Ouch! Please do not yell at us. We can hear you if you type normally,
    in different cases.

    Number of points:

    1. If you delete backups, you lose the ability to return to the
dates, it has been created. If it's safe, it's for you to decide.

2 If you are running out of space, almost everything you short of
purchase of another hard disk, is at best a palliative. Deletion of
something you free up space, but you will certainly soon
find yourself in the same situation.
If you need more disk space, buy a disc anymore. They are very
    cheap these days.

    3. If you save on your single drive (or even a second internal
by car) you provide yourself with only a small amount of
protection. I do not recommend backup your only or a second
removable hard drive not because it leaves you susceptible to
the simultaneous loss of the original and backup on a good number of the most
the common dangers: serious power, close to the lightning seeds, virus
    attacks, even stolen computer.

In my view, secure backup must be on a unguarded and removable media
in the computer. For backup really secure (required, for example, if the)
the life of your company depends on your data), you should have several
generations of backup and at least one of these generations must be
    stored off-site.

  • Back ups

    Dear Experts,

I use a compaq laptop Presario CQ56, with Windows 7 HOme Premium, Service Pack 1.

Each week, I making a comeback to the top by opening all programs, Maintenance, backup.  It is a Sandisk memory stick.   Every 3 months or so, I use the recording feature space to remove the previous back ups.  However, these previous back ups are grouped, with a start and completion, which means I have to delete my entire back ups and then run back to the top.

    Q. What is normal or everyone back up to have its own date.   If it should, how do I program it to do it please?

Thank you very much, best regards, fisherman.

    Hello

In Outlook (with the office suite), there is a function called Archive. You can use this function, say once a month, and you can keep a meaningful description for each file to archive. You can open and delete older emails or remove the entire file.

    Kind regards.

  • Back ups in Time Machine visible yet unreachable

    Hello

    Question:

Is there a way to access manually back ups that are visible in the timeline, but that Time Machine won't allow me to open? These files still exist somewhere in their own country?

    Context:

Before the update to El Capitan, I deleted some of my Office Word files and cleaned my download folder. So I backed up my files to a new external hard drive because my previous got erased and reformatted (due to it being plugged as a storage for my Xbox One). Now, I realize that I really need one of the deleted Word files. I can see a recent upward into the line from time to time Machine which must contain the file that I need, but Time Machine won't let me go any further that what is stored on the new external hard drive. Previous back ups still exist somewhere on my internal HD? Or did I see some representations of time that I backed up my files to an external hard drive?

I tried different programs as Data Rescue 4 data recovery and file recovery, but nothing helped.

Time Machine, please press the shift-command-C key combination. The windshield will show the mounted volumes. All snapshots should now be accessible. Select the one you want and search for files to restore.

If you need to restore from a backup of the hidden user library folder, first select a snapshot, and then press shift-command-G. A go to the folder dialog box opens. In this document, you enter the path to the folder. The dialog box will help you by automatically filling parts of the path when you start typing.

The path starts with the slash character ("/"). Enter that. The rest of the parts is separated by slashes.

The next part is the date and time of the current snapshot. Enter a '2', and the rest of the date should be filled in automatically. Press the right arrow key to access the end of the path. Enter a slash to start the next game.

Next is the volume name (usually "Macintosh HD" unless you assigned a different name.) Start typing, then jump to the end and enter a slash.

The next part is 'Users', followed by a slash.

Then is your short user name. It is also the name of your home folder, which is represented by an icon of the House in the sidebar of a Finder window.

Finally, enter "Library", and then press return. You should now be in the library folder. From there, you can move like in the Finder. You can also select another snapshot of the same folder.

  • How to drain large amounts of back ups in trash in el capitan

To start I am not that computer savvy, but I have a lot of back ups on my computer in El Capitan, that I need to remove.  A single file will prepare (takes forever) and then it displays an error and will not delete.  They are in my garbage can.  Any suggestions? Thank you!

What you mean exactly you have 'a heap of back ups on my computer in El Capitan I need to delete'? OS X do not save on himself, that's why I'm confused. If you have data that you no longer need, and then drag to the trash and then empty the trash.

However, if you tell your Time Machine backups a backup drive you need more, then Please leave alone TM. TM will remove automatically old backups when the HD is almost his ability. If you try to "think in ' Time Machine probably dirty it it and having to start all over again.

  • Why my OS took so much space and how can I turn off automatic Back-ups?

Hi, I'm opperating on Windows Vista Basic Home Edition on top of a HP540 Tower, which has 160 GB hard drive.

Except for the 20 GB Partition, I stayed with 129 GB to install a fresh on o/s.

After installing my o/s and updates the 7Gig to clean Documents saved from after installation.

I was left with 99 Go!

    Something wrong without a doubt!

Even more, I'm losing memory on my hard drive like there is no tomorrow, 30 GB in 4 days!

It seems every time I'm streaming videos, or even just to watch videos, an external hard drive.

    I lose about 1 or 2 GB!

Using a number of antivirus programs, I scanned for a virus, but all programs concluded that the

the system is clean and that there is no virus!

This led me to believe that the system backup and restore several coppies of his car, then

I have used the disk clean up to remove all but the most recent backup file.

All of a sudden my disk space is increased from 69BG to 99 GB.

I still don't know what happened to the other Go 20 or 21.

Although this seems to be a difficulty, with in a few minutes that the backup has been busy writing far still and in

15 minutes that I had fallen to 97.3 GB and deminuishing.

Why my OS took so much space and how can I turn off automatic Back-ups?

    Thank you very much!

Nothing wrong as far as I can see.  A Windows installation will take about 20 GB to 30 GB so it's fine, and you will lose even more space for virtual memory to system management file, hibernation, system restore points file and so on.  Although the "30 GB in four days" is perhaps a little on the high side, considering that you have just installed Windows, there are a lot of household, creating files and so forth go on these days.

With the help of disk cleanup to delete these files from system restore is a bad choice, because they are created to ensure the security of your system and allow you to recover from any problems that may require them.

If disk space is as big a problem to get a bigger hard drive and let the system restore to do its job.

  • Windows 7 Home Premium... weekly back ups fail, get the message "backup failed."

Recently my regular weekly back ups fail to find. Everything seems to go well until maybe halfway through the procedure when the backup stops & I get message "backup failed." Unfortunately, did not keep a note of relative error code... no useful guidance please.

I'm glad to hear that you managed to solve your problem.

Flash drives are a medium of reasonable storage but not the best. I recommend that get you a disk 2.5 "500 GB hard in a USB enclosure. They cost less than $60.00. Here's why:

    • They tend to be more reliable than flash drives.
    • They have a much greater capacity.
    • You can (and should!) use them to store an image of your installation.

On this last point: this time you could solve your problem with system restore and FixIt. The next time you is maybe not so lucky. You may need to do a full reload of Windows which is tedious and often exceeding the capabilities of the user. By creating a picture now, you will be able to restore Windows to its current state, anything.

You begin the process of creating image via the control panel / backup and restore.

If you already have a backup flash drive then you could alternate backups between the flash and drive 500 GB. That would give you a rock solid backup system!

  • Win 7 back up will not overwrite old back ups

Is it possible to get Win 7 to replace the old back ups? I put the program to the top of all the ways I can think of and even re installed windows. It fills my 2 TB HD in a few months and I even gave it its own 500 GB HD but it stop backup less than a month because of disk space is low and continues giving me warnings on this subject. I put it only back up system files and tried to 'Let Windows manage space for backups (GB 139,73 maximum) history' and 'keep only the last image system and reduce the space used by backup '. I thought I had something wrong set the first time, but after formatting all readers, then re - install windows let him do everything on its own and always it fills up the hard drive and stops working until I have to manually go in and destroy old backups.
