best way to produce output PDF in ASP Classic

I have Adobe Professional 9.2 and LiveCycle ES Designer 8.1. I need to change a classic ASP web application to generate a PDF report. The way I see it, I have three options:

(1) creating native output PDF using libraries open source.

(2) create a FDF with Adobe Pro form as a model and use the libraries of Adobe's FDF to replace text in the model

(3) create an XML with LiveCycle form as a template and order the substitution of text in the XML.

I created a PDF with LiveCycle and before saving, disabled the 'save the compressed PDF files' in tools/options. I don't want a text box, just labels, and in some of the labels I will put the text distinguishes. When the web application uses the model he will find various text strings in the XML stream and replace.

What is the best way to do it? Is there a better way to make the substitution in the model of LiveCycle? I want to stay with LiveCycle. But since I saw code samples, substitution of FDF is very simple and may be easier. I also thought of LiveCycle is supposed to be the way to go instead of Adobe Pro. Thank you

There is a family of program server ADB products called LiveCycle that do all this and much more. Note that is company based software is not cheap.

    I'm a book printed in 2 spot colours, black and orange, as you can see below.

    I am making images in Photoshop and then recording the 2 layers as in grayscale TIFF images that I can layer in InDesign using the multiplier effect. I use a shade of color, then make the background orange.

    The problem is this, printers that I use asked to export it to PDF / X-3: 2002, but when I do this the black lines are lost. I wonder if there is a better way to prepare the image for printing? Someone recommended save each layer as a bitmap 300 dpi for me but the quality is not always look great.

    Does anyone have advice? I hope this makes some sense!

    In Acrobat 9, it is under Advanced > print > overview of the release. Probably the same in version 10.

    You can do 1 and 2 with JavaScript, but 3 is not something that gives Acrobat. The closest thing is provide is security certificate. You can use standard password security so that the password is required to open the document, but the password might be spent with the document and most users would find annoying and you mind when they forget their password.

    If you have the full Acrobat product, you can insert pages from one PDF to another, but the PDF file may be violating, cross-references and Hypertext.

    I do regularly this page inserts and replacements when cleaning old manuals only under analysis in PDF with OCR.

    I wouldn't do with a PDF manual that is generated, even if the reposting took hours.

    We use 11.3 and 12.2 currently and that you are interested in generating output AFP and PDF simultaneously for each transaction.

    Obviously, we can perform the transaction twice, once using PrinterType = AFP and using PrinterType = PDF in the fsiuser.

    Looking for a way to do it in one fell swoop.

    I use RoboHelp 2015 to generate WebHelp output.

    The development team want me to archive files in TFS so that they can pick up the files and integrate them into the build.

    I'm looking for some best practices here because I'm running into some issues whenever I try to check the files back in. For example, I need to manually track the files I added/renamed/deleted in the HR project.

    We discussed the following options:

    • Delete the contents of the WebHelp output folder in TFS whenever I want to check in new files.
      • This works, but doesn't seem to be a very elegant option.
    • Zip the contents of the folder of WebHelp output and archiving/retrieval of this file
      • This works well for me, but the devs have create a separate process to unzip the file whenever they generate a release, they don't care.
    • Check all files in the folder, overwrite the files with the new files, manually add the new files and then check back in.
      • This job very well, but it requires you to manually add the files whenever you check in and also leaves / the legacy of old who were removed from the HR project.

    Someone at - it other ideas about how to do this?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    I think that the decompression of a file is a very simple action to add to a build process, it is perhaps the best way to go. But there are other options as well.

    You can check in sources in TFS and use RoboHelp with source code control. Then you include RoboHelp in the build process so that the latest sources are retrieved from TFS and aid is generated on the server. A nice solution, but still work to implement. I like this solution because I do not store an output is very useful. As long as you have the sources, you can always create new output.

    For developers, it is easier to just add all the files output in a specific folder. And you can automate this option for yourself as well. The TFS and RoboHelp can remotely control from the command line. Meaning that you can create a batch (1) file generates output from RoboHelp. (2) deletes the current aid of TFS. (3) add the new output 1 to TFS. (4) checks in changes in TFS. A single file can automate everything for you. I have used this method in the past, and once it is implemented, there is virtually no maintenance for you.

    Open the PDF in Acrobat Pro. Choose file > save as other > PDF of reduced size or PDF optimized (which gives you more options).

    You cannot access the ID files by producer folio. I usually work in a dropbox folder so everyone on the project has access.

    We have all different ideas on sharing via "email address" and often features elements are not satisfactory for our purpose. You have perfectly described two features of pdf, share via the output to a pdf slide show (or video) or pdf.

    Both are quick and easy, but there is no direct way to display captions with images full resolution and without transition effects.

    You can use the function 'Print' with 'other options' Organizer configured to display captions, date... and specify one of many virtual printer drivers send the result to PDF instead of printing (standard in Windows 10). A quick and automated to produce a PDF without transitions and captions.

    Or you can use a free, good software like Faststone resizer to prepare your output with more control over the size and position of the legend.

    I have another problem: my use of the legends is such that I'm not all the legends that are shown, and I don't want each picture to have a caption (or title or date...) In fact, the text I want to appear on the pdf presentation would be specific to each image, with a different position depending on the image. It can be done with some work, and the result is much better.

    When I want to share (I like Dropbox, but other storage cloud solutions are good), I choose my output size: (rare), HD TV screen full resolution or smaller. The Organizer, I do a resize a selection based on the height in pixels, then another resize a canvas based on the width, in pixels, with a black background. Can I edit the files individually to add text (not necessarily the legends) where I want to. It's the only job that requires little time, but the result is much better than including legends, both for the appearance of the text and the coherence of the story.

    -import the doc FM (with several chapters) in HR and create HTML webhelp. Ideally, having the links included in the docs of FM (in external PDF) automatically generate in the HR doc, so that the produced HTML online help doc may have clicked on links also open the external PDF files.

    -best way to do it in FM? I guess I have to create my PDFs in a portfolio (package?), so external clients keep the documentation in the same place (because hyperlinks can damage, I guess)

    Presents all works seamlessly in the framework, assuming that you use cross reference tools and the hyperlink correctly. Assuming that your external files are either 1.)  local for new image files or 2.) are in a static situation on a server that can be identified by a URL.

    The warnings are only external PDF files must be in the same relative location as the files FM where they are created, because the path information is used in the links, OR you must specify the static location of the external PDF as a URL using a marker rather than a cross reference hypertext.

    If you move the directories containing PDFs around after the fact, Yes, you will break things.

    (And when you generate your PDF files, it is recommended to open all the files in the book so that network errors and minor messages prevent files update targets).

    If you cannot keep the logical tree when you deliver your PDF documents, Yes, you will need to do the manual steps and create functions and so on and bind files in Acrobat format.

    It is worth it for most people to find a way to maintain the stability of the directory structure...
