Best angle for photos of Canyon?

Hello Experts!

I am a novice in photography and I'm going on a giant journey through Utah, Arizona this summer. I will visit all the main Canyon National Parks (Grand, Zion, Bryce, Antelope, Arches and more!) and would like a lens wide angle for my trip.

I have the Canon Rebel SL1. The lenses I have right now are:

18-55mm EF-S IS STM

55-250mm EF-S IS STM

18-135mm EF-S IS STM

I have never had a goal that doesn't have a zoom, but there was a lot of opportunities that I wanted a wider lens of 18mm. I have absolutely no idea where to start when it comes to looking for a lens wide angle though... I would be also open to suggestions for a smaller zoom range so those who are good too... ?

Quick autofocus is important to me because I'm usually on the go-go-go in my travels.

Any recommendations would be appreciated. Explanation of why would be also useful. Thank you very much!

The best (and only in fact) currently manufactured ultra wide angle for EF-S cameras is the EF-S 10-22.  Canon has announced a 10-18 STM, which will be released soon, but that is probably still a month off the coast.  I still think that the 10-22 is a better lens (for my needs), but the 10-18 comes at a very good price ($300) and adds image stabilization.  But you will have to wait for it.

Edit: I have to say, the 10-22 is currently the only manufactured Canon ultra wide for EF - S.  Sigma, Tamron, and Tokina also make slightly cheaper options.

What is the best for the photos? The HP ScanJet Flatbed 300 or the HP Photosmart 6520 device?

I have several old black & white photos I want to scan and then upload to Blurb to make an album. I want just the best scanner because the quality, old photos is pretty terrible. A recommendation please! Mark

    Hello

Normally the scanner is better than the scan on a printer AiO funtion. If you want to use only SCAN function, the 300 Scanjet is much better than the AiO 6520 and LESS hassle than the AiO.

  • Best method for photo ID for the portfolio & how to retrieve images of portfolio as a group?

    Hello!

I'm embarrassed to say that after all these years I manually choose my portfolio of images in Lightroom and know that there is a much easier way.  What is the best way to mark the portfolio images and then retrieve them as a group?  I can't use the star ratings that I use these for internal sorting on employment.

Keywords would be the best way to go, i.e. Enter 'portfolio' or 'the portrait portfolio' for selected images?

How would you then access the entire catalog and search on these terms?

Thank you so much everyone and the best, Teri

You can use keywords, color labels, choose the flags, or any searchable metadata field. There is no 'best '. They all work.

Click on all the pictures and then the filter or smart collections bar will allow you to do research and create the portfolio.

  • The best monitor for Photo editing?

I guess that the OP refers to the use of range wide screen with LR, if relevant.

If you print to a printer range inkjet (6 or more inks) that from a wide range will be useful. It will not provide a color accuracy much better than a gamut sRGB for web, screen and printing to standard printers of 4 CMYK inks. With the LR4 test function, you can get a rendering to the very accurate display of what the final output will look like using the target printer and paper profile.

Range wide display will not render color correctly with most web browsers and other applications run without colors. For this reason, I also suggest using a dual display configuration with a standard screen of the sRGB gamut and a screen wide gamut.

Also be aware that 10 bits/color will give the best rendering gradients very well on wide gamut displays, but LR currently supported only the outputs on 8-bit display / color. Only PS CS4 - CS6 support 10bits color output display. You must also use a graphics card which supports 10/bit color and compatible with PS.

If you don't fully understand the differences between a range and gamut standard (sRGB) screen I suggest doing some research. Also search in this forum and the Web for customers on the screens you are considering. There has been many problems with calibration some views of wide range of model.

Software of Apple's professional photo 'Openness' is no longer sold. Professional software, you will need to look for software from third-party manufacturers - Lightroom, Capture One, to name a few.

  • Best app for the batch processing of photos for the web?

I would like to know what is the best application for batch processing photos for the web quickly and easily. I'm a web editor and often need to resize, compress, or crop several photos and would like a quick way to configure the basic parameters and processes for example 20 pictures at once. Basically, I'm looking for something with the ability to FastStone Photo Resizer (I'm on a Mac and cannot use FastStone). I remember an once suggested graphic designer LightRoom - would that be a good idea or Adobe has something else? Or maybe not Adobe at all?

PhotoShop seems heavy for this purpose: it is ideal to make the photo woth that much at the time, but less large to do less with many pictures at once. I know that I can implement some sort of macro-thingie, but I would like to be able to quickly change settings such as the percentage of compression or the width in pixels.

I don't need a lot of editing tools, mostly just work in pixels, resizing, compression or cropping and save for the web in .jpg and .png - and Mac.

I hope someone here can guide me in the right direction.

  • DPS: Judge to use the parameter Raster or vector in the States of the objects when the majority of the page is a photo. What is the best setting for the overall performance?

I am trying to decide whether to use the parameter Raster or vector in the States of the object when the majority of the screen is a picture (with a modest but important legend for children to read). The legend certainly makes it look more net as vector. But does the photo! The raster setting seems to make the lower-res images in comparison. In my first edition of my application, I thought that raster would be the best setting when the photo was the subject dominating the page. But now, after seeing how strong he looks like vector, (but with almost a refresh of the unacceptable time. Perhaps better on the latest iPad. Most of my readers/students in class will use iPad 2 s, which has a slower processor). I wonder if I should go through the trouble of changing States of photo objects that have the type as well to the vector. It doesn't seem to be as sensitive to a re - draw on the iPad 2 (non-retine)

Is Filesize hit if I make about 1200 on these objects range from Raster to vector? (It is a huge, highly interactive history book, so I'm curious if acutally go to vector on these photos would reduce the size of the file) What is the best setting for the overall performance?

I see the freeks screen outside for a bit if you try to pinch and zoom in a vector object (photo) vs raster. Which is disappointing. Does slow down load time/refreshment in frame, which is a little less. I also found that the drop shadows really bad that redraws effect in vector, almost vibrating in a slide show, for example. Thus, in cases where I need shadows, I'm sticking with Raster.

    All tips go ahead?

    Brian

  • Please correct the function map for photo albums in Photos

Dear Apple people - difficulty please please the function map for photos in photo books. I loved the features of cards in iPhoto, so why go to all the trouble of screwing up so royally in Photos v1.5? A few examples at random: instead of being able to type a place name and have the program to find the place for you, must now click on the + sign, then a red dot appears in a place at random (as in the middle of the Tasman Sea), and we can then move the red dot at the location you want (after first checking a different map to determine the correct location of the place you mean - Port Douglas Australia for example). A colossal waste of time. Or how about this: it takes an hour to put the plan in place so, then closes the program. At the next opening it, found the red dots have all migrated to odd locations around the map, bearing no resemblance to where they were placed at the origin. Once again, a huge waste of time. And it's only two of many examples.

Please, I beg you, bring back the features of cards in iPhoto!

1 - Apple isn't here - it is strictly a user to user forum

2 - person here can fix anything

    3. you can certainly type the names of places with pictures - using Photos (a great place to get help with Photos)

View and add information about the photos

To view or change information for the photos, you select one or more photos, and then open the information window.

    • Open the Info window: Double-click a photo to view it, and then click the Info button in the toolbar or press on command I.
    • Add or edit information:
    • Change the following.
      • Title: Enter a name in the title field.
      • Description: In the Description field, type a caption.
      • Favorite: Click the Favorites button to mark the photo as a favorite. Click the button again to deselect.
      • Keywords: Enter the keywords in the keywords field. When you type, Photos suggest keywords that you have used before. Press enter when you have finished a keyword. To remove a keyword, select it and press DELETE.
      • Faces: Click on and type a name to identify a face. Click on several times, and then drag the identifier of the face different faces to identify many faces in a photo.
      • Location: Enter a location in the location field. When you type, Photos suggest places you can choose. To change a location, you can search a different location or change the location by dragging a PIN on the map. To remove location information, delete it or choose Image > location, then choose Remove location or back to the original location. You cannot assign a location if your computer is not connected to the Internet

4 - If you want to discuss the Photos it is best to post in the forum Photos rather than the abandoned iPhoto product forum - I would ask that this be moved

5 - If you mean apple use the correct form - http://www.apple.com/feedback/photos.html

  • Best Meanless for the 7 "digital picture frame

    Hello

    I had one

    * Digital Photo Frame II, 7 "O, 720 x 480, touch sensor, MP3 Player-Funktion PA3637K-1ETC *.

Manual talk about the best resolution for the photos to.

you will find on the Web: 800 x 480 pixel WVGA screen (720 x 480 pixels ZAL Bereich)

    726 x 480 pixel samples.

    Now my problem:

When you put pictures on it - * it cropps a bit on the right and left side and more on the top and the bottom.*

I tried many sizes. Even in 720 x 480 it cropps.

So my question is: what is the best resolution for the photos?

    Best regards

    Markus

I think that the Digital Photo Frame supports the 3:2 format.

It's a format that is supported for analog cameras.

I think that your photos are created in 3:4.

So if you want to get a maximum photo resolution then you create pictures in the 3:2 format.

For most all CAMS dig support such format and you can choose somewhere in the menu of the digital camera.
