BIOS dv5-1150

HP laptop Pavilion Dv5-1150us comes with VISTA will not start after the BIOS update.

My BIOS version is "INSYDELH20 worm. F.09' and "Intel Core 2Duo" processor Type.

Can someone tell me what files are needed (.bin, .ini,. FD) and where I can download them, to restore my laptop?

Reminder: The laptop was converted from VISTA about 2 years ago for Windwos 7.  Everything worked until updating BIOS, all pass test hardware OK, I removed the battery, also tried the windows key + B, etc. Did not help. I have set up the laptop to boot from the CD-ROM, bought VISTA recovery CD from HP.  But nothing not to the laptop after the 'HP Invent' screen then the gray screen. Using another office, I downloaded "SP42819.exe" on a bootable flash drive. However, I can't flag at a command prompt to run anything.  Thank you.

Hi tredway,.

At this point if the BIOS to restore (Win key) and B, recovery, safe mode and using the recovery CD do not work, then you are in the search of formatting and reinstalling your operating system.

  • HP: Correct BIOS dv5!

    The problem

The HP Pavilion dv5 (and other similar models) has a BIOS bug that causes the hard drive to stop working after the release of the standby mode.

This bug is only apparent when you are running one operating system other than Vista. Some models have already been fixed by the HP BIOS updates but the dv5 remains broken.

What we want: HP to fix this bug in the next version of the dv5 firmware (as they have done with other models)

    The Argument

We understand that Vista only is supported on the dv5, however, is no reason to not to repair a defective BIOS.

There are currently more than 100 registered only Ubuntu Linux users who suffer from this bug, all HP customers. As a community, we have been diagnosing this problem for months, we even asked the help of an expert in the Linux driver for the Intel AHCI architecture.

We do not seek to return the ball. Only after months of diagnosis and testing we have reached the point where we believe that the answer lies only with HP.

We do not support Linux. We are simply asking for material support of the product we have purchased from HP.

    Details

After the release of the mode that it will activate the SATA drive of suspension, the system must be restarted.

The dv7 (more precisely the 1050) has had this problem but it has been resolved by updating to firmware F21. The dv5, however, continued to have this problem, all of the updates to the BIOS.

Details about the bug in Ubuntu Linux can be found here at https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/301353

Details about the bug regarding the Linux kernel can be found at http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=12276

Just to remind, the dv5 will suspend / resume under Linux, however the SATA drive will not continue to work after this process.

    Demand

Naturally, we were rejected repeatedly by the front line of HP support services as we mentioned the word "Linux", but all we ask is the consideration of a person who can fairly assess our claims. Naturally a 1st level support person, under no circumstances, will be able to make an informed decision on an issue of such specialist.

Can someone in the BIOS HP development team please review this bug for us?

I hope that this will be noticed by people of good support from HP and our claim will be considered by a person who is authorized to do.

    Paul Swanson

(The owner of HP Pavilion dv5, user of Ubuntu)

It has been reported on the Ubuntu Bug report #301353 and the kernel Linux 12276 bug report that this long-standing issue date with the dv5 and HDX series, was set by a BIOS HP recent update.

If you have one of these laptops, please apply the latest updates to the BIOS from HP for your specific model.

I would like to say a big "thank you" for HP employees that makes that happen, you simply pass on a message or involved in the release of fix, we appreciate all your support of the Linux community!

And of course, a big "thank you" goes to all those of you who got on this forum and showed your support!

PS. If you have a laptop dvXXXX/HDXx NO and you encounter suspend / resume problems, please start a new thread and forum, pick up a bug report corresponding to your choice of Linux distribution or start a new; good luck, it seems that HP are listening.

  • Desktop HP HPE h9-1150 Phoenix: can you do a update the BIOS of Windows 8 while on a Windows 10 operating system?

As indicated in the title, you can do a BIOS in Windows 8 update while on a Windows 10 operating system?

I have a Phoenix desktop h9-1150 and am trying to install a new GPU GTX970. There is no updated BIOS for Windows 10 at this time, but there is an update of my current BIOS 7.07 for Windows 8 OS. Can I do that Windows 8 updated safely?

Normally the flasher will check to verify the operating system, but I can't on this one.  It does not separate out ROM file, even if it does not check if the operating system you can always extract the file BIOS and flash BACK.  I would try it first in windows.  It will tell you if there is a control in place.

  • HP Pavilion DV5 - 1235dx Bios Driver for windows 8.1

Hi, I can't find in services upgrade hp, an option for my operation system windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit. And now? Help me please! I need to update the Bios of my HP Pavilion DV5-1235dx.

What is pass or don't pass don't not with Windows 8.1 you think that an update of the BIOS would help? The latest version of the BIOS is F.21 and HP has not issued any supported Windows 8/8.1 for this model, which was originally a Vista machine.

  • Change the bios on my hp pavilion dv5-2135dx of 1333mz to 1866mz on the speed of RAM.

I have a hp pavilion dv5-2135dx laptop and I would like to go into the bios and change the speed of the RAM ddr3 1333mz to 1866mz.  I bought two chips hiperx plug-and-play of the kingston ddr3 4gig and they are set up to accept the upgrade to speed the1866mz.  I need to know if it is possible to do this procedure and if this is the case, what is the procedure to make this change.

I have a hp dv5-2135dx and I would also change the computer's bios to speed my RAM in 1033, because it is the actual number of the speed of memory ram bios shows that memory 4gig-2 chips can be improved is 1866.  HP, why don't you update the bios to accept the speed of the ram of 1866, if memory chips can be accelerated.  I don't think the upgrade is so difficult to create by upgrading the bios of your Indian coders geniuses.

OS: Dual boot Linux Mint 16 and Windows 7 64-bit (no HP recovery partition) edition

HP recovery discs: I have them, but cannot use them because the DVD laser does not (CD only)

    Symptoms:

    • While in the normal conditions of use, screen has suddenly had vertical lines black and gray
    • After reboot, the computer lights up and the fan works, but the screen is black
    • CTRL key flashes white light: 2 flashes, pause and repeat (BIOS corruption)

Hello, I'm recovering from the corruption of BIOS, hoping that it is not a failed mobo.

I downloaded the latest BIOS update for my system, but I can't this file to install on an external USB key using HP instructions to restore the BIOS.

To 1.11 step, I don't get the "HP system BIOS Update Utility" screen. Instead, I get this:

    My questions:

    1. is there an easy way to get this .exe on a USB? (I tried 3 computers and 3 cards USB, WTH then?)

    2. If not, can I just unzip and create a bootable USB in another program by copy/pasting the BIOS file?

    3. is there anything else I should try before flashing the BIOS?

Thanks in advance for your help. ^^

UPDATE: the "BIOS error" was in fact the video card that failed due to repeated overheating. The repair shop, replace the video card and repaired the overheating problem (I don't ask how), and my computer is like new.

For those who have a similar with their computer, my error "BIOS" problem (as it is coded by flashing lights of my computer) turns out to be a video card has failed.

The repair shop, said that what happens when computers overheat frequently, which mine did. Thus, they have changed the video card and solved the overheating problem, and my computer is in working condition.

  • dv5-1225, I'd like install some new ram, but before that I buy everything, new bios will take ddr3?

I have a computer laptop dv5 - 1225-ca and I want to increase the ram, however, I have lived many resources and nothing indicates firmly that this laptop will not accept ram ddr3, however came with the laptop RAM is ddr2. RAM DDR2 is twice the price now adays since it is not developed much since the new age is almost compleetly dominated ddr3 so I do not suspect the price will come down soon, im just curious to know if I should replace stand sims with ddr3 with the update of the bios most recent will be I fine id prefer not to pay for the higher price until I tracked down an answer and im not going to pay for ddr3 ram just set my curiosity incase it dosnt work

    Hello:

DDR3 memory does not work in a motherboard with DDR2 memory locations.

Memory is not compatible and to stop people to settle the poorly rated DDR memory, they cut the slots in different places.

So, if you want to upgrade the memory of your machine, you need to stick with the memory modules DDR2.

Use the Crucial memory scanner to determine what type of memory you need.

I can not find the specifics.  I think the DDR2 PC2-6400 and your page of plug product indicates that you can install up to 8 GB with a 64 bit OS.

    http://www.crucial.com/systemscanner/

So it's the laptop DDR2 memory that I use for the installation of 2 x 4 GB.

    http://www.Newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=N82E16820220382

Of course, prices have increased upward. I think the last time I paid for these chips they were $45.00 each.

  • BIOS HP Pavilion dv5 problem

Hello my dear, I have a laptop model

    HP Pavilion dv5-1020el

I forgot the bios password for my laptop. If I reset bios password through Master reset code.

When I enter the wrong password, I got system disable error and code 8-digit code is 84005191

and I have also mentioned that the model number now if someone help me and give me the reset code, I'll be very grateful.

To reset the BIOS password, you must clear the CMOS settings. To clear the CMOS settings, you must remove the RTC battery and place it after 2 minutes. Here is the link to the Service Manual of your laptop:

Please refer to page 59 to remove and put the RTC battery.

  • White screen of HP Pavilion dv5 1002nr start-up and error code lights flashes twice, corrupt BIOS!

Equipped with a corrupt BIOS, I struggle to try to replace the BIOS of the motherboard.

The processor is a AMD Turion series.

Question, can anyone tell me definitively when the BIOS chip is located on the motherboard.  It seems to be next to the RTC battery on a piece of white under layer in the cutting of a transparent plastic layer.

Also, is this the only way to save the laptop from the corrupted BIOS will not work the POSITION for me to get into the BIOS to try to restore or update?

It is laptop a grandson and grandpas still inherit this type of problems.

I'd appreciate any help, instructions or information on this seemingly hopeless situation.

    Thank you

You are right about the location of the BIOS chip, this is a chip of 8 spindles/leg next to the battery.  The only other option if you are sure it's bios is to replace the motherboard.  The bios chip is on ebay for $20 to $30.  I have the same problem with the same laptop and I think I'll just bite the bullet and replace the motherboard, if the problem was caused by overheating it could have other problems that surface after replacing the bios chip and you will be chasing ghosts.  The motherboard is also on ebay for $ 119 to $ 175, for the moment.  I hope this helps.
