BlackBerry OS 9650 Smartphone message update on text message fees increased?

All,

I support a group of lawyers with BlackBerrys. One of them came to me this morning and said that his 9650, you are prompted for an OS to date this weekend (she is on the Verizon network). Once completed, she received a text message and she said that a screen pop - up (not a message) told him that his text messages may be more due to the update of the OS.

I have found no trace of this message on his camera and I'm sure that she misread it. I couldn't google it and find it anywhere nor does make sense to me that an update of the OS would affect invoicing, either.

Any ideas? Help!

Diana

The message was to inform that fresh data can be initiated by downloading the update, according to the plan of data users.   Basically, it was their legalese for saying they are not responsible if it costs you to download the update.   If you do not have a package data unlimited then a charge may be incurred if the download will continue you your data plan limit.

  • BlackBerry Bold 9650 Smartphone call and receive problem

I have a 9650 Verizon unlocked now with T-Mobile as provider. I just / text of the call and no data. I used it for several months without problem. Recently, I can no longer make calls, or received calls. I can still text to another user of T-Mobile. Not yet tried to SMS the non-T-mobile user. I discovered, but trial and error that if I remove the battery and replace the battery, can I make or receive a phone call. After a call, after dialing the phone number, the phone doesn't disconnects automatically. If I call the phone, I received an out of range not available message. I install my SIM card in another phone, no problem at all. So I guess it's the phone. Any suggestions will be much appreciated.

I understand that you say he has worked in the past, however, a Verizon device should not be used on TMobile. They are not compatible with the TMobile network. TMobile is making LTE more they take probably some frequency out of the air and you may lose the frequency that just happened to work with this device.

  • BlackBerry Bold 9650 Smartphone will not receive emails from one of my mailboxes.

Update from last week, and then an e-mail address will not work.  When I contacted the server provider, they gave me the server to use, port, etc..  but I can't change these on my Blackberry.  (Or may not know where to do it).  When I remove and add the email address, it won't give me the opportunity to put the popmail address, or designate the right server and port.   Tried to do it on the computer but the phone won't allow me to do so.  Someone knows how to fix this?

    Hi wilk123,

Try to enter the parameters of advanced integration when setting up your e-mail address in the e-mail on the BlackBerry or on your BlackBerry Internet Service account settings.

  • BlackBerry BOLD 9650 Smartphone - CARDS MICRO SD: highest CLASS # SPEC?

OK, I've looked. Could not find.

PLEASE, I DON'T WANT OF ABILITY. I understand that MAX is 32 GB Micro SD for the 9650.

What I want to know, is what is the top/most fastest Micro SD CLASS specification, supported by the 9650 currently & also if this will change with the new OS updates.

If I understand correctly, more the class specification, faster data transfer rates, faster performance related to mobile data card power. (The material & o/s of the unit must support this level, or 'CLASS' of M - SD card to take advantage of the benefits, although).

Basically, is the phone able to realize the benefits of performance (worth it for me to pay the extra $) of the use of CLASS 4, CLASS 6, micro SD CARD, or would it be a waste of $, given the capabilities of the phone?

(Here I just get a CLASS 2 CARD & do with it? Faster is better & I'm willing to pay for performance, I don't want to pay unnecessarily for performances in the Micro SD that the phone cannot be used.)

BB techies out there - please chime...

    Thank you

    -A noob-

OK, says that I have would...

I received my new 8 GB, class 6 MicroSD card. It's made by "TOPRAM," kind of a lesser known manufacturer - so I took a chance, but I'm glad I did. The price was less than 1/2 as major players in the business of memory, but so far, it seems that the only thing I have suffered from this decision is a somewhat heavier portfolio...

I moved my data and installed the new card. It is not an assessment scientific with number & stats & similar, but...

"Class 6" card is significantly faster (as the map of "class 2" he replaced "") for me the access data and transfer data functions, which, for me, enhances the user overall experience.

Two thumbs up for (class 6) specified maps, afaic.

  • BlackBerry Bold 9650 Smartphone No audio

All the audio files on my Bold 9650 has suddenly stopped working - not ringtones, alerts, speaker, music or voice recordings can be heard. The phone is not muted and the volume up. Material and soft reset reset have not set. Software has been upgraded to 5.0.0.1006 after the problem started and it has not resolved. Device that self-test performed and verified that no audio function is involved.

In addition, there is an icon that I don't remember seeing before the display below my DASH indicator. It is a white circle with a cross through it, as the symbol of the view when you focus a gun or a camera. I can't find the icon on any list of icon to indicate what it means.

Any comments or ideas would be appeciated.

Problem solved, apparently spontaneously. hours of 10l after that all the patches have been tempted and phone left, audio functions returned.

  • BlackBerry Bold 9650 smartphone volume questions in the case

I used my Bold 9650 in the Holster while I work in the gym and I was listening to Pandora. I noticed that the volume controls on the right side of the device will not work while the unit is in the Holster. If I get out of the Holster, the volume buttons work fine. Is it possible to allow these buttons while the case is used? I would have thought that they would work automatically by default. Thank you.

I'm no expert on the cases, but I know that the magnet in the case puts your phone "sleep", turn off the screen.  This could also affect the side buttons.

To make sure that this isn't just a problem with your phone, remove your battery when your phone is turned on, then replace it.  If the symptoms persist, it could be something with that you'll just have to live.

    I hope that helps you.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones location of saved Text messages and downloads please as a desire to update the device software

I have a Blackberry 9300. I noticed while testing option 'restore' in Blackberry Desktop Software 'Saved messages' is grey so not able to restore and downloaded programs were not included in the backup course so I'm delaying the update of the OS 6 bundle OS 6 bundle 1879 2949 until I can get these issues resolved. First of all, where are my saved text messages would be they located on the SD card? Secondly, where are the downloaded applications and how would bring him back, I should reinstall individually or is there a better method I guess updating the software of the device would eliminate any reference to them? Thanks in advance, Marcia

My problem, I think that will be most of the downloads and installations have been from the Blackberry web, although "My World" lists apps, I have only the option to remove and reinstall yet if I so choose. That's why I need to dig a little deeper on the aspect of the place here.

To reinstall your applications, see this KB:

    • KB17625 How to install or transfer has already purchased apps from BlackBerry App World for BlackBerry smartphone

You may also need to clear the cache of application AppWorld:

    1. open the App World

    2. go to my world

    3. follow one (and only one!) of these steps:

    3. for the BB keyboard-oriented - hold down the ALT key and press on, in the sequence R, then S, then T

3B. for touch screen only BBs - hold the num-lock (! 123 button) so that it hangs and then press on, in the sequence 3, then 4, then)

    3 c for the most recent (e, g., OS6 and 7) BB s, see this KB:

    • KB24714 How to clear the cache of BlackBerry App World

    4 AppWorld must close

    5. If your BB locks after issuing clear cache, do a battery pull reboot

    6. return to AppWorld/MyWorld (it can be slow, while it re - sync).

If (4) stage arrives not as described, then the empty the cache failed.

I was also interested to read your information on the primary database of smartphone that made me wonder if it was at this location that the saved text messages were built. I mention this as I save some of my text messages I can consult at any time by selecting 'View the Messages stored' in the menu messages text, which lists the emails and text messages, that you saved.

The Interface of Messages is against the databases on the BB... Watch a saved messages can be as simple as a filter that is applied to display only those, but always from the same database. Also understand that the 'Messages' is a term Super set, with "email", "SMS", and other types of messages into subsets.

    willismc wrote:
Saving messages electronic elsewhere are not a problem but saved SMS backup does not seem to be an option, why would I need to check this feature before upgrading the device software. Appreciate your answer to that one.

As I said, I suspect saved SMS Messages to be a subset of the base of great set 'SMS Messages"together with the message 'saved' being a subset within this database.

I can't answer definitively for you because I've never had the problem you are experiencing. You may need to test to know for sure.

    Good luck!

  • BlackBerry smartphones can not receive text messages

My blackberry pearl deletes my messages text before they are read. Can anyone help?

Hi and welcome to the forums,

You have 64 MB of memory total on your device. You sent that you have 0bytes free.

15 MB of free space would be regarded as a minimum.

Most people close the applications by pressing escape or the red button. This does not close the applications.

Each application has an option close. For example, if you are in the calendar, press the menu key (spotted) and scroll down to the bottom close is listed.

One when you're done using the browser, press menu and options, select cache operations,

Delete all categories and press ESC it will clean the browser cache.

Select the memory clean option on the BB. Go to options, security, memory, cleaning, activate it.

The BB will now clean up the memory when idle for 5 minutes.

Links attached to manage memory efficiently.

I use a carrier at low prices without support for Blackberry – basically, I use the phone, wifi, and gps. I guess that any version of OS will work in these conditions, and that I should install just the last being that I can find.

Maybe... but according to a few things, you may need something more... Insert, between steps 5 and 6, the detachment from your PC to any Internet access. Some of its latest versions of operating system require an active subscription to a data plan adequate to your mobile service provider to allow the use of this version of the OS... and it uses your PC's Internet connection to perform this validation. But, if the PC cannot access the Internet, then validation is actually ignored and the installation continues nevertheless. From what you describe, you can very well do not even have a suitable data plan at the level of the BIS, which not only will restrict your access to the operating system levels (except if you use this trick), but also your access to the exclusive services of BB (email, BBM, and many other services does not work without an active BIS data plan even if you only use these services via WiFi).

Good luck and let us know!
