Basic sql oca lession doubts 3 on error ora-01858

SELECT last_name, hire_date

talk about books, it will leave an error (ora-01858 which is a non-numeric error) but the statement being executed perfectly while
by removing this "fx" - prefix gives an error called ora-01861.

I'm confused here? can someone show me the right way?

Hello

The result depends on your NLS parameters. Yours probably are on something different than AMERICAN. In you language in may can then have a different number of characters (?)

That's why you hit the ORA-01861 FX Format model with something else without. (Do not see why you should get ORA-01858, however)

Peter

    This view works, IE produced good results by operating (i.e. select * from...) with SQL Developer and SQL Workshop of the Apex section.

    But when I try to produce an Apex report, use it as a data source, I get the following error:

    ORA-01858: a non-digit character was found here where was waiting for a digital

    The error is displayed before that appear part any report itself, that is to say the header of the region is displayed and then the error message.

    So far, everything I could find on the forums or AskTom suggests that this is probably due to a problem. But the goal here is to summarize records dated by month, so I've extracted the elements year and date values, convert them to strings (using TO_CHAR) and then using the resulting chains of "MON - YY" to group the results.

    If there is a better way, I'm interested.

    But I do not understand why the Apex seems to be rejecting what appears to be valid results from a query of valid work.

    Any ideas? Suggestions?

    See you soon,.

    Peter

    You hit some implicit date conversion problem, probably caused by the preferred language of the browser in combination with the use of literals in the query.
    It's a bad idea to use literals as July 1, 2009"in an environment like Apex, which may have different date forrmats according to the preferences of the user.

    At the beginning of the rendered page Apex performs a SESSION of ALTER to change various NLS parameters.
    You can see this by turning on debugging, look for NLS in the resulting output and take a look at the settings that the Apex is application.
    The literal 1 July 2009"means the format DD-MON-YYYY mask, but regional settings applied through Apex may involve a different date format mask.

    This error comes in dates d1 & d2 referring, but I did not how slove it.
    can someone help me pls
    Kind regards
    Pavan

    There are two types of errors that I see. First, fix the date format before removing the slashes (because the source has no slash).

    D1: = to_date (SYDS, 'MMDDYYYY');
    D2: = to_date (SYDE, 'MMDDYYYY');

    Secondly, in the statement immediately execute you put in the text "d1" and "d2", not the values of d1 and d2. You must either concatenate the values like this:

    to_date('||) D1 |', "MM/DD/YYYY)

    Or better yet, use bind variables like this:

    to_date(:B1,''MM/DD/YYYY'')

    and add a "using" clause

    using d1, d2;

    I made the changes in the code. Try this:

    declare
      SMO  varchar2(100);
      SDO  varchar2(100);
      SYO  varchar2(100);
      SYDS varchar2(100);
      SYDE varchar2(100);
      a    varchar2(100);
      b    number;
      d1   date;
      d2   date;
    begin
      select to_char(sysdate, 'MM'),
             to_char(sysdate, 'DD'),
             to_char(sysdate, 'YYYY')
        into SMO, SDO, SYO
        from dual;
      SYDS := '0602' || SYO;
      SYDE := '0902' || SYO;
      d1   := to_date(SYDS, 'MMDDYYYY');
      d2   := to_date(SYDE, 'MMDDYYYY');
      execute immediate 'select to_char(DATE_OF_JOIN,''YY''),
                         COUNT(TOTAL_NO_STUDENTS)
                         from CROP_SALE
                         where class=7
                         and to_char(DATE_OF_JOIN,''YYYY'')=to_char(sysdate,''YYYY'')
                         and to_date(to_char(DATE_OF_JOIN),''MM/DD/YYYY'') > :B1
                         and to_date(DATE_OF_JOIN,''MM/DD/YYYY'') < :B2
                         group by to_char(DATE_OF_JOIN,''YY'')'
        into a, b
        using d1, d2;
      dbms_output.put_line(a || b);
    end;

    Edit: Fixed the to_date function, which operated on a date. Also fixed an extra | After the selection

    Your Oracle_Home in the Listenerpcis of the Oracle Listener setting does not match the House reported in the status of the listener:

    In config you have published, you must:

    SID_LIST_LISTENERPCIS =
    (SID_LIST =
    (SID_DESC =
    (PROGRAM = DG4ODBC)
    (SID_NAME = PCIS)

    Please correct the Oracle_Home adjustment in the listener.ora file - and then stop and restart the listener.

    Hello
    In the error message, it is clear that stop db is in progress. Must wait some time yet so that will end the shutdown process, then you can start. If you do not have the waiting time you reboot the machine so that once the server has been restarted, you can start your database.

    OIC in TimesTen is supported by a modified version of the Oracle Instant Client. It is the version that is installed with TimesTen in the /ttoracle_home directory. In the future, support for the OIC TimesTen will be merged into the main Oracle client code base, but that does not is it still. Yes, at the moment to use OCI (and so Pro * C, since the Pro * C uses OCI) with TimesTen, you are limited to only using the special moment Client supplied with TimesTen. This special moment customer is able to communicate with the two TimesTen and Oracle DB; It's a customer snapshot Oracle DB 11.1.0.7.0 standard with a few additions so that he could work with TimesTen.

    The way that support of the OIC is working in TimesTen is that you need to configure a special TNS (in tnsnames.ora) service for the DSN data store that you want to connect to (i.e. you must all the ODBC configuration normal configuration in sys.odbc.ini). In your BEAK (or pro * C) code you can connect to that service name. There is a special code in the BEAK / SQL * Net stack such that when he sees it connects to TimesTen instead of oracle takes a path of different code that loads the ODBC TimesTen driver and use it to talk to TimesTen. This is of cousre all transparent to the application. The application moves done what OIC calls as usual.

    All of this is detailed in the developer's Guide C TimesTen which is part of the defined TimesTen documentation as well as the various restrictions and limitations that apply to the use of Pro * C and OIC with TimesTen. One of the documented restriction is that althouth the customer Instant TT includes a binary sqlplus, that can be used with oracle databases. It is not working properly and is therefore not supported with, TimesTen.

    I hope that clarifies. For more information please see the Guide to the Developer TimesTen C.

    SQL Developer: Failure-Test failed: IO error: Got minus one since a call to reading

    Hello

    I'm sorry I know this is probably more frequently asked question, but I have no idea what I should get.
    I looked at the error message above to see if I could find a solution, but unfortunately I do not have.

    Right let me start with I'm a Total Noob... Well it terms of having to install Oracle 11 g myself.
    In my University they welcomed a database and we assigned to a user & pass it's how I was using SQL Developer,.
    but since I'm no longer a student at the University. I need to use the Oracle database.

    So I downloaded Oracle 11 g Enterprise installed on my laptop that I don't use much.
    Name of the database: Christiane

    It of the entire facility and seems to have succeeded, I went https://localhost:1158 / em (although not sure why em? what's the deal with that?) I thought that it would be Https://localhost:1158 / Christiane) anyway...
    Connected with the user of the System .
    Went to users and creates a named user: RUDUHR

    Thinking Yes its not work... go my other laptop open SQL Developer.

    Connection created with the following settings
    Name of con: RK
    User: RUDUHR
    Pass: TEST
    Con type: basic
    Role: by default
    Hostname: 192.168.0.8
    Port: 1158
    SID: Christiane

    It does not work well, why is that?
    192.168.0.8 is portable which oracle 11g installed and running.

    I even tried to use SYSTEM user to connect, but same error
    also tried to change the SID to em, it made no difference I get the error message status: failure Test failed: IO error: Got minus one since reading call

    So are am clueless... LOL I only know how to create tables and stuff not how to set up a database.
    and just to let you know that I transfer the port on me correct portable router.

    It does not work well, why is that?
    192.168.0.8 is portable which oracle 11g installed and running.

    It's because you read the documentation.

    1158 is the default port for Enterprise Manager
    1521 is the default port for Sqlnet.
    Your port number is incorrect.

    Of course, you can create your tables in EM too.

    As by the Forums of the label of the post (first link when you arrive at this page) it is recommended that read the documentation before asking an another Doc issue yet.

    update of sql server 2005 service pack 3 error code 6D9E Windows update security does not accept the update

    Hey lasdj,

    Thanks for posting in the Microsoft answers site!

    If you receive Windows Update error 6d9e while installing SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 3 by using Windows Update, it means that the installation folders and directories are compressed or encrypted.

    To fix this problem, make sure the folder locations where you are installing the service pack to aren't compressed or encrypted, or specify a different folder and then run Windows Update again.

    Therefore, remove the compression of the DATA directory and run together to the top again.

    Remove compression from the C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server folder and see if you are able to install the updates without any problem.

    See the links below for more details:

    Passing data from attachment of DB (Blob data Type) after the CLOB data type conversion, giving the error "ORA-06502: PL/SQL: digital error or value" in the PL/SQL package. If the BLOB size 32K > it will give another error works great my procedure.

    For example, I enclose my code here.

    function get_base64 (p_blob_in in blob) return clob is

    CLOB v_clob;

    CLOB v_result;

    whole v_offset;

    v_chunk_size PLS_INTEGER: = 12288;

    v_buffer_varchar varchar2 (32767).

    v_buffer_raw raw (32767).

    Start

    fnd_file.put_line (fnd_file.log, 'here');

    If p_blob_in is null then

    Returns a null value.

    end if;

    DBMS_LOB.CREATETEMPORARY (v_clob, true);

    fnd_file.put_line (fnd_file.log, 'here1');

    v_offset: = 1;

    fnd_file.put_line (fnd_file.log, 'Loop value'-| ceil (DBMS_LOB.) GetLength (p_blob_in) / v_chunk_size));

    because me in 1... ceil (DBMS_LOB. GetLength (p_blob_in) / v_chunk_size) loop

    DBMS_LOB. Read (p_blob_in, v_chunk_size, v_offset, v_buffer_raw);

    v_buffer_raw: = utl_encode.base64_encode (v_buffer_raw);

    v_buffer_varchar: = utl_raw.cast_to_varchar2 (v_buffer_raw);

    DBMS_LOB. WriteAppend (v_clob, length (v_buffer_varchar), v_buffer_varchar);

    v_offset: = v_offset + v_chunk_size;

    end loop;

    fnd_file.put_line (fnd_file.log, 'Out of the loop');

    v_result: = v_clob;

    fnd_file.put_line (fnd_file.log, 'V_result length' - |) DBMS_LOB. GetLength (v_result));

    fnd_file.put_line (fnd_file.log, 'V_result' - | v_result);

    DBMS_LOB.freeTemporary (v_clob);

    Return v_result;

    exception

    while others then

    fnd_file.put_line (fnd_file.log, 'Error based on the encode_base64' - |) SQLERRM);

    Returns a null value.

    end;

    In my main program I call this function as below:

    Main proceedings...

    l_return_clob CLOB.

    Begin

    ....

    l_return_clob: = get_base64 (p_blob_in);

    -In returning it gives error - ORA-06502: PL/SQL: digital error or value

    end;

    Then, please mark the thread ANSWERED.

  • error ora-00036 maximum number of levels of sql recursive (50) exceeded

    I have a trigger of the declaration on the LEVELS table, I want to update COMPONENTS field when another field is changed in TIERS, in order to avoid the calculations, I used to ch line shutter COMPONENTS to complete a package, but I get this error ora-00036 maximum number of recursive sql exceeded (50)

    It's my trigger:

    create or replace trigger DBTRGA_UPD_TIERS

      after update on tiers

      I INT ;

      FOR I IN (PKG_TIERS. TAB. FIRST)... (PKG_TIERS. TAB. Last) LOOP

    UPDATE to levels

    PUT REFERENCE_EXTERNE = "YYYY"

    WHERE LEVELS = PKG_TIERS. TAB (I). I_TIERS;

      END LOOP;

    end DBTRGA_UPD_TIERS;

    This is ma for each trigger line:

    create or replace trigger DBTRGA_UPD_TIERS_E

    after Update FOR CODE_TYPE_TIERS on LEVELS

      for each row

    V_CPT INTEGER ;

      IF : NEW. CODE_TYPE_TIERS IS NOT NULL THEN

    IF PKG_TIERS. TAB. LAST IS NULL THEN

    PKG_TIERS. TAB(1). I_TIERS: =: NEW. BLEACHERS;

    PKG_TIERS. TAB(1). CODE_TYPE_TIERS: =: NEW. CODE_TYPE_TIERS;

       ELSE

    V_CPT: = PKG_TIERS. TAB. LAST + 1;

       END IF;

      END IF;

    end DBTRGA_UPD_TIERS_E;

    Clearly, you have past of recursion.  After updating the table of LEVELS, then a statement trigger level (after update) as the fires that updates the table LEVELS... which will cause then itself to once again fire... which will cause himself to fire once again... which will cause itself to the light again... etc etc.

    If it is a business logic that should be implemented, so you don't want to include it as a trigger, you want to just have a code in a package that updates the table once.

    If it were me, I would scrap two triggers in this case.  Have a trigger is fired for each row updated (in SQL) which has then cross to the PL/SQL package for details of this update line, means you to act so the context switching between SQL and PL/SQL for each update line, which will affect the performance of the updates.

    Explain what you're actually trying to do (business logic), with a few examples and data tables and we might be able to propose a better approach, which is not abusing triggers in this way.

    in Chile, the decimal point are ', 'no'.', the xml data table is OK for us

    You do not understand.

    Regardless of the locale, numeric values limited by a type of data XS: Decimal must use a point in a correct XML representation, otherwise, the document is not valid by the XSD.

    (3) TO_CHAR (...) the code is part of a procedure

    Again, do NOT build a dynamic path like that.

    Why not just move through the records returned by the query (if you need close at all)?

    FOR rec in)

    SELECT x.*

    From your_table t

    XMLTABLE (...) x

    LOOP

    END LOOP;
