The idea is to create a profile for workstations in an office of the admin who works a bit like an internet café. They have a couple of shared workstations, a network printer, and they store the data on a file server and work on a local application server.

The current problem is that they constantly record their passwords, remove network drives and change the General configuration of work stations (by chance), which makes it difficult for other users to work - that they do not recognize the look & feel and now don't know where to do what.

I want to create a 'shared' user profile where they can log on, and everything looks familiar. All settings are saved as defaults and no matter what you do, as soon as you log out or restart, the parameters of return by default.

    I would appreciate help.

    Here are a few options:

    • Windows steady state (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/winfamily/sharedaccess/default.mspx). The product is supported for Windows XP and Vista, but maybe it works for Windows 7 too. Or maybe there is an equivalent Windows 7 somewhere.

      Note this:
-Before starting, you must use the robocopy command in reverse so that it fills the C:\Users\UserName.bak folder.
-The task must be run under the system account.

  • HotSync Manager does not have the Show user profile which is in Palm Desktop - badly conducted.

I am running Palm Desktop 4.1.4 on my laptop XP Home Edition SP3

I found that when I hotsynced many my Palm brand programs have not been not sync.

Looking at my Palm Desktop, I found the users 'user' and a user profile. The user has no data inside (no contact etc..) Profile has my contacts and calendar etc.

By selecting 'custom' hotsync manager is initially a field empty user with lines listed below.

By clicking the user field concludes that 'user' but not the user profile that displays in Palm Desktop.

In addition, the lines show items that have been uninstalled from the E2, six months ago.

In Palm Desktop, if I select the 'user' tab up hotsync user allows a selection of "Custom" and "File Link". Slideshows custom the same incorrect lines as the custom in Hotsync manager.

If I select the profile of the user on the ground "Custom" and file link are whitewashed and don't allow selection.

When I hotsync my Palm applications to my my Palm desktop user profile backs up.

I uninstalled my office palm of the laptop and reinstalled but it keeps picking up the same bad ducts and does not pick up the user's profile.

I went to Vista laptop that I have access to and what he was able to successfully back up but I need what he is saved on my XP laptop.

Looks like you need to do a clean tear and a relocation of the desktop on the XP machine. Uninstall the software and remove the PalmOne under Program Files folder. Then reinstall.

  • Can I delete a profile folder if it is empty?

After update of FF 36.0.4, I did a regular maintenance; cleared the cache, history and cookies. Went to restart FF later and unfortunately it does not open. I followed the instructions to support FF to locate my profile folder, trashed the prefs.js file and restarted FF, after which he opened and worked perfectly. During this process, I discovered that I have 2 profile folders; one was completely empty, but the other has a lot of files into it.

How do you I find myself with an empty profile folder, and is it possible to remove it? I assume that this file is not necessary, but none of the bandages cover a "vacuum" profile folder If it's good to remove it, can I just he move to the trash, or y at - it a more complicated way to remove a profile folder empty? By complicated, I am referring to the support article to "https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profile-manager-create-and-remove-firefox-profiles#w_removing-a-profile" which took my head turn and now I'm scared to do something. I wonder if the empty folder is really empty, or if it seems to him just to be empty, but in reality there are hidden files that are associated with that are stored elsewhere on the computer. My god. Thank you.

If the folder is empty, you can remove it. You do not use it in any case, given that firefox doesn't work with an empty folder, and firefox uses only one profile folder.

  • Try to restore a lost Thunderbird profile, but can't "move profile" because the file names are too long

I'm having a problem with Thunderbird that is addressed in several comments here and on "mozillaZine", but trying to follow the instructions for fixing it, I ran into a new problem that I see not addressed. The initial problem is that described in this thread, where my files and everything just disappeared, and I am invited to start to create a new profile:

    https://support.Mozilla.org/en-us/questions/1040003

Following the links in this thread, I get to this - and since my address book has also apparently gone, I click the internal link to the section titled 'Lost profile':

    http://KB.mozillazine.org/Recovering_a_profile_that_suddenly_disappeared

Step 1 then sent me here:

    http://KB.mozillazine.org/Moving_your_profile_folder_-_Thunderbird

Step 2 on this page says: "Copy the profile folder where you want to store." When I try to do it, however (using Windows Explorer on Windows 7), he gets to halfway through the copy and then hang up because it clashes with a file name that is too long to copy. And according to the prompt that tells me this, there are many more yet to come long file names.

Ignore this error and I just ignore these files? That means the copy of profile won't be complete, which I think would be dangerous or would just cause other errors. Or is there some simpler way quite do what I originally planned to do, which is to recover the profile which has mysteriously disappeared?

Again, I'm under Thunderbird on Windows 7 and it was used for years without ever encountering this extremely irritating glitch. I'll be grateful for any help.

Here are three different approaches, I suggest:

1 see https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/using-multiple-profiles and see if you can switch to that you want to use the Profile Manager.

    2. While TB is NOT running, use a prompt with the following commands: Note: place the entire path in quotation marks.

    • CD "the full path of your current profile directory name '.
    • xcopy "the full path of your"good"profile name" / s/h
    • now check with the Windows Explorer, and switch to him as above

3 change "profiles.ini" (using a text editor such as Notepad) to point to the profile 'good '. "profiles.ini" looks like this:

    [General]
    StartWithLastProfile = 1

    [Profile0]
    Name = default
    IsRelative = 1 * change this to 0 *.
Path = yt20rg5n.default * change this to the path and the name of your profile of "good."
    Default = 1

Let me know how it turns out.

  • How can I add the name of the current profile to the window title?

Environment: Windows 8.1, Tbird release both (x 64) daily.

For performance reasons, I need more than one profile of Tbird running concurrently. I don't see an easy way to determine which window is running what hover profile taskbar Windows or the CoolSwitch (aka Alt + Tab). In most cases, there is enough information in the title tag that can help, but for various reasons, that I might have the same email address in more than one profile.

Firefox has a nice add-on called view profile, which precedes the name of the profile for the title. However, it is not compatible with Tbird. I would like to do something similar.

I tried the Add on Titlebar Tweaker, but it does not work. (I have not yet sent the Director). It would be fair that I quite understood yet what needs to be done.

The search on the Internet finds several people with the same desire, but suggestions to answer, or, worse yet, allows to answer a different question.

I am open to the update userChrome.css or other files manually in each profile.

    Does anyone have any suggestions?

Read the paragraph 2nd here and see if the add-on does what you want.

  • [waterfox] Using a default profile. No reset button in the troubleshooting information page.

    QUESTION:

Having a thousand bookmarks affect performance of firefox?

An add-on would prevent the reset button to appear? (tried to disable (blocking, not the addon) probably guilty, edge of adblock, nothing) safe mode seems to 'disable' the page of troubleshooting for some reason any so couldn't really use that to test.

I would have posted these but downstairs I noticed side issues tend to be ignored. or at least the way I say them gets ignored them, so here they are.

    As the title says.

I use only one profile is the default (and not only her name, she is also defined as default value according to the profile.ini).

    According

    http://KB.mozillazine.org/Troubleshooting_Information_page#Reset_Firefox_to_its_default_state

The only factor would prevent her to appear if I do not use the default profile, which is what I currently have, and it's the only profile I.

So... what could be preventing it from appearing?

I'm not on Windows and I am not familiar on what support Waterfox feature and what has been deleted, so you can be better contact Waterfox for support on the problems with the program.

Of course, you can always use the Profile Manager and create a new profile if that's your only intention and manually copy files to the new profile folder.

  • How to open e-mail files old place locally in my Thunderbird profile

I have several old e-mail files that are located in the subfolder imap to my Thunderbird default profile which is held in Appdata/roaming/thunderbird.

Email accounts are no longer active on the net, but now I need to see an old email for several years and I cannot work out how to get that back in Thunderbird so that I can read.

    Install the ImportExportTools extension.
    https://addons.Mozilla.org/en-us/Thunderbird/addon/ImportExportTools/

This will allow you to import existing e-mail files from the old IMAP account in your local folders account.

Note that the e-mail files are mbox files.

  • A virus had attached to an email that I never opened, and it deleted my email Thunderbird profile! Is it possible to get it back? It's urgent!

A Trojan virus attached to an e-mail that I never opened, but it was in my window, that I scrolled my emails as well as the other emails. I don't remember to open it, but if I did I would NEVER open an attachment, not even people I know, unless I'm expecting something! In any case, my virus scanner caught, but he did nothing on this subject. I ended up finding the folder named 'Profile' which contained the virus. I am sure of that. I removed it, because I could not disinfect or he quarantine a reason any. He has apparently removed my Thunderbird profile, so I can't access my email account when I click on the shortcut for the Office Thunderbird on my Windows screen. Please help. I don't know what to do, but I need to access my emails for invoices, etc..

    Thank you
    John

but it was in my window, that I scrolled my emails

    What does that mean?

    My caught virus scanner

Your "virus scanner" is not supposed to analyze your file for Thunderbird profiles in the first place.

    I deleted it

Not a smart move. With the profile you deleted also all your accounts and mail.

I removed it, because I could not disinfect or quarantine it

There is no need of this. A malicious attachment will no damage to your computer as long as you don't try to open or run it.

I don't know what to do

You still have the file deleted in the trash? You can try to login to your account via webmail and check if there are still messages on the server.

For the future, create backups of your profile on a regular basis folder.

  • Is it possible to create a Local administrator user when you use the Profile Manager to get the configuration settings

    Hello

We are studying the use of the Profile Manager of OS X as a way to manage our Enterprise macs.

One of the demands made by the team, is to create an administrator user, as part of the OS X Profile which is lowered to the customer. The rationale is that this would be a way for the it team get, if the fubar user had their Mac

I did not see this anywhere in the configuration options of the Profile Manager and so ask the people who use it as part of their everyday Toolbox, to find out if such an option is available.

    Thank you and best regards,

    Madan failed

No, not with the Profile Manager.

How you deploying your company Mac?  As institutionally imagery or as BYOD devices?  If image, then the image should contain a coherent local administrator account.  If the active image also the Apple Remote Desktop or SSH, you have a method of mass, control and manage the devices.  If BYOD style, then you are out of luck that the end user is the only one with the key of the device.

You can take a look at following JAMF Casper.  Once devices are registered, you have the possibility to create accounts (However the common method is to create an account on registration).  If you deploy a BYOD approach, you should also look into DEP program Apple (https://deploy.apple.com) as more DEP JAMF (or other MDM) is a very powerful tool for light to zero touch deployment of systems.

  • Where can I find profiles

Where can I find the profiles as 'normal' and 'meeting', 'outside' etc.?

If you are speaking about the audio profiles which you set earlier and thenchange as per you need, then no. They aren't supported by Moto G.In case you are on KitKat, long press the power key and you'll have threeoptions: Vibrate, silent and normal. You can adjust the volume by pressingthe volume key.In case you want to allow calls from specific contacts, you can set up MotoAssist Meeting and sleeping modes. Meeting mode of Moto Assist can bestarted by creating an event in your Calendar. Go to settings>meeting inAssist and choose [email protected] you want an event to NOT switch on meeting mode: while creating eventthere is an option show me as: available or busy. If you choose busy, meeting mode will be triggered. If you choose available then it won't be.In case you are on lollipop, press the volume key and you have threeoptions: All, priority and none. All is your normal or general mode with volume as you want. Minimum volumein this is vibrate.None is your silent mode. Nothing will ring when you put it on None.Priority is much like Moto Assist's meeting mode. You can decide who willring and at what volume. Controllable via settings>sound andnotification>interruptions. Alarms will always ring in this mode. Meetingmode works on lollipop in the same way. Only the feature to Disable orpreset Assist to NOT function for a particular event is not there, as stockCalendar is replaced by Google Calendar. And Google doesn't have thissetting. While some may think that not having previously set audio profiles isinconvenient, once you start to use it, you'll love it. It provides muchmore flexibility than the earlier system.

  • Administrative profile became temporary after Windows Update - Vista Edition Home Premium x 64

    Hello

I formatted my computer recently and downloaded several updates of Windows.  After one of them, I noticed that most of my office and all my Documents had disappeared.  I looked at the path for both and I noticed that they are both in a 'TEMP' folder (C:\Users\TEMP\Desktop, for example).  If I change, say, C:\Users\Chris\Desktop, all my files are there.  When I went to user accounts and you click on "Configure advanced user profile properties", I see the status of my profile (which is the administrator and the only one on this computer) is temporary.  My assumption is that one of the Windows updates did this, but I don't know nearly enough of these questions to find out what has really caused it or how to fix it.

    I also noticed that I am under SP1.  Can I download SP2?

In addition, I backed up my files, so I'm not worried about losing anything.  So, how can I repair my account so that it is more temporary?

    Thank you very much
