Binding of Photoshop EPS files with clipping paths

I'm under InDesign CS4 6.0.3 on a dual 2 GHz G5 with Mac OS X 10.5.7.

We have a workflow that involves files Photoshop EPS being placed in InDesign with object value path of Photoshopclipping path.  If the link is updated or re-issued of the moment, InDesign no longer the image of the boundaries of the way - either on the screen or export to PDF - although still illustrates object -> Clipping Path -> Options choose the type of game to Tracé Photoshop.  The only way I found to get the clipping path to apply fully to the image is to change the type of Tracé Photoshop to zero and return to the Trail Photoshop, while the Preview box is on.  I tried different combinations to transform the Apply Photoshop Clipping Path option on / off power at the time of the initial implementation and at the time of the reissue of links with no effect on this behavior.

Assuming that you use one format other than EPS and use transparency rather than masks are not in play right now, my questions are:

1. is this a known issue with InDesign CS4?  If so, can we expect a fix soon?

2. is there something that can be done on the side of the user who is less bulky than the workaround solution described above?

They can't fix what they don't know, however. File a formal bug report here:

    I saved a CMYK Photoshop EPS image with a clipping path. It is important in Adobe InDesign CS, but not in Freehand. All I get is a white box.
    I just read here that Freehand will not accept EPS files. Otherwise, how to get the path of PS clipping file in a document FH?

    Thanks Armadillo for the explanation. Not sure if I understood yet. I'll try it and report it in a few days.

    I am uncomfortable with FH and dread the idea of moving to Illustrator at any given time.

  • How to open an EPS file with embedded fonts / missing without losing the appearance of these fonts?

    I often work with graphics created by others in a variety of programs (Matlab, GnuPlot,...). Sometimes, they're sending me EPS files with fonts "embedded", but when I go to open them in the CS6, I get the box alerts missing fonts / substituted.

    I also tried ' site > flatten transparency...» "as you can do with a PDF file, but I encounter an error indicating"related work that interacts with transparency can be flattened. Incorporate the work (using the links Panel) before flattening. "When I try this, I get once the box alert missing fonts / substituted.

    Someone at - he encountered the same problem and find their way around it?

    I solved the problem, so I just came back to share:

    I open the EPS file in Mac preview and it has exported to PDF.

  • How to make Cut-Out with Clipping Path?

    Hello, help please?

    I need to provide a photo of an object that has been described as a 'Cut Out' and a Clipping Path must be included. Now I know this is not a rare condition, but I've never been asked before.  I tried to fill out the application, but unfortunately I was unsuccessful so far.

    OK... so with CS5. I cut the object using the feather (background selected then removed). I saved the way like a 'selection '. But what I ache to understand is this.

    The need is a jpeg file. And I know that if I flatten the file, then save in jpeg format, I'll lose the bottom of transparency and the article will be on white background. So if I send this file how the recipient find the clipping path - which I presume is the path that I saved in the paths tab?  Because when I flattened, I won't lose channels or paths. The captain that they will be an object of the required dimensions, they claimed, but it will be on a white background, therefore, he will not be able to simply 'fit' as a single item in any work they need to.

    Other elements were provided by other people and their file is a jpeg file, and he says he understands a clipping path.  So, I understand that this is possible, but I just can't get out!

    Sometimes I feel so dumb!

    Any help will be much appreciated

    Thanks in advance

    Mark

    I don't think that you can incorporate a clipping path into a jpg file, but you can send a png image

    with transparency based on web or low range of printing. (not recommended).

    The usual method is .psd or .tiff with transparency or the clipping integrated.

  • How to reverse the colors on an EPS file with a transparent background in Adobe InDesign CS6?

    Help!

    I am fairly new to InDesign and pretty basic in terms of my knowledge, but surely it can be done right?...

    I have a logo EPS black and white I want to be transparent and white to put on a different colored background? (I also have a JPEG version of the logo too if it makes a difference)?

    You can't - it is better to open the EPS file in its native program (probably Illustrator) and make the changes there and save it as a white version.

    Check the "transparency" when registering.

  • Export a page to the photoshop/illustrator file with the same structure of layer?

    Hello

    Currently freelancing for a company that create using the indesign work and I try to streamline the process of splitting the outside inside work is separate to import directly into damage layers. I know you can use a script to separate the outside layers and then export as interactive pdf, this opening in illustrator and then releasing to layers (build) I'm looking for an effective way more time to get to this point? Sometimes the work does not seem to import correctly into illustrator, because there clipping masks and weird stuff out there (their marketing team is huge and those working on the same things that make things way differently). I tried two script to split the work out in components, but they don't seem to not remember the position or just produce the element of the unique work.

    A typical file would be 640 x 640 page with multiple Indesign pages with 6 layers of each placed exactly and signed illustration of positional for. The perfect scenario would be to run a script to export directly into photoshop (keeping the culture and position) if it is then just one case to draw only a file directly in ae.

    There are various forums and I got asked in all of scripts but InDesign and in particular script is not my forte. It is one that could do the trick, but the link is no longer active: http://www.zenodesign.com/forum/PageToPSLayersV3.zip

    I know it may seem as it is lazy, but there are many things to animate by project in different sizes, so any help and pointers would be great!

    Thank you

  • End action to open the file with relative path

    Happy 4th of July!

    I work with Captivate 3 and try to open an HTML file at the end of a very short Captivate inro. The material goes on a CD.

    Everything works fine when I run it locally, but when I put it on a CD, concludes the flash part, there is an error message saying that the browser cannot find a file in the absolute path on my computer of composition.

    Now, I'm sure that people create these things just to watch it on their own computers. The point is to distribute them. I tried all the options in the preferences/Start and end screen and am only accumulate charge useless error CD. Beyond belief, the help of the program is useless. All it says are the options, you can see on the interface, it does not say what they mean.

    Again, all I want to do is to open a file that is the parent for SWF and HTML of Captivate files directory. The error message correctly identifies the absolute location, but how do you get this to point to a relative location? The file in the parent directory structure looks like the following:
    index.htm
    (folder) files of captivate
    ++ Captivate.htm
    ++ Captivate.swf
    ++ other captivate files

    I tell Captivate to open index.htm in the parent directory. No dice:
    Firefox can't find the file at C:/_Data/Captivate/index.htm.

    It's because I'm using another computer, as would all my viewers. Any help?

    Thanks Rick!
    You are an invaluable resource, thank you very much. I tried to type in the name of the file instead of select with the navigation tool and it worked very well. Why the tool go would bring a different result is a mystery to me. But it's working now, so all is well in demoland once more.

    Once again, thank you all for your generous help.

  • Permissions issue of Photoshop CS6 file with file created with Photoshop CC

    In our studio, we have several capture stations and workstations all connected to a file server. A problem occurs when a user of CC creates a file and saves it on the server and a user of CS6 opens the file. The CS6 user cannot save changes, just do in the file that was created in CC. The CS6 user can do a save slot without problem. There is also NO problem if the file has been created in CC is transferred to a new disc using the Finder in Mac OS X.

    Has anyone else had a similar issue or know a solution?

    Here's a cap of the error screen:

    Screen Shot 2015-01-09 at 9.35.17 AM.png

    We have solved our problem.

    After the Adobe updates running on the machine that uses CS6 and then restart the machine, our problem seems to have disappeared.

    Hope this helps others.

    Good luck.

  • Change links Panel to edit with Option in Lion of the Illustrator EPS files?

    We are upgrading to CS4/Leopard Lion/CS5. In our old OS Leopard we could establish files eps Illustrator open with Illustrator and PhotoShop eps files to open with Photoshop via the Get Info/change feature all. Since the update to Lion, it seems that we can do is no longer? If I change to an Illustrator eps, when I go to change a PhotoShop eps it changes it back then all the Illustrator files open in PhotoShop. I realize that the recommeded to save right now the Illustrator files option is as .ai files, but we have 17 years worth of logos customer Illustrator on files that are all in .eps format. Is there anyway to force the system to recognize them as such so that when we use the function change with in the links Panel, we can open it in the appropriate program?

    To answer the question: Yes, it will work to in InDesign. InDesign relies on the Finder or Explorer to open files related, which depends in turn Soxy do - so if you are "First Edition" on a link to a file imported, EPS Soxy will (default) intervene and ensure that the EPS opens in Illustrator or Photoshop.

  • [JS MAC] Problem of path of the file with special characters

    Hello

    I'm trying to declare the path of a file on a text file. One of the folders includes a special character such as "love".

    So, when I try to write a txt file with this path, it fails.

    Here are some that I've isolated for debugging.

    The problem appears on a Mac, but may be present on a PC as well.

    Given a file open in Indesign

    This file is placed in a subfolder named "love."

    Dittos var = line (app.activeDocument.fullName);
    var myFileFullName = theFile.fsName;
    var modifsArr = [];
    modifsArr.push (myFileFullName);
    var queue = txtFile (Folder.desktop + "/ test.txt");
    If (file (Folder.desktop + "/test.txt").exists is false))
    {
    var txtFile = new file (Folder.desktop + "/ test.txt");
    }

    txtFile.open ("e");
    txtFile.seek (0.2);
    modifsArr = modifsArr.join ("\r");
    theFile.write (modifsArr); Here the writing fails
    theFile.close ();

    How can I solve that?

    TIA

  • Automatic import of Images w / clipping paths

    All my images are automatically import in Indesign with clipping paths lit. I don't want to! Everything started happening (apparently at random) a few days ago. Happens if I place the image. Happens if I slip and fall. It happens in any way that I get the image in Indesign. Help!

    I don't know how to turn off once it is in Indesign, but I have THOUSANDS of images, I can't select each to disable the clipping path. I was hoping it was a setting/preference somewhere that I'm not aware of.

    [Left the forum Cloud/Installer generic for program specific forum... MOD]

    I checked into this a bit. There is an import adjustment that allows for your to choose or not to apply photoshop clipping masks in your TIFF. He must have been checked and is now applied to all.

    On the next tiff that import you, select The show Import Options before clicking OK. Uncheck the box Use Photoshop clipping paths . I think you'll just have to do this with a single file, and then it must carry over the placed files.

  • Need a script for the trails and clipping paths

    I have over a hundred images (.tif or.) TIF) which have cut a path, but the names are all different. In addition, some have been activated for clipping paths. I need all paths tracks/clipping named path 1. I found an old javascript to do this using ExtendScript Toolkit, but it does not work. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    var selFolder = Folder.selectDialog ("location of pictures to treat... ») ;

    var files = selFolder.getFiles (/.) TIF | TIF / I) ;// must change to different formats

    argument newPathName var = prompt ("Put your cutting path name that you want," "path 1,"Clipping name"")

    for (var f = 0; f < files.length; f ++)

    {

    var doc = app.open (files [f]);

    var numberOfPaths = doc.pathItems.length;

    for (variety p = 0; p < numberOfPaths; p ++)

    {

    If (doc.pathItems [p] .kind == PathKind.CLIPPINGPATH & & argument newPathName! = doc.pathItems [p] .name) doc.pathItems [p] .name = argument newPathName;

    }

    doc. Close (SaveOptions.SAVECHANGES);

    }

    It is not a translation problem, after all, some of the files had problems sharing & permissions so I changed them all to & read/write. So I ran two separate scripts because I do not know how to combine them into one. It's what worked:

    This is script is for the NORMALPATH railways:

    var selFolder = Folder.selectDialog ("location of pictures to treat... ») ;

    var files = selFolder.getFiles (/ \.tif$/i) ;// must change to different formats

    argument newPathName var = prompt ("Put your cutting path name you want", "path 1", "Path name")

    for (var f = 0; f)< files.length;="" f++="">

    {

    var doc = app.open (files [f]);

    var numberOfPaths = doc.pathItems.length;

    for (variety p = 0; p)< numberofpaths;="" p++="">

    {

    If (doc.pathItems [p] .kind == PathKind.NORMALPATH & argument newPathName! = doc.pathItems [p] .name) doc.pathItems [p] .name = argument newPathName;

    }

    doc. Close (SaveOptions.SAVECHANGES);

    }

    This is for the CLIPPINGPATH railways:

    var selFolder = Folder.selectDialog ("location of pictures to treat... ») ;

    var files = selFolder.getFiles (/ \.tif$/i) ;// must change to different formats

    argument newPathName var = prompt ("Put your cutting path name that you want," "path 1,"Clipping name"")

    for (var f = 0; f)< files.length;="" f++="">

    {

    var doc = app.open (files [f]);

    var numberOfPaths = doc.pathItems.length;

    for (variety p = 0; p)< numberofpaths;="" p++="">

    {

    If (doc.pathItems [p] .kind == PathKind.CLIPPINGPATH & argument newPathName! = doc.pathItems [p] .name) doc.pathItems [p] .name = argument newPathName;

    }

    doc. Close (SaveOptions.SAVECHANGES);

    }

    I didn't have a single file with two paths inside and a dialogue has come, and I changed it to track 2, no sweat.

    Thanks for all your help!
