heart stopped beating (even if it wasn't a heart attack) my laptop stopped functioning, it crashes after 3-4 minutes.

After 5 days of research and hundreds of tips, I came to the conclusion that the update of the BIOS could go wrong. The update of the BIOS version was F.52 (-supports the nVidia GeForce GT 520 M graphics controller card). But my laptop has a Radeon graphics card.

I downloaded the version of BIOS F.41 (supports 7450 AMD Radeon graphics M controller) of the previous version on the software's Web site and download drivers. It took about 30 minutes to install (the screen freezes) I gave up and hand over power.

Put my fingers crossed I switched it on and Hooray! his work, my laptop does not freeze now...

A suggestion to the team of hp. Please check the software before making it available to the public (updates should be available for the right products).

I can see the version of BIOS F.52 software on my laptop still available for Pavilion g 1201 tx on your Internet site and through hp support assistance.

If my interpretation is wrong on both versions, please correct me.

    Thank you

When they say "adds" support for... It simply means that it is added to this graphics card, but they don't remove it to earlier maps. Don't know what went wrong with F52 install.

Never update a bios unless it's to solve a problem that cannot be resolved otherwise. F52 update was not necessary for your model. It's the only thing I don't like about HP Support Assistant.

The reason why they add support for things is HP hardware changes on new laptops from the same series model and have to add support for it in the bios, they do not want to break support for older hardware, but sometimes they do.
