  You can activate the infrared port in the Device Manager. Go to the SMC IrCC-Fast Infrared port a click with the right button of the mouse. Choose ACTIVATE.

  I have the Satellite 2430 101 for more than 2 years now and there is no problem. In the last two months, I recognized that it becomes very hot, especially when the game and turns off. So I started using a USB cooling pad. But now it turns off same whne this button sometimes using already after 1 h, in collaboration with etc anyone else have these problems? Or ideas of what goes wrong?

  I agree with Feliks. Satellite 1900 is an oldie and so it can t be upgraded with an internal wireless card LAN.

  Therefore buy a PCMCIA card with WLAN function or a WLAN USB key. On my old laptop I use a stick of the AVM and it works properly. :)

  You forget to mention what are the names of the dll-files :). But still, even with the names he cannot drive anywhere. First suggestion: run a full! ScanDisk on your primary partition (usually drive c :)). The lost files could come from the fact that your data are damaged somehow. Second, try to uninstall the Add/REMOVE program section powersaver module in the control panel. After you have uninstalled, try to install again.

  I just bought a PC2100 DDR - RAM 512 MB (my type of notebook memory) chip to upgrade my memory for laptop. I now have 768 MB. Manufacturer of the chip is Kingston, one of the best manufacturers as I've heard. But now, I get some problems. The system "crashes", my definition of the display remains 640 x 480 with 8-bit color and I got an error message saying that there is a problem with the driver ati2dvag.dll.
  I reinstalled windows, with my restore CD, but the problem remains.
  Any idea on this?

  I removed VISTA and installed XP on my Satellite P300 - 135 (PSPC4E). After that, I downloaded all the drivers for XP and installed. But the wireless card is not recognised and in Device Manager there are two features of problem:
  -Device on high definition audio bus modem and
  -Network controller.

  I remember well the type of my wireless card and tried first with Realtek, but it did not work. Then I tried with Intel and Atheros drivers, but they do not have too much work.

  I hope someone can help me, because I don't want to go back to VISTA.

  November 6 around 10:30 I received my laptop to the service with the following problems:

  1 overheating during operation

  The policy of the Service Restart/skin - the representative of the Romanian - States that any problem of the product which is not covered by the warranty, will be noticed as soon as the product obtained in service to the user in 48 h.

  November 8 at 11:00, after more than 48 hours, we called for the status of the product.
  We were informed that problems are warranty covered, that the necessary elements had been requested as well as to November 15, the laptop will be fixed.

  Around 12:00, we asked if we can get the laptop use it until the components are delivered.
  We were denied our request and after we received an email in which we have been informed that the second problem is not warranty covered.

  I want to say that this situation is not acceptable and as a user, I feel lied to me and missinformed by the service company.

  Second of all, I would like to inform you about the bad manners of exploitation used by the tehnician who opened the laptop.
  I myself work in a service company for Samsun Electronics Romania and I am aware of the ways to open a laptop.
  It isn't okay for a technician not to unscrew the whole laptop and only unscrew the half and pull the top cover and force.

  I want to ask you: don't you think it's OK to be informed that the problems are warranty covered and subsequently to find otherwise?

  Toshiba Romania said that's not their problem and that it is a problem between me and the service company.

  I mean, come on, they chose the service company and that they should also be responsible for their bad customer information.

  At this point, I think that nobody cares about my problem and she thinks that these problems happen only here in Romania.

  I think the biggest problem with this history of upgrade is that maybe the components inside your machine as the chipset are capable on the flyer to do even more, but the manufacturer of the system (in this case Toshiba) laptop made a few limitations that reduce some features or down to adapt to the needs of manufacturers so the system does not work just fine.

  I guess that your system is not in warranty, so if something to do with your machine it doesn´t really of importance since if damage you something on your machine, you can be sure that it will come a new machine. :)

  Regarding the memory modules, I think that you need to insert the stick of 512 MB on top of the motherboard because if the system supports no more than 768 MB you can stick on the bottom of the machine, a 256 MB stick.

  And regarding the CPU: s is not possible as there are a truly BEST cooling system then now. I think that the module of cooling of the machine is not able to manage this powerful CPU. If you really install the CPU, you'll have a fan that will never stop.
