Back ups in Time Machine visible yet unreachable

Hello

Question:

Is there a way to access manually back ups that are visible in the timeline, but that Time Machine won't allow me to open? These files still exist somewhere in their own country?

Context:

Before the update to El Capitan, I deleted some of my Office Word files and cleaned my download folder. So I backed up my files to a new external hard drive because my previous got erased and reformatted (due to it being plugged as a storage for my Xbox One). Now, I realize that I really need one of the deleted Word files. I can see a recent upward into the line from time to time Machine which must contain the file that I need, but Time Machine won't let me go any further that what is stored on the new external hard drive. Previous back ups still exist somewhere on my internal HD? Or did I see some representations of time that I backed up my files to an external hard drive?

I tried different programs as Data Rescue 4 data recovery and file recovery, but nothing helped.

Time Machine, please press the shift-command-C key combination. The windshield will show the mounted volumes. All snapshots should now be accessible. Select the one you want and search for files to restore.

If you need to restore from a backup of the hidden user library folder, first select a snapshot, and then press shift-command-G. A go to the folder dialog box opens. In this document, you enter the path to the folder. The dialog box will help you by automatically filling parts of the path when you start typing.

The path starts with the slash character ("/"). Enter that. The rest of the parts is separated by slashes.

The next part is the date and time of the current snapshot. Enter a '2', and the rest of the date should be filled in automatically. Press the right arrow key to access the end of the path. Enter a slash to start the next game.

Next is the volume name (usually "Macintosh HD" unless you assigned a different name.) Start typing, then jump to the end and enter a slash.

The next part is 'Users', followed by a slash.

Then is your short user name. It is also the name of your home folder, which is represented by an icon of the House in the sidebar of a Finder window.

Finally, enter "Library", and then press return. You should now be in the library folder. From there, you can move like in the Finder. You can also select another snapshot of the same folder.

1 n ° put them on a regular external drive and the value of Time Machine to back up as well; the files you want to keep should be at least two disks in case one of them goes down.

    2. they will not be usable until the restoration.

The issue of the 'readers G' does not complete the back-ups to Time Machine has been resolved?

You will need to contact G-Technology in this regard. It is not a known problem of Time Machine. Do you repartition the drive using the GUID and the reformat Mac OS Extended journaled? You will need to do if you want to use with Time Machine, otherwise it will try to use the backup software pre-installed.

  • How to back up to external hard drive using time machine

I just bought a new drive external toshiba with 500 GB of memory. When I tried to back up my computer last night through a time machine, I thought that it worked, but when I woke up this morning, time machine told me that my oldest and the most recent backup is none which means that it does not cross. I tried again this morning but after hitting "back up now" time machine prepares the backup, and then start it, giving me a ridiculously ETA such a 15 hours, then never completely complete the back which is really confusing so I do not know what to do.

  • Can I back up files with time machine iCloud. Seems not so, are there alternatives?

I want files on mac, in the clouds and on local separate media seems quite difficult to achieve for a sensible backup plan.

I looked for solutions and there are various tips on if time machine backup of documents Mobile ~/Library but I can access in time machine.

Presumably, someone has solved this problem - hopes!

If you have active disk iCloud it written copies of the files in the cloud on your local disk, these in turn are backed up by Time Machine, you don't need to do anything else to make it work.

If you need to access your documents using Time Machine backup do you via the Finder > iCloud drive and not in the hidden mobile documents folder.

  • Use Time Machine to back up files in Windows

Can I back up files of the window automatically to the Time Machine in the Mac Help. I want to only backup data from applications.

    Thnx.

Time Machine is not 100% reliable in the backup and restore of Virtual Machines and I would never use Time Machine to back up Virtual Machines and would exclude the folder containing my Virtual Machines to be backed up by Time Machine!

That said, if the files in question are outside of the Virtual Machine and inside the OS X Filesystem, for example in your Home folder, then Time Machine will back up what the file system of the host that is not excluded.

Go to Finder and select your user folder. With this Finder window as the windshield, select Finder/display/display options for presenting or order - J.  When the display options opens, check "show the library folder. This should make your visible user library folder in your user folder.  Select Library/Mail. Enter Time Machine.

  • com.vmware.backupReenabled overrides exclusion of Time Machine?

    Hey-

I have a number of images of computer virtual stored in a folder that I have excluded from the backup in Time Machine.  I noticed that every time, I have worked with one of them, Time Machine has a few Go to save the next time it works (vs normal < 100 MB).  I found that many files have the attribute "com.vmware.backupReenabled" set to 1, that I understand is the surplus of the VMWare upgrade through a few versions that explicitly disabled then re-enabled backup of VMWare images in Time Machine.

The attribute is visible by using the command "ls-@' on the .vmwarevm file and most of the content files in like this:"

    laptop: XP Pro SP3 myuser$ ls-l @.

    Total 0

    drwxrwxrwx @ 51 myuser mygroup 1734 Apr 8 20:20 Windows XP Professional.vmwarevm

    com.vmware.backupReenabled 1

This attribute overrides the fact that I set up Time Machine to ignore its parent folder and cause the entire file and its (few GB) files can be saved when they were changed (aka when I run the virtual machine)?

    Thank you!

    -Mason

I found that many files have the attribute "com.vmware.backupReenabled" set to 1, that I understand is the surplus of the VMWare upgrade through a few versions that explicitly disabled then re-enabled backup of VMWare images in Time Machine.

Fix. It is there for historical reasons - older versions of 10.5 would freeze the system if the merger was running during a Time Machine backup, so we excluded all virtual machines of backed up by Time Machine. When Apple fixed their impasse we re-enabled backup Time Machine, and also to set this flag to tell ourselves that we did.

This attribute overrides the fact that I set up Time Machine to ignore its parent folder and cause the entire file and its (few GB) files can be saved when they were changed (aka when I run the virtual machine)?

This attribute is used that as a note to ourselves, it should have no effect on the behavior of the time Machine.

  • Delete older backups time machine from the server

I have a small number of iMacs here that back up using Time Machine on our local network to an external hard drive on an iMac running server. I added a second external hard drive and I say most of the Mac to use instead. Once they have saved once the new drive safely - how can I remove the old backup of the first disc? Is it safe to just delete the sparsebundle to it? Or is there a way to do it properly

    TIA

    Andy

Yes, it is safe to delete the sparsebundle in the old media from backup after you remove as the backup location and create your 1st upward on the new location. Since your iMac is now pointing to the new backup media, they are more associated in the former. If you have no other Mac backup on old media, you can simply reformat.

  • Cannot find files on clone super duper, I can restore from Time Machine backup?

First of all, my apologies for cross posting.

I hope I can explain my situation with enough clarity so that someone can help out me. I feel a little bit of panic.

I've had a Mac mini that I sold so need to wipe. I first backed up using Time Machine on an external hard drive. Then, I used Super Duper to clone on a second hard drive. I didn't need a bootable copy of the training, but need access to data, applications, etc. on it from time to time. My intension was to access the data I cloned and stored on the hard drive of my current Macbook Pro. Well, that day came and I went to access my cloned copy of the mini and only see a list of users. I'm not able to find files, documents, and etc.even if I use spotlight to search for. So my questions are:

    1. Can I view the contents of the double machine differently to see more than a list of users? (that is WHERE IS MY THING?)
      1. I have error somehow in my approach?
      2. If I made the mistake with the super duper close, can I restore my time machine to the top of an external drive on another external drive? I want to restore my MacBook hard drive.

    Thank you!!

I was running just an another SuperDuper! Clone.

  • What does Time Machine to the top of the address book?

I use OS X El Capitan (10.11.5) and AddressBook application.

I created a bunch of groups in the address book and must have one accidentally deleted because he disappeared. I use Time Machine and it seems to be compatible with the address book, so I thought I could just go back to an older version, but I can't seem to make it work.

If I enter Time Machine from the address book application, I see the old backups to return indefinitely. I have chosen one a week ago and restored, but I don't see the old group. In fact, there are always new groups that I just created today.

So I did not understand what actually have backed up by Time Machine. Is this just backup contact records, but not groups?

When I restore, it restores the entire database or just a folder that I'm looking?

Thanks in advance for any suggestion or advice!
