Battery bad SG500 mac address?

Hello

This is my connection scheme.

There is a problem of routing between VLANS if one of the devices connected to the unit 2.

In the same vlan are available for the other.

If PC200 related item in gi1/1/15

Sniff the ICMP traffic on item in gi1/1/15:

ICMP request for 192.168.112.1 to 192.168.101.200:

SRC: 24:01:c7:08:02:49 (192.168.101.254).

DST: b8:88:e3:0e:1 has: da (192.168.101.200)

DST: 24:01:c7:08:00:01 (192.168.101.254)

Where is this (24:01:c7:08:00:01) mac address appear? The arp on PC200 table is none.

LoDo, in my view, it is a bug. Best that I would recommend is call the HWC and make a deal. I think it's related to the bug

  • SG500 showing the same MAC address on more than one port?

My ISP has been help me solve a problem that we had with an interaction between our SG500 battery on HP customer premises equipment.

I have the stack of SG500 divided into two VIRTUAL LANs. 8-port VLAN11 and the rest on VLAN1. Both are of VLAN native, not marked so they will carry only the traffic for their own VLAN with no mixing. I also route between these VLANs on the stack.

    VLAN11 switch ip: 10.76.20.20

    IP switch VLAN1: 10.1.1.1

I took a port for each VLAN and plugged into the HP PSI switch, where he adapt VLANS separated which then connect to a remote data center through an MPLS.

Here's the question: the SG500 seems to have mac address base on two HP PSI switch ports. This disrupts the HP switch, and I end up having packets to fall into a black hole. This is the output of the switch from HP showing mac based battery SG500 goods between ports in seconds:

HP # display the address mac 8843e1-af7085

    Status and counters - Address-Table - 8843e1-af7085

    MAC address: 8843e1-af7085

    Located on the Port: 15

HP # display the address mac 8843e1-af7085

    Status and counters - Address-Table - 8843e1-af7085

    MAC address: 8843e1-af7085
    Located on the Port: 11

Any idea what's going on here? It's as if the SG500 uses the MAC even for both its IP addresses.

    Thank you!

Hi Dani, the only MAC address announced by SX300/500 series should be the Mac system if you show on the SX500 mac address table, you should see the MAC even for both VLAN. I don't know why, is to confuse the HP switch unless it does not correctly between switches vlan tag.

  • Disable broadcast SSID and MAC address turn on filtering on WAG320N

When disabling SSID broadcast and enabling MAC address filtering on WAG320N, my other laptop wireless disconnected.  And when you try to connect, it connects again.

You can not hide from intruders.

The router always sends the tag. The router is immediately detected.

The SSID is always transferred not encrypted. He is always sent over the association. It is easy to force a re-Association. If there is a single device without wire connected to the access point it takes about a second to learn the SSID.

Disable the SSID requires your wireless devices to search actively for the network. This means that your laptop will always try to connect to your SSID, as long as it is not connected to another network. As sending requires much more power then listen passively it drains your battery.

And, in fact, if you are in an internet café anyone can learn your SSID in time where you go on the wireless at the moment where you associate with the network of internet café.

In addition, it causes many problems with different wireless, as instability or similar cards.

MAC filtering is still more useless that the MAC address is always part of any wireless transmission and it's always clear. It is extremely easy to pick up the allowed MAC addresses, and it is extremely easy to change the MAC address of a wireless card.

New: use the real security and forget this nickname of security features.

What you try to do is a waste of time. Of your time. It will slow down any intruder.

  • IPad wi - fi MAC address not "MAC address" according to the Linksys router

    WRT55AG 2.0:

Failed to save the MAC address of my new iPad wi - fi MAC filtering table.  Upgrade to the latest firmware, but still does not work.  When I try to record, I get a pop-up that says: "not a MAC Address.

If I disable the MAC filtering, the iPad can be accessed via the router and the router shows the good MAC iPad in the customer table wireless, but I much perfer to have enabled MAC filtering.

    1. the MAC address filter is not a problem. It's a joke. As I have said before: the MAC addresses are always transferred not encrypted. If someone tries to penetrate your WPA2 protected wireless network, it is necessary to capture a lot of wireless traffic to crack the password. By the time it is cracked (who is supposed to be very difficult and time consuming if the password is good) the hacker knows all the MAC addresses that are accepted for your wireless network.

2 No. more isn't always better. Are three locks on your door better than two? Ten are better than two? Why have you not 10 locks on your door? The longer the better? It's more, but the impact on you is much more important than the impact on an attacker. WPA2 with a strong password is like putting a stone wall think 100feet for protection. It is very high and very difficult to 'jump '. Filtering of MAC addresses is like putting another small 5 inch thin barrier in front of the wall. The longer the better? Anyone that can fly over the wall will easily get over the fence. The greatest effect of the fence, it's that you will sometimes fall on it because you have forgotten. Compared to WPA2 security with a password strong MAC filter is simply not useful.

    3. the same for the SSID broadcast. Leave it active. The SSID is always transferred unencrypted over the affair with the access point. Any malicious person can easily find your SSID. In addition, it is easy to force a device associated to re-associate. With the right software, it takes a few seconds to learn the SSID. And even with SSID broadcast disabled, him access point always sends a signal of ELT. This means that the existence of your access point is immediately visible. Just the SSID is not transmitted with the tag.

    4. the disabled SSID broadcast technically breaks the wireless standard. Problems with wireless clients are common.

    5. the hidden SSID will be also the batteries in your wireless devices: wireless device always must actively try to connect from the hidden SSID. There is no other way to find out whether there is in the range. If you have ten networks hidden in the list of your wireless device wireless networks will try these ten networks frequently to see if one of these is in the range. In other words, it will try to connect to the hidden SSID and see if anything responds. If you do not connect to any hidden SSID (i.e. all the wireless networks in your list are broadcast) then it is very easy to find out whether a network is within reach: the device has to do is passively listen to the signals from the tags. There is no need to send anything until a known SSID is within reach. Then only the wireless device will try to associate with the SSID.

So: don't hide your own SSID. And stay away from the other SSID hidden. Do not associate those or don't forget to remove from the list of preferred networks prior to departure. This will allow you to save a lot of battery power...

To summarize: your neighbor who doesn't know computers would have a problem with broadcast SSID disabled or filtering of MAC addresses. But your neighbour do not know how to use a software to crack a wireless anyway. Anyone who is sophisticated enough to try a good attack on a protected network WPA2 will have no problem with the SSID broadcast or filtering of MAC addresses.

And if it is an automated attack the SSID and MAC address is detected automatically. The broadcast SSID and MAC address filters are issues for you. They are not problems for any aggressor.

  • where can I find the mac address for Airport Extreme

just bought a new Airport Extreme 802.11ac and I don't know here to find the MAC ADDRESS. Can someone tell me where to look. I have the model and serial number, but can not find the MAC ADDRESS.

Is the AirPort Extreme, set up and operation right now... even if he could not have an Internet connection?

If Yes... Open the AirPort on your Mac utility... (Finder > Applications > utilities > AirPort Utility)

Hold down the option key on your Mac when you double-click on the image of the AirPort Extreme

The next page will display a summary of the parameters

The AirPort Extreme has done 3 different MAC addresses... Ethernet, WiFi 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz WiFi.   If your AirPort Extreme is connected to a modem by an Ethernet cable, then the Ethernet ID is the MAC address.

If the AirPort Extreme has not set up yet at all...

Open AirPort Utility as above, and then click the file menu in the upper left corner of the screen next to the Apple icon

    Click on configure the other

    For address, enter 10.0.1.1

A password is normally not necessary, but if you are prompted for a password, use the word

    public

Click OK, the settings summary page is displayed.  In most cases, given that the AirPort Extreme connects to a modem via an Ethernet connection, you want to use the Ethernet ID as the MAC address.

  • no no pick host server el capitan. List [MAC Address]:unkown.home

We have 21 iMacs running on the server (El Capitan, recently updated) and alone is binding. The solution is usually quite simple for users and groups in SysPref. Remove the server host and binding, find the available server in the option drop-down menu, but for some unknown reason, the server is listed as unkown-00-00-12-34-56-78.home , that I found is the MAC address of the server. I ran this in a terminal:

    sudo launchctl unload -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.mDNSResponder.plist

    and

    sudo launchctl load -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.mDNSResponder.plist

back to link the server in SysPref and correct server name option appears briefly and then changed back to "unkown-00-00-12-34-56-78.home" right before my eyes!

You see "unkown-00-00-12-34-56-78.home" anywhere on the server?

Is the correct server name a bonjour name? That is to say theServer.com? or is it a FQDN name? theServer.YourDomain.com?

What is the name of the performed client hello?

How can I solve this problem.

The printer attempted to join the network but does not receive any data.  This may be caused by the MAC address filtering. If MAC address filtering is enabled and you want to keep enabled, add the MAC address of your printer in the list of devices allowed for your wireless access point or router before continuing.

NIC seems to work fine with whatever he chooses - but how MAC address can be change by itself?

    > NIC seems to work fine with whatever he chooses - but how MAC address can be change by itself?

The physical MAC address is not editable, but there are a few ways to spoof the mac address
For example, using Windows XP, the MAC address can be changed in the properties of the Ethernet adapter. On the Advanced tab, under "MAC address", "Locally administered address", "Ethernet address" or "network address". The name of this option depends on the Lan driver that is installed on your laptop. And important note; not all drivers are supported changing the MAC address of this way.

In addition the system registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\ {4D36E972-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} contains some parameters of the network interface and the option called NetworkAddress will serve to set the MAC address.

There are also tools that could spoof the address MAC for example, SMAC MAC Address Changer.
Finally and above all some routers provide an option to change the MAC address.

OK, so I downloaded Skype, very well.
Skype automatically adds everyone in my mac address book (which I haven't checked over the years, is full of people I don't like and don't talk to!)
My question is, because Skype has added these contacts in my address book, these people will be notified somehow?

(Find it me * very * irritating I was not asked or encouraged that my address book stupid personal from my computer to add to Skype) n):

They won't be notified somehow. All Skype does is to read your address book and, if you do not want it to do this, go to Skype\Preferences\General and a tick 'view the contacts address book '.

A little research in the preferences helps a lot! ;-)
