benefits of using VMware integrated SD card

I intend to buy Dell R710 and there is an option to buy it as integrated VMware:

VMware ESXi v5.0, 2CPU, Embedded, Basic, one year, SD 0 subscription

I do not have a storage shared for virtual machines are stored locally on the Dell R710 himself on his RAID-1.

I have the following license - VMware vSphere 5 Essentials Kit for 3 guests (Max 2 processors per host) and 192 GB vRAM right + subscription for 1 year.

Based on the info, what are the advantages and disadvantages to go with the VMware built-in SD card?

Because I don't have a shared storage, if the SD card goes wrong, I'd lose the virtual machines on the local storage?  The SD card is not redundant but

If I install ESXi on RAID-1, it'll be redundant...

Since you will not have a shared storage if the SD card goes bad your machines will go down until you replace the SD card I believe and reconfigure the server back, but you will not lose the VMFS on your local storage space... But if you want to use local storage, why not save money from the SD card and install ESXi on local disks and have redundant? I leave the SD card for shared storage configurations, but that's just my opinion...

I bought this PC four years ago (just the version, not CS as in the link):

The integrated graphics went broken today. Research on the spec Web site I noticed that the Intel's integrated graphics. I won't buy another video card, if there is a graphics processor integrated into the processor.

Indeed, there are two additional DVI ports; However, they are sealed with a sign "DO NOT REMOVE", and each port is sealed with two screws with a strange format (star with six faces?).

Why these DVI ports are sealed? Why with this format live strange? I hope that's not for licensing reasons, and that I'm still able to use them as DVI ports...

    Thank you.

    Hello:

I don't think it is sealed for any other reason than from your PC with a video of the add-on card, they would not people plugging in these ports DVI cables and by calling HP support complaining that the video does not work (because an add on card disables the integrated graphics card).

Remove your discrete PCIe x 16 graphics card, so the built-in graphics card is enabled, put your hand on the good size torx screwdriver and remove the cover, so you can use the integrated graphics card adapter.

  • Skyrim - using the integrated graphics card

My Dell has a built-in Intel and a dedicated Radeon card. For the high range, such as Skyrim 3D games, I obviously prefer to use AMD, but the game is auto detection of the onboard. I've tried everything. I tried all ini files and that you can find no reference to intel or AMD, display or whatever it is. I have manually disabled the card intel in Device Manager, but then the game comes with intel base made graphic, I went into the bios to try and the value of the main graphics card to AMD, but I can't find it anywhere in the bios (which has very very few options) I also used the AMD Control Panel to set the game to run using maximum performance , but continues to use the map intel. Any advice would be appreciated, thanks Matthew

You cannot set the AMD GPU as primary - it is not connected directly to the screen.  Only the GPU from Intel is directly connected - the AMD GPU is NOT a dedicated GPU.  It's a video coprocessor - all passes of video data by the Intel GPU on its way to the screen, even if it has been processed by the AMD GPU.

If you selected the AMD GPU for the game by using the catalyst control center, that's all that is needed. No matter where you look under Windows, you will always see the Intel GPU as active.  It is a system controlled by software - controlled material no.

  • Call of duty Black Ops Zombies 2, using the wrong graphics card

Hello, I recently contacted Activision about the mode of call of duty Black Ops Zombies 2 very agitated and jumpy, like what you would get if you've played online with someone across the world, like really bad lag offline server, now I can play the campaign and multiplayer on the highest graphics settings and have no problem at all just the Zombies mode, even in offline mode. People at Activision back to me and said it could be because the Zombies is using the integrated graphics card Intel CPU and not discrete AMD card, and they said I should contact HP to see if if there is a way to activate manually in Control Panel. I'll link the Forum on Activision's post to read what said the people.
    https://support.Activision.com/Atvi_my_support_case_details?ID=500U0000005nbrlIAA&RMA=0

If it does not work the link, then let me know and I will copy them here for you to see, if you think you need.

    Hi Goochster,

I tried the link you provided, but it is inaccessible, unless we have a forum of Activision account.

Normally, all you have to do is right click on an empty spot on the desktop and select Configure switchable graphics.

Select it gpu performance and click apply. That should leave the AMD GPU default graphics package.

Put a check mark in the box for the "saving GPU on battery switch' your laptop will not consume so much battery capacity.

  • Zbook Studio G3 HP: How to disable the integrated graphics card Intel and use the dedicated Nvidea graphics all the time?

    Dear all,

I have a HP zbook studio G3 laptop. I want to go to the Nvidia graphics card permanently.  I tried to disable graphics integrated in the Device Manager, uninstall the driver and allowing even the nvidea card chart of all profiles in the parameter 3D tap in the Nvidia configuration software. Non of them seems to work as the integrated graph is always in action and simple games could not be executed. I always keep in the option to high-performance mode, and the laptop is still connected. Should I manipulate the bios setup?

    Thanks in advance,

    Bezzi

I have the version non-studio of Zbook 15 G3 which has removable video card. I added the video card after purchase and found that it worked just right if I went into the BIOS and set it to use only the nVidia card. However, because yours is graphic switchable I don't know that you have this option. Have you looked at even the BIOS? Press ESC you turn on, then F10

    Hello

As already mentioned that my laptop will use only integrated hd 3000 graphics, while I have a 6770 m on board.

I have good drivers for both (or I guess that since there is no warning in Device Manager).

Whenver I try to play a game well, only the built-in graphics card is available and it doenst go while playing, because I get 20 fps on settings lowest playing while I could play most of the games with up to 60 images per second at the top.

Catalyst Control Center also has a problem during installation because my hardware version no is not supported even if auto detection selected download I need.

This is a common problem with computers laptops alienware as much as I found on the web, but they have all nvidia graphics cards.

If it is of no help: I have a HP Pavilion dv6 6b50eb, my hardware id 6770 m is

  • Re: Satelite L750-1MT - cannot see the Intel integrated video card

    Hello

I have Satelite L750-1MT and Win 7/64-bit and I can see the integrated Intel video card in Device Manager, so I can't install the driver for it. The laptop works with dedicated map, but why I can't use built-in one card too?
On the site I found the Intel driver only for Windows 7/32 bit and not 64-bit.
What can I do to use the onboard too?

    Sorry for my English.
    Thank you!

I can see on the Toshiba download page, all drivers for Win7 64 bit are available and display driver for your model mobile, you can find HERE.

According to specification of mobile has your model of laptop NVIDIA graphics card so I put t understand why you need Intel display driver. Am I missing something?

  • Qosmio F50-126: how to activate the integrated graphics card?

    Running Windows 7 on F50 - 126.
After checking my specs on the site Web of toshiba, here are the details on my graphics card: -.

    Manufacturer: NVIDIA;
type: NVIDIA; GeForce; 9700 M GTS supporting TurboCache; technology
memory: 512 MB dedicated VRAM (up to 1 791 MB of total available graphics memory using the TurboCache™ technology with 3 GB of system memory)
memory type: GDDR3 (800 MHz) video RAM (resp. RAM video and system memory combined)
connected bus: PCI Express 16 x

I want to know if I can turn on my integrated graphics card. I know that clicking on powersave suppose to turn off my 9700 m and go to the integrated card, but the laptop did not want it actually disabled.
Like, watching a video or a game of battery the difference between "Powersafe" and "Balance" is not that much.

The computer seems to work at full power.
Because I remember when I had Vista installed, the game and used trolling videoes. But on windows 7 it doesn't. Anyone know how to activate the integrated card?

I have my computer updated completely and everthing... How d I do not know if my card is turned on or off?

    Hi mate

    I'm a bit confused of m.
    Why?
Because you ask about activation and deactivation of the graphics card (integrated).

First of all, there is ONLY a single graphic chip!
    It s a GeForce 9700 M GTS graphics card.

The graphics chip supports the 512 MB GDDR3 own (he dedicated video memory s) and it s is always available!

In addition, the chip supports shared system memory. It depends on the available main memory!

    For example:
    * With the help of Win 32 bit system *.

    System memory: * 2 GB *.
    Dedicated video memory: 512 MB
Shared system memory: 767 MB (using 3 GB of RAM you 1279 MB)
TOTAL available graphics memory: 1279 MB (1791 using 3 GB of RAM)

    System memory: * 4 GB *.
    Dedicated video memory: 512 MB
    Shared system memory: 1279MB
TOTAL available graphics memory: 1791 MB

    * With the help of Win 64 bit system *.

    System memory: * 2 GB *.
    Dedicated video memory: 512 MB
    Shared system memory: 767 MB
    TOTAL available graphics memory: 1279MB

    System memory: * 4 GB *.
    Dedicated video memory: 512 MB
    Shared system memory: 1791
    TOTAL available graphics memory: 2303

As you can see the use of Win 64-bit and 4 GB of RAM would be better for the graphics card as the use of the file Win 32 bit with 4 GB of RAM

I asked the sales representative if there are video cards that can be used in the Express slot, and he said yes. So I figured I could buy it and if I felt like adding a video card, I could put one in there. It turns out that that was not true. And Yes... I know... you can not upgrade the integrated graphic card.

But there are houses (such as pci or other) inside the laptop containing unnecessary components, such as the card reader express, which can be replaced for a video card? I don't want to put the video card in the reader, but set back from the drive and putting in a card in its place.

Believe me, I have no idea. Talking to me as a 'newbie', not as someone who's trying to sound smart. I would appreciate an answer!

The graphics alone 'upgrade' I know is the nVidia MXM platform, I do not think any laptops announced with Intel X 3100 have. It is a type of housing (flowing PCI express bus) which allows a graphics card to be inserted (and later upgraded). In General, if find you a system with a third-party graphics card (in the case of MXM, a nVidia card) it can eventually be upgraded to a better-model nVidia card in the future.

To be honest, I don't think he'll be a lot more that you can do internally to improve the graphics...

EDIT: it seems that ATi also has a similar type of technology called "AXIOM", but I don't think you'd find it at all on the Y510s. Everything I've read about them is associated with nVidia.

"Amd Radeon Hd 8500 m" is the series to which belongs an AMD HD 8570 m.

You can download and run CPU-Z to correctly identify the discrete graphic card installed in your laptop. The Graphics tab as shown in the picture. You can use the Catalyst Control center first select the Radeon HD 8570 m. Switchable graphics on HP laptops

  • Re: Graphics Card Help... flag p6523w and gtx 970 low use of the graphics card

    Hello

I seem to have a problem with an add on the graphics card in my Pavilion p6523w

(Yes, this 12 '' long card fits into the case without problem)

upgrades made so far for this machine:

    Antec 600W PSU

    additional hard drive

    upgrades memory 12 GB (2x2gb original + 2 x 4 GB modules)

AMD Phenom II 1045 6 hearts

    ASUS 144 Hz 27 "monitor

The ATI integrated graphics card is disabled in the bios, and I was running an evga gtx 460 for two years with no problems.

When I "upgraded" to a new gtx Gigabyte 970 OC with 4 GB of vram (not the version of g1, the next one down) I came across a problem

the new video card will not work at full load when running the games.

On tests of reference such as furmark and the reference of the sky, it works fine.

On World of Warcraft and Second Life different viewers, it only works 25% rates of burden and the frame down about 15 fps at 32 fps. (it is slower than the old gtx 460)

Other people with this same card to receive 100 + FPS on graphics settings maxed out in Second Life

This is not a matter of processor bottleneck, because the processor will never more than 60 percent load while it is happening.

I tried different versions of drivers availible for this card.

Whenever I changed drivers, I booted in safe mode and DDU to remove the old drivers before installing a different version.

No change in performance between driver versions.

No change in performance with different graphics settings in games.

No change in performance with different settings in Control Panel NVidia

I'm starting to wonder if there is an incompatibility between this card and the motherboard Bios causing this problem.

Is the newest bios American Megatrends 6.04 version?

Thanks in advance for any help with this.

    Mark S.

There is no problems listed under the dxdiag for my system. Apparently, this card can work with older motherboards.

I just discovered that this issue of throttleing was a fairly frequent problem quite some 970 and 980 based gtx cards and a solution that works for me.

There is a 3rd party outside vbios that changes the limit of use NT 250 watts up to 275 watts of power.

It is the only change from the original version.

Flashing your Vbios may void the warranty on your video card

Another thing to check is the voltage drop as possible on the 12VDC feeding the card.

Some people have experienced this problem and it causes the same symptoms.

This was not the case in my system, but it's one thing to check before resorting to some flashes of the vbios.

If you are planning on flashing the Vbios from your video card, be sure to save a copy of the original Vbios in case you need to restore the map to the stock.

  • How to use Tuner Avermedia TV card

How to get the card Avermedia to work on HP desktop computer and be able to use only one remote control for the sound and change the channel.

Adventures with a new computer HP Pavilion 'All In One' 23Z

OLD PC - a bit of history first. We had an older hp (2008) in an office with a touchscreen. It had Windows Vista and it became more difficult to maintain. This computer came with an integrated TV card and IR receiver IR blaster output port and cable that comes with it. We have Comcast service and have the updated set-top digital. We used Windows Media Center (WMC) to watch TV on the computer. We have configured WMC so he would understand the controls on the Comcast remote and transmit on the IR blaster to the Comcast box. We recorded the outside end of the cable, IR blaster to the front of the Comcast box, directly in front of the eye of the IR receiver. We were able to use the remote control supplied by HP to change channels and adjust the volume and mute. (All orders that we needed to watch TV). WMC has some basic record and play facilities that we rarely used.

NEW PC - we decided to upgrade to a new computer and got the last HP pavilion all in one office. He came originally with windows 8.1 which later, we went to 8.1 pro. Support HP told us we had to 8.1 pro for WMC. WMC on later. We got an Avermedia card with the new all-in - one desktop computer. It worked fine with the Avermedia software. Even if we had to use 2 remotes, one for the Comcast box to change channels and the other for the HP computer change the volume and mute. We got the Avermedia TV version 1.8.1 of player with the card Avermedia H8370 hybrid USB ATSC/QAM. Avermedia TV player is easy to set up.

We got WMC for windows 8.1 pro and hope we could configure it as our old computer to work with a single remote control. We tried to set up WMC, it stopped and would go no further without an IR receiver. Because the new computer came with a remote, we thought it was an IR receiver built in, and so HP. coming to thin out, the remote works in conjunction with the keyboard and mouse, wireless. It does not work when the wireless receiver is disconnected from the USB port. There is no edge receiver IR in the new computer. We were looking online and a USB receiver connection IR has a HP top brand name, which comes with a remote control and IR blaster that should allow him to transmit the signal IR of the Comcast box. (as our old facility) We ordered and installed. It requires no drivers to install with him. We went back configuration WMC and had the 'no IR receiver message' and after several tests on configures the remote (possibly with some success), Comcast finally got a "display driver error, video playback device does not support playback of content protected.", and we could do more. Comcast broadcast signals are encrypted, but not protected. In addition, the Comcast box hangs the Avermedia stick by a coaxial cable, which broadcasts on channel 3. I expect this type of error if we fed the Comcast cable directly into the Avermedia card. In any case, while playing with WMC to get the signals just distance and configurations, I noticed that the Comcast remote would now adjust the volume on the HP computer. He is working through the new IR receiver. We dropped WMC and questions and are now using the Avermedia software with one remote (Comcast). We got an extension IR of Comcast cable that allows the transmission distance of the Comcast box IR signal. We were then able to mount the Comcast box behind the computer screen and to simply stick the IR extension cable receiving end on top of the computer screen. All I can understand is that volume up and down and mute signals must be common to the Comcast remote and HP computer. There was no attempt to reconfigure the remote with all the 'TV' Comcast codes, we are just using the default settings on the Comcast remote.

All the functions work Comcast normally since we use the Comcast remote, controls only that we really need had to adjust the volume and mute on the computer and now it works. The Avermedia software has a few basic functions of recording and we have now all the facilities that we used to have.

All we really needed to buy was the IR receiver to make it work. There is need of distance from HP (we now have 2) and cable IR blaster provided as a package. The IR receiver has been listed as a NEW HP USB MCE IR receiver/Remote Controller / Win Vista 7 infrared transmitter. We got it from Las Vegas ECHOMAN. We found it through Amazon for about $19,00. HP can't find it as a product of their business in order to not try. There may be other solutions out there, but it worked for us.

The new HP 'All IN One' is not really "all-in-One". It came with 4 USB 2.0 ports and 2 3.0 USB ports. I had to use 2 USB port for the work of the TV and 1 for the wireless keyboard / mouse work. The old computer had on-board IR receiver, TV card, and keyboard/mouse IR blaster port/cable and wireless receiver.

We were very disappointed by HP sales and service in support of this product. Sales did not know what they sell and everything promised, and there was virtually no support for hardware/software support team. We finally got help from HP, but it was a 'Case manager' when we finally threatened to return the product. HP gave us aid coverage is extended free of charge for all our troubles. We contacted Avermedia for help and they would only return us HP because they were second retailers part. AVerMedia gave support, but only after repeated emails. All this knowledge was acquired through the school of hard knocks and seems really simple, when you look back on it.  So we hope this will help someone who is in our position.

This problem has been resolved.  We sent the rear Hp computer and bought a DELL computer with a port of HD which connects directly to our set top comcast and press us a button and it goes into HDTV mode and push it again and it goes back to the pc mode
