Best performance for use no disc

I have several questions closely related to Adobe Premier.
When I work with Adobe Premier and standard definition video, I always produced the video DVD. I start with a digital video on tapes DVCPro, Mini-DV or DVCam and play them via firewire on a computer where I capture using Adobe Premier. The Prime Minister creates a .avi file. Later, when I add titles and out of the Prime Minister as a reminder, the Prime Minister creates a separate .m2v and a .wav file that still uses to make the DVD.

My first question is: is this .avi file, the format of best quality that the Prime Minister can capture at? Y at - it captures the quality settings? the reason why I ask this question, it is because I never thought of a like quality abroadcast format .avi file and suspicious of it since I started to use the Prime Minister almost 10 years ago.

I've always been very unhappy with the degradation of the quality on DVD. Of course, it is understandable given the digital video, which looks very good, is observed at 25 megabits per second, while a DVD uses a little less. I was very disappointed that no standard has not yet created for the use of Blu Ray discs for video in standard definition. Blu Ray disc could hold full quality digital standard definition video and could contain a lot of it. So I thought about foregoing the benefits of an optical disc and instead or in addition, to produce files for playback from a video server.

My second question is: can a video server play audio and video files separated as one?

My third question: if my intention is not not to use again to produce a DVD but rather to produce a file for playback of the server, which is the first best quality format can produce which is likely to play on a video server?

I also use the first to produce HD video, which I've been putting on the Blu Ray discs. I was pleased with the quality of the final product of disc. I don't know how much better this video might look if I didn't compress it to the disc. I have no way at this moment to play anything on a HD TV that is not on a Blu Ray disc. I start by XDCamEx uncompressed video or common of the objectives of 1080 files. The Prime Minister then creates a separate file of and.wav H.264 (.m4v), which still turns into a file .iso in which, I do the Blu Ray disc.

My fourth question: If me not to HD video out of the Prime Minister to send in again to create a Blu Ray disc, which is more high quality 1080 format first can produce that are likely to play on a video server?

I have not used the capture in first to know exactly what feature as its record of. avi is a 'container' that can hold a number of different codecs. AVI in itself isn't bad, the codec inside avi, used for video is whats important. others may chime for offer details and tips for this...

I saw the Extras or behind the clips of scenes on the bluray movies that are dvd resolution. while I did not take one, it should be possible. its also listed as a bluray format supported. Blu-ray Disc - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

the main concern of video servers is usually playback compatibility. given that almost everything plays MP4/h.264, this format is usually chosen. You can output h264 first to standard definition and pictures in high definition, as h264/aac in a single mp4 file. If you want a dvd and h264 for video server, you should make out twice. If you're just hosting files that are read on computers and space is a concern, you can do a small scale and use h265 for the video codec.

There may be a program for the video server for audio and video separated, but I don't remember which and its probably not common. If you convert to h264/aac, you can combine video and audio in the transcoding process. If its already h264 there are programs to combine video and audio without re-encoding.

What is the best SSD for use in the Ultrabay caddy in a Thinkpad T420?

    Welcome to the forum!

Any standard 2.5 "7mm or 9.5 mm SSD should work. I'd stick with brands such as Crucial, Samsung or Intel and are looking for the cost lowest to higher capacity. Considering that the T420 is now several years old, that I doubt that go with the SSD that has specifications "faster" will make a difference in practice.

BTW the Ultrabay works at speeds of SATA-III (6 Gb/s), so it shouldn't be a bottleneck compared to the internal drive Bay.

    (1) with 24 GB of ram can I still a pagefile?

    1. Yes.  ALWAYS have a pagefile.  It may not be necessary a lot with 24 GB of RAM, but your system may crash hard without her, if it is never actually needed.

    2. I wouldn't worry on this subject.  With that much memory, you're not likely to see much difference.  And Win 7 64 manages memory did MUCH better than XP.  So better to let her do a job without being bothered by the user.

  • Best practices for using MSE8350 with VCS Expressway

Thanks for the tips and suggestions!

Given that VCS highway is the only entry point from the rest of the world into our network of videoconference, what is the best way to deploy and use an IP MSE8350 GW?

Organizations put it outside their firewall next to a fast track to allow of the older endpoints direct dial in the menu of the GW IP system? We have one that does nothing and I'm trying to figure out what to do with it. (bought before that I'm here).

    Thank you!

It always depends on what the needs are. It can be deployed inside, outside, both in combination with the

    VCS or even autonomous.

I have often seen it deployed inside, so she can speak the TMS to receive directories.

This deployment also gives you the ability to reach endpoints on the IP addresses of the internal network.

The VCS-E (and (C) have an option for a back fall alias, you can simply set the address of the

IPGW. In this scenario, a call to the ip address of the vcs-e will hit the ipgw inside.

This limits also all external ip for VCS-E (s) connectivity.

For me its sad to see that the IPGW is end of life, I think it would be perfect as an IVR system

and could be combined with for example the conductor.

If you still can't find a way to use it, feel free to donate to me ;-)

    Answer [email protected].
    Thank you...

    Hi Ercan

In my opinion, this is a common problem with laptops because performance laptops are not as on desktop computers, and there is no longer any possibility for updates as on desktop computers.

Try to set all the graphics settings at a lower level. Maybe the performance will be better. I do it with the games I play.

  • What are the best practices for using Lightroom in two places

    Here's the problem:

Photographer working weekends and holidays at another place with a second laptop (no).  Photographer wants to keep two separate but identical to the entire photo library copies and the catalog LR for safety.  At the end of a period of work at location 1, photographer wants to take all the changed files (some new, some just changed) and update the LR and the library catalogue to slot 2.  This could be done via the internet, but it is perhaps more practical transport changes on a disk "intermediary".

Does anyone have an opinion on the best ways to do this?  Is there a way to just export (as the catalog) files and the changed files and then import it into a different location?  Manually copying files of photos that we think have been modified to run the risk of missing some.  Just copy everything means carrying close to 2 TB and this will also take a long time before each trip.  Not so convenient every weekend.

    Tips and ideas appreciated.

Create a smart collection - published in X days. Select it and export as catalog, including negatives. Keep to the other computer and import the catalog to enter the catalog of another computer (or just open it directly). Reverse the process to bring things back.

DW CS6 using, what would be the recommended CMS to use?

Ok.  Well boom is a good starting point.  But there are moments where it may not be the right choice.  There is no one-size-fits-all CMS.  They are big, small, and all the rest. So base your choice on the following criteria.

    • needs of the customer,
    • ease of use,
    • budget,
    • coding skills necessary to deploy it.

  • What are the best practices for use of GLOBAL Variables

    Hello

Please guide how Global Variables can be declared and how they can be initialized.

Further please guide what are the impacts of the Variables(if any) world on the memory of the CLIENT or the SERVER, if they are not initialized or released after use.

    Thank you.

    Kind regards.

There are 255 characters (fixed) - or a less than before, don't know if they still are that length.
My preference is not to use and use the settings or package variables. There is no real control of globals, so you may find yourself with an applications which has a good number of them which is used only once but which persists during the user's session.

  • Best practices for color use in Adobe CC?

    Hi all

Is there an article that describes the best practices for use of color in Adobe CC?

I produce a mixture of viewing online (PDF, for the most part) and real world print projects - often with the obligation for both. I recently updated my PANTONE + bridge books for the first time in ages and I am suddenly confused by the use of Lab colors in the Adobe Suite (Illustrator and InDesign).

Everything I found online, looks like Lab color mode preferred to use because it is device independent. And perceptual (on screen), it looks much closer to the color, it is trying to represent. But when I mark a Spot color Illustrator rectangle using laboratory coordinates, to the sides of a rectangle using PANTONE + bridge CP and then export it to PDF, the version of CP to mix CMYK color corresponds exactly to my Pantone book - while the version of laboratory (after converted to CMYK using the ink Manager) is far away.

I have this fantasy to manage only a single Illustrator or InDesign file for both worlds (PDF) printed and online. Is not possible in practice?

Any info describing the basic definitions of the color modes - or even a book tracing more than use them in the real world - would be much appreciated!

    Thank you

    Bob

Here are a few best practices you can already do.

1 make sure that your color settings are synchronized on all applications.

    2. use a CMYK profile appropriate for your print output. Lab spot colors convert to CMYK values based on the CMYK icc profile.

    3. include icc profiles when save or export pdf files

In theory, your imagination is possible today. It requires color management and the use of icc profiles. You can place RGB images in InDesign and use Pantone colors in your objects. The problem lies in the printers. If a printer uses a RIP with built in Pantone library, the colors will match when printing. Unfortunately, this kind of CUT is more expensive and not enough printers use them. Most of them is always manually approximate CMYK values composition given Pantone colors.

  • Best material for editing?

I want to upgrade my computer to edit it. I have an iMac 2011: 2,5 GHz, memory 4 GB, AMD Radeon HD 6750 M 512 MB. I plan to buy another iMac. with a budget of $2500, what would you recommend for best performance for editing? I would emphasise quality video card, memory RAM, or disk (4 cores, 7 carrots, fusion, etc...)?

Download video card with MOST of the vRAM.  That means generally that you will also get the quad core i7 with Turbo Boost technology (acts like one 8 cores when you need it - and presents itself as 8 cores with MenuMeters.) The 2013 iMac had a 'backdoor' easily add RAM, and if this is always the case - buy an extra set of 16G of Crucial or some other 3rd party and add it yourself - you will make savings (if I remember) about $200.  If I had to start everything, I would have also obtained the reader of the merger, but the internal (regular) hard drive in the iMac Gets a pretty decent read/write speed (about 130 MB/s) but not what you really want with video editing. The proposed internal SSD is fairly low, so, I generally recommend external SSD drives and their construction schedules. USB3 is fast. Love at first sight would be better, but it's still expensive. An SSD in USB3 is quite impressive (I get about 300-400 MB/s R/W for one and 370-435 on the other). You can get a USB3 box for $10-$40 (Amazon has a housing Kdlinks now, limited time, for only $9.95!) and you can find a 500 GB SSD for under $ 200 these days. I bought Crucial SSD (I have a little bit o 'too o' Scottish blood in me), but what I've read, the Samsung EVOs are among the fastest (~500MB/s).

-VRAM so Max it is possible! (- what it takes to get this top of the line card... graphics you have it.) - and lotsa RAM (you can buy 8 with mac + 16 crucial for 24 which will give respectable service) - fast external drives are a nice addition.

  • C: transfer disc 500 GB external drive and re - install XP for best performance...

Can I safely move my C: drive to my external 500 GB drive and re-install XP for best performance, and then replace the files & C: files transferred by car to ' puter?

N ° it will not work. Copy your data to the external hard drive, and then make your own install if that's what you want. But take a look at the "slow computer" information below first. Certainly you should backup your data to the external hard drive regularly even when.

    http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html#Backing_Up

    http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html#Reinstalling_Windows

Some reasons for the slow pace of the computer:

    1. computer has not been maintained - http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html#Maintenance

    2. the computer is infected with the malware - http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html#Removing_Malware

    3. the disk is too full. Remove useless stuff, uninstall unused programs. Do not forget to save!
    http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html#Backing_Up

    4. flaky third party software. Toolbars and modules are particularly guilty in this area. Uninstall toolbars (Google, Yahoo, ISP brand, etc) and look at what modules are in use in your browser (s).

    5. computer has too many unnecessary programs/processes running in the background. Manage your Startup:

For XP - How to troubleshoot using the Msconfig in Windows XP utility - http://support.microsoft.com/?id=310560
The free Autoruns program is very useful for managing your Startup - http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/default.mspx

For Vista/Windows7 - Start Orb > Search box > type: msconfig and when it appears in the results area above, right-click and choose 'run as administrator '. Autoruns is also very useful.

    6. the user runs an inflated/invasive such as Norton and McAfee antivirus program. Replace it with a better program. I recommend NOD32 (commercial) or Avast (free). Avira is also good, but the free version has an unpleasant reminder screen (Google for instructions on how to disable it). The user can also run several real-time antivirus/firewall/security programs.

    7. the user has installed new programs that are processor and/or memory-intensive (Photoshop, AutoCAD, Mathmatica or similar) and does not have the power of the equipment.

8 drive fails and is in PIO Mode. It's very much slow (like being in 1985). See Hans-Georg Michna here information - http://winhlp.com/?q=node/10

  • DPS: Judge to use the parameter Raster or vector in the States of the objects when the majority of the page is a photo. What is the best setting for the overall performance?

I am trying to decide whether to use the parameter Raster or vector in the States of the object when the majority of the screen is a picture (with a modest but important legend for children to read). The legend certainly makes it look more net as vector. But does the photo! The raster setting seems to make the lower-res images in comparison. In my first edition of my application, I thought that raster would be the best setting when the photo was the subject dominating the page. But now, after seeing how strong he looks like vector, (but with almost a refresh of the unacceptable time. Perhaps better on the latest iPad. Most of my readers/students in class will use iPad 2 s, which has a slower processor). I wonder if I should go through the trouble of changing States of photo objects that have the type as well to the vector. It doesn't seem to be as sensitive to a re - draw on the iPad 2 (non-retine)

Is Filesize hit if I make about 1200 on these objects range from Raster to vector? (It is a huge, highly interactive history book, so I'm curious if acutally go to vector on these photos would reduce the size of the file) What is the best setting for the overall performance?

I see the freeks screen outside for a bit if you try to pinch and zoom in a vector object (photo) vs raster. Which is disappointing. Does slow down load time/refreshment in frame, which is a little less. I also found that the drop shadows really bad that redraws effect in vector, almost vibrating in a slide show, for example. Thus, in cases where I need shadows, I'm sticking with Raster.

    All tips go ahead?

  • What is the best laptop to use for first Pro 2015 cc?

I am currently using a Macbook Pro with:

Processor: 2.9 Ghz Inter Core i7

    Memory: 12 GB 1600 MHz DDr3

Graphics card: Intel HD Graphics 4000 1526 MB

Should I update my graphics card?  When I work with .mov, when I read his jerky.

Eric advice is correct... especially with the 4K more for a standard video.  4K editing or even several stream 1080 p with effects requires a laptop much 'bigger' than what you have.

In the meantime, before acquring a new machine, you can:

    1. increase the system memory of the laptop, as Eric suggested, of at least 16 GB or more

    2. I suppose that you have only one hard drive Bay and not two in your machine. If you have a spinning mechanical hard drive... is a 7200 RPM or, ESPECIALLY if you have a disk of 5 400 rpm... Replace it with a quality SATA III SSD.

The best, especially for editing purposes, is the Samsung 850 Pro model... the prices are down and they are now more affordable. Start with a model of this SSD 256 GB or more. Crucial SSD 200 MX are almost the same in quality, but they are cheaper... no other SSD is recommended due to other types of used controllers.

You would like to clone the image of your hard drive in the new SSD using an external USB 3 docking station to connect the SSD drive in as a "cartridge"... they are cheap (~ $25 - $ 30). Then place the new drive in the internal Bay. Even if you would use that one disc, the new SSD would greatly improve the speed of data read and write operations and overall performance of the computer.

    3. If your machine has 3 USB port, it MAY (or may NOT), be able to take advantage of what we call 'USAP '. This would allow an external drive, such as the Samsung Q1 SSD to operate at nearly the same speed as the internall SSD. For example: a new Samsung 850Pro would go to over 500 MB/sec read and write compared to the humble 150 - 75 MB/s of the HARD original internal drive. A Samsung Q1 might run externally at over 400 MB/sec in reading and enter vs 200 Mbps USB 3 WITHOUT 'USAP '. This would allow you to place all the media, project files, presents a preview and export to the T1, while placing the media cache and the cache files on the disk SSD internal flash for easy removal when the projects are completed. The high-performance T1 can be plugged into other machines to get back to work. Speed training is VERY IMPORTANT and may be the main cause of current sluggish performance, but also inadequate hardware components. Of course, you can ALSO have high speed external port 'Thunderbolt', but using this port storage solutions are very expensive.

    4. MORE IMPORTANT! Since it seems that the GPU on your machine is low, you may need to 'transcode' the images you want to edit in a more EASY codec for your machine to manage.  You can try the DNxHD "visually lossless" codec to Quicktime.  Windows users can also use the "Cineform" free of the Go Pro webssite codec... I don't know if Mac users can use Cineform, being a Windows Guy.

If you are a serious Editor, you will DEFINITELY need a new machine very soon. For optimal performance, users are building Haswell E Windows desktops with the 5960 X overclocked to 4.5 Ghz CPU and a GPU of NVidia 980ti and either 32 or 64 GB of memory system.  They use a Samsung 850 Pro SSD as a boot drive for the OS, programs and Windows pagefile ONLY.  All other files, go to the new Samsung 950 NVMe PCI DSS Pro who has read more than 2 GB/s speed and 1.5 GB/s write speed AND which is "two-way", meaning that it reads and writes at the same time... Unlike SATA, it relates to one or the other and not BOTH at the same time. For the greater data capacity, a large RAID 0 array off the coast of 3 or moreSamsung 850 SSD Pro motherboard can also provide fast performance.
