Best practices installation CARS in two areas of data center?

Data Center has two distinct areas.
In each area, we have a storage system and a rac node.

We will install RAC 11 GR 2 ASM.

For data, we want to use diskgroup + DATA, normal redundancy mirrored on two storage systems.

CRS + vote, we want to use diskgroup + CRS, normal redundancy.
But for diskgroup CRS + vote with normal redundancy, there are 3 LUNS and we have only 2 storage systems.
In my view, that the third logical unit number is necessary to avoid situations of split brain.

If we put two LUNS to storage lun #1 and the other for storage #2, what will happen when storage faills #1 - it means that two of the three disks for diskgroup + CRS are inaccessible?
What will happen when all the material in the #1 box fails?
Is the human intervention: at the time of the failure, which #1 area rises again?

Is there a best practice for configuration 2-zone 2-storage cars?

Joachim

Hello

With regard to the vote of the files are concerned, that a node must be able to access more than half of the files with the right to vote at any time (simple majority). In order to be able to tolerate failure of n files in vote, need at least 2n + 1 configured. (n = number of files with voting rights) for the cluster.
The problem in a stretch cluster configuration, is that most of the facilities use only two storage systems (one on each site), which means that the site that hosts the majority of voting records is a potential single point of failure for the entire cluster. If the storage or the site where the files of n + 1 vote is configured fails, the entire cluster will go down, because Oracle Clusterware will lose the majority of the files.
To avoid a complete cluster failure, Oracle will support a third vote file on a cheap lowend, standard NFS mounted device somewhere in the network. Oracle recommends the file NFS vote on a dedicated server, which belongs to a production environment.

The white paper below allows you to accomplish:
http://www.Oracle.com/technetwork/database/Clusterware/overview/grid-infra-thirdvoteonnfs-131158.PDF

Also with regard to the configuration of the vote and OCR (11.2), when you use ASM. How they should be stored?

  • Best practices for the integration of the Master Data Management (MDM)

I work on the integration of MDM with Eloqua and are looking for the best approach to sync data lead/Contact changes of Eloqua in our internal MDM Hub (output only). Ideally, we would like that integration practically in real time but my findings to date suggest that there is no option. Any integration will result in a kind of calendar.

Here are the options that we had:

    1. "Exotic" CRM integration: using internal events to capture and queue in the queue changes internal (QIP) and allows access to the queue from outside Eloqua SOAP/REST API
    2. Data export: set up a Data Export that is "expected" to run on request and exteernally annex survey via the API SOAP/REST/in bulk
    3. API in bulk: changes in voting that has happened since the previous survey through the API in bulk from Eloqua outside (not sure how this is different from the previous option)

Two other options which may not work at all and who are potentially antimodel:

    • Cloud connector: create a campaign questioning changes to schedule and configure a connector of cloud (if possible at all) to notify MDM endpoint to query contact/lead "record" of Eloqua.
    • "Native" integration CRM (crazy): fake of a native CRM endpoint (for example, Salesforce) and use internal events and external calls to Eloqua push data into our MDM

    Issues related to the:

    1. What is the best practice for this integration?
    2. Give us an option that would give us the close integration in real-time (technically asynchronous but always / event-based reminder)? (something like the outgoing in Salesforce e-mail)
    3. What limits should consider these options? (for example API daily call, size response SOAP/REST)

If you can, I would try to talk to Informatica...

To imitate the integrations of native type, you use the QIP and control what activities it validated by internal events as you would with a native integration.

You will also use the cloud api connector to allow you to set up an integration CRM (or MDM) program.

You have fields of identification is added objects contact and account in Eloqua for their respective IDs in the MDM system and keep track of the last update of MDM with a date field.

A task scheduled outside of Eloqua would go to a certain interval and extract the QAP changes send to MDM and pull the contacts waiting to be sent in place of the cloud connector.

It isn't really much of anything as outgoing unfortunately use Messaging.  You can send form data shall immediately submit data to Server (it would be a bit like from collections of rule of integration running of the steps in processing of forms).

  • Best practice for simultaneously run two loops (read + write) in sync

    Hello

I thought I had a work program that could write and read simultaeously with reasonable accuracy, because it is perhaps not as reliable that I discovered the thought (he sometimes gets out of sync/jumps steps).

Is there a good guide, method tutorial or recommended to do with reliability, in sync and effectively?

Should I use the notifier? and/or timed loops?

I have a loop of Scripture, which sends steps to a certain type of equipment (stepper motor or magnet etc.) to not more than 100 Hz.

I have a loop of reading, that reads data from a detector (photodiode, the signal is dependent on the stage of writing), no more than about 1000 Hz (the playback loop runs faster than the loop of writing)

I then pass information from one loop to the other (a single loop wrote to a group, the other readings of him).

I then save data to a file by saving the content of the chart.

    Thank you

    Jeff_Tech wrote:

These two statements are not a contradiction?

There is important information that you have left behind, for example are - it enough for both in phase or is it also necessary that they occur at a very steady pace.

What the two depend on each other? It is an application of control where the output depends on the entry in some way or is it simply an excitation/response pair.

Are you single point of software timed acquisition?

Should it operate for long periods of time or he just a scan done every time?

In any case, are probably the right thing is to run the two hardware timed the same clock. Configure the AO output array and arm the AI, then start the two running of the same clock (for example, you might bind the conversion of CEW AO clock). Read the data in the buffer to HAVE at your leisure in a loop which is a not any special time.

Can you show us a code so we get a better sense of what you are doing?

  • Migrating from a virtual computer between two numbers of data center

    Hello!

I just finished a muddy migration of a virtual machine from one data center to another.

VMotion was not possible, so do not manually move the files was the only option.

After downloading and uploading files to separate data warehouses, I have now a running virtual machine with the file to a folder named "TSV-forum", hard and the .vmx file and the working of a folder named "TSV-forum_2" directory

The reason is that I downloaded the files to a new folder on the new data store named "TSV-forum", and when I created the new virtual machine and set the option to file on hard drive to use the vmx downloaded from the new 'TSV-forum' folder file, it automatically creates the "TSV-forum_2" folder and put the rest of the files for the new virtual machine in this folder.

    How to solve this problem?

I should, perhaps, created the virtual machine in a different way, in the first place.

    How?

    Hello

Connection via vSphere Client on the Vcenter server and

Right-click on this particular VM-> go to change settings of-> click on hard disk and check the DiskFile tab (where is the VMDK file located on what data store)

After that who go to the inventory-> warehouses of data, find the data for this particular VM store, right click and click Browse data store.

you will find a folder with your VM file, click the folder where your file VMDK is located in the upper tab

    Find the underside of wink

After clicking Move he will ask confirmation Move

After you click YES the move items tab will appear

Click on the data store, then select the Destination folder where you want or create a new folder for this particular VM with naming and click on move.

  • Best-practice for hardware virtualization?

Hardware virtualization is disabled by default when I create new virtual machines in my VMware clusters. But what are the best practices for this what settings are recommended? Are there reasons NOT to activate the hardware virtualization?

IMO there is no advantage in allowing virtualization of hardware if you have no need for the virtual machine (for example, a virtual host of the ESXi).

  • Connecting two 6224 separate batteries best practices LAG?

    Hello

I wonder how I should configure LAG between two powerconnect 6224 batteries (2 x powerconnect 6224 by battery) for iSCSI against 4 members EQL traffic, I intend to use the 4 ports of each stack (stack cross-possible LAG on 6224?) and equallogic documentation leaves me in two minds when it wants to run LACP or not?

I wonder what reviewed best practices in this scenario?

Cross-stack, LACP and no PLEASE or am I better of without LACP?

    Thanks in advance

    Cree

The ports connecting the two piles together will be configured differently than the ports of connection of the battery to the EQL appliance. During the connection of the control unit switch EQL is when you might want to disable STP on that specific port.

«Do not use of Spanning Tree (STP) on switch ports that connect to the terminal nodes (iSCSI initiators or storage array network interfaces).» However, if you want to use STP or Rapid STP (preferable to STP), you must enable port settings available on some switches that allow the port immediately transition to PLEASE State reference to link up. This feature can reduce network interruptions that occur when devices to restart, and should only be enabled on switch ports that connect the nodes. "

With the network cards on the EQL devices according to me, there is only one active port, and the other is pending. So on the switch ports that are plug on the EQL will be in access mode for your iSCSI VLANS. Maybe someone more about EQL can chime to confirm.

  • New to ESXi ESXi installation USB or local disks operation best practices?

I'm new to Vmware and run a small store, what is the best practice or best method to install the OS ESXi.  I currently have a few that I have installed on the usb stick on the server Board.  After some research it would be better to have two small drives SSD that I can raid with the operating system, then another RAID for the VM data store.  USB is a single source of failure.

    Thank you

    Mike

    Hello

Having the internal hard drives in RAID1 for the o/s will certainly to avoid a single point of failure, as you pointed out correctly. At present the death of your USB key, your host problems quite quickly, and you will need to get a new one and re-install again. You could save your good host configuration and realistically - it does take too long to rebuild a crowd if he dies. Lose other stuff like network configurations and others would however be a pain!

I think I have two SSD internal drives in RAID1 for the o/s is probably overkill. You will have an advantage any speed of startup, but realistically most of the servers restart everything often and once that ESXi is in place and operational it is very little activity on the disks, a config updates every so often and so on. I'd be inclined to use a SSD to create a Cache of the host for the swap drive, like that you can actually use the SSD and get more performance for your money.

Many manufacturers (like Dell) use internal SD cards in RAID1. While SD cards are not known to be very robust, because of the congestion of ESXi and the minimum number of necessary paperwork once installed initially, it makes a less expensive alternative to business class for the o/s disks.

In regards to your data warehouses, having an internal RAID your local disks is best if you use a stand-alone host with no storage attached to the network. You always have the problem of failure of the host if.

  • Best practices for network configuration of vSphere with two subnets?

Well, then I'll set up 3 ESXi hosts connected to storage shared with two different subnets. I configured the iSCSI initiator and the iSCSI with his own default gateway - 192.168.1.1 - targets through a Cisco router and did the same with the hosts configured with its own default gateway - 192.168.2.2. I don't know if I should have a router in the middle to route traffic between two subnets since I use iSCSI ports linking and grouping of NETWORK cards. If I shouldn't use a physical router, how do I route the traffic between different subnets and use iSCSI ports binding at the same time. What are the best practices for the implementation of a network with two subnets vSphere (ESX host network: iSCSI network)? Thank you in advance.

Install the most common iSCSI would be traffic between hosts and

the storage is not being routed, because a router it could reduce performance.

If you have VLAN 10(192.168.1.0/24) iSCSI, VLAN 20 (192.168.2.0/24) ESX

MGMT and VLAN 30 (192.168.3.0/24) comments VMs and VLAN 40 (192.168.4.0/24)

vMotion a deployment scenario might be something like:

    NIC1 - vSwitch 0 - active VMK (192.168.1.10) MGMT, vMotion VMK (192.168.4.10)

    standby

    NIC2 - vSwitch 1 - current (VLAN30) guest virtual machine port group

    NIC3 - vSwitch 2 - active VMK1 (192.168.1.10) iSCSI

    NIC4 - vSwitch 2 - active VMK2 (192.168.1.11) iSCSI

    NIC5 - vSwitch 1 - current (VLAN30) guest virtual machine port group

    NIC6 - vSwitch 0 - MGMT VMK (192.168.2.10) standby, vMotion

    VMK (192.168.4.10) active

You would place you on VLAN 10 storage with an IP address of something like target

192.168.1.8 and iSCSI traffic would remain on this VLAN. The default value

gateway configured in ESXi would be the router the VLAN 20 with an ip address of

something like 192.168.2.1. I hope that scenario help set some options.

  • Using PowerPoint and Captivate together - what are your best practices?

HI - here are my two questions...

    (1) it seems that when you insert PowerPoint slides in CP7 and duplicate a slide - slide 2 is not a fresh new creation.  It is always related to the original slide & all changes to one of them in PowerPoint, a direct impact on other related slides.  I realize now that I can go back in PP and duplicate it... But it just seems like extra which steps.  Am I missing something here?

    (2) I would like to hear how others approach developers creating a new project of CP, using PowerPoint as a starting point.  Go you back or do you create new themes based on the drawings of PP and then copy and paste the content?  I guess I'm looking here for best practices.

    I appreciate your help!

    Denise

    Hello

If you start from scratch, PowerPoint is a terrible thing to consider. Don't get me wrong it's a great tool for what it does. But the reason we see even any possibility for Captivate shoot in a PowerPoint presentation is because there are still masses of people out there who have hundreds of thousands of PowerPoint presentations they want to reallocate in e-learning. So it is to get this way managed job 'quick and dirty '.

The process of importing a PowerPoint performs a conversion of the PowerPoint slide in Flash SWF file. Then, the SWF file is configured as the subject of the slide background. That's why when you duplicated the slide, you have seen the behaviour you have done.

Here is that if you start from scratch, start with a blank Captivate project. Use PPT if you wish, but only as a design tool. Copy the images of PPT, then insert into Captivate.

  • Client Server installation best practices

    Hi all

I wonder about this, searched and found nothing relevant, so I ask here:
There are all best practice/State of the art when you have a client application installed on the same computer as the database?
I know that the client application uses the binary of the server, but I have to avoid?
Can I install a client Oracle home and the setting for the client application to use the client libraries?

In 11g it of not more changeperm.sh, make - it prove Oracle agrees that the client applications using Server libraries?

    Precision: I am on AIX 6 (or 7) + Oracle 11g.
Client application will be an ETL tool - explaining why he is running on the machine of the DB.

Unless the client application has some specific needs, there is nothing wrong with using the part of binary files on the Oracle server for customer use.
For example, there is a demand I'm working again on which requires 32-bit client. The Oracle Server binaries are 11 GR 2 64 bit (for the database side). 11 GR 2 having no more than the 32-bit part, a 32-bit client installation is required.
It is mainly the certification application version matrix.

    Hello

I also want to know what kind of analysis scripts, I can use for the installer as cron tasks to monitor or detect any failure or problems?

To control the Cluster (OS level):
I suggest you use a tool powerful "CHM" already accompanying the product grid Infrastructure.

How do you set up? Nothing... Just use.

Cluster Health Monitor (CHM) FAQ [ID 1328466.1]

    See this example:

    To monitor the database:
With the HELP OF ADVISORS of PERFORMANCE TUNING AND FUNCTIONS of MANAGEABILITY: AWR and ASH and ADDM Sql Tuning Advisor. [276103.1 ID]

The purpose of this article is to illustrate how to use the new features of 10g management to diagnose

  • What are the best practices framework OA customizations autour?

    Hello

We make many customizations in our case.

What are the best practices around customizations.

    How to document?

What is a good practice to make all the customizations by using functional Adimistrator?

    Kind regards

    Sandra

Best place for this question would be OA Framework

What are the best practices around customizations.

What do you mean by that? There is one way you can do customization. But the functionality can be achieved differently, in this case, it will be very specific in what you want to achieve.

If you reference how to do customization, such as aid of the functional administrator or go to the page and clicking in the Customize link in the page or by using the xml file and using XMLImporter, it is not really important.

If ask you questions about the migration of customization, you can either export to leave an instance and import them into another instance using functional administrator or XML importer. Or do it manually again.

The XML importer is usually easy and need less documentation from the point of view of migration.

    How to document?

If you migrate manually, could better document the steps with screenshots.

If not, document changes in the screen as well as the reference to the downloaded file customization.

What is a good practice to make all the customizations by using functional Adimistrator?

This is one of the option.   I don't see anything wrong with that.

By accessing the page could be more easily test the change.

  • What are the best practices for creating only time data types, and not the Date

    Hi gurus,

We use 12 c DB and we have a requirement to create the column with datatype of time only, if someone please describe what are the best practices for the creation of this.

I would strongly appreciate ideas and suggestions.

    Kind regards
    Ranjan

    Hello

How do you intend to use the time?

If you are going to combine with DATEs or timestamps from a other source, then an INTERVAL DAY TO SECOND or NUMBER may be better.

Will you need to perform arithmetic operations on time, for example, increase the time to 20%, or take an average?   If so, the NUMBER would be preferable.

You are just going to display it?  In this case, DAY INTERVAL in SECONDS, DATE or VARCHAR2 would work.

    As Blushadow said, it depends.

  • What are the best practices for a new employee to learn inside the instance of their business of Eloqua as efficiently as possible?

We have companies everything changed at some point in our lives. And we all go through the process in the first weeks, where you feel new and are just trying to figure out how not to get lost on your way in the mornings.

On top of that, trying to familiarize yourself with your new company Eloqua instance can be a daunting task, especially if it's a large organization.

What are the best practices for new employees to learn as efficiently and effectively as possible?

I am in this situation right now. Moved to a much larger organization. It is a huge task trying to understand all the ins and outs not only society, but also of the eloqua instance, especially when she is complex with many points of integration. I find that most of the learning happens when I really go do the work. I spent a ton of time going through the programs, documentation, integrations, etc., but after awhile, it's all just words on a page and not absorbed.

The biggest thing that I recommend is to learn how and why things are made the way they are currently, ask lots of questions, don't assume not that things work the same as they did with your previous employer.

Download some base in place level benchmarks to demonstrate additional improvement.

Make a list of tasks in the long term. As a new pair of eyes, make a list of things you'd like to improve.
