bios problem 4540 s and more

Is in serious trouble with my 4540 s, which is about two years old.  The bios seems to be completely dysfunctional.  I can't via Esc, or pressing the key which I want, for example the F9 key to select the boot device.  The machine runs on Ubuntu linux and I found out that I deleted the partition HP_TOOLS both from the recovery partition.  I have now restored the partition HP_TOOLS, but cannot fix the bios.

The machine indicates that the hard drive is defective, even if I can apparently read it without problem on my Mac.  However the machine will not hop on the hard drive to try to boot from the drive internal CD/DVD, or a USB CD/DVD drive.  I have not yet tried a usb key.

After a period of running, I found I could not, for example, delete emails in T-bird, by clicking on an icon would not open the program and I could not close some programs.  Sometimes the only way to turn off the machine is by holding down the power button.  At present, start not at all, but simply traverses the verification of simplified hardware and he is there with the HP logo on the screen when I'm out of the race.

Remove each chip memory of 4 GB or placing them in a replacement window has no difference.

I'd appreciate any help with more tests that I'm able to perform in order to identify the problem.  I wonder if it may be the motherboard, because I guess that the bios is there.  However, I would be much more certain before I think to buy a new motherboard.

TIA

OK, I'm reaching here... not that familiar with the unit that you are handling.  But the machine can be configured for UEFI Secure Boot, but you are trying to boot from old media?

First: try to switch on/off the machine while pressing F9.  Select the legacy device (no UEFI) / media option that you are trying to boot from.

If this does not work, take a look at HP - Secure Boot - Troubleshooting computers (don't worry about the fact that it is a doc of Windows 8), and then search for "cannot boot from a CD or a DVD.  Follow the instructions to adjust the machine to boot from an inherited resource and to ensure that the legacy resource appears in the order of precedence before the hard drive.

THX...

  • Problems of performance and more recent PPAPI Flash Player free?

    Hello

I recently noticed some pretty serious performance issues in the latest versions of PPAPI Flash Player in Chrome.

    I use:

    • Windows 7 64 bit
    • Version of chrome 41.0.2272.101 m (64-bit)
    • Flash Player Version PPAPI: 17.0.0.134

I noticed a sharp decline in performance recently when updating of Chrome, I've been using Away3D 4.1 (using Stage3D) to create a series of generative Art experiments, if you check out the one below that I found in Internet Explorer and Firefox (using the version of the Flash Player NPAPI), the performance of FPS on my system is about 35-40 fps for me , but in drive PPAPI of Chrome, it fell drastically to all about 6 or 7 fps.

Recently I updated my version of Chrome, so this is a recent change... around a few weeks ago, that this content was working fine in Chrome, around 35-40 fps even I get in other browsers.

Did anyone else out there see these performance issues with recent versions of the Chrome PPAPI Flash Player?

That's the good news, thank you for the update.  We work closely with the team of Chrome, and there were corrections of the performance of both sides.  I have to debug it to understand which give, but it is good to know that things are trending in the right direction.  We would certainly reach parity with NPAPI in terms of performance (he has often a trade-off between security and performance), and we will continue to target for earnings opportunities wherever they present themselves.

  • HP Laserjet Pro M201dw: "then I explained the problem to management and they said not to buy all the HP printers more."

Our two new printers Laserjet Pro M201dw are not recognized on the office network.   I have spent hours trying to understand this and posted questions on the forum Support HP, but without response. They became more disadvantages than thay are worth.  And that's enough.  Then I explained the problem to management and they said 'don't buy it not all HP printers more.'

    Thanks for the suggestions.

I tried to BootP and disable ipv6 on a printer and at first, it worked (finally).  But then, after having unplugged and restarted, he returned to the ip address of connection no.

So finally, I noticed and changed the setting of the link of "Automatic" to '100TX' speed full - and that seems to have solved the problem of intermittency.  I've converted and turn it back on, unplugged, etc., and it maintains the connection and ip address.

Do not want to play with something that works, I can't say with certainty if the speed of one link would have solved the problem (probably not), but it seems that while your excellent suggestions finally established a network connection, the setting of explicit link speed was necessary to maintain the connection.

Thanks for your help in this matter!

  • Problem Manager of horizontal scrolling for OS 6.0 and more?

Hi all. I have a problem with the Manager of Horizontal scrolling. Every thing worked for OS 5.0 and below, the question arises for OS 6.0 and more. For example, check the following:

I have 2 HFM added to the optimization of resources.

    HFM1 - contains 2 buttons.

HFM2 - contains 6 buttons, and the user can scroll between the buttons.

The questions is when user keep hitting the right key, when the focus is on the second button of HFM1, then the content of HFM2 scrolls to the right - what is bad behavior.

Check the screenshot for Simulator 9810 (when scrolling to the right inside the HFM which contains the test1, test2 scrolls the second HFM):

Scrolling in a managing scrools in another, why this happen and how that might be solved?

    Thank you in advance.

Finally, I found a solution using ScrollChangeListener (SCL).

So what I did I set the SCL for HFM2, then:

public void scrollChanged(final Manager manager, int newHorizontalScroll,
                int newVerticalScroll)
        {

//----> fixing the issue when one HFM scroll another one for OS 6.0 and above
            int fwf = manager.getFieldWithFocusIndex();
            if (fwf == -1)
                manager.setHorizontalScroll(0);
//<---- fixing the issue when one HFM scroll another one for OS 6.0 and above

    }

Thanks to all in any case.

Yes, there may be exceptions depending on the manufacturer.  Some of them may have updates VBIOS that will allow their cards in order to work with a Legacy BIOS.  I know that EVGA has a few updates for their cards.

  • Start by taking 5 minutes (old Presario 2190US) + other BIOS problems

    Hello

My son has his Compaq Presario 2190US more, and it has multiple problems ...

I think that there is a problem with the power connector.  I have it jiggle until I can get it to turn on.  I'll fix it eventually, but this isn't the reason for this post...

The problem is that when I get to turn it on, it takes about 5 minutes to access the initial screen of HP.

Then (for example), if I choose to go to the configuration, it displays "Enter Setup" and then takes about 2 minutes to get to the BIOS Setup.

In the configuration of the BIOS on the main screen, there are a number of fields (SERIES, UUID, etc) which have distorted characters.

So, I made a set defaults, then recorded and the computer restarted.

I configured a floppy disk bootable with BIOS flash and was able to boot to that, and he said that she flashed the BIOS with success.

However, even after you restart the system, when he started, he was again 5 minutes to get the HP logo page, and when I go into the BIOS (a new 2 minute more) configuration, is it still showing the characters scrambled for the same fields.

I was really hoping that the flash of the BIOS would have taken care of the garbled characters and especially, really slow boots, but he didn't, so I wonder what else could be the cause who and what to do about this?

FYI, I can get it to boot Windows XP, and it works very well under Windows.  Also in the BIOS, I ran the hard drive test, and that worked well.

    Any ideas?

    Thank you

    Jim

    Hello

    Something strange, but wonderful !

OK, so I started to disassemble the laptop.

First thing was to remove the battery, right?

    So I did it.

When I pulled the battery, I noticed that he felt "burned" (you know what I mean), so I try then turn on the machine, with only the adapter, but no battery.

    Heck!

The thing IMMEDIATELY turned and got to the BIOS screen within seconds.

And when I went into the BIOS, the SERIES, the UUID, etc no longer appear as characters scrambled!

Restarted several times, because I thought as I imagined, but it starts with Windows XP now in less than a minute.

So, I guess that (1) the battery is bad and was at the origin of the BIOS maybe loop for 5 minutes, etc.

    That's all.

Vista and Windows 7 updated drivers love then here's how update the most important.

This is my generic how updates of appropriate driver:

This utility, it is easy see which versions are loaded:

-Free - DriverView utility displays the list of all device drivers currently loaded on your system.
For each driver in the list, additional useful information is displayed: load address of the driver,
Description, version, product name, company that created the driver and more.
    http://www.NirSoft.NET/utils/DriverView.html

For drivers, visit manufacturer of emergency system and of the manufacturer of the device that are the most common.
Control Panel - device - Graphics Manager - note the brand and complete model
your video card - double - tab of the driver - write version information. Now, click on update
Driver (this can do nothing as MS is far behind the certification of drivers) - then right-click.
Uninstall - REBOOT it will refresh the driver stack.

Repeat this for network - card (NIC), Wifi network, sound, mouse, and keyboard if 3rd party
with their own software and drivers and all other main drivers that you have.

Now in the system manufacturer (Dell, HP, Toshiba as examples) site (in a restaurant), peripheral
Site of the manufacturer (Realtek, Intel, Nvidia, ATI, for example) and get their latest versions. (Look for
BIOS, Chipset and software updates on the site of the manufacturer of the system here.)

Download - SAVE - go to where you put them - right click - RUN AD ADMIN - REBOOT after
    each installation.

Always check in the Device Manager - drivers tab to be sure the version you actually install
presents itself. This is because some restore drivers before the most recent is installed (sound card drivers
in particular that) so to install a driver - reboot - check that it is installed and repeat as
    necessary.

Repeat to the manufacturers - BTW in the DO NOT RUN THEIR SCANNER device - check
    manually by model.

Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.

  • Does not start, need more and more memory, then crashes. It is SOLVED by deleting DB, panacea.dat, foldertree.json CAUSE global messages: uknown

As a user of Thunderbird long term (currently version 38.2.0 on Win7 x 86 US) today, I caught myself (negatively) by the following problem: at the launch at the start of Thunderbird, the window will appear last closed (and for a short while, I see my files, etc., as left behind, during the last closure of Thunderbird), but then it turns into State "Not responding" (nothing works). When we look in the Task Manager, I see that Thunderbird seizes more and more memory, before this date - after a few seconds - crashing. I really hope that for some help fast, if possible (I desperately need a solution for e-mail job well - ideally the one I had, i.e. Thunderbird with my settings).

    What I tried:
-Uninstall Thunderbird and install it again (did not help)
-Uninstall Thunderbird and install an older version (I tried 38.1.0, 38.0.2, and 31.8.0 - nothing has worked)
-from Thunderbird in SafeMode (same problem)
-from Thunderbird in safe mode of Windows (same problem)
-from Thunderbird in offline mode (did not help)

My main question to know how to solve this problem, includes questions such as
? Should I try to delete some files of Thunderbird and try again (which ones?)?
? Can I use a command line "tricks" to get Thunderbird started?
    Etc.

    Thanks for your help!

I think I solved my problem: delete messages from global reach DB and panacea.dat foldertree.json helped - once Thunderbird started again interactively and now I can restore my data files/messages.

After that I take it, the computer will restart immediately.  It wasn't a huge problem until my laptop started beeping 3 times at startup.  In the end, I thought that it was a situation of RAM, and he just needs to be replaced.  This is my go - to fix if the beeps never started again (which they would be weekly or more).  My problem got worse and worse and the beeps return earlier and faster.  I'm constantly afraid closures hard are eating away at my computer and I don't know what to do.  Every now and then, the aura of bars, crossing, screen to enter the upper left corner.
