  No it's not possible to do this work of router as a network bridge by using the Linksys firmware on it. Maybe you can try the firmware of 3rd party like DD - WRT, who have the opportunity to make the router as a network gateway.  But make sure that during the download of the DD - WRT one firmware on your router, you follow the proper procedure, otherwise it will damage your router.

  Download the latest firmware from the site Web of Linksys and save it to your computer.

  I use a router BEFW11S4 v.2 with a WEP password, I read recently that by using a WEP slows down the maximum transfer rate and that I should use a WPA2. I looked everywhere in my set up and do not see how to change this.  I've seen in a post, go to the wireless tab and use the security subtab, I have it all under the wireless tab's SubTabs.

  Your router supports only WEP. You can see the WEP option in the Configuration tab.

  I am a new user on this forum.  I've seen a lot of useful information here, so I KNOW that someone has the answer to my problem.

  The power light on my trusty BEFW11S4 v4 flashes and nothing I tried to solve the problem has worked.  I downloaded the latest firmware (1.52.03) but I can't go to the router configuration page.  So says the site Web of LinkSys, you can go in the back door by using their routine tftp.exe.  It is, whenever I try to download I get an error message "Unable to connect" Windows.

  Anyone know where I can download the correct tftp.exe file for my unit so I can try to update the firmware?

I have not saved all the installation disc for the BEFW11S4, but what I read here that they might not be necessary. Can someone please clarify if I need installation software or not?   I have a router BEFW11S4 (Version 4).  Because I have received no response here on my problems with the card Intel WIFI Link 5100 AGN, I plan to migrate to the WRT54G (at least, I'm * fairly * assure that this is the model I) because I was told by someone else who has a similar setup to mine THE router worked correctly with the adapter.

  My question: migration of the 'old' to the 'new' router router, are there specific problems that should I worry about the?

  Just to let everyone know.

  I found that I was able to set the security on the router WRT54G wireless settings

  WPA2 Personal AND then I put the ThinkVantage Access Connections to WPA2 and everything

  seems to work very well (I'm typing this while on the wireless).

  I'm assuming that the dial-up Connections supports WPA2 on Windows XP even though I

  do not upgrade to SP3, nor have I sought the "patch" WPA2 Windows.

  At this point, I want to thank everyone for their help and comments.

  Control the laptop (connected via an Ethernet cable): ThinkPad R52 running Windows XP SP2

  Security settings for the router:

  Disabled SSID broadcast

  WPA2 with AES for password security

  MAC address filtering.

  Portable receiver:

  ThinkPad W500 Windows XP SP2

  Using Access Connections Version 5.20 (latest version) set to use WPA2 and AES for the password

• Tips to add a VPN router to my current network configuration

  My apologies if the answer to this question already exists, however, I searched in many situations and none seem to match what I'm after.

  I currently have an ISP modem/router in Bridge mode connected to a TC of Apple which is my wireless router, I have 2 Express airport connected to this acting as the extensors of the range.  I have a VPN service through the MyPrivate network I activate on the desired device when required and everything works fine.

  What I want to do now is to be able to use my AppleTV and burning Amazon via the VPN as well so you need to add a VPN router in the configuration.  I want to finish with 2 wireless networks running together for these devices who need VPN and those who are not.  I don't want to lose the opportunity to extend the network to express it however airport.

  If someone could explain to me if this is possible and if so how do I set up the network.

  Basically you would need a device that supports VPN-passthrough and VLANS for your goals of networking. MyPrivate network, seems to be a VPN SSL, which is a user-server configuration. In other words, you install a client VPN on your Mac and you connect to the VPN network MyPrivate server to establish a VPN tunnel.

  Networking two or more "separated", should be using a router that supports VLAN services. Each segment of VIRTUAL local area network, in essence, would be a separate, she either wired or wireless network or a combination of both. This would probably be the 'easiest' part for the installation program.

  Now how combining the two would be the question, and I don't know what would be the best way, or even if it is possible.

  A few thoughts:

  • Use a router that supports VLANS. Create at least two VIRTUAL LAN segments. One for Apple TV & Burns, one for Internet access in general. Connect the device to VPN client host on the first segment, and configure for Internet sharing.
  • Download a dedicated VPN network application that supports hosting of third-party VPN clients, like yours. You would still need a router that supports VLAN to provided separate network segments.
  • Hire a consultant network. Let them know what you the goals of networking and ask them to offer potential solutions.

• Impossible to manually configure the wireless settings.

  I have an Apple Time Capsule of 7.7.7 version and no matter what I do I can't seem to accept my manual settings wireless.  My building a House requires several APs to provide adequate coverage, and time Capsule keeps selecting wireless channels that are in conflict with other access points in the House.  Does anyone know of a work around that will allow me to force the desired channels? I use a Windows PC 10 with Airport Utility for Windows version 5.6.1 configure time Capsule. Here are the steps I followed:

  -Select the "Time Capsule" on the left side

  -Click on the "Manual Configuration" button at the bottom

  -Select the tab "wireless".

  -Radio mode - menu drop down select "802. 11A / n - 802. "11b / g ' (very intentional)

  -Radio channel selection - I select in the drop-down "manual."

  -Select 'change... '. "and choose"36"for the 5 GHz channel and '1' for channel 2.4 GHz, then 'Ok '.

  -Select "Update."

  After restarting the device, I check the settings and I find...

  -Radio mode is back 'automatic '.

  -Selection of the radio channel is 'Automatic' and channels do not necessarily match what I selected initially.

  Someone at - it advice?

  The main problem is that the version of the AirPort for Windows utility is not designed to work with 802.11ac airport base stations. Unfortunately, Apple has not updated this utility since Windows 7.

  The other problem is that Apple has "dumb - which crashed" AirPort Utility for Macs and the iOS devices with version 6.x. One of the things that he removed has the possibility to define patterns of radio and channels that "stick" to the 802.11ac base stations.

  BUT: when I go to the tab "Automation" in the app iPad Home, all I get is a page telling me that I should get an Apple TV to put in place of the automated activities - there is no way to actually DO something.  Am I missing something obvious?  I do this also?  Don't forget that I can control the lights in the House on the iPad, so they certainly know each other...  Thank you!
