Beginner tips

I am a creator of professional jewelry with 30 000 + images in a tree of files on a PC based DiskStation.  The file tree is complex but I still have a hard time finding specific images or groups of images.  And I have a copy of each image in the tree.  I am very reluctant to create several copies filed in different locations, even if it would make it easier to find a particular image.

It is time for a program that allows me to assign a print, keeps track of metadata etc.  I have a copy of the Photo Shop Express 3 and 9 of Lightroom.  PSE3 has all the capabilities I need photo editing.  I found Lightroom complex and ever started using it.

My jewelry images are all taken with a digital SLR.  My personal images are all taken with an iPhone (actually 2 iPhones)

Finally, I wish I could use my iPad as a showroom tool to show customers well-organized albums but also be able to find a specific picture in my collection.

Now my jewelry design is made in Canadian dollars and I seriously overdosed in technology.

It's time for a better management, but it must be as simple and reliable as possible.

I stay with a copy of the last PES stand-alone and use the organization there?

Can I get the latest advances only Lightroom?

Can I go with a subscription of cloud creative to simplify the integration of PC/iPad/iPhone... and is it simple?

The change is definitely my second priority.  Like I said 3 PSE has been sufficient.  If I solved the game edition with one of the choices, what should I do to change it.

Cut to the chase and use Lr. I wouldn't bother with elements. LR is intended for an organization like yours task. And Lr Mobile might work very well for stuff to showcase on the iPad.

Basically, you would use keywords instead of a folder structure to find pictures. You would hold the records, but they become rather superfluous. Keywords, especially with hierarchies, eliminate the problem of deciding where to put things. An image can be in a single file, so using a folder say "diamonds" means that you can not put in "emeralds." But you can have both "emeralds" and "diamonds" as keywords on the same image.

  • A few questions about his, BIOS and drivers on Satellite P100

    Hello

Just bought the Satellite P100-188, thought I'd go with a top brand machine, however, on commissioning I am a little concerned about the quality of the speakers who tend to sizzle and distort. If right or wrong I thought that Harman Kardon would deliver the goods. I tried the reset options in the Panel, but being a novice when it comes to search in the "engine room", I'm worried I have settle something important or worse clear settings. Can someone advise.

NVidia also uncertain whether to update the drivers if early machine bought this week, I notice an update of the driver is available, the driver that is currently installed is version 8.3.2.0.

Can anyone tell if the BIOS updates are also needed, once again an update 2.10 is shown available but with a WARNING of WTH UPDATE message. This sort of thing is far beyond my understanding of computers, so I would be grateful for anyone offering a perfect beginner tips.

    Hello

The quality of the sound on the speakers depends on the design of laptops and laptop performance. As far as I know the speaker are a bit smaller than on multimedia laptops.
If you want to change some of its settings Iwould recommend to go into the control panel and you should find the Manager Realtek HD sound effects. Here it is possible to change an option in the demo audio 3d.

You also asked for a graphics card driver. You know that driver graphic Toshiba are not similar to the nVidia drivers. In addition the original nVidia drivers are not designed for the use of the laptop but for desktop PC.

The update of the BIOS is not a simple thing. If you use bad BIOS or update procedure wrong so it is possible that you may damage the motherboard. So if the BIOS update is not necessary, you shouldn't t do.

    Hey all!

I started to contribute to communities of support today, but the interface may seem a little tricky to work with sometimes. I was hoping that some useful people would be willing to share tips/advice for someone new in the region!

Currently, I am just by clicking on the 'Content' link and refreshing for the new questions to answer, although sometimes sorted by "involved" to follow up on the questions answered. Really hoping to find some easier ways to use to check on different communities or focus on specializations.

  • Fusion/Windows 7 tips & questions for a beginner

Hey guys (and girls) I've been a linux user especially lately so I more or less missed the boat on windows 7 but I'm looking to load on my MBP, but I have a few newbie questions if can help people.  I tried to do a search, but I think that my terminology or the lack of good conditions got in my way.

Some background information, I use a unibody MBP with 4 GB of ram 5.1 which has Snow Leopard and VMware fusion 3.01.

I am interested in what would work well with the merger of two ways, bootcamp vs install a vmdk and 64-bit vs 32-bit...

First of all is it an advantage to running vmware fusion with bootcamp, IE merge use the bootcamp partition?  What I see better performance if I instead of use the bootcamp created a virtual machine (vmdk) within the merger?

Second question is about 32-bit vs 64-bit. I'm under 4gig of RAM which I will devote only 2gig in vmware. Is it interesting (stability, or performance) to the use of 64-bit within the fusion flavor (vm installed not bootcamp) or I'll be better with 32-bit installation?

If I'm melting point using the bootcamp partition, is third question - interesting to settle current with the 64-bit or 32-bit.  It's merger would provide more performance with the bootcamp windows 7 32 bit, and vice versa (or it does not matter)

Fourth question, seems, the fusion installs things when you use the bootcamp partition and I guess I'll need to install the tools as well.  That will cause problems, or headaches when I boot physically in training camp, that is, drivers of devices for non-existent devices. What video, nvidia 9600 m in bootcamp vs virtual gpu fusion provides.  I can't wait to see problems when I turned off and restart under bootcamp.

Last question, I will visit the hell of activation if the bootcamp partition uses two cores, but I just dedicate a molten core when you point the merger to use the bootcamp partition. I don't want to always have to re - activate win7 because when I boot in bootcamp, he sees two hearts but merger only when.

    Thanks in advance

    Mike

take a deep breath... OK... =)

Firstly there is an advantage to running vmware fusion with bootcamp

You get better performance out of hard in this instance. With the help of a physical disk is not the OS X volume would be better than BootCamp, but of course only applicable on a Mac Pro. Rationale: with multiple partitions, the needle on the hard disk has a long way to the second partition, back and forth all the time between Windows and Mac does travel. A hard, as a general rule, would include a contiguous space due to the Mac file system optimizing the layer of block on the fly.

The advantage of using BootCamp is if you need to take advantage of the full potential of the Mac hardware in a dedicated Windows environment. Such use might be to, say, play games of high quality, latest (Call of Duty, anyone?), at higher resolutions / great detail. Ditto for just about any application for Windows which needs a beefy video system (OpenGL rendering, CAD, stuff like that)

Is it interesting (stability, or performance) to the use of 64-bit within the fusion flavor (vm installed not bootcamp) or I'll be better with 32-bit installation?

I would say that no, there is no significant advantage to the use of 64 vs 32 bit in a virtual machine. Stick to 32, it is more compatible with the software and any equipment that you choose to give to Windows (driver for 64-bit stuff support is usually OK, but there is no compelling reason to do it in a virtual machine)

If I'm melting point using the bootcamp partition, is third question - interesting to settle current with the 64-bit or 32-bit.

Windows 7 is not supported by BootCamp by Apple, so probably 64 bit will not be 100% working drivers.

Fourth question, seems, the fusion installs things when you use the bootcamp partition and I guess I'll need to install the tools as well.

We install tools (drivers and additional software), as well as some tips for handling activation. So we keep some of the files that Windows uses to verify that it has been activated, but due to the change in material Windows must activate two times. Record us each activation, detect when Windows runs in our VM and present key information and activating appropriate to the operating system (to keep him from having to activate every time you pass ="

What video, nvidia 9600 m in bootcamp vs virtual gpu fusion provides. I can't wait to see problems when I turned off and restart under bootcamp.

I did not talk about all issues related to the video does not when it is started normally. Windows detects that hardware is present at startup, check if it uses drivers and goes from there.

Last question, I will visit the hell of activation if the bootcamp partition uses two cores, but I just dedicate a molten core when you point the merger to use the bootcamp partition

N ° again, we keep the profile "enabled" and save it.  When the BONE is introduced in the merger, we use our activation profile.  When you started in native mode, it uses that have never appeared by activating in Bootcamp.

The direct answer to 'can I use bootcamp or hard' would be: depends on what you want to do with the virtual machine.  If it's general things, you're good... If you're a gamer or CAD designer, BootCamp is a good option.  =)

  • Power tips for beginner Manager

    Hello

First, forgive my English. It is not my first language.

I am new to this forum and new in the world of Thinkpad. I went from Apple, and while I am fully satisfied with my Thinkpad L430, I'm a little overwhelmed by all these settings I can shape. Today I am learning to use Power Manager with skill, and I'm a bit confused.

I found this page, but the link of Power Manager does not work. I also found this post on Lifehacker with some advice and I read that some people set Power Manager to charge the battery at 80-90% and leave discharge up to 50-60% before it begins to charge the battery again.

Now, the those thresholds are the right ones? Because I found only little details here and there, I don't know if I'm missing something important.

    Thank you very much.

Also try the site: forum.thinkpads.com for more information and discussions on the function of power manager. I put my battery in minimum load thresholds to 96% max (load stop) and 86% (to start the load) users say this avoids more load too "overflow" of the battery when the device is connected. This scheme works well on my ThinkPad W500 and my two shares of ThinkPad T60. My machines are almost always plugged, but I unplug and let flow the long battery one or twice a year to 'cycle' them.

Enjoy your ThinkPad and happy new year!

  • ESXi beginner - advice and tips...

Hi, I'm after a little advice from some of you, the "experts."

I'm a bit stuck in a mine of information on VMware and is a little difficult to choose the relevant parts so I thought I would ask from reading this forum, he seems to have a lot of very useful people.

I'll start by giving you an overview of my hardware config.

    ML115 G1

    8 GB RAM

Adaptec 3405 controller (on the HCL)

    Dual Pro1000 MT server adapter

    (4 x) 1 TB SATA drives

The reason why I had the 3405 had to work around these "problems" with the integrated SATA MP55 controller more this controller has some significant performance issues so I decided to all 'bin' instead of trying all these works around modifying the files in config etc...

This is not a "production" server, there is a facility to provide me with (a) an off-production VM environment I can experiment and learn from and (b) to enjoy maximum material resources I (at home) that is not buying more physical hardware.

    OK, on my first question.

'You' how to install the disk storage / in this system?

So far, I can see a few alternatives.

First, I tried the extract and restore 'VMware-VMvisor-big - 3.5.0_Update_3 - 123629.i386.dd' on a USB and use it as the method of boot device.

This works very well and gets to the top server and run, but I have problems with the maximum size of 2 TB LUN. I read a few threads on this subject and it seems that VMware suffers from the windows of same size starting device limitations. VMware sees everything in table 2.7 Tb (if I use all 4 disks in a RAID5 configuration), I can only create a data store in the first 744,9 GB and the rest of the space is not available (I think that this is due to VMware 2 TB subtracting from what he can see, and only available to the remaining amount).

I also imagine that another way to get around this is to split the LUN in 2 tables (for purposes of demonstration, let's say a 750 GB and a to 1.98) that although I have not tested this so far, I imagine that it could bypass the above the size of the problem.

And then it dawned on me that I could simply create a third table from 1 to 2 GB to 'install' ESXi in and thus save using the USB stick (again, not yet tested).

And that's when it dawned on me that it would be prudent to check what are the opinions of people who really know VMware regarding how they configure the disks in this system. I also always found I learn better by reading/listening how 'experts' in a particular approach a problem and then I can see/understand their logic of how they arrived at this conclusion in the end.

So, how do you set up these discs?

With or without boot USB device?

    tables 1, 2 or 3?

And thanks in advance for any help/pointers.

    Kind regards

    Jamie

RAID 5 is generally considered a bad idea because of performance issues.

I disagree, it would be of Netapp.  In fact, they use RAID 4 on their SAN (because the parity is on one or two discs by matrix instead of the whole band, alleviating hits on all drives).

We missed cues and the biggest difference is the cache to the RAID card and the number of readers, 4 disks is cut close, 6 would be better and 8 even better, but performance isn't bad for RAID 5.

RAID 10 is maybe better, but losing half of the disks, how good can it be?  Not worth the cost of disk space.

Sorry for the basic question, but I would like to know the advantage of robohelp, say that dreamweaver, for the creation of an online help site.

    Second question:

Can robohelp create a stand-alone help utility that can be installed on a local computer or be emailed? If so, this would open in Internet Explorer? Would need expertise in programming for this?

Yes, eBooks are created with RoboHelp HTML to create content such as WebHelp. It is then fed into some eBook software that I purchased separately. EBook software compiles pages WebHelp in the EXE, affects the security and other options.

  • advice of script for a beginner please

I am a beginner, trying to enter VMware (winding maze lost in corridors...)

With vSphere Client I can manually create virtual machines on our 5 ESXi host, producing an OVA of our product for distribution file.
I am obliged to describe the process.

Can I set up and configure virtual machines using only the ESXi console?

VCLI (free download) allows Windows to create virtual machines on an ESXi host?

Outline of what needs of script:

    • create a VM (this is the only bit that I was able to do it, using the console for ESXi)
    • install CentOS Linux using anaconda with kickstart script
    • Configure the virtual machine and the export

Advice, tips or pointers to get this done will be very appreciated!

    Thank you very much

    Alan

A few answers to your questions

    1. you will need to get an ISO of the CD of CentOS and store it somewhere on a data store.

Once this is done, you can use the cmdlet Set-CDDrive with the IsoPath parameter.

    2. use the cmdlet New-VM , something like that.

You get the default value of the bu NIC, just specify what portgroup to connect to

    $vm = New - VM - name MyVM - ID centosGuest - NumCpu 1 - MemoryMB (1 GB / 1 MB)-DiskMb (60 GB / 1 MB)-NetworkName MyPG

3 see forces a VM to access BIOS screen on the next reboot

    4. use the Start-VM cmdlet

    Start-VM - $vm VM - confirm: $false

5 once again with the cmdlet Set-CDDrive , but the use of the HostDevice parameter

6 see specify bootable for a virtual machine devices

    7. do not apply. You change the boot order before starting the virtual machine

    8. who could perhaps be done with the Invoke-VMScript cmdlet and the bash ScriptType parameter. But I have not tested with CentOS.

    9. it's a little tricky. The external vSphere unclear when a program inside a guest what OS is finished. There are ways to send some kind of semaphores, see, for example, waiting for the customization of the OS to complete

    10. There are a lot of the cmdlet Set-availabe, i.e. Whole-VM, Set-NetworkAdapter...

As a guideine, you should always try to translate your literally to scripts for automation of manual procedures. Sometimes, you should first rethink your account automation procedure.

  • coldfusion for a beginner book suggestions

Can someone please suggest some good references on ColdFusion for a person who came from a background of C/C++ development? I don't do any kind of work in Flash (Flex only) at the present time.

My library has the books below

    ColdFusion_MX_Bible 2003 edition

ColdFusion 9 Web Application Construction Kit Volume 1 mai.2010

    Programming ColdFusion MX 2nd ed (O'Reilly, 2003)

Macromedia Dreamweaver 8 with ColdFusion ASP and PHP training from the Source

    Hack Proofing ColdFusion

Foundation Flex for developers - oriented Applications with PHP, ASP.NET, ColdFusion and LCDs

Or, is there another book I should read, too, for which I need to apply for my library.

I know that all of them are useful, but if I have time to read only one that one should choose who would be familiar with most of the linguistic nuances.  The 2003 edition of the Bible of ColdFusion would cover most of the regions? I recognize the most recent reference would be the documentation from Adobe.

I know that learning a language there are books beginner, intermediate, advanced, reference and necessary (as for the C is the book by Kernighan and Ritchie and C++ is Stroustrup) books.

This is so that I can read all the books when I had the chance.

A quick Google image search offers some tips http://www.forta.com/books/coldfusion/ and http://www.bigwebmaster.com/ColdFusion/Books/ as well as http://www.amazon.com/ColdFusion-Books-for-Beginners/lm/355FVU99NWLV8

But any suggestions or advice of this group would be appreciated.

    Thank you

I did open one since the CFMX7 edition, but I think that by Forta et al CFWACK books are considered to be the best of breed of the CF to printed books.

That said, I've always had more of these books online documentation.  But I would still be working rather things myself just to be guided by someone else as to how they approach a task.

Another consideration is that I do not think that CF has complexity index that C++ has, so I don't think that there is a need 'base', 'intermediate' and 'Advanced' books for CF.  The different volumes of the CFWACK are not really an increase in complexity, but just to start with the absolutely necessary building blocks, penetrating the less necessary bits and then more esoteric feature.  But I do not think that these divisions are really made based on complexity.

And as with any other language, it is good to keep an eye on the community and what people are doing.  I learned a lot just trying to answer popular questions here, for the reasoning; but there are a lot of CF bloggers out there who publish a lot of interesting material.

  • Some tips on the darkening background notifications iOS 10?

I have a very dark (almost black) locking screen on iOS 10 and I find it difficult to read notifications. They tend to be white text on a dark background, making it easy for my old eyes to read. Now, this is gray text on a gray background, and I have to squint and really pay attention.

I tried to reverse the colors in the "Accessibility" settings, but of course, this makes the whole of the system a little bit difficult to use and it is a little extreme just to read notifications. I tried the growing size of contrast and the police with no real help. I tried the background of different color, but the color of the text is unchanged and it is so fundamentally too light for me to read.

Someone at - it of other tips to increase the contrast between the text and the background of notifications?

  • How "tipping fees" works for the service paid by COD?

I try to order a lightning cable using my AppleCare + alternative coverage, but I'm curious to know how "tipping fees" operation since I would like to pay with COD. The site says that there are "additional leave" ¥ 1944, i.e. "fees of no return" ¥ 1800 and tax.

I was thinking about two possible ways to grant additional leave.

    1. Mail collect "additional leave" as a deposit, and then once Apple receives the damaged cable, Apple pays the "additional leave" by mail
    2. Mail gives me just the cable and if Apple does not receive the damaged cable, then Apple send me a bill for the costs of no return by post
