bare metal Windows Installer 10

If I do a "bare metal" upgrading to W10, how then install the HP software features I want, like sleep and extended features, the HP documentation, etc.

Note: I don't have the backup of HP, I think the other backup software works erfectly well.  I don't want no other option of HP.

M $ 'check PC' concludes that the Folio 13-1016TU can run W10 and all my programs and satisfactory equipment.  In my opinion this Upgrade Advisor is leaves much to be desired, and I was informed that his performance is the responsibility of MS rather than program and material suppliers.

Yes, the laptop should still run Win10 with no major problems, even though as you say, the Upgrade Advisor may not always be accurate.

I would create a picture as you do already.

As for your suggestion concerning the audit of the controller and then using vSphere converter, do you want to say I point the converter on the VMDK 'broken' and choose a Machine configuration option?

What you can do with VMware Converter, is to run the Machine "set up" against the power off VM (simply select the virtual computer after connecting to the host or vCenter). I mentioned to check the controller before doing this, because this controller is the default configuration for the operating system you use.

  • When I install iTunes Windows Installer closes

For general advice, see troubleshooting problems with iTunes for Windows updates.

The steps described in the second case are a guide to remove everything related to iTunes and then rebuild what is often a good starting point, unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach.

Review the other boxes and other support documents list to the bottom of the page, in case one of them applies.

More information area has direct links with the current and recent buildings if you have problems to download, must revert to an older version or want to try the version of iTunes for Windows (64-bit-for old video cards) as a workaround for problems with installation or operation, or compatibility with QuickTime software or a third party.

Backups of your library and device should be affected by these measures but there are links to backup and recovery advice there.

    Hi Dominic,

Are you able to get into BIOS to make changes?

If so, you can try to reset the default settings of the BIOS and check.

NOTE: Change (CMOS) BIOS/complementary metal oxide semiconductor settings can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the configuration of the BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Changes to settings are at your own risk.

You can also try to remove all external usb devices that can be connected to the system and start-up and see if the system boots.

    Issue of Windows install

I just bought a HP Photosmart printer and I am trying to install the software on my computer. (OS is Windows Vista.) When I try to install my software, I get an error message that "Windows Installer could not be accessed". I ran "msconfig" and found that the Modual from Windows Installer status is stopped. How should I proceed?

    Thank you, Jeanne Vecere

You could try to go to the MICROSOFT website, go to KNOWLAGE database and in the search bar, try the search for WINDOWS INSTALLER. Look for any version that is newer than the one you have. If this fails, try searching on GOOGLE. You can also try to do an update to WINDOWS VISTA.

IF YOU ARE RUNNING 64-BIT WINDOWS, MAKE SURE YOU PRINTER WORKS WITH 64-BIT.

    Hi lmcrae,

Put your computer in a clean boot configuration to determine which product is responsible for this. Clean boot is a way convenient, safer to change the options for startup in the registry; You can turn individual items or disable freely to try various combinations up to that narrow you the problem. Once you find out, post details about the same so that we can take additional measures.

Please see this article for detailed information on how to do it.

However if I go in "C:\Windows\System32" and run the msiexec.exe which is where I get:

    "Windows Installer has stopped working".

    And another window that says:

"The application could not initialize properly (0 x 0000005). Click OK to close the application.

    ----------------------------------------------------

    Edit:

    I went to HKLM/System/CurrentControlSet/Services/msiserver

By then replaced the key 'ImagePath' '%systemroot%system32\msiexec/v' '%systemroot%SysWOW64\msiexec/v '.

I was able to install only certain programs.

I was able to install the rescue of the music. But I wasn't able to install iTunes 9.2

I am running Vista Home Premium:

    How can I fix it?

    Haha. Thank you Michael.

But I have to able to do work properly now. I'll post any major change (that I remember), just in case where someone wants to try what I did.

    ---------------------------------------------

I deleted everything I could in my temporary files.

Then I went "HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\PendingFileRenameOperations" and cleared the entries.

    I went to HKLM/System/CurrentControlSet/Services/msiserver

By then replaced the key 'ImagePath' '%systemroot%system32\msiexec/v' '%systemroot%SysWOW64\msiexec/v '.

    Restarted my PC

    HKLM/System/CurrentControlSet/Services/msiserver/ImagePath change back to "%systemroot%system32\msiexec c".

A run "cmd" and input "msiexec /unreg" then he walked "msiexec/regserver".

    My PC rebooted again

    Profit :D

    Worked for me.

I hope someone has a suggestion for this problem... I just bought a new laptop and Windows 7 Professional came installed on it.

    Thank you

    Linney thanks for your response!

The file I'm trying to install is an exe file (so the SIG file is embedded in the exe file).

I tried the option "Run As Administrator" and it did not work.  However, you gave me an idea that has provided a work around that allowed me to install the program.

Once this dialog box is displayed with all the control switches, rather than press 'OK', I left on the screen and went in the 'temp' folder and find the MSI program I tried to install (I cross referenced the timestamp of when I tried to install it to find).

Once I found the updated file, I clicked it, and he proceeded to install the program... I have not had any other problems with the installation.

So, there's something wrong with the way that the exe file have been created and how the files extracted from the msi file (these are files of Intel and Lenovo - driver updates - so I think they do these things) or there is a problem with Windows Installer.

For now, at least, I have a work around I use until I find a solution to this problem of permanent

Thanks for your help and for taking the time to answer!

I hope this can help someone else in the future

  • Windows Installer stuck on manual, can not install programs

  • Bare metal to VM and network lost settings

Customer site, IBM System x 3650 running VMware ESX Server 3i in turn four servers to Windows Server 2003.

Customer has decided on this approach for the DRP.  Three of the servers have been made VMs of bare metal servers back to Headquarters.  A problem noted with raising in the virtual machine environment is that they have lost the original network settings - which is logical given the fact that the adapter is different.  But it would be nice if it were the case that is static, gateway IP address and DNS settings could be part of the virtual network adapter settngs machine.  What are the options?  This is adjustable during the construction of the virtual machine?  Or is it possible to create a virtual adapter to a bare metal Server?  Others?

A newbie question - please be patient...

    Thank you!

    David

As Erik said, remove all the drivers and hardware (com ports, serial, floppy disk, NIC ports, etc.) of the virtual machine. Among the pitfalls that you may experience after the P2V is sometimes the old IP settings are required to and you can even assign the same virtual IP address to the new network card because windows has this IP linked to the old physical card. That's when you need to run the "show no present devices ', so that you can remove the old nic in Device Manager for the news of the intellectual property contained in the output register. You might have to restart the virtual machine that you can assign the IP address to the new virtual card.

    Thank you
