Batch convert docs Pages in .pdf

I have a big folder of docs Pages (5.6.2) I want to convert .pdfs. I have Adobe Acrobat Pro (10.1.16), but have not figured out who to do this.) Does anyone know one way that laboriously open each .doc and print to .pdf?

Roger,

I have a script that allows you to interactively select the Pages or Word documents, a folder of this mixture, or a combination of files and folders. She also works as a target of drag and drop for the elements of the first sentence. In both cases of execution, documents will be converted to the same location of system files with the PDF extension. Other features:

  1. Use the workflow Automator composed of Ask for items in the Finder and filter actions items Finder that allow files and folders multiple selection, then filter for the record, pages, files of Word.doc/.docx. This particular implementation does not raise the file picker on everywhere in windows.
  2. Selectable PDF export quality
    1. Interactive mode: Pages v5.6 + offers export image quality settings. A list of popups of quality is provided. Default value is best.
    2. Mode of drag and drop: Pages If v5.6 +, then the default is best PDF. No interactivity.
    3. Either mode: No Pages v5.6 +, then export Pages by default quality which is likely good. Cannot be set programmatically in the script.
  3. Visibility of extension PDF
    1. By default the Pages exported with hidden extension.
    2. Script forces finder to make the visible extension.
  4. Finder comment
    1. Get Info comment in the PDF document displays the version of Pages who wrote the PDF and the quality setting.
  5. Notification at the end of the treatment.
    1. At the end of the treatment, a panel of Notification will be drag from the right and the number of records processed.

Because of all the extra features, the AppleScript code is long but reasonably readable (and tested). You will need to create a workflow Automator action-two requesting the files and folders, using AppleScript. I'll give you detailed instructions. Is this something that you want to implement? If so, my follow-up post will have everything you need batch convert any Pages or Word files to PDF.

  • Cannot convert Web Page to PDF: file not found

    Hello

I can't convert some open web pages as PDF documents:

I select the option "convert Web Page to PDF ', after which the dialog box opens to ask me where I want to save etc. A file name is already suggested, if I click on save: I get an error message saying that the file is not found then and to check the name of the file, and then try again.

I have tried to change the file name & record the location, but get the same result.

    Any ideas, please?

Acrobat Pro DC, running in Windows 10, Internet Explorer 11

Microsoft in their wisdom made sure the convert in acrobat function will not work unless you disable some of the web security in internet Explorer in Windows 10.  In Internet Explorer, click: tools, Internet options, security and uncheck the Enable Protected Mode.  You must restart Internet Explorer.

This isn't a matter of adobe.  But maybe they could find a way to make their product work under this environment without turning off this feature in Internet Explorer in Windows 10.  Just talk as I pdf another program that works very well even with the Enable Protected Mode check box.  Hey - at least Microsoft included in version 10 to win, IE there is no way yet to use addons in the Edge program.

  • Convert Web Page to PDF via right-click

    Hello!

I scoured the forums and can find similar problems, but not exactly.  I apologize in advance if this is a double post.

First of all, let me list the versions of software that I use:

    Internet Explorer v 6.0.2900.2180.xpsp_sp2_gdr.090206 - 1233

    Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional (8.0.0)

    Adobe Acrobat 8 taken into 'HTML2PDF.api' V 8.0.0

I'm not sure what other versions of plugin or to search for names, but the above seems to be correct.

I had previously just right-click on a Web page and select "convert to PDF".  Adobe would then load the content and I would like to see a dialogue box to save the file.  It is more the loading in Adobe, and the dialog box is therefore more poping up.  In essence, his sitting there looking at me.

I tried to work around this problem by using the function on the Welcome screen to "Convert Web page to PDF".  This is where you enter the URL, select the level or the detail etc.  This will open the Adobe content, but when I select Save or save as, he's sitting there.  These selections are not grayed out and seem to be available.

The feature was fine before and I checked with our IT and they are at a loss.  There were no updates of the system in recent weeks and they are not sure of what is causing the problem.  They have uninstalled and reinstalled the program twice.

I'm very grateful for any help.  I have read http://forums.adobe.com/thread/308220 and tried the fix listed in: http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=329345

Thanks in advance for your time!

    Amy

You have the option to menu PDF Maker on the taskbar of the IE. If this isn't the case, you probably have been locked out of PDF Maker by IE. It has probably been updated and see the PDF Maker macro as a virus, and you must activate it. I don't use IE, so I'm not the right way to do it, but that's probably what to look for.

  • Re: converting web pages to PDF

I downloaded the demo of Adobe Acrobat 11 and I am trying to download a Web page in pdf... but the continuous warning to tell me that I don't have the good adobe acrobat is installed. What I actually version full...  Where can I get a different version?

You cannot upgrade to this release as the Windows XP support was dropped in Acrobat 11.0.09. It's time to update your operating system...

  • Acrobat Pro 11.0.10 does not allow to convert me or batch convert MS Word to PDF files

I installed the latest version of Adobe Acrobat Pro for Windows (11.0.10) as a trial version.

When I convert a file Menu file / create...  PDF from file, a dialog box appears.

In the list there is no mention of MS Word (.doc, docx) files anywhere in the list of supported file types.

However, Excel and Powerpoint are in the list.

If I try to go to the batch to create files and manually, drag a document MS word on the palette, that adds it to the list but when I click on OK to start the conversation by lots, that it fails to convert.

I am running Windows 7 and and 2013 Office installed with all the latest service packs and patches applied.

I tried to do a repair of Microsoft Office, but that he did not set.

Uninstalled Acrobat Pro several times and also did not set.

I will definitely not buy this software if it does not recognize the Word as the reason that I was experimenting, he had to give me a way to bulk convert a lot of Word documents both rather having to open each one in the word itself and save to the PDF format.

    Kind regards

    Gray.

    Hello

Thanks for the information. I guess that's causing the problem.

Can you please try to change the 'Default' to 'Word.Document.8' registry key value, and let us know if your problem is solved.

    Thank you

  • Doc page PDF export.

When I export a doc page to PDF function stops page index score does not appear to work, for example, when I place the cursor on the page number in the new PDF, the hand symbol copy content page and the page does not open.

That ability is not taken in charge when Pages PDF exports. In fact, there is no usable exported links. A downside when you export to PDF is that supported in Adobe Acrobat features are not supported in no Adobe product of PDFs.

  • Batch instead of doc pages conversion

    Hi friends,

I decided to go completely of the word Pages (and also Excel to numbers etc.). It has been a long time coming, hampered mainly by the inconvenience of having a large existing collection of Word documents that I need to save to the format of Pages (and then manually delete the original Word file) then, or don't forget to export them to Word.

So my request is simple: can someone help me with an Applescript or Automator workflow that I can point to a file or a selection of Word documents (or even a more containing Word documents and other files), which will be open them in Pages, save them up as Pages and then delete or ideally move to a folder on the desktop the original Word file?

Unfortunately, my experience with Applescript and Automator is limited. I'm willing to learn, but I am writing here in the hope that someone might have tried this before. It seems strange that it is not a tool of migration there for people willing to engage fully in Pages, Numbers and Keynote. Apparently a lot of tools exist for ing the other way, but nothing for people so impressed with iWork they want to completely drop MS Office.

The two really important parts of what I would be a lie to do is from the Save in place (so I don't need to re - drop everything) and move the original Word doc to a folder somewhere (so I can find it again if something had gone wrong and archive or delete it easily later).

    Any suggestions or pointers appreciated!

    Tom

    Tom,

Move your entire collection of Word to Pages document is a very bad idea, based on three years of posts in the support Pages community.

    • Pages is not a clone of Word and lacks most of the functionality of Word of professional level you will soon run out.
    • Pages is not guaranteed to open or export documents Word accurately with some features do not exist in both applications.
    • Pages never will allow you to open, edit and save Word documents in their native document architecture. Everything, including export is an exercise in translation of cross-your-fingers.
    • Pages will simply not open Word documents that are too old or too inconsistent.
    • No other application on the planet cannot open Pages v5 documents.

Recommended alternative: 2016 Office for Mac.

There are answers here to simply download the free LibreOffice, which is a replacement for MS Office suite. Even with manuals PDF LibreOffice, there is not a rapid mapping of your skills of Word/Excel for LibreOffice Writer and Calc. It has some of the best compatibility of Word and Excel documents, after these two applications Microsoft themselves. But there is a learning curve 'tax' to become proficient in LibreOffice, who skip a lot in their recommendation of it.

It is a relatively simple exercise of AppleScript coding to batch convert Word into Pages documents, but the challenge you face is that Pages will throw a warning dialog box whenever it encounters a Word document with import warnings or errors. When this occurs, it interrupts the script which may intervene in the process of importing Pages.

  • pass a PDF to doc pages

I have a PDF I want to convert a doc Pages. Is it possible to do it outside of a cut and paste? TIA

The least amount of work (except if you're talking about very large PDF) is simply copying and pasting the PDF pages. Most of the time formatting is preserved and there is little time lost in form/reconstruction of the contents of post-treatment rehabilitation. If you need to extract Images from a PDF, open in LibreOffice Draw and select individual images. You can't convert a PDF to Word in LibreOffice.

PDF documents are formats end and no internal representation of a word processing document. For example, select all content, by copying and pasting into a document Pages will focus on the text with attributes, but leave behind no selectable objects (e.g. images). If the fonts embedded in the PDF file are not installed on OS X, then you may text replacement, or gibberish, which can lead to more questions.

Office 2016 for Windows, according to Microsoft, you can open a PDF in Word 2016 and convert a .docx Word document. From there, you can do more to OS X and open with Pages ' 09, or the most recent Pages v5. Office 2016 for Mac doesn't have this capability.

Adobe Acrobat Reader has a button to convert PDF to Word, but is a tariffed service. There are several free applications on the web, and some of them are in the OS X App Store that are supposed to convert the formats PDF to Word (and, possibly, Pages ' 09). Product of Wondershare made a mess of the conversion of PDF to Word documents and Pages ' 09, so there is a high probability that you are facing a lot of time lost in the restoration of document.

OS x Automator has an action to capture text with attributes of a PDF file (RTF) or gross and he writes as .txt or .rtf. Pages ' 09 can read document .rtf format, but the v5.6.1 Pages does not support. So you should have open this file in TextEdit or LibreOffice and two, export to Word .docx to get in v5.6.1 Pages. Just a PITA.

From what you have read above, what approach do you take?

  • Convert doc file generated by OpenOffice to PDF X1a

Hi, I have a file .doc originally produced by Open Office Writer and then converted to Word format. I would now like to use Acrobat 10 to convert this .doc file format PDF X, but I'm not having any luck. I tried the following two methods:

    1. I am able to use Open Office Writer to convert it into a normal PDF format. I tried to take this PDF file and convert them to a PDF-X file by using Acrobat Pro preflight, but a lot of mistakes appear.

    2. If I start in Acrobat Pro, select Create a file PDF file, select my documents, none of the .doc files produced in Open Office appear on the list – as if Acrobat Pro will read all files .doc produced by Open Office.

I hope someone can help. I'm new to Acrobat Pro.

    Thanks in advance.

Use Ctrl-P or use FILE > print when you OO Writer open with your document. You should get something like below.

Just select the Adobe PDF printer, check the properties if you want, and then print. In this case, OO shows a preview of the pages in the document, they should look. I created a simple as an example. I made a preflight after using the PDF - X1A parameters and had identified errors. One of them had to do with markup that does not occur when you use printing. You could try to print normally and then use preflight to convert. I also tried and still have errors. At least I have given you a few things to try.

It's a question of how the recipients e-mail programs deal with attachments. Many e-mail programs will open all the files they can handle, including files jpg and PDF, by default, and if the recipient has not changed that there is nothing you can do about it. The only solution is to the compress first, then it will be delivered as an attachment, allowing the recipient to decompress and open it.
