  • BBM BBM for Android / iOs Vs for Blackberry BBM, BIS perspective

Now that blackberry launched BBM for users both android & iOs, they have a distinct advantage over native blackberry users. they do not need BIS to use BBM. It's kind of unfair to blackberry as android users users & iOs can use BBM on any single data plan, while BB users have a BIS data plan. cost wise it is a significant difference between regular & blackberry data plans data plans. Blackberry users have to spend on expensive BIS for BBM data plans, while android & iOs users can run on simple data without BIS plans.

    Its something that's bothering me.

You can. The new BlackBerry on BB10.

Guess what? Buy you an old car of the 1970s, and it will allow gasoline STAINED GLASS.

    Things change.

    Legacy BlackBerry require BIS. Period.

    Hello

No, unfortunately BBM cannot be used to send or receive SMS text messages.

Although they can perform in the same way (in general), these are two different e-mail applications. SMS is provided by the cellular network as part of a plan to "Talk and text" when activating a cell phone... which means that you can text to mobile phone of someone without having to buy a data plan. However, if the texts are sent to international mobile numbers, there is usually a load for her.

BBM on the other hand, you need a data plan to use the service. The advantage is it is much safer than a SMS and there is no additional charge to send a BBM from across the world.

  • PPID different BBM for the same user

Hello! I found that my app is having a weird behavior when I get the ppid of the user. I try to use the ppid as a key into a table of users in a database for my application, and I noticed that I have two different ppid, even thoug I am the only one using my app (it is still in development).

What I find weird is that I have 2 versions of my application, I can dounload the store (it is in draft mode) and one I directly load on my camera on my development machine. These 2 apps get the ppid 2 different to the same user BBM.

PPID does has something to do with my application being downloaded from the store or loaded directly? Has anyone dealt a similar problem?

    Thanks in advance!

    Reedd.

What is expected.  PPID is unique user ID of BBM in the context of the application, which means same user PPID will be different for each application stored on the device.

The identifiers used to register with BBM are different depending on whether you load the application or install the application for the BlackBerry World.  When you side load application name UUID / provider are used.  When you install BlackBerry World the application ID and SKUS are used.  This will give you two groups of users (two sets of PPID), one for testing and one for production.

Also, if you change an item as your UUID or SKU you will also cause a new PPID to create.

  • BBM BBM needs to improve the features BBM for BB users.

As my username says, I'm a diehard blackberry user.  While everyone has jumped ship to android, I stayed.  I loved my curve and when she started to speak in tongues (ie. type gibberish, open and close programs on its own, flip between screens) rather than switch to nokia because my rogers plan covered I paitiently waiting for the white Q10.  I still love my Q10.  I feel that BlackBerry makes excellent products that are functional and durable.  However, my problem with Blackberry is in the way they treat loyal customers.

While all my friends got Galaxy phones... I stayed with my Q10.  When the BlackBerry has launched the bbm4all campaign... I urge all my friends to do despite initial glitches... and now I'm frustrated.  Despite being faithful and have a BB, do my part to help local businesses... I get ads and I am unable to use timed messages or retraction of message, I am unable to create a personalized PIN.  I get constant reminders to the BBM rate, but my opinion on BBM worsens when I get a an announcement from the company in the form of an invitation BBM.

Despite having a BB and be a loyal user of BB from research in the days of movement... Why do I pay every month to access features such as message retraction which, until the OS update, I got for free?

I am a student, I don't use BB for his safety, I use my phone to take pictures send SMS, BBMing, check the weather and occasional magic: Realms... I love my Q10 for the physical keyboard and a sleek design... but why blackberry treat BB users and users non - BB as equal?  Apart from the physical keyboard and security, which makes special BB?  BBM was a huge sale for me, when they open to all BB got less than special, but I thought that they would keep him the BBM BBs usage as an improved for the BBM version released for apple and android.  I assumed that this is when I noticed that the video chat was only for conversations from BB to BB.  Although this feature is nice, it is not terribly useful when 80% of your BBM contacts have no BBs.

I got frustrated when I type wrong message to someone and I can't retract without having to pay a monthly fee.  I've been frustrated when I get ads when I use the BBM instead of Hub app.  I understand that BB is a society and that this money is the priority but why can they not take care of their own?

My suggestion for Blackberry is to give the BBM BB users with improved features.  Yes, the video call feature is nice, but it isn't terribly important for me.

For non - usersm BlackBerry BB should do the following:

    • Slightly higher load ^ monthly fee for subscriptions for timed messages/photos
    • Slightly higher monthly fees for subscriptions for retraction of message
    • Require a slightly higher monthly fee for custom pins
    • Slightly higher monthly fees for the removal of ads

BlackBerry should do the following, as a thank you to those who is loyal as me...

    • Delete subscriptions in the next version of BBM
    • Allow unlimited timed messages and timed free photos
    • Allow the free unlimited message retraction
    • Make pine customized a tax only once
    • Remove ads for free in the next version of BBM

Due to the ratio of BB users for users non - BB, I think Blackberry skimp on about $24annually * / user BB would be worth when trading for an increase of the customer satisfaction.

Loyalists slept with Blackberry through everything and I think that the company sometimes forget that without BB users there would not have been a business today.  I think Blackberry users BB treatment does not reflect the dedication that we showed the company and I don't think what is right.  Please like this post if you agree.

    Thank you for your time,

    Haley

↑ $1.29, according to a poll of users non - BB in my BBM surveys list was considered a fair price

    * based on privacy and without ads monthly subscription price of $0.99

  • BBM BBM for Playstaion surveys 4?

    Just a thought. I play a lot of PS4, and I mean a LOT.

It is somewhat an untapped market, as long as the cat replacement customers go (just the chat)

One of the biggest obstacles I convince people to download an ANOTHER chat client just to chat

with a loyal BB is because they already have so much of (for example. Snapchat WhatsApp, iMessage).

If BBM was brought to PS4 where there is no other competition and it was smooth with the built in PS4 cat, I think it could be a big hit!  PlayStation 4 is already integrated with Facebook/Twitter.

There is a base of dedicated users of 20 million more, and with the possibility to directly broadcast on Ustream/Twitch, it might cause a bit of a buzz out there.  From January 2015, 100 million people watch shaking each month. Think about it!

Anyway, just a thought.  I wish I could see my BBM in watching Netflix popups, or playing GTA V or battlefield.

Thanks for your comments @im4k! It would be pretty cool sharing via BBM, where the game

  • BlackBerry Z10 video BBM for unlimited plans, AT & T

I'm sure that this topic is here somewhere, but I can't seem to find it. (Please direct me there, if so)

So, it doesn't seem to be consensus on who this works for and who is not as shown here:

    http://forums.CrackBerry.com/BlackBerry-Z10-F254/t-blocking-BBM-video-voice-over-mobile-networks-905...

But here's my question. I have an unlimited plan excluded on AT & T.  But I can not activate video calls through BBM surveys. It works fine on WiFi but not on the network. If I try, I get a message that reads "contact AT & T to activate. And, on the settings tab in BBM, the cursor "Allow calls from BBM on Mobile Networks" is grey.

Thus, after contacting AT & T, they told me similar things to what is mentioned in the announcement of Crackberry - that I have a tiered plan or shared use Videotelephony.  My questions are the following:

-is that someone here with an unlimited plan from AT & T be able to use video calls when not on WiFi?

-does anyone know IF you use file manager or something sideloaded it you to get around the restriction?

-are there someone who has an unlimited plan with AT & T AND has updated for Mac OS 10.2 with Knowyou or something, which is able to use the BBM video on the network? (EDIT: changed 10.3 to 10.2)

Well, well, well. Just as I was trying to tell the idiots with AT & T technical support I talked with, before the problem was with them all along - not with my plan.

So, if someone follows this and wants to update...

    Short version:

If you have an unlimited plan AT & T LTE for your BlackBerry, you can ABSOLUTELY activate BBM video. I do now. If AT & T tech tells you different, they're wrong.

    Full article:

I have an unlimited plan, my wife has a tiered data plan. Video BBM worked well on both our WiFi phones, his BBM video would work on network, but mine wouldn't.

I started in my retail store, and the guy who usually helps me didn't know what I was doing wrong. So, we called technical support. AT & T first told me they didn't know why it wasn't, given to me to try different things, power off / on, without success.  So they sent me to the BlackBerry support.  After a few long conversations, which essentially ended with "Yes, this is not our problem, which is AT & T business."

So, I called AT & T tech support again. They told me on the phone that I can't use this feature with unlimited and should be changed to a share of mobile or tiered data plan. I said, 'nope' and decided to cool it down and try again later.  So, then, I had an online chat with a representative of the AT & T technical support who told me the same thing. She said that the BBM video wouldn't work on unlimited and I needed to change. I told her firmly that I change my plan and my initial agreement for the unlimited understand not having the features are disabled. She told me that AT & T had the right to control their network, but that they wanted. (nice) So, I finished this cat.

After doing some web browsing, to post here and other forums, with all sorts of mixed responses, I came across this article by the yard by Adi Robertson http://www.theverge.com/2013/5/20/4348672/att-will-allow-all-video-chat-apps-on-its-network-by-end-o...

On a whim, I sent him, and he wrote, "Yes, uh not.» AT & T has not activated it for BlackBerry on unlimited plans. "She contacted back, then contacted his connection to AT & t. yesterday, I heard from someone at the Office AT & T President, whatever it is. Fast forward... your da! Suddenly, a technical support could enable this feature after all.

I still have my unlimited plan and video BBM works simply great.

Now, if only I could get AT & T for Mac OS 10.2 version...

  • The font size of BBM for the BBM Messages on iPhone

My friend has an iPhone 4 with the latest OS updates and the latest version of BBM, but he complains about the size of the small police messages I send to him. Apparently there is no way for him to set the font size. Is someone knows if it is a shortcoming of BBM, or is it a problem to Apple. This can treat an update to BBM? Thanks for any information you can give me.

What also happens is that BBM has of a default font and size.

  • BlackBerry smartphones, I'm completely lost with this new BBM ' for everything! (via BB9900)

Well, I'm sorry for the confusion on my part.

It really seems that this craze "each with an iPhone can now use BBM" all came from absolutely nowhere.

If anyone can help with this scenario:

I use BB990, the ORDINARY mail service, NO BBM surveys. My friend, Rob, using an iPhone, but decide BBM of envy that he on his iPhone. He neglected to tell me that it is and begins to use it. I don't have their PIN - OH DEAR - whatever that means for me?

So I guess you're referring to text messages or SMS services.

Yes... It will be able to text you. BBM is an Instant messaging application that is now available for users of iphone and android, if a friend you installed and use BBM on devices out there and you don't have these data plan that allow BBM on your BlackBerry only BBM will be affected, but not the other messaging services, it may be whatsapp, viber etc.
