Do not forget to check with support of system manufacturer (manufacturer of motherboard for custom

    Hello

I'm trying to install a new copy of Windows XP Edition family on PC to a family member and I get a BSoD "bad_system_config_Info" error message and STOP code 0x00000074.after Setup support files.

    Background:
-New SATA HD (tested on my PC after a few BSoD of internal CONNECTIONS and with a box external w/USB connection. - it works fine).

-RAM is good. I tried 3 branches far and I get the same error (another suggested thread it was a problem of RAM)

-The BIOS is being updated and functional, I went through the settings offered on another thread.

-There are no files on the hard drive. I tried to format, create partitions, deleting partitions. Nothing has worked.

-The CD is fine. I ran a set up on top of another system and installed fine. (Yes, I spent a few hours ensuring that my installation disc was good = P)

I am at a loss to know what to do now. I have not run across a solution to solve this with a fresh install, right on systems 'installed' (i.e. the last config known, Point of system restore, etc...)

    Any ideas?

Looks like the problem is indeed RAM.

You have more than one stick of RAM? If RAM use as well as a stick and install XP.

  • BSOD bad_system_config_info

During the process of overclocking my CPU, I downloaded CPU - Z. Oddly enough, CPU - Z says that my processor (i7 - 2600 k Sandy Bridge) uses only 2 cores and 4 sons. A quick search on google suggested that I go to msconfig-boot-> advanced >-> uncheck the processor. Initially, the box has been ticked, and the number of processors the value 4. When trying to restart, the screen is stuck on the screen logo windows for a few minutes, then gives me a BSOD bad_system_config_info. The same phenomenon occurs when you try to start in SafeMode as well.

Some additional research tell me what I need to manually change the registry by starting windows or another HARD drive or windows installation disc, that aren't available to me. What should I do?

EDIT: I tried also to start with the last known good configuration and after doing a system restore. Neither have worked, and both give me the same problem.

  • NetBook will not start

Hi, so I got a virus on my netbook a few days ago. I was going to get rid of it, but I'm lazy and waited and tried to start it until today. I got a blue screen, and I think that the error was bad_system_config_info. It is difficult to say because it disappears so quickly and restarts. I guess that the virus has damaged an important file, but I don't have an external DVD drive, or a Windows xp disc.

I tried for hours to fix my flash player. None of the guides I did worked. I don't know what to do. Can anyone help?

    Also, I have windows xp.

  • Misconfiguration of the info system

Have currently Windows 7, I came to work this morning and my computer showed that he had downloaded Windows 10 and asked to accept or refuse. I DECLINED, then said he would restore my previous version. Now it shows BAD_SYSTEM_CONFIG_INFO. I tried to choose a system restore but it says that there is not one. UGGGGGG I'm not computer savy. Is it possible to fix this...

No, unless you have a system image to restore before the upgrade I know :(

  • My OS is available from downloads?

I don't remember if the disks came with my two Inspiron N5010s when I bought them or not. If they did, I can't find them anywhere. Does anyone know if I can download the OS from Dell and, if so, how I would go all this?

I'm getting a BSOD - BAD_SYSTEM_CONFIG_INFO on one of the laptops. I can't really find much information online about this error message. One thing I found says it's bad memory and, if this is the case, maybe I will not need to reinstall, but, frankly, I wouldn't mind not to give this thing a new start. It has always been the poor cousin of the two laptops, which is kind of funny (not) because I bought them both at the same time and we were clearly less perky since birth.

Thanks to anyone who can help me here.

Depending on the country you are, you will need to ask them to dell support.

  • Win 7 (x 64) no family Premium BSOD 0xF4 no Dump

I recently built a customized desktop.  Here is the card with links from Newegg in case more is needed:

    Software - Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit)
    Disc 1 - LITE-ON Blu-ray
    Disc 2 - DVD/CD Sony
This is the first computer I built, so I was very happy when everything worked the first time.  The only changes from the BIOS, I did were the profile of time and memory (the new profile has been provided by the manufacturer - no custom changes have been made in the case).  I installed windows and then formatted the drive twice because I decided that I wanted to do something different.  On the third installation, I used a NTFS junction to move the Users folder on the second disc.
    C:\ (SSD - system)
    D:\ (1 TB HDD)
It seems to work pretty well until I've had the occasional BSOD.  He always says "a process or thread crucial to system operation has unexpectedly released or ended."  Error code was 0x000000F4.  The first parameter is 0 x 3, so it is a process.  I changed the memory profile to default in BIOS, but the BSOD kept returning.
I had trouble getting Windows updated after that, and after a few fruitless troubleshooting, decided to reinstall everything Windows once more.  Now I'm on my fourth install (user is back on the SSD for now) and I still get the BSOD with the same mistakes.  The BSOD doesn't dump any report or restart the computer, either, so I have no additional information to work off of.  It happened during update, download, market at idle and start, leading me to believe that it's a hardware problem.
All the drivers are up to date (except maybe the wireless card since the site of TP-LINK is down).
All Windows updates have been installed.
    SFC indicated no error.
    MemTest86 + not reported no error (single-pass).
    ChkDsk (read-only) reported no error.
However, ChkDsk on restart gives me a BSOD before she can finish.  This one says "BAD_SYSTEM_CONFIG_INFO" with the error code 0 x 00000074.  This leaves me wondering if there is a problem with the RAM.  Is it possible that MemTest86 + does not report an error and the memory still be defective?
Some resources also suggested that the 0xF4 error could be because of a bad SATA connection between the motherboard and the SSD (in this case).  The SATA cable is not hold on very tight ports hot in my case, but it seems to stay very well.  This could also be the problem
    ?
Other resources also suggested that 0xF4 error could be caused by a timeout during the awakening of the computer from sleep mode.  I did, however, without a BSOD.  I think that the problem must be with the processor, RAM or SSD.  I think of RMAing the memory, but I want to assure you that it is RAM before I head to the College.
Thanks in advance for any help!

I have not deleted IE in one installation, but I used Google Chrome when able.

I just installed Windows 7 Ultimate cool (with a touch of quick access for now).  I installed the mobo drivers, graphic drivers, then the driver wifi - all this without a network connection.  I did not connect to any network after installing the wifi driver, but it crashed shortly after anyway.
Don't know what to do with it.  Nevertheless, I do a recovery of the system right now to remove the wifi driver.
EDIT: It has crashed already after that.  Now I get to before the graphics drivers.

My daughters Toshiba S955-S5373 went all green, she says while she helped the battery out. I didn't know she was in trouble. We tried to solve; However, Bad_system_config_info appears before diagnosing and resolving problems. After 4 hours, nothing has been resolved.

Original title: Toshiba S955-S5373 will not start

    Hi Annaed,

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

I can understand your concerns to your system and will certainly guide you in the right direction to solve the problem.

Control bug BAD_SYSTEM_CONFIG_INFO occurs if the SYSTEM registry hive is damaged. However, this corruption is generally unlikely, because the bootloader, known as NT Loader (NTLDR) in versions of Windows prior to Vista, checks a hive for corruption when loading the hive.

This bug check can also occur if some values and critical registry keys are missing. You keys and values may be absent, if a user manually change the registry.

As per the error message "the drive where windows is installed is locked, unlock the drive and try again", I would refer to the suggestions posted by phanlon7 replied on 12 October 2013 in the next thread and check if they are useful.
