BlackBerry 10 Passport Hub - display of special characters (accent) French

One interesting here, on a passport with 10.3.0.675, French keyboard and using the French language.

If the subject line of an e-mail contains a French accent character (IE. 'e' or 'e', I have not tested others), then the space between the first two words disappears.

An example: If the subject of the email is "Basic Test", "Testélémentaire" is displayed, so that the 'Basic Test' is correctly displayed "Basic Test."

Nothing dramatic, but probably a correction value.

I can't reproduce the problem with the 10.3.0.908 which I just installed. It has been corrected. Bravo, guys and thank you.

  • CLOB with special characters

    We have recently updated our database from a character set to UTF8. Since then, a function of database using DBMS_LOB. SUBSTR to return 4,000 characters both stopped working when the text contains special characters (accents, tilda, etc.). I know that our DBA converted all the fields of VARCHAR2. For example, he changed a field with the data type of VARCHAR2 (10) to VARCHAR2 (10 char). Is there a similar conversion to CLOB fields?

    user2486268 wrote:
    The problem may be the function itself. This is the code:

    My first thought was that I had to change v_return_answer VARCHAR2 (4000) to v_return_answer VARCHAR2 (4000 tank). I tried, but it made no difference. Here's an example of what look like parameters in the function call:
    SELECT f_get_long_answer (1307003,2,15,'L1',1)
    OF THE DOUBLE

    When there is a special character in the area of the sarquan_long_answer, he gets this Oracle error:
    ORA-6502: PL/SQL: digital or value error: character string buffer too small.

    I think that you already have the position in the right direction - your problem is that the DBMS_LOB. SUBSTR function is now trying to copy the 4,000 characters in your field of VARCHAR2.

    Many characters with your UTF8 characters will now allocate more than a single byte.

    So if you need to change the local variable to semantics (4000 tank) TANK if not changed a default of your DBA (parameter NLS_LENGTH_SEMANTICS) - but there is a limitation in Oracle that SQL can manage up to 4 000 bytes VARCHAR2 (PL/SQL can handle up to 32767 bytes in the latest versions of Oracle) - and if you try to copy the 4,000 characters in your local variable it will succeed to within the service, if the variable is defined as char 4 000, but it will fail to return the value of SQL.

    So I assume you are using this function in SQL and then fails with this error message if you try to use SQL from whenever the local variable is greater than 4 000 bytes. If your local variable is defined with the semantics of character then he must really succeed if you use from within PL/SQL, provided the variable that will receive the return of the value function is also defined to be big enough.

    Since a single character in UTF8 can allocate up to 4 bytes you can only assume back up to 1,000 characters now that SQL function, is over 4,000. Everything from 1 001 to 4 000 characters can potentially fail now in the SQL engine.

  • BlackBerry smartphones getting special characters on the letters: torch

    Normally on a PC, you use the alt key and the number keys to set a certain brand on a letter, that is to say an accent sign an e. How do I do that on my BB torch

    On your torch, with the help of hard slide on the keyboard, press and HOLD the desired accented letter or a special character and do scroll the trackpad horizontally (on the side) and you will see the special characters.

    On the touch keyboard, simply touch and hold the contact for a few seconds and the replacement characters will be displayed, to choose.

    Here is the difference:

    • Standard report column: this is used when your column in the SQL query returns the HTML markup. For example the query SQL with APEX_ITEM API columns or columns where you have mixed data in the column with the markup. In short, APEX rendering engine treats the column as HTML markup and analysis accordingly to display the required HTML element.
    • Display text (escape special characters): this type analysis the column data in the form of data stored in the database (no HTML). During analysis if the data contains special characters then it escapes and displays the data.

    Yes, you can mix the manual in the form of built on APEX_ITEM with normal standard report (display text) columns.

    I hope this helps!

    Kind regards

    While pressing the 'e' key, highlight your trackball side by side, you will find the different variations of e.

    You can do it with most of the keys for special characters.

    4.2 there is a new parameter called "HTML escaping Mode" which is by default the value 'Extended '. You can find it under "Edit Application Properties"-> security-> security of the browser. It may not be visible if 'Compatibility Mode' ('Change the properties of Application'-> 'Properties') is not defined > = 4.1. So, you'll need temporarily to 4.2 make visible this attribute.

    If you set it to 'Basic', you should be able to experience of the old behavior. But I think that we still have to examine why you have the double escapement.

  • Read the special characters from the txt file

    Hi guys,.

    on blackberry 9000, I tried to read some special characters like this: ° ²® µ±³ ° ¯´µ±´¯® text file

    using this function:

    FileConnection fc = (FileConnection) Connector.open ("file:///SDCard/test.txt", Connector.READ_WRITE);
    InputStream is = fc.openInputStream ();
    InputStreamReader reader = new InputStreamReader (is, "UTF - 8");
    LineReader lineReader = new LineReader (is);
    line & = new String (lineReader.readLine ());

    what I get is different, I can't write it here, it is difficult to find these characters.

    I change the content of the file to:

    ddfdsfdsfdsfdsfdsf
    aaaaabbbc ° ² ° ¯´µ±´¯® µ±³®

    now I get:

    ddfdsfdsfdsfdsfdsf
    aaaaabbbc, then the same characters

    How to display the same as what I have in the text file?

    Thank you

    To add to what martijnbrinkers said, you need not to the InputStreamReader because you don't use it (and this is why your code has no idea that the file is in UTF-8 encoding).

  • Display of Asian characters, Unicode issues

    I have a problem with the display of Asian characters. In a number of programs instead of display characters, it shows just the squares for lack of character. So far the programs I've seen this problem in are iTunes, Windows Explorer, Notepad and Windows Media Player. When I copy these places in Google Chrome, they seem like the appropriate characters. I recently installed Windows 7 (some time last week) and could see all the fine Asian characters. The problem started this morning after restarting my computer (before I restarted the computer, I could see all the characters). Most of the solutions, I tried an online state change settings Japanese system locale. However, the characters I want to see are not all Japanese. Some are Koreans and some Chinese. Is there a way to establish that he is able to show all three types of characters?

    Hi crazymanjinn,

    a. what edition of windows 7 you are using?
    b. recent changes made on your computer, such as installing or upgrading the software/hardware?

    If it solves your problem, you can try the steps and check them off below.

    1. open region and language by clicking on the Start button, click on the Control Panel, clicking clock, language, and region, click the region and language.
    2. click on the keyboards and languages tab.
    3. under display language, click install/uninstall languages, and then follow the steps.  If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

    If your problem persists then, you try to run the restore of the system on your computer.

    System Restore will take your computer state permeable when it did not face such a problem, this can be done by selecting the correct restore point.

    To restore the operating system to an earlier point in time, follow these steps:

    1. Click Start, type system restore in the search box, and then click System Restore in the list programs.

    If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click on continue.

    2. in the System Restore dialog box, click on choose a different restore point and then click Next.
    3. in the list of restore points, click a restore point created before you started having the problem, and then click Next.
    4. click on finish.

    I think it's just the Unicode text, so if you include these characters when you submit the form, they will display.

    Your question is perhaps more on how to insert these characters into the HTML form. To do this, because I need it rarely, I didn't copy and paste of a website where I can find the required text. For example, Google for 'unicode ball' and you can find one of them on one of the first findings of the research, such as the Wikipedia article.

    Some people probably have their systems set up to type Unicode directly from their keyboard, but I never got to determine the modern way to do this (and the last time I checked, years, Unicode in operating systems support was still largely missing).

    I tried to display in a list of words that contain special characters, but I can only managed to get poster garbage when it comes to these characters. The groupdata assigned to the ListView contains data from an RSS feed that looks like:

    Is it possible to encode special characters to display the correctly?

    P.D.: I use the QDomDocument to analyze the doc and the values are obtained with 'nodeValue();"that returns a QString

    Ive found the solution:

    When you download the info on the web and analysis with the QDomDocument of what it will work:

    QString to les(QString::fromUtf8(node1.nodeValue().toAscii()));)

    now, if you assign to a text box or label, it will show the accents...
