Best approach for tp UCM Content Migration

Hello
We are migrating to the Complutense University of MADRID. It's about 80% of web content and static files of 20%.
And we have about 30 k of content items. Please suggest various approaches to this and please tell best one that goes on the above requirement.

Thank you...

Hello!
One way or another, you must download your file and assign metadata to it. There are a few ways to do this:
1 Batchloader
Create files in a specified format, specifying the paths and metadata of a batch of documents. Once you run your batchloader, the documents will be archived

2 IdcClient
An OCX you can put in your VB / C#-program of running services on your server-UCM

3 IdcCommand
A utility command line for execution of the services

4 WebDAV
Copy a tree of files directly on your server. The drawback here is that you lose control over your metadata - but you can change it later.

  • What would be the best approach to store the contents of an application

    Hi all,

    Whereas there are certain restrictions on the University Complutense of MADRID since the limit of files in a folder (max. 1000), that would be the best approach to store the contents of a request, for example? Is it possible to store the content with a logic of separation?

    Kind regards

    Maybe that I miss the question, but I think you are looking for a good definition of the metadata model or same good architecture of content server instances themselves.

    You wrote that you have lots of files from one application (1200 check-ins per day) and you are limited by the recommendation to have maximum 1000 files in a folder. It is a bit of a mix of apples and oranges. Records are a logical representation of file storage, who must somehow match what users a) are used for b) is useful to organizational processes. If it makes no sense in the context of your organization - just don't use them. At the University Complutense of MADRID, he must be. Unlike, the University Complutense of MADRID must always have a metadata model, and if the content search is one of your typical use cases, it is a starting point.

    You mentioned you want to separate an application an application documents X documents Y - that sounds like you have a metadata field called, for example, 'Application', which will contain the appropriate value. Unfortunately, you write more detail, so I'll make my scripts:

    -Imagine you have users who work areas or countries interested only in 'their' data - sounds like a need for one or more fields to represent this type of separation (country - State - City - whatever)
    -now, you might have another group of users who are more focused on the product; They also want to see 'their' data, but this time, the main search criteria are different (product line - product - Version - Batch, etc..)

    At the University Complutense of MADRID, you can serve both groups - you can create research and recording of profiles that meet the needs of these two types of users. It's actually more convenient than using the folders because you can have multiple views on the same repository.

    It is a "but" to this approach and that's if you want to use Desktop Integration after the check in documents from Office applications (Word, Excel). In this case, you will need records.

    However, even, there is a solution that might help: note that, so far, I expect to have a single repository (a single instance of the University Complutense of MADRID) serving all your applications. In theory, you could have a few instances UCM running in the same environment (the same number of licenses CPU, if you want). Therefore, the main criterion will be the name of the server instance of content rather than a metadata field. Another thing to consider if you want your "desktop users" for access to "all files" in the repository. Note that even if you use folders you can have files that are not assigned to any folder.

  • [JS CS5] Best approach for content sent to doc1 doc2?

    Hi guys,.

    Sometimes, even the jobs the simplest seems unachievable !

    I want to send the text content of a doc1 to a doc2. So let's say that both the document have a container with the same label "here.

    What is the best option to reach the content of the label 'here' on doc1 doc2 textframe? I tried to copy and paste, but as I do this operation in a loop, it's like app.select () is just powerless (throwing error then he works outside of a loop!). I tried textframe.texts.everyItem (.duplicate ()) but I can't spend it textframe doc2 targeted as a destination.

    and of course using content = content is powerless, as the operation ignores all applied styles.

    So any advice will be helpful.

    TIA Loïc

    Hi love,

    Here's my way of doing this:

    var doc1 = app.documents.item("Doc1.indd");
    var doc2 = app.documents.item("Doc2.indd");
    var tf1 = doc1.textFrames.item("here");
    var tf2 = doc2.textFrames.item("here");
    tf1.texts[0].duplicate(LocationOptions.AFTER, tf2.texts[0]);

    You can use move instead of double to move the text.

    Question seem you too much, but my understanding is that you want to 'Access session values' in the Apex.

    In Apex, all elements of the page that is presented, and the session will be available in the session.

    example: If you have the page 1 and P1_NAME like a text field, and if you send the page, access to this to say page 2 P2_NAME to: P1_NAME & P1_NAME. v ('P1_NAME') etc. Then try this under P2_NAME default value setting, enter & P1_NAME. It has the value of P1_NAME to P2_NAME.

    Hope this helps

  • Best approach for the design of the Radial Image - sector scanning Sonar

    This is not a problem, but you are asked to think about the best approach.

    I need a sector sonar image data.  This device runs on 360 (degree sub-segments) and generates a set of data from the origin - radially outwards at an angle of no - to an endpoint.  Therefore, for each 'ping' sonar I need data points in the center of a circle graph, a radial angle on the outside.

    I don't know if I should use LabView vi for the drawing tools, or go to ActiveX or?

    Anyone has a suggestion on the best approach to this?

    Thank you
    Peter

    Peter,

    You can use a chart of the LabVIEW intensities for this kind of display.

    Maybe not the best way, but it is possible.

    As an attachment, I did an example with your specifications.

    datapoints 1024 by degree

    See example image:

    Basic principle:

    -Create the matrix of 2048 x 2048 points database

    -For each 'line of angle' calculate which pixel to replace each data point in the line

    -Because "datapoints" becoming bigger, far from the Center, repeat the action for several "sup angles. for example, to 85 deg also Calc. 84.6, 84.8, 85, 85.2 85.4

    It gives you an idea of the possibilities, but performance may be necessary.

    -Only external Calc x pixels more degrees

    -Do some kind of anti-aliasing to avoid the pixelated lines.

    See attached example. (LV 8.6)

  • best approach for lists of type template shows specific?

    Hi, I want to get a list of rooms only in a specific pattern.  I'm curious to know if I need to use PHP scripts or actionscript.

    By examining the actionscript, I heard that it is not necessarily as safe as the .swf could potentially be decompiled and account identification information.  in the review of PHP, it "would cost" more time as a HTTPService call would be necessary as the user having to wait for the server to connect to the account (However, this currently the approach I'm leaning towards since I write for a DB on the creation of space in any case)

    What would be the best practice for a list of the rooms IN a SPECIFIC MODEL?  If the answer is PHP, could someone provide an example of how analyze table returned to get only a specific model type?  I'm a little confused on how to access specific nodes of the... $list = $am-> listRooms();... Thanks in advance!

    It is an example of using AFCSAccount-> listRoom():

    $am = new AFCSAccount ($accountURL);

    $am-> login ($username, $password);

    echo "= room for {$accountName} list = \n";

    {foreach ($am-> listRooms() as $r)

    echo "{$r-> name}: {$r-> desc}: {$r-> created-> format (DATE_RFC822)} \n";

    }

    You would need to look at the rooms where $r-> desc is "name of the model. Currently we do not provide a filter for this, but I understand how this would be useful.

    The alternative is since you manage a database and use it to create space, you must store the information of the model here for quick recovery. Again, the way we store information room is designed for quick access to specific rooms, but not for questioning possibly long list of rooms.

  • What is the best approach for a same code used for 16 test stations

    I write code for 16 testbeds that are all the same, except that different circuits CAN are used, i.e. CAN0 through CAN15. The approach that I plan to use is 16 screws, one for each test station executes independently and in parallel, meaning that they can be stopped and started at different times. Each of the 16 screws have about 10 complex subVIs that are all the same. Even if I do not use uninitialized shift registers, I wonder if there is no advantage to using a reentrant approach, or even if it works for my application. Any suggestions are appreciated as I have no experience using the reentrant approach.

    Thank you.

    First of all, you should get used to use projects. They are very useful. If the code is in a project, you can open the VI from there.

  • Best approach for a Service that runs on a queue of entry requires an asynchronous operation

    I have some sort of a queue of requests to which I am able to add news from various parts of the application.

    My JavaFX-Service must then process these requests asynchronous, but coordinated way.

    My current approach is to use an ObservableList for the queue. I have a listener on its emptyProperty and trigger restarting the service whenever it not pass of the vacuum to the vacuum.

    In the task of my service, I take the first element of the list, treat it and when the treatment has passed (or omitted), delete the list.

    Then, however I have to check in the succeeded() and failed() methods if there are more items and restart the service in the event that there are.

    It feels unnecessarily complicated and potentially error-prone. Is there not an approach more simple I'm missing?

    Oh cool, the simulation of greed, thanks for the link that James.

  • Best approach for the transmission of data and images

    We you write an app that will allow the user to take a picture of a document and enter a few bits of information about the document and then send it to our server. It is a mobile extension to a larger system of document management to back office we develop in-house so the intention of this BB app is not not to distribute to the masses.

    What is the most practical approach to transmit data and images captured on our server?

    -FTP - fooled with it some and a pain

    -WebService - did not attempt

    -Send an email with the picture attached - seems to work very well

    Is there another approach, should I consider?

    If you do not already things that communicates to the Server backend, e-mail is probably the easiest way.  Crosses all the issues of the segmentation of the image that you would have to do with the Web Service or FTP.

  • Best approach for the loading of images asynchrounously in a ListField

    I have a ListField, who draws a picture in each row that is loaded on the internet. I load the images and store them on the SD card, then notify the UI that the image is loaded and ready to fire. The only problem I have now is to know how to draw the image in the list without making the user feel as the entire list has been reloaded (IE lose the position of the index selected whenever an image is loaded).

    In my loaded picture the callback method, I use the following code to refresh the list:

    listField.setSize (dealsArray.length);

    I tried to change for this to keep the selected index but I get an illegal state exception:

    selectedIndex int = listField.getSelectedIndex ();

    listField.setSize (dealsArray.length);

    listField.setSelectedIndex (selectedIndex);

    Any help would be appreciated to heighly

    You can void an individual line in a ListField - I would like to try that.

  • What is the best approach to the conversion of the LV7.1 tags to the variables shared by several screws LV2012?

    What is the best approach for the upgrade of the DSC-LV2012/LV7.1/DSC static variable tags in several screws running on several platforms? Our system is made up of about 5 PC running Windows 2000/LV7.1 DURATION, the more a PLC and a PDC running XP/SP3/LV2012. About 3 PC publish information from the sensor through tags on the local network to the PDC. Only the main command is currently being upgraded. Basic questions:

    1. the other computers running RTÉ 7.1 (with labels) will be able to communicate with the PDC running 2012 (shared variables)?

    2. is it necessary for conversion of tags shared variables, or the deprecated legacy tag screws of LV7.1 work in LV2012?

    3 all of the main controllers will be screw must be integrated in a project in order to use shared variables?

    4 is the only way to do it is to find all the tags and replace them with elements of shared variable?

    Thank you in advance with all the information and advice!

  • Best practices for migration .rpd

    Hello
    Can someone please share with us the best industry practices for the migration of the file .rpd from a source (QA) to a destination environment (Prod). Our Oracle BI server is running on a unix machine, and now what we do to migrate is to save copies of the QA and prod .rpds on our local machine group and perform a merger. Once merged, we the .rpd resulting for the machine of destination (prod) via ftp. This approach seems unreliable, and we are looking for a better approach for the migration of .rpd. Kindly help me where I can find Documentation... Any help in this regard would be highly appreciated.

    I don't think that there is a best practice of the industry as such. What is true for one client doesn't necessarily apply to another site.

    Good read of this from Mark Rittman, it should give you some good ideas:

  • HP stream 11-d008tu: best practices for migrating to Windows 10?

    Hey there, I have a HP flow 11-d0008tu and received the notification I can upgrade to Windows 10. I want to do a clean install with a downloaded ISO but knowledge first of all, it is better to upgrade so that you get the activation done.

    Can someone give me some ideas on best practices for the upgrade? The stream has only 30GB HD so I have no recovery disk, I'll just do a recovery later on USB or SD card. When I do the upgrade can deselect recovery option or delete?

    Also, any other suggestions appreciated, especially which helps make effective for small HD

    See you soon

    Hi, I posted an installation procedure for Windows 10 fresh for the Tablet HP Stream here.  Also, I have a laptop 11 flow but do not have that yet. I think it must be the same because they both the same drive of mem 32 GB Hynix. A change would you probably want to use the 64-bit instead of 32-bit Windows 10 ISO file, the Tablet has only 1 GB of RAM.
