Best camera for slow motion under $400?

OK, first off I don't know too much about the cameras. I take lots of videos for editing with After Effects, and I also post videos on YouTube a lot. Right now, I have a Sony Cybershot DSC-WX9 1080 p 60i footage shot and 16MP. However, I am looking to upgrade to something that draws the best slow motion video. The two important things I want is clear 60 FPS + video and fast image speed. If possible, it should be less than $400. I've been to the GoPro HD3, but it is a bit high in my price range (in addition, it works well for taking pictures...).

Does anyone have recommendations?

Thank you!

399 black GoPro Hero3 is an amazing camera for a point and shoot. Takes snapshots at high speed and takes very good stills and the time. If you want all around the camcorder that will slow down the MB and you can live with one correction lens wide angle, you can't beat the GoPro right now. I have one and it is totally amazing.

  • Best SSD for a T420 under $ 200

    Hello

I'm awkward between a T420 and a 220 X, especially because the X 220 has a smaller screen and I don't know how I'll be able to adapt to that (I already have glasses, so...).

What is the best SSD for the T420 under $ 200? Almost any larger than 100 GB capacity should be fine for me as I intend to get a UltraBay housing and put the HARD drive.

The Intel 520 series is also very popular, as is the Samsung 830 series. They are all good. You could do a search on Google for reviews and comparison tests, but I suspect that you will be happy with any of them.

  • "Workflow" for Slow Motion DSLR

Hi, I've been experimenting with the creation of idle smoothly in a calendar of 1080/25 and questioned on the best workflow. (I used a Canon 70 d, stipulating that 50 frames per second at 720)

So: Chronology 1080/25 Pro Res FCP7 (majority of the 1080/25 source footage)

I want to add a short section of idle and for that I shot in 720/50 - but of course it is made at 25 frames per second when added to the timeline and playback is stuttering when 50% of the speed value.

So I sent the clip (at 50%) to 4 Motion and applied optical flow - this provided a smoother playback

(I tried to optical flow on a clip of 1080/25 to 50% but reading stuttered slightly)

I just wanted to confirm if it is the best workflow for idling smoothly.  Also when I tried to apply the optic flow on a second Motion 4 already 'optic flow"selected clip, but when I clicked on that nothing happened - I had to close out Motion and start over with the clip under a new name.

DSC-HX50 would be the best option for your needs. It has also many interesting features. It is integrated with optical zoom 30 x and 60 x Zoom of Digital Image clear.

This device has a 20.4 million pixels image CMOS Exmor R sensor that brings out the full resolving power of the lens of the camera to offer extremely fast speed, high resolution Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T, and a great sensitivity in low light with improved and drastically reduced grain image clarity.

  • Is the 6 d a good camera for sports photography, compared to the 5 d Mark II or III

I think buying the 6 d. I currently have a 5 d Mark II and was considering the upgrade to the Mark III, but I love the wifi of the 6 d option, I was wondering what I will lose as opposed to the Mark III. I shoot real plans whitewater rafters and kayakers, and I want the best camera for this.

    SRW wrote:

That's all I shoot, I have water sports on the River, whitewater rafting and kayaking to be more precise. So the 5 3 might be the best option?

It's certainly a better option.  I don't know if you're just shooting groups floating on a river rafting or get up there in action.  If the latter it is no doubt, but even if it's the first... If you're shooting 100 000 executives was then the cost is easily justified.  The 5 d 3 has a longer life to shutter more weather sealing, better AF, FPS faster and card slots double for professional work.  These characteristics are applicable to what you do.

It is possible that you have apps which unknown to you, that run automatically in the background whenever you start your program. It is good to check if they are legitimate and necessary to launch when you start your PC.

Start button, click on you. In the run box, type: msconfig.exe

A System Configuration tool runs. Go to the Startup tab. You will find a list of applications that are set to run every time your PC starts. If you recognize all of them, use Google to help identify their purpose. Many times, you can open the application that is in question and prevent the application from starting. For example, on my system, I see that Java runs once more a verification tool to update each time you start. In this case, I can set my preferences Java Panel, select Java and uncheck automatically search for updates.

I also use OpenOffice and it wants to run a startup of service to reduce the time that openoffice requires to open. I don't really want something constantly running in the background to save me a few seconds to open the application. Then I go to Google to find out where the switch is to disable this "feature".

If you have unwanted applications running in the background, it is best to either uninstall, our to disable the option that allows them to run at startup. Although you could definitely "uncheck" the application through msconfig.exe, it is essentially a tool of troubleshoouting and not intended for the struggle of the apps (even if you do).

You can always uncheck/check again on this list to see their impact when you then restart your PC.

Once you have verified that apps that are set to start, you can run Windows Task Manager and scroll elements in the process and Services tabs to see what is running. The Services tab can be pretty intimidating to investigate on (there is a lot of misinformation the ' net), so if you are unsure about the services listed, it is best to ask or to jump on this area.

  • Help with Slow Motion?

    After Effects CS6 (11.0.4) Windows 8

I'm trying to slow movement my whole clip at the same speed, beginning to end. Difficulties.

    (1) time > time-remapping

I do keyframes, but if they are spread too far (to encompass the entire clip) it's ultra-slo motion. If you collect the keyframes more closely, it is only slowed down for the part of the element that lies between keyframes.

    (2) BCC optical flow (Boris FX10)

I found beautiful, slowed down as I wanted to, but the clip remained as long as he started, which was 03:24... so it's only about at half way through the animation when it cuts.

Thanks for your suggestions or help.

Time-remapping is very easy to use if you follow these steps.

    1. Make sure that your publication is long enough to include slow down music video - to slow down the video means that your composition must be longer than the clip
    2. Activate the time remapping
    3. The created keyframes represent the time of origin of the clip. There is a keyframe at the beginning and at the end. If you want the end of the clip to be later then move it to the right and the clip will slow down
    4. Here's the important part - the out point of the layer, which is the end of the visible output does not change when you move the keyframe to the right end. You must move the out point.

Understand the times is not easy for most people. It may be hard to visualize what is happening. When you slow down video you do not change the number of original images, you just spend more time in each image. For example, if you have a video that is 100 images for a long time and you enable the time-remapping, expand your membership to 200 images, make it the point of the video to the 200 framework output your video will play normally from frame 0 to frame 100 and then image 100 repeat up to frame 200. If you now move the last time remap keyframe to frame 200 frame 0 to frame 1 of the scenario will be 0 image in the video. Each framework will play twice. Expand the membership of 1000 frames, adjust the output point to frame the 1000 and move the last time remap keyframe at frame 1000 and each image will play 10 times. Framing between 0 and 9 1 of the original frame, frame 10 to 19 will be frame 2 of the original video. This means that the video will play slowly, but the action, things moving in the frame will appear not smooth. You won't reach slowed extreme softness.

There are 3rd party plugins that can do an amazing job of calculating middle managers in this scenario, and if it is properly set up do a good job of making a smooth transition between one frame and the frame of two of the original video. Interpolation will create any kind of a blend between frames and it helps a lot in certain situations, but a plug-in like Twixtor will create a better job. Temporal AE plug-in also will do a good job with certain types of images. The quality of the images slowed down that you can generate images in a 'Normal' (24-30 fps) speed entirely software and what is happening in the framework. If you want to create images of very high quality slowed down the original film must be turned to a higher rate. FPS 60 (or 59.97) is a good start, but really good slow motion footage begins with an original camera turned at 90 or more fps. This requires a special camera with special abilities.

I hope this helps. There is a lot of information on available idle Imaging by typing simply 'time remap' or 'slow motion' in the search field After Effects help at the top right of the image of the application. This is probably the most under function used in After Effects. I have been using AE since it was invented and a living teacher AE and producing products and I admit it to do a search in this area at least once a week to see if there are new items on the features I want to use.

Adobe - search: slow % 20motion. There is a ton of information here. Read up.

  • Best material for editing?

I want to upgrade my computer to edit it. I have an iMac 2011: 2,5 GHz, memory 4 GB, AMD Radeon HD 6750 M 512 MB. I plan to buy another iMac. with a budget of $2500, what would you recommend for best performance for editing? I would emphasise quality video card, memory RAM, or disk (4 cores, 7 carrots, fusion, etc...)?

Download video card with MOST of the vRAM.  That means generally that you will also get the quad core i7 with Turbo Boost technology (acts like one 8 cores when you need it - and presents itself as 8 cores with MenuMeters.) The 2013 iMac had a 'backdoor' easily add RAM, and if this is always the case - buy an extra set of 16G of Crucial or some other 3rd party and add it yourself - you will make savings (if I remember) about $200.  If I had to start everything, I would have also obtained the reader of the merger, but the internal (regular) hard drive in the iMac Gets a pretty decent read/write speed (about 130 MB/s) but not what you really want with video editing. The proposed internal SSD is fairly low, so, I generally recommend external SSD drives and their construction schedules. USB3 is fast. Love at first sight would be better, but it's still expensive. An SSD in USB3 is quite impressive (I get about 300-400 MB/s R/W for one and 370-435 on the other). You can get a USB3 box for $10-$40 (Amazon has a housing Kdlinks now, limited time, for only $9.95!) and you can find a 500 GB SSD for under $ 200 these days. I bought Crucial SSD (I have a little bit o 'too o' Scottish blood in me), but what I've read, the Samsung EVOs are among the fastest (~500MB/s).

-VRAM so Max it is possible! (- what it takes to get this top of the line card... graphics you have it.) - and lotsa RAM (you can buy 8 with mac + 16 crucial for 24 which will give respectable service) - fast external drives are a nice addition.

  • How to make a slow motion effect smooth?

I was editing a trailer and wanted a scene to be idling, but the effect is very jerky. Any help

What is the format of the source, for example, 1080i, 720 p 60, etc.?

More the frame rate, more chances to be decent slow mo. If you shot in 24 p or 30 p, then the options are limited. In all cases, do a right click the clip on the timeline and select 'Interpolation' and see if that helps.

Best case scenario is the use of 'product', like shooting at 60 p and editing in a 30 p or 24 p - this results in silky slow motion sequence.

Please let us know the specification of source material and editing record sequence.

If you have After effects, there is a way to create the interpolation between the images to get better results, but a bit more work to do first.

  • Best monitor for animation

Hi, I'm working on a big animation project.  I'll do all of the concept art to real animation, but I need a new monitor.  My budget is about $ 350.  At the moment I intend to buy the Samsung LS27A350HS.  I want a monitor 27 "for this kind of work, and I was told that it was the best for the price range.  What are your thoughts?  Is there a best instructor that I should look at?  I found a used Dell 2707wfp for $400, but I don't like the idea of not having a warranty.

WARNING: Don't read this if you do not want a brutal honesty.

Any monitor 27 "under 400 dollars is going to be the cheapest Chinese garbage at a low price on the market.  There is nothing wrong with the help of monitors cheap trash if things like the color accuracy, definition and calibration are not important for your work.  If you come to use your monitor for computer stuff and separated from output of your actual design work, that's fine.  But we must realize that, in this price range, your monitor never really represent any kind of calibrated, accurate picture.

A lot of people on this forum use monitors that cost thousands of dollars, so don't expect to a monitor expensive to provide you with ALL the features that professionals consider important. You're shopping in the price range is low for someone who uses Word, so don't expect spectacular results for what it is so involved in animation by computer. If you work for broadcast, your price range simply don't buy you a proper monitor.

Here are some tips I knew low range screens:

Shiny screens are terrible, unless you are working in total darkness.  Make sure that you get a low gloss/Matt screen.  Don't be fooled by the impressive contrast of a glossy screen.

LED monitors in your price range are not the height.  The colors are too intense, and we often see the image shift. Get a LCD display.

Reference Dell are pretty good for the price monitors.  I use Dell monitors for the screens of my work, and I view my actual output of the much more expensive screens.
