Best way to transfer files at VMAs

My first experience with the vMA was very painful.  I needed to transfer files to it but found that the only way to do it, use an ISO from CD image at first glance, /!  Come, I will not burn a CD just for the purpose of the simple file transfer!

Then, I looked a little further and found that there is what we call vcli (or something like that) in a pdf file.  Well, I spent about 15 minutes on vivid, but I have not basic of it.  Another 30 minutes later I finally understand what he's saying and managed to the list of files in a data store.  But no matter what I do, he has refused to "copy"!  Still the error!  And in fact, it seems, it is not possible to copy multiple files using the '-c' option!  What is stupid vcli?

Fortunately, I was able to find a FTP server which I could download files.  And Fortunately there is once again a client ftp in vMA.  So finally, I managed to transfer files to vMA thereby!

I don't know about you, but the only and the best way is FTP, you provided either could find some FTP servers to which you have permission, write or you can set one up without spending too much time!

WHA do you think?

Or should I really burned the CD Holy!

Hello.

I almost always just use WinSCP to transfer files to vMA.

Good luck!

  • Could someone tell me the best way to transfer files and settings from an old computer to a newer version?

Hello everyone, once again I find myself going to the pro to know what you're probably going to think is an easy thing to do, but I have to swallow my pride and ask anyway. Before I ask my question, I need to let you know that I'm almost completely computer illiterate. I can manage to do somethings, but I have a feeling this is going to be difficult. I have an older Dell model, this is the Dimension 2350 series and I would like to transfer those things on that is also a Dell, but it's an Intel Pentium 4. . Really, I don't have as long as it's what files to transfer, but especially picutres of family or your holiday. What worries me is transfer the settings on my old computer to the newest one. I have a Windows XP CD drive that comes with a new computer. What help anyone can give me will be greatly appreciated and thanks in advance!  Can you give me an idea what I have to do first with the old as in the steps I have to take.

    Question for you:

What is the operating system on both systems?  They are both Windows XP?  Is the older Windows XP and the newer Windows Vista?  Windows 7?  Something else?

I ask only because whatever you mentioned was a Windows XP CD that is supplied with the newest computer.  The truth - the newest computer is already up and working as you want - if not relevant.  The answer to the foregoing will help someone lead you correctly.

  • What is the best way to transfer files to an external hard drive?

I would like to clean my laptop occasionally so that the hard disk gets more than half full, because I run a large number of graphics and good programs, my fan has some mental problems then he goes crazy. The problem now is that my external hard drive is that of 500 GB and now it's almost half full. I tried to use the files zipped, but honestly, there's just a huge amount of time to compress something (which by the way, why windows excludes a zipped folder more?) and the file gets that much smaller. Should I use another form of compression program?
A Briefcase is not a substitute for a zipped folder?
    Thank you

    ". . . I can't even afford a good 1 TB hard drive. »

Whenever you are able to buy another external drive, get not necessarily the least expensive (unless it's a more expensive player for sale). If these backups are valuable to you, go the extra cost of a high quality unit.

It seems that you pretty much a backup solution, you're just trying to reduce the time it takes. I understand perfectly with having six physical computers, but four of them use SyncToy to keep the two main desktop computers in sync so I only have two I actually backup; I picture all six, but much less frequent that my backups (copies).

If you try to compress large video files (of the order of GB), I can see where this would be extremely slow and compress probably not as much as you said. In the past, I use to make a copy of zip each of my web sites periodically to check them with one of the order of 1 GB, which took forever.

  • What is the best way to transfer the file to a new larger internal drive?

I am running win 7 ultimate.  I had two hard drives of 500 GB.  C is partitioned to 120 GB (not enough) I just installed a 1.5 terabyte drive.  What is the best way to transfer my data? I would keep the 500 GB (now C: and D :) and add the 1.5 to, I also have a 2 external to that I tried to move my libraries at, but I'm confused my system.)  I don't know much about indexing or mapping.

    \

Consider transferring all the files that are currently in the second partition of 500 GB drive that is hosting the C: drive (you have referred to as D :) on the new drive.

Once you have done this, you can then delete the D: partition since this 1 hard drive. This would then extend the C: drive to actually use all the 500 GB drive. Finally change the drive letter for the 1.5 terabyte disk d: it in disk management ( Diskmgmt.mscRun)

So in the end you have a 500 GB C drive and a 1.5 TB drive D.

When it comes to move libraries Windows has a utility to do it for you. If you click on your username at the top right of the menu start all your user profile directories are displayed. If you right-click on each one and select Properties, those that support this feature will have a tab 'location '. In this tab, it displays the current location of the file, but has a button "move". You move the folder and all its files and subfolders in a new location and update the references, the system uses for this folder.

So if you created a folder on the D drive say 'Juli-year' and you right-click on Favorites, some properties, then on location you can move this summary folder in C:\Users\username\Favourites to D:\Juli-An\Favourites. Not all folders in the user profile supports this but all the c library files and a few others.

Of course if you did as I suggested and ended with a 500 GB C drive you may need.

best way to transfer photos from the iMac on external hard drive

If you are mobile loose photo files, drag them in here and if you are going to be removed from the inside, keep a copy on a second disc.

If you move an iPhoto, Aperture, or photo library, make sure that the external hard drive contains a volume to the Mac OS Extended format, drag the library there, launch the application with the key Option key, choose it, confirm that it works and if you are going to be remove from the inside, keep a copy of it on a second disc.

  • What is the best way to transfer a hard drive of a computer with a motherboard dead to a new system?

    Moving an Installation of Vista

    Hi guys (and girls).

I'm looking for the best way to transfer my computer drive "workaholic" into another machine... it's a Vista Home Premium x 86 OEM installation, but the motherboard has serious problems, so I'll pulling the reader (and its programs of many irreplaceable and owners) and transfer it into another machine. Yes, I know what are the rules regarding OEM licenses and I don't mean to skirt the rules, as I have a full VHPx86 commercial license collecting dust on the shelf that I was going to use, while I was looking for advice on the transfer:

Should I go through the process of installation/installation (and following key change) on the original machine and transfer, then the drive in the new machine?

Or can I move the disk to the new machine as that is, struggle with the driver updates and enter the new key when I reactivate the license?

    Thanks for any advice,

    JAM

I suggest to install the copy retail hard disk once it's in the new computer.  It is more complicated than simply changing the product key.  You can probably use an upgrade of the repair on-site and avoid having to reinstall your programs and data.  However, you should make a backup of the image first, just in case something goes wrong.  The other option is a clean installation of the new OS and Windows Easy Transfer to move your files and settings.  It would need to reinstall your programs.  Personally, I recommend the latter.  If you go this route there are external to the file migwiz drive since you will be formatting the drive.

  • Best way to transfer strings, arrays and clusters

Hi, I just want to know the best way to transfer strings, arrays and clusters between a PC and a computer-RT (compactRIO) if I want to use them in deterministic loops:

For a string should I use a published network shared variable flow or network?

For an array of doubles should I flatten the array in a string and the string of transfer? or should I send it as a picture?

The same for clusters, should I flatten the cluster or the transfer as a cluster?

    Thank you!

Transfers on the network are not deterministic.  You ask how to use the data in a deterministic way, once it arrives on the RT system.  Usually, you would create a separate loop, not critics of time to deal with network communications.  The data arrives it is copied in real-time-safe structures such as RT-FIFO to put at the disposal of the evanescent loop.

I can't give you specific advice on network variables and network flows; Finally, I did this kind of transfer over TCP, until these other options were available.

What is the best way to transfer pictures from an old computer to a flash drive or a drive back then to a new computer?

The easiest and most reliable I've found is to make the direct drag-and-drop method.

    (1) on the old computer, open your Windows Explorer and go to your photos.

    (2) open another Windows Explorer window and access your 'Computer' folder and in your flash drive

    (3) drag the photos to the flash drive.

    (4) take the flash drive on the new computer and drag them into your images folder

  • Best way to transfer a subset of the catalogue with files sidecar from one computer to another?

I'm recently sent to me to take pictures in Costa Rica as part of my work but had to bring my own laptop because it is not suited to my workplace. While that on the road, every night I loaded the photos I had taken this day here on my computer and often started to change. Now, I'm back at home and want to move all photos of travel as well as all files XMP sidecar from my laptop to my desktop computer at the office. What is the best way to do it? I don't want to transfer all the photos on my laptop (pictures of my children, for example), and I don't want to lose the changes that I've already done everything outside the office.

    Please notify.

Select the pictures you want to copy and then export as catalog including pictures on an external drive. Then, on your desktop, you import catalog.

A simple google search will be several links to articles and tutorials on how to do it.

  • Best way to transfer content from one medium to another?

I have flash drives and external drives with many files of data arranged in a structure complex files - 100s of GB each.

What is the best way to 'save' the media on a bigger external drive (2 TB)?

(I also want to 'save' selected files on the internal hard disk, for example everything under Documents And Settings.)

If I simply select and copy the text in the root level (ctrl + A), then paste it into a folder on the drive of TB, I get for files that are encrypted and protected guests or otherwise special in some way, even if I am connected to an administrator account.

Therefore, I have to keep the entire process which can take a long time (hours).

I want to start the process and walk away.

Well, I see that this discussion is wrong anywhere.  I'll search and experiment myself.

I determine that Win7 Backup is not a viable solution.  It seems to back up only the data on the internal hard drives.

I'll watch the multitude of alternatives that turn upward with a Google search.

I might consider Acronis TI, if I can find a detailed description of its features and how to use it first, because it is not free.  The site says «it's the cloud storage»  Of course, that does not satisfy my needs.  I said at the beginning I want to back up to 'a big external disk '.

  • The fastest way to transfer files between servers...

I have a question regarding what would be the best option to accelerate the transfer of files between 2 servers to our VMware environment. We plan to spend our GroupWise email from netware to windows and upgrade to Groupwise (v7 to v8) at the same time. We will anticipate moving about ~ 125 gigabytes of data (files ~ 517 000) and expect that it will take several hours. We would like to minimize this time better we can so we wonder what would be the best configuration of things to get there? Two virtual machines on the same host? Two virtual machines on the data store even? On different hosts, or data warehouses? Our configurations are listed below:

-In the course of running vSphere 4.1 ESXi

-Data stored on 2 Dell Equalogic 5500 without

-SAN one in each of the 2 sites, physically about 3 miles away

-3 guests, 2 to a location and 1 in the other (same places the San)

-Transfer of data from Netware 6.5 source, destination will be Windows 2008 R2 DataCenter

-Links gigabit between all the elements of our VMware environment, including the link between the sites (on optical fiber).

-3 guests are able to run all our virtual machines without overloading, so if we go to the virtual computer to another host, it is not a problem.

We would like to know what is the best way to put everything in place for the transfer, so that we can prepare before hand. Any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance.

Well, the fastest way would be to offload the clone/copy to the San operation. If your configuration supports VAAI then the clone would happen completely on the SAN by assuming that the source and destination storage device is the same SAN. Would it be different San then the network factors in anything. For what is running on the same host, which would be beneficial for cloning a virtual machine (mainly memory footprint) should not take place on the network.

    I hope this helps!
